Well, the visit to this place was not what I would expect from a dessert shop. I’m not sure if that’s what it was but the had ice cream albeit old. They also had a large sign for tamales outside and inside they had assorted foods like bags of chips, candy, cookies and boba. The place looks cluttered with old stuffed toys and looks like they tried to strike a 50’s theme at one point but got lost through the 60’s and 70’s with an array of items that lends itself more to clutter than anything else. The place appears unkept and not particularly appealing to have a meal at. The ice cream ordered was old and had a gooey sticky texture to it. Needless to say I didn’t eat it. It is located next to a movie theater but despite that fact, It didn’t seem to be drawing folks in for any of their offerings. It’s look and lack of appeal takes away from foot traffic which is a shame as the location has potential. I doubt I would go back for a visit anytime soon.

I go to Virgie’s about one to two times a week for their milk tea boba. I have read the other reviews that say the boba is bad, but I feel that it is more accurate to say that the drink is different. It does not taste like any milk tea boba that I have had any where else; overall, it isn’t the best or the worst, it is just unique. The product they sell is pretty much quick buy snacks, drinks and ice cream. So if you want something to munch on or something to drink for a good price, Virgie’s is the place to go. As far as the atmosphere, this place is the best. You can go in, sit down, and relax. You don’t even have to buy anything, it is that laid back. There are arcade machines, novelty toy machine, and classic toys along the wall that are for sell. If you are in the Uptown Whittier area, I recommend stopping by Virgie’s Café just to at least check it out.

Worst taro boba ever! It was all chalky, so gross. And it’s served over ice and not blended so the boba got hard and stuck together. Place just feels so dirty. Food doesn’t look appetizing at all. The staff is nice enough, prices are about average and only cool thing is all the stuff on the walls. Not coming back here

I like to support small business. However, I will not be returning back to this one. I ordered a double scoop ice cream($ 3). Mind you each scoop didn’t look that big. They served me a wrong flavor. She didn’t mind switching it. Which was great. My disappointment is in the consistency of the ice cream. Mind you it’s Thrifty’s ice cream which I’ve been eating for years. But it was grainy and watery which I presume is a combo of temperature and age.(Minus 2 stars). The shop needs some updating, at least some minor stuff as it makes the place look dirty.(Minus 2 stars). Additional free parking in the back.

The dude working was super rude and didn’t attend us well we had asked if he has boba and said there was enough for 1 the milk tea boba that my girlfriend order tasted as if it had came out of the toilet worst milk tea boba ever! I had asked for a root beer but unfortunately they were out of vanilla ice cream I asked the guy if he can make it with cookies and crème ice cream and he looked at me with an annoyed face even when giving my receipt and giving me my drink his way was very rude I WOULDNOTRECOMMENDTHISPLACEATALLGOSOMEWHEREELSE

This place is almost as kitschy as me! They have memorabilia all along the walls(that you can purchase) and it really reminded me of visiting my grandmothers house because she used to collect all kinds of sh*t and displayed it in her kitchen. I had a banana split which I haven’t had in ages! It was really good and filling. My kiddo had a scoop of cookies and creams and both of us were happy campers. Stop by when you are in the hood and remember to mention«Arleene is the best» for 0% off your purchase!

This place has a cute vintage feel to it. It has ice cream, hot dogs and coffee and little things like that. I had a milk tea with boba that was delicious. This has an old timey vibe that may be reminicent of old whittier. I’ve had an apple smoothie from here that was so delicous. I definetely recommend it.

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to Virgie’s but it’s one of the last, great«Hometown USA» places you’ll ever find. It’s a family owned place with a lot of heart and(if you’re a regular) all the latest in local news(gossip). Virgie’s got a heart of gold. She’s got a line of daughters that are all probably as tall as she is now. They’ve all grown up around that café and it makes it that much more special. And oh yeah… the food’s not bad either. Pop in on your way to the Village Cinemas around the corner.
