I want to love this place, I really do. It has so much potential. Pros: 1.) Location. You are out in the middle of nowhere and there is GOOD coffee around. Some seating outside and across the street by the pond is perfect for a nice day. 2.) Product. They use Coastal Roaster coffee which is roasted right in Tiverton, RI and it is great quality. Also love that their drinks use local Tiverton, RI milk from Arruda’s Dairy Farm(coffee milk, chocolate milk, vanilla milk, yum!) 3.) Ambiance. This place is refreshingly cute inside. It’s welcoming.4.) Gear. They sell pretty awesome travel mugs and other souvenirs with the Rhode Island Red. Cool gifts! So what’s the problem? Cons: 1.) Pricing. It is much more expensive than other nearby places. The Mind Grind is their famous espresso drink. Ordered a medium iced mocha mind grind(24oz. Espresso, coffee milk and chocolate sauce and it was $ 6.50!!!). It is delicious, but not that delicious. Also regular and iced coffee plain isn’t too much more than standard pricing but flavor syrups are extra. 2.) Baristas. They aren’t that friendly at all and make you feel a little unwelcome and unwanted. I do not live in Westport or Little Compton but I am there 2⁄3 days a week. I can’t imagine how tourists would feel stepping in there. So moral of the review. Delicious local products, really pricey, and not friendly service.

Dear barista, Thanks for taking the four minutes from your conversation to sell me my $ 5 coffee with a side of apathy toward the customer. The coffee was good. And the ambiance was good. All good. But too cool(and the barista was definitely not warming the place up). Maybe if I become a regular you’ll acknowledge my existence while you take my money.

Great spot for fellow coffee snobs! After living in San Francisco for the past three years, knowing I was moving back to my beloved town and with the limited choices out here to stop and grab a great hot or iced cup of black gold, GDG was a lovely and unexpected find. They had a small menu of lunch items, pastries, muffins, and some cute schwag like logo mugs and travel cups that are great for the skukes and locals alike. I’m definitely adding this sweet little spot to my list of go-to’s.

Great coffee and other specialty drinks. They have done a nice job of improving their food selection. Cute place, nice spot to take a break on a hot day.

Best Java in town. This is a fun local spot that is lovingly run by the next family generation of grist millers. Be sure to buy the Johnny Cake meal and pancake mix to take home. After a magnificent bike ride this is my go to spot.

Cute place. I just had a dark roast coffee, and that was decent enough. My mother on the other hand spent way too much money on a Westport sign for the living room, and a bottle of locally made coffee syrup. But that’s ok, places like this aren’t around too much, and we should all support them. I think I am going to go back and get her the coffee table book about the history of Westport. Basically, to summarize, it is a coffee shop combined with a store that is expensive, but almost everything(if not everything) is locally made.
