Yamafuji

My favorite place for sushi around here. The place is quite small (which is not a bad thing) 3 tables and some seating at the bar (although I don’t think they serve alcohol, although you can bring your own bottle of wine for dinner). Sushi is always tasty and fresh. We had other dishes and everything is always delicious. We often do take out there as well (call ahead as they are quite busy with take outs). And everything is priced well.

The miso soup here is really good, however I am giving this review 4 stars because on two occasions when I got takeout from here I had a fly in my soup. Especially in a clear soup that is unacceptable, the container is clear too, I don’t understand how that could go unseen. The sushi is very good from here though. The sesame noodles are also good, but not great. The tofu in teryaki sauce is pretty much the worst tofu i’ve ever had though, it isn’t marinated but the sauce is instead thrown on top of breaded tofu.

Our office frequently orders the lunch specials from here. Have never been disappointed! Delicious, fresh sushi

This is by far the best sushi in Westport! It may look deceiving from the outside but it has amazing sushi that is always fresh. The service is incredible because of how small this place is and the delivery is extremely fast. If you are ever looking for a cheap alternative to the pricey Westport sushi restaurants look no further than Yamafuji.

Good food. Good service. Not that much seating. Wasn’t crowded since we went for a lunch late so avoided any crowds. Recommend: toro salmon avocado roll (was a special yesterday), fried (agedashi) tofu. Would go again.

I tried this place for the first time via delivery. My food took about 1hr & 15mins to arrive. The driver wasn’t familiar w/​my address but, isn’t that why we have smartphones and navigation apps? ESP if your job is to deliver
Other than that the food was delicious. I ordered a Kani salad, spicy salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. The Kani salad was absolutely my fave and they give you a generous portion. The salmon roll was good but, a lil warm considering it took forever to arrive but, the shrimp tempura was different and generous, they put in two big shrimp tempura in it and instead of cucumber they put romaine lettuce. It’s a must try and their delivery min is $ 20 which is cheap around here.

Ordered delivery from Yamafuji for the first time tonight. I’ve had sushi from almost all of the Japanese restaurants in Westport and I’m definitely going to start going to Yamafuji instead now. Excellent prices and excellent food. We ordered a total of 8 rolls and 2 soups. All tasty! From what I see online they also have really good lunch prices. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area looking for good prices on Japanese food without losing out on taste.

I am hesitant to add to the great reviews only because this popular little place has become too popular! It is our absolute favorite sushi restaurant – none of the others in town even come close – not even Sakura (YUCH!) or places like Pink Sumo or Matsu. The sushi is extremely fresh, creative and beautifully presented. I have a personal favorite roll that they have since taken off the menu but they make it for me anyway – ask for it – it’s the Alaskan King Crab Roll ($ 13) and it has salmon, crab and mango – amazing. Their Sex In The City Roll and Rainbow rolls are also family favorites. We also love their hot dishes like their chicken Teriyaki and noodle dishes, and their shumai and rock shrimp apps are the best.

Love this place! Has some really good specialty rolls such as the tuna amazing roll. Have ordered from here a bunch of times and they are always consistent.

Pricey but so worth it, best of all you’re at a sushi bar in Vegas without having to leave Fairfield. Martini was too sweet and service was slow (it was bumpin and there were only two servers) — otherwise food was great. They encourage return customers by giving you a rewards card and discount if you come back within the week. Menus are iPads. Don’t be fooled by the neon lights and giant metal balls hanging from the ceiling, THIS IS NOT A STRIP CLUB, there’s no hard drugs or naked women dancing. Though … southport could use some o’dat.

We were Unilocaling around Westport and saw the high ratings for Yamafuji. They are well deserved! We had an absolutely amazing lunch. When we walked in, the restaurant was definitely small (3 tables and a sushi bar) but the décor was very pretty and the atmosphere was cozy.
My mom and I started of with hot teas and the Mount Fuji Sushi Appetizer. Wow! So many flavors and such a beautiful presentation. Then, we each got a miso soup (which was not bland at all — one of my pet peeves) and shared two rolls: the Fantastic Roll and the Pink Lady Roll. I highly recommend the Fantastic Roll, it has a lot of crunch and flavor. The crab on top is also a nice touch and gave more flavor to the roll. Also, and most importantly, the fish was so so fresh. You could really taste the amazing amount of flavor in each bite.
We don’t normally finish dessert, but we finished with the Banana Tempura which is one of my favorites. The tempura was done perfectly, and my mom was pleasantly surprised by how good the Red Bean Ice Cream that came with it was.
We’re looking to go back very soon!

good food and excellent service. Came here with two teenagers who were cranky after long sight seeing day and both loved the food, atmosphere, and unusual selection. would def suggest to others and come back.

Compare the other sushi restaurants (wafu, matsu, little kitchen. etc) in this area, their fish is very fresh and the people are good! Good comment!

Stopped here recently as a surprise during a longish trek home. Very friendly staff and nice menu options. We chose two chef’s specialty rolls thst featured spicy tuna as well as yellowtail and, in one case, avocado. The sushi hot the spot and was served with plenty of wasabi and ginger. They appear to have a brisk business, including delivery, for such a small spot.

Small place (3 tables and a sushi bar) with great wait staff. The food here is just amazing AAA rating for presentation and flavors. If you are in the area and looking for great quality come here. I will definitely return to this lovely little restaurant

I had lunch here last week, based on the reviews I read here. I think they were having a bad day, because while good, I found nothing to rave about at all. Maybe they don’t do lunch as well as they do dinner, I don’t know, and the only way to know is to try Yamafuli for dinner, which I will do.

Stopped in to pick up a quick lunch to go — had the tempura bento box. Typically you can tell by the quality of the tempura if the prep is quality — It was. I drove back to my and ate it 10 minutes later, still crispy.
Tempura was good, not oily, fresh tasting, nice assortment of veggies and shrimp. It included a salad, shumai, miso soup and a california roll (i know its gringo roll) all for $ 10.00
Next time I will venture deeper into the eel and other delights. Promised in 15 minutes, ready in 10. The place was small and the people are very engaging, would go again for a sit down lunch or dinner. Worth the visit.

It’s a tiny place, about 3 tables and a sushi counter but don’t be fooled, the service and food is excellent!
