I used to love this place but recently I have not been happy, I am wondering why a seafood restaurant can be out of clams not once but twice! I will not be back, which is a shame because we used to really like it. Every time we drive by it looks closed, while all the other places in the area are chock full. Now we go to Westbrook Lobster!

Great place for happy hour specials. Fresh oysters and claims at half the price. The lobster roll was very filling and the tuna sandwich was really tasty. The pizza was okay. It was our second time there. The server was super friendly. It was less crowded than the other sea food place across the street. Will stop by again.

Went there last night for the very first time and will not be back. First impression, tables were left dirty, cluttered with a set of dirty napkins. Service was not that great even though the place was almost completely empty. One member of our party ordered a salad and clarified with the waitress if this is the same salad as the other salads and when the meal came it had a small salad. Which isn’t what was clarified and had to order another larger salad. The coleslaw in one of the meals was bad, not just tasty bad, but bad. And to top it all off the salad had a funky decoration on it !!! The manager was not helpful and certainly didn’t offer to exchange the coleslaw for something else. Was really not convinced there was an apology in there. Not so good customer service !!! On the brighter side the fish and chips was very good and a large portion.

Wish I could also give less than a one like another review that was previously posted. Went in with friends, managers were explaining how they were sorry to every customer for bad service. Absolutely no compensations for that, That speaks for that, every order had problems with it, took one bite of my raw hamburger, after waiting an hour for it. Left on plate and never was asked what was wrong. Prices outrageous for quaility of food.

When this place started out the food was really really good — it has gone way down hill since then. As townies we go out every Friday and it the beginning it was our place to go. However tonight was our last. The clam chowder was water with canned clams and a splash of milk no flavor. The lobster roll and the french fires were cold. However the pizza is still good. If we are going to get a pizza I would still go there but not anything else.

i promised myself that i was going to return to this place this time i took my mother and my father, including my boyfriend we asked for the specialty pizza Arugula Prosciutto and honestly the pizza is EXCELLENT and DELICIOUS when the things are well done it gives one pleasure to come back i also ate pastrami sandwiches and BLT sandwiches and other things i recommend this place 100% and ask for an arugula prosciutto pizza you will not regret it. and if you think i will still go to eat there you are absolutely right i will continue to go, this place is excellent

Great local bar/restaurant. Big portions, good drinks, good price, good service. A solid option when in town visiting. Pizza was delicious! Thin and cooked perfectly. We had arugula and prosciutto on ours.

Had a really great lunch. Lobster roll, New England clam chowder, fish & chips all very good, and extremely reasonally priced. Server was also the bartender. She worked her butt off. Plenty of parking. Will return.

If you’re here for the servers and the atmosphere go to a fancy place. Come here for their beyond amazing roast beef sandwiches. The place is a restaurant in a restaurant that went out of business so it’s been a while since it has updated so the décor isn’t our of this world. But who is really going for that? Early 2015 update… Is it going out? My delicious roast beef sandwich consisted of all fat some of which was too hard to eat! My boyfriend spent $ 15.00 on a lobster roll that was nothing short of a waste of money. Prices have increased and quality has gone down. My biggest pet peeve is poor quality meat at a restaurant. Because of that chances are we may not come back. Sorry guys!

Wow! This place is great! Our server John was very friendly and was checking back on us often. Went on a Saturday night around 7pm and the place wasn’t very crowded. There was a great band playing rock covers(Mike and the muffin tops). The menu had mostly sandwiches, pizza and seafood. We ordered buffalo wings, calamari, and Caesar salad. The wings were crispy outside and juicy inside. Not too spicy but could have used a little more sauce. I thought the calamari was fantastic; served with marinara and nice crispy batter, they were tender and quite flavorful. The marinara was quality. The Caesar was a large portion and the ingredients were fresh; very acceptable. I ordered the prime rib sandwich«French dip style» with Au jus. OMG it was so good. The beef was super juicy, flavorful, and the extra Au Jus on the side was delicious. The sandwich was served on house made bread which was crispy flaky outside and tender inside. Is order that sandwich a thousand times over! Others ordered the beef sandwiches of different varieties and types and all were impressive beef-loaded splendiferousness. One got the whole belly clam special and it was a hefty pile of large deep fried clam belly goodness. Cannoli we got for dessert was delicious, not overly sweet on the filling, which was perfect and the shell was crunchy YUM! Overall, this place is an excellent value and the food quality is orders of magnitude better than the restaurant down the street with all the cheap t shirts. Definitely my preferred place to hit after a day at the beach!

Have been there twice now — once for lunch and once for dinner. As Arnold said — I’ll be back! Food was excellent; wait staff were attentive, pleasant, and helpful; music playing at just the right level to provide privacy of conversation at your table. Good mix of music genres. So far, had grilled chicken Cesar salad, white clam pizza, and seafood fra diavolo. All top notch. It was difficult choosing something from the menu because they all sound good. Will be back to sample more. I highly recommend this place.

The restaurant had a very homey sort of feel, with friendly waiters who introduce themselves by name and seem really eager to look after you. The food is OK, though surprisingly the fried belly clams were not as successful as the roast beef sandwich, considering this is the Connecticut shore. Also, the promise of unsweetened iced tea was ruined when we were instead served highly-chemically artificially sweetened iced tea for some reason. Yuck. PS, as a matter of restaurant policy, they do not offer coffee – the reason is that they don’t want guests to linger over coffee, they want them paid up and out. Nice!

My daughter and I went yesterday for an early dinner. It took 10 minutes for a waitress to come over. We ordered our food and 30 minutes later it appeared. My tuna, that I had ordered medium rare, came out medium well. I had to ask for napkins and utensils. The waitress didn’t come back to check on how the meal was. While we were there 2 tables that had come in and sat down left. Not going to hurry back. Plenty of other(better) choices around.

By far the best restaurant on the shoreline! Awesome food and the best bartenders ever! Their pizza and wings are amazing!!! I would recommend this place to everyone I know.

Went there for happy hour yesterday, we were pretty cautious because of the negative reviews BUT it was soo good! Really surprised! The 1 dollar oysters and 50 cent clams were great(not mind-blowing, but very good), I had a burger on their homemade italian(great bread and surprisingly good on burger). Service was perfect, really impressed, we had stayed away because of the reviews but if you are on the fence I highly recommend it. There is a bunch of TV’s up and I am not a huge fan of that, but they were not loud. In total we had one glass of wine, 8 oysters, 6 clams and burger and fish sandwich and it was just less than 40 bucks! We WILL be back.

Off The Hook has become a popular destination for shoreline residents. The menu has become somewhat smaller and features lighter fare such as sandwiches, pizza, salads and appetizers. Our server was Marissa whose bubbly personality only added to our delicious meals. The New England clam chowder is served in large bowls with hearty bread on the side. The soup was loaded with clams and could be a meal in itself. The steamers are some of the best I have found on the shoreline. The Caesar salad was well done with tasty croutons. My friend ordered the Reuben which was a bit dry, skimpy and needed more filling. For $ 5.00 you get a huge glass of wine compared to other restaurants were the glass is barely filled. On weekends Off The Hook is crowded so get there early.

Stopped in randomly as we’re new to town, the sign for happy hour 50cent clams and dollar oysters on the half shell is what drew us in. Which I suppose could be very scary but how pleasantly surprised I was at how delicious, fresh and cold they were. Also tried the mussels, large portion and were also delicious. People on here are complaining about service I suggest going to a fancier restaurant. We thought this place was great and you can’t beat the price. We’ll definitely be returning.

I wish I could rate the food here, but I didn’t even get to try it thanks to the appalling service. My daughter and I went in for dinner on a Sunday evening. There was no host or hostess, but we followed a sign directing us to sit in the main dining room. Once there, we sat b In a booth for several minutes before leaving. No one greeted us, let alone came to take an order. I will not be returning.

Quickly becoming a regular weekend(or weekday) spot. Food is great, drinks are cold and cheap, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Pizza is great, wings are perfect flavor and texture and the sandwiches are off the hook! Andrew the owner is personable and engaging to customers. Will continue to frequent this spot.

I wish I could give lower than 1 star. Yes, it was that poor. Very disappointing!!! We tried 3 selections: fried seafood platter– there were 3 small shrimp, 2 small scallops and a huge pile of tough-monster calamari and two oil soaked mystery fish. Just terrible for $ 19. Spinach florentine pizza– it was supposed to be white but they literally used a red sauce mootz pizza and threw frozen spinach and globs of flavorless ricotta and slices of tomato. I promise if I was blindfolded I would not have known what I was eating — zero flavor. Porchetta sandwich — my daughter enjoyed ut. I did not taste it. The busboy tried to take the dishes twice while we were clearly just starting. All in all we will not return. The ladies at the next table had similar experience and commiserated as they left. Save $ 50 and drive on by.
