Food was excellent, even if service was slightly slow.(We went on a busy Memorial day weekend, so expected it). Loved the house style enchiladas with spinach and cream sauce and the x-factor of the fresh guacamole made at our table. Ambience was great too, and diners can enjoy warm summer evenings with the tables and pretty lights with outside seating option. A great place to spend quality time with friends and family.

The food was very delicious. Our waitress provided mediocre service and I’m 99% sure I had the worst margarita in my life. I ordered the Texas margarita and all it tasted like was very sweet lemonade. Pretty sure there was zero tequila in it– only grand gala. I’ve been to other plaza Aztecas and never had a bad margarita. I used to even bartender at a Mexican restaurant and it’s not difficult to make a great margarita.

On the road again… Willy Nelson! Stopped here for some Mexican food. First sign, parking lot not full, second sign, wait staff hanging out by the hostess stand. The food was good, the salsa had enough garlic to choke a heard of cattle. My waitress was nice but didn’t know the menu… like many ounces in a jumbo margarita. I would go back…

Very good food. Unlike the traditional Mexican restaurant they have a true chef. I wish we had this in NC.

Seriously one of my favorite Mexican restaurants ever! Their food looks exactly like what is pictured and tastes better than you can imagine.

Good food but not my favorite for Mexican and a bit more pricey. It has nothing on Mi Rancho in Fishersville but the atmosphere is nice and I still visit for the live music that they sometimes offer, which does add more to the overall dining experience.

I am visiting from Southern California, where there is excellent Mexican food. Took my niece out to lunch at Plaza Azteca. Thought the food was excellent and the service slow, the server insolent and the manager inflexible. I asked for a #11, which is described as «Speedy Gonzales: Taco, enchilada and your choice of rice or beans.» I asked for two fish tacos instead of the taco and enchilada and offered to pay the difference for a substitution. I was told by the server that they could not do that. I asked to speak to the manager. He never came. I was served three fish tacos(not what I ordered!). I again asked to speak to the manager and was told he was busy. When he, Chris Ornelas did come, I told him what had happened. He also said they do not make any substitutions! I told him the food was good but he had just lost a customer. I had considered returning on the 26th with 4 other persons, however, given the way I was treated, I would rather we spend our money elsewhere.

went there while in town for a conference. asked about the locally brewed beer on the table card. waiter said you won’t like it; it’s not very good. WTH does he know about what I like? couldn’t provide a description and tried to sell me a bud bud lite Miller lite etc. finally some other person came over who STILL couldn’t describe beer even in simple terms like ‘ale or lager’? BTW… Waynesboro is between two or three major craft brewing areas in va. then came the awful awful food. salt is apparently the only Mexican spice they’ve discovered. called a week later to talk to mgr and got the assistant manager, who was the same person who didn’t know an ale from a lager! won’t be back. Staunton is 30 min away and has great food and brewpubs.

Hadn’t been here in a while. Remember the food being better. Chili releno was not very good. No green sauce. No heat with seeds. Served Ken with kelp not described accurately. There is a difference in taste/bitterness between black kelp and curly kelp. Lots of employees huddled at front door even waiter had an aloofness. Saw that I didn’t eat mine. Never asked how it was. No matter how sucessful a restaurant, it needs to look«hungry» for our business. Marking this one off the list.

This is a great Plaza Azteca! Kiki was amazing! We are from out of town and she gave us amazing service, just like our Plaza’s at home, AND helped us with all the local info we needed :)

The food was very good, but the waiter verbally harassed me. He was very intrusive and asked inappropriate questions about my sexuality. It was a very awkward conversation and I will never go to this restaurant again.

Food was average, but service was terrible. And this is the second chance I gave this place. No more.

Not bad for Mexican place in Virginia, flavors are definitely milder than the southwest US, but overall I enjoyed my meal and the live music playing in the bar area.

I think Plaza Azteca is better than Guadalarja(aka The Guat), but they’re both really good if you ‘re looking for some pretty authentic mexican food. The Spinach enchiladas with spinach sauce is so good for those who are vegetarian, they also have other vegetarian friendly entrees. The staff are nice too. They have a cool little outside area where they have live music in the warmer seasons and its a good place to go on a weekend evening.

I’ve eaten here 3 times now. I wasnt impressed with the food. Originally from southern California so I know great mexican food(which is always from a small family owned restaurant). Just cant recommend it. Their salsa isn’t worthy. Wish it was more SoCa regional mexican style.

This business seems to think customers exist to benefit the restaurant rather than the other way around. After being seated near the door on a cold evening, we found the table turned sideways creating a strain in talking and sharing. We asked that the two person table be turned correctly snd the waitress said she’d check to be sure it wasn’t a fire hazard! There was a four foot pathway. The table was obviously placed to create extra seating but clearly to make an extra-wide path for servers. Customers were expected to endure the inconvenience so waiters could socialize in the hallway! She returned and said it was a fire hazard, then admitted she had not checked. Finally she agreed to turn it in a more reasonable direction but the hassle made the meal far less than enjoyable. We won’t go back.

Live music on the weekends, apparently, and it is LOUD. They set up in the bar area, which is right near the hostess stand, making it nearly impossible to convey such things as «Away from that!» or «Seats for two» Otherwise: The food is good and of a really good size for the price you pay. Drinks are a little small, but well made and not too expensive. The service we got was very rushed, but we did come in just as they were closing(Everything in Waynesboro seems to roll up at 9 on Sundays!) so I can’t exactly blame them there. Beautiful outdoor seating here. All in all, solid.
