Great Food! The price you pay to get a tasty unlimited topped pita masterpiece is awesome! I guess this is kinda like the subway of pita places except your meat is cooked on the grille and you can have some of your toppings cooked on the grille as well. Then everything gets wrapped up with fresh veggies and topped with sauce if you like and it is so tasty. I wish there was one of these by my job, I’d be there several times a week.

Great place and great food. They are a consistent option for a quick and cheap meal. I enjoy going here for lunch before class. Pita pit will always have a special place in my heart, it’s a classic college spot.(Get the gyro)

I hesitated to try this place due to its proximity to the college(all the places near w&m have a certain level of diveyness that I guess appeals to the kids). As expected dirty floors and tables. the drink machine was empty of anything I wanted. The staff knew of the issue but neglected to say anything at the counter. Then all of the items are cooked on the same flat top griddle. So your vegetarian meal is cooked next to the bacon. When questioned on this she stated they cook the veg at the top and meat at the bottom, really? The men’s room was not as disgusting as I thought it would be and the wraps were passable but not by much, is for that I gave them 2 stars not the one that I initially felt they should get. Pass this one by

Pita Pit is somewhere my friends and I used to go to a lot. While the idea of eating at a place that was like a Middle Eastern Subway was initially very exciting, it didn’t take me long to realize that the food was ultimately lackluster. Most of the ingredients you can use leave something to be desired. The sauces especially often left me feeling queasy at their tastes. That being said, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the frozen yogurt is just fine.

I ate here two years ago and the food was decent. This year the food is not great at all. I ordered a wrap with chicken. The style was Greek so the meat was supposed to be spiced and juicy. The meat was chewey, tasted old, and had been cooked on the grill where beef had also been cooked. The beef was overwhelming on the chicken. The manager ensured I got another wrap with just grilled chicken in a timely manner. This was much better. Just very average. They did give me a free cookie for the first wrap and stated they would look into the meat. I appreciated these gestures as I truly feel something was off with the meat. However, not even a minute of telling me they were going to look into the meat a woman also ordered the wrap I originally had. They pulled her meat from the same place! In the event the meat was bad they would be out another sandwich or make someone ill. I will never eat at the Williamsburg location again. I gave two stars for the very friendly staff and their attempt to correct the issue of the first sandwich.

After a rather bland experience with the black bean pita on my first visit, I made a much better selection this time with the Chicken Souvlaki. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the portion size was decent. I added the tzatziki sauce, feta, guac spread and some veggies and it was an all-around tasty, fresh and wholesome lunch. While it costs roughly $ 9 for a meal with chips and a drink, I think the price is reasonable considering the quality of the food. I’ll add that I was offered the guacamole spread at no additional cost. The service was on-point once again. Despite being less than a mile from CW, I was told by staff that once W&M is out for the summer, they are always dead. So for summer tourists looking for a less-crowded option still close to the action, this would be a hit.

I was really surprised at this place. The name The Pita Pit made me think of some healthy place that’s not fulfilling and tasty like a burger joint. I was wrong. The place reminds me of a fusion of subway + chipotle. You order the meat/type then select all the different veggies you want. I ordered Mediterranean chicken + lamb gyro pita and loaded up on the veggies/condiments like lettuce, cheeses, avacado, jalepeno, olives etc… with chipotle mayo. It was delicious and fulfilling. I would prefer this place over subway. The guy making my pita was really nice and did this awkward but funny cup flipping trick when I ordered my beverage. There are also a ton of drink flavors cuz they have that fancy all in one coke dispenser. I will return.

Think Chipotle and then replace the ingredients with a healthier selection of veggies and replace tortilla’s with pita’s. End result is a quick meal that shouldn’t be missed of you’re on campus or in the historic area.

Poor customer service– eating dinner on the patio and the place closes and locks the door. No warning/offer to refill drinks! We had only sit down to eat for a few minutes. Disappointed!

The Pita Pit is a good, cheap meal. The staff was very nice and quick. The pita and the ingredients were pretty good and it’s nice you can choose several toppings. It wasn’t the best or freshest pita, I’ve had, but it was pretty good. It’s a Chipotle-style/factory line style of ordering.

So I decided to check out the Pita Pit in Williamsburg for lunch yesterday. I was hopeful. Pita normally brings to mind fresh quality healthy ingredients. Unfortunately this is not at all what I got. It may have been the item that I ordered so I think I will give it another chance but basically this was the sub way of Pita restaurants and operates in much the same way. You pick your pita type then you tell them which veggies and sauces to put in. Not a bad idea if the ingredients were a little better. I think the biggest problem that I had was the quality of the meat. It was very chewy and something that was in there, I suspect the bacon, was near impossible to get through. Unfortunately I threw half of the Pita away. I did pick a piece of chicken out and it tasted by itself just so I could get an idea of what the primary protein tasted like, and it was okay but really nothing special. Another issue was that this really wasn’t served as you would expect pita bread to be served and the pita itself had more a tortilla texture than a pita texture which is probably why it looked more like a burrito than a pita. They basically split the pita in half so that it was flat, put the fillings in and rolled it up burrito style. The pita bread was very thin and completely turned to mush once the wet ingredients were added so as soon as I took the first bite it ruptured and poured inferior ingredients everywhere. I believe they may have also pulled the pitta«bread»(and I use that term loosely) from a steamer or put it in a steamer before serving it to me which if I am correct in that assumption, just exacerbated the problem with the«Bread» being way too delicate. The price were not terribly high, But considering the quality of the product even that did not save this experience. It was about $ 8 for a Pita not even as big as a 6 inch sub and a small bag of chips. The one good thing I can say about this place is that the employee who worked the register was very friendly and polite. After having written all of this it makes me remember how much I didn’t enjoy the food so on second thought I don’t think a second chance is not in the future. If your in the mood for a low quality Pitaritto then maybe this is the place for you. If you want a real Pita with good ingredients for now maybe you should make it at home.

Very friendly service, fresh food, healthy food all in one spot. Good selection of Pita fillings combinations are available, even some that are not on the menu were offered by the gentleman behind the counter. I went with the Southwest pita, very tasty, I was happy with the Pita I will return again to try other Pita Pit offerings!

Mmmmm… delicious, delicious pitas… Super yummy, good ingredients, and you can get it any way you want!!! Sometimes gets a little messy(too much sauce or filling and the pita falls apart towards the end…) but worth it. Try the tzatziki and(when available) the pulled pork(but not together). Owner and staff are very friendly. And it’s open late(when college is in session); that might be a first for Williamsburg.

I love Pita Pit. I only wish they’d opened up before the second semester of my senior year! This store is in a prime location right across the street from William and Mary in the new Tribe Square retail/housing combo building. The staff, though a bit green, is pleasant and usually very friendly, and the pitas are delicious. I’ve never had any ingredient taste stale or dry, and they’re great about adding«just a little more» cheese or sauce or whatever it is. The prices are very reasonable at about $ 5-$ 8 for the pitas(which are quite filling) and you can add chips and a drink for a total of about $ 10. Best of all, they’re open very late during the academic year, and your body will appreciate you choosing Pita Pit over Wawa mac n cheese. As a sidenote, the Pita Pit staff at this location have been excellent about catering to the local college community — many student orgs have taken to doing their profit shares at Pita Pit since they make it fun and profitable. Student volunteers go and work behind the counter for 2 – 3 hours making pitas, and then they get to keep 30% of whatever they make in that time period for their organization. Everyone I know who has done it had a lot of fun and made a considerable amount of money. I definitely plan to come back when I visit!

I’m pretty sure Pita Pits only exist in college towns. With that being said, I’m glad one has ended up in Williamsburg. It’s not the best food of your life, but you can comfort yourself by knowing you aren’t paying too much, you’re eating your vegetables, and you might get a date Friday night if you sit next to the right coed.

First impression: A great addition to the Tribe Square complex and William & Mary’s campus more generally, Pita Pit offers healthy, portable, and tasty vittles from the early hours until late at night. This location, a franchise of a small national chain, is a bit like a glorified Subway(which, ironically, sits next door). Don’t write it off just yet, though, because the ways that Pita Pit differs from your standard fast casual sandwich joint make all the difference. Enter the oddly spacious restaurant, sidle up the counter, and you’ll have your choice of a number of pita options, ranging from the«Awakin’ With Bacon» to chicken shawarma. Pitas range from about $ 5.00 — 7.00. After you place your order, move down the counter, where in a somewhat confusing process you’ll choose extra free toppings to go on your chosen pita — cheeses, vegetables, and even guacamole, a nice bonus. In just a few minutes your hot pita ingredients will be synthesized with your topping extras and rolled up like some sort of Mediterranean burrito — very nice. The Williamsburg Pita Pit is unique among its national neighbors because it also offers a small frozen yogurt bar on your left upon entering. For $ 0.40 an ounce or so, fill up on one of several flavors and add toppings of your choice from the slightly underwhelming cabinet to the left. It’s a sweet treat for sure. William & Mary students have all sorts of sandwich options in the area, ranging from Wawa’s 24⁄7 cheesesteaks to deli hoagies and even the aforementioned Subway subs. How will Pita Pit differentiate itself from the masses? It’s a good question, and one worth asking, but this reviewer imagines that its late hours on the weekends(until 3AM on Fridays and Saturdays!), friendly service, and combination of novelty, taste, and convenience will enable this promising restaurant to nab the William & Mary Express dollars necessary to make it a Richmond Road cornerstone. Welcome to Williamsburg, Pita Pit!
