My family and I got food poisoning off the chicken pesto pizza. So sad because it was really good! Still not ready to go back… maybe someday! Also, I second the comment about the staff yelling at each other is annoying. Something similar was happening when I picked up this pizza and I almost said something(7 – 8 years experience in the restaurant business… this shouldn’t be happening in front of me)

The new updates look great and the food and service are excellent. A good selection of wines, local/foreign beers on tap, martinis(mango is my favorite) and much more. My favorite dish is chicken Francois and best pizza is barbecue chicken with bacon and onions. The bolognese sauce is delicious if you are looking for great pasta. As for desserts I always order the carrot cake with a nice hot cappuccino. Best restaurant in town!

Food is good… But hearing the servers yell at each other about their draw being short $ 3.36 is fucking ridiculous. Grow up and learn how to shut your mouth when I’m eating my sandwich People amaze me sometimes

The only deep-dish meat pizza in central Connecticut. Having lived in the mid-west for a while, Chicago deep-dish was always an option, and although the surrounding area in Connecticut has some of the best NY style around, the hankering for a meat cheese pie rears it’s carbohydrate heavy head. Vito’s delivered, not exactly corn-meal crust Chicago style, but close enough to satisfy. In addition, we heard their grinders were good, particularly the meat grinder. This was pretty spot on, good sliced steak, good ingredients, crunchy bread. This is a good place we’ll return to for take out for particular foods, namely the meat grinders and the deep dish.

Just in town visiting again, and brought 6 other people. Pleasantly served in a timely manner. Pizza was good, The garlic bread is a bit expensive for a large basket and the mozzarella sticks were very greasy. I’m not sure what happened there. But, other than that, everything was good. Returned again 2 days later as a good-bye meal, and that was delicious! No appetizers order that time. I didn’t realize the keyboard guy was coming in. Had I known, then I would have not sit in that big table.

Got the gluten free pizza here. The pizza was fine and the toppings were pretty good. However, the price on the gluten free pie was significantly more expensive than other places that have similar quality pizza.

I haven’t had this place in over 10 yrs and I’m obsessed with Chicago style pizza. For the past few months I’ve been driving 30 minutes for UNOs and last night it was getting close to closing and I really wanted a deep dish. My father suggested Vitos because we passed it on mother’s day on the way to Sake. After one bite I couldn’t imagine why it had been so long. Maybe it was the price but it was worth it.

The meatball and steak grinders are still terrific. We only get takeout but the décor is something Robert Irvine should be called in for. Dark, dank and dated. I have had the pizza once and was not a fan. The whole place needs updating, perhaps the menu also. It just seems stuck in 1970.

I came here this weekend for the first time in over ten years to see if the food is still good or not, it turns out it is not as good as I thought it would be. I had the chicken parmesan dinner, the chicken and pasta were ok but the sauce looked and tasted like it was out of a jar or can and not a homemade one. I guess the owner did that in order to save some money. My friend I was with that night ordered the same dish I had and he was not very pleased with it either. For the prices they charge the food should be of better quality. I did notice that they still have a piano player like they did when the original owners owned the restaurant. I was there on a Friday night around 7PM and the place was dead and most of the tables were empty, it was not like that the last time I went here. This place is not what it used to be so probably will not be returning.

Let’s get this straight: I LOVEDVITO’S. My love affair has slowly soured over the past few years since the owner’s daughter has taken over running the business. The final straw was last Friday, when I ordered a large red pie with spinach and mozzarella(usually add sausage, but it’s Lent)… we were REALLY looking forward to a delicious pizza. What I received was an overcooked, dry disc with a very small amount of sauce and spinach… for all purposes inedible. There was no time to go all the way back across the bridge into Wethersfield(had to make a special trip), so we had to buy another pizza at Luna’s in Glastonbury. Vito’s needs to tune things up, and I WILLGLADLYRETURNANDDELETETHISREVIEW! FYI the pick-up entrance in the rear of the store gives waiting customers a thrilling look at the dishwashers scraping and spraying off dirty dishes… a real appetite-killer.

We generally order pizza for take out, because the service eating in is notoriously bad and really annoying(see other reviews). If you’re not a regular, you’re generally ignored by staff who are busy reading or talking to the regulars or to each other. Nothing new, definitely not addressed as promised in several replies. Décor is quite dated, but not really offensive. Food: Pizza is quite good. If you can get past the service, the meals served in the restaurant are good, bread is great, take out meals are inconsistent in both size and quality.

Staff was very rude more interested in personal conversations than helping customers, also they are pretty pricey for the food you get and that food is decent nothing special in anyway. If you are thinking vitos think again don’t believe the hype

Ordered the«deep dish» pizza. When I picked it up and handed me the box I could tell it wasn’t going to be very deep. It was a little thicker then normal conventional pizza. Highly disappointed.

Food is ok. Not my fav but the staff there is so rude apparently you order a large and get a small pizza. Walking in is like walking into a retirement home.

$ 9.95 all you can eat, every Tuesday. Went there today with a few friends. It was very good. Fresh trays of food come out. Pizza, pasta, fried shimp, mash patatoes, egg plant parm, etc. Every one was happy with the food. Service was great too. Deff worth a try.

Bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Food was great, service was excellent! They did not have a problem with substitutions, which was great! I would definitely go there again.

Came in search of authentic Chicago deep dish. As a Chicago expat my wife and I had a craving that needed to be fixed. Vito’s provided a very good pie, although authenticity left much to be desired. The crust was more buttery than most, but still lacked the cornmeal, cracker like consistency of a traditional Chicago deep dish. Sauce was buried underneath the cheese, and while it had good flavor, it was too smooth and needed more tomato chunks. The quality of the toppings were good and the meatballs were especially delicious. $ 26 for a large and we ended up taking home ½ the pizza, it’s as close as you’re going to come to chi-town in these parts, but if you’re looking for authentic, keep looking.

Ok everyone buckle up. I’m taking you on a roller coaster of an experience filled with some gut wrenching lows and some unbelievable highs. In defense of the restaurant this was Valentines Day at 6pm. Food: The complimentary bread was awesome it comes with rolls, a garlic bread topped with carmelized onions and little packages of butter. If I go again I will definitely get a side of garlic bread I’m sure its fantastic. We got the lobster ravioli as an app that comes with a vodka sauce, sun dried tomatoes, and topped with fresh asparagus. When our waitress brought it to the table I was assailed with a pungent smell that isn’t pleasant when associated with food. It tasted like something terribly wrong happened to the sauce. Both my wife and I gingerly ate a very small bite, which I’m thankful for because that was in the top worst 3 bites of my life(right behind swigging sour OJ). I’m about 90% sure the ravioli is frozen so right out of the gate it can’t be above pedestrian. I hope something was terribly wrong with my order, because I would hate to think that was the standard. We got a small meat chicago style deep dish stuffed pizza. Polar opposite from the appetizer, buttery crust, huge chunks of sausage, meatball pepperoni stuffed in the pizza with the bacon added to the top of the pizza along with the cheese. Very filling I had 2.5 pieces and was pretty stuffed. It also heats up well the next day in the oven. For dessert we got their special which was a chocolate mousse, also very good the chocolate was creamy and rich with a nice crust(perfect crust to filling ratio I hate when that is screwed up). Waitstaff/Ambiance: This is where the place failed miserably. So when we arrived we were seated at a 2 person hightop table that was butted up against 2 other tables. No worries we were the only ones there and choose the one farther into the restaurant. The table was super off balance and anything over 5lbs of pressure would have the entire table tottering like a seesaw. So we moved over to the middle table. While we were still waiting for our food another couple arrived so we moved once again this time to the table that was right by the hostess station. On one side of the table you have the hostess station and on the other side their was an empty keyboard about 2 feet from where I was sitting. Well wouldn’t you know this is the night that they have their keyboardist play so I could’ve given the guy a pretty sweet scalp massage without leaving my seat(surprisingly the music wasn’t too loud even though right next to us so that was nice). Once our waitress did finally arrive we could tell she was pretty frazzled because she got into a slight altercation with another worker about who had what tables. Upon taking out order I tried to add mushrooms to our pizza but she said that wasn’t allowed(I called the next day it is allowed), so normally I would have asked why but I could tell this wasn’t a night where she would be receptive to questions so I held my tongue. Looking around the restaurant I noticed everyone had bread at their table so I asked the host if it was complimentary and if so I would like some. well it was and it was awesome. She failed epically at keeping our drinks filled(we rationed our beverages as if we were in the desert so luckily we made it through the meal). Not at the fault of our waitress but our app arrived 2 minutes prior to our pizza. This wasn’t much of an inconvenience since we returned the app as soon as we tried it, but still less than desirable. I also had to ask for my leftover box of pizza after she’d disappeared ~15 min ago to box it up for us, I assumed when I asked they’d thrown it away considering the time. I did go to the bathroom and like most people I judge the cleanliness of the restaurant off of the bathroom. The vent fan in the bathroom was so caked with dust I could barely make out the outline of the grill(pretty gross), this certainly makes me question the cleanliness of the place(I should really stop watching Kitchen Nightmares it makes everyone think they know what the hell they’re talking about). Bottom Line: Pretty solid food and fair prices with the exception of the appetizer that belonged on Fear Factor. If I did go back it would be during the day or on a weeknight, because they were pretty slammed so I’m sure I would have had a more positive experience in that regard. I would go back for the pizza if I was in the area, but not so amazing I’m going to drive 35 minutes for the food alone. If in the area give it a try and know you can add additional toppings to their Chicago deep dish.

One of my «go to» dishes is Mussels Marinara. I order it a lot. Tonight, I am looking you straight in the eye, and telling you I just had the best Mussels Marinara I’ve ever had. Sautéed in wine garlic, basil and marinara sauce, it cost $ 9.95. It was more like a soup than a wine sauce. Many times, the broth is thin and watery and adds nothing to the dish. But this broth was fabulous, even more so because I was given the option to have it spicy, and it came out a Perfect 10. Loaded with onions and hot peppers and diced tomatoes and garlic. And the mussels? Fresh as can be. Huge and plump. Just excellent. Oh, and I almost forgot to rave about the bread bowl — excellent focaccia loaded with oniony and garlicky goodness, and knotted garlic rolls. The baked ziti was also top notch — a nice blend of cheese and sauce and perfect pasta. Service was very good — polite and attentive without being intrusive, We could not have been happier with the way our lunch went. We will be back for sure.
