We have been coming to Senju for a year now & still love it! Sushi is fresh, the miso soup is great, salad & dressing tastes amazing. They also let you make your own sushi! I don’t eat seafood so they have many options for me, my husband loves his seafood & options are endless! All employees are so friendly. I like that they bring you a warm washcloth for your hands when you first sit down. And of course you get what you pay for, it is a bit pricey but it’s worth it!

Slowest place I’ve ever been too, every time I come in here it ALWAYS like one table full of people so I questioned the food or service. I ordered the Philadelphia roll and right when I bit into it I almost threw up from how gross the raw salmon was, it wasn’t even cold, it was warm. That’s disgusting. No fresh food or what? And so I asked if I could order something else and it was my servers first day and he said they would have to charge me for both rolls. Um excuse me? If someone doesn’t even food that they ordered and had to order something else they should not have to pay for it… Never going there again

Wow. Probably the worst experience I have ever had at a sushi restaurant. The service was fantastic, but it would be hard pressed to be bad with only 4 tables occupied on a Wednesday night. That probably should of been my first clue that the food was not great and extremely over priced for what you get. I ordered a seven piece nigiri mix that came with a small California roll, miso soup and salad. With a small Asahi beer my dinner was $ 36. !!! You have got to be kidding me !! The fish did not taste bad, but it didn’t have that super fresh taste I prefer when eating raw seafood. The soup was also almost not edible because it was so salty.

This is my first time at Senju, was excited to try something new but sorry to say I will not be going back. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and small house salad, and I spent $ 17. The roll was literally nothing but rice and shrimp, and a «salad» that was just lettuce and dressing… Oh wait, I shouldn’t leave out the few scraggly crispy things on top. I’ve never been so thankful for wasabi and ginger, because that was the most flavorful part of the whole meal. I don’t think adding a few more ingredients to your dishes is going to break your budget. Give people something to go back for.

Hit or Miss. Sometimes 5 stars, sometimes 1 star… I always have the same thing — philly role and sashimi… with cloudy sake.

I’m making my once a year trip to Santa Rosa and I was craving a little Japanese comfort food for a late lunch. My first choice was Ume, but their lunch hour ends at 2:30 and I was cutting it close, so I selected Senju instead. Turned out, Senju has the same hours at lunch, but was posted incorrectly here. Luckily, they were nice enough to let me in even though it was 2:15 by the time I arrived. I ordered one of my favorite Japanese food, sukiyaki as a lunch set. The soup was yummy and salad portion was generous. All is good until I got«beef and broccoli» instead of my sukiyaki. The amount of tenderizer in the beef was incredible, but the biggest problem is that I wasn’t expecting Panda Express when I came here. I found out later that the owner was Chinese. Not surprisingly. And I sort of wondered if she ever had real Japanese cuisine at all besides the raw fish. The server was really nice, but the food wasn’t. Sorry for the low rating.

Food was fantastic and fast. Servers paid a lot of attention to our party and we never went without. Atmosphere was fun and light and the staff was generally thankful we came in to enjoy a meal. Lots of variety in their menu and definitely something for everyone.

Been coming here for years & probably will continue, but not as often because their prices are getting to high.

Craving Japanese food tonight and our regular Ume is closed so here we went. What a great surprise! While it does not have the same ambiance as Ume(green carpet but great wood everywhere), the food was excellent! Greetings as soon as we walked in from not only the sushi chefs but the wait staff, our waitress was friendly with exceptional service. We had the appetizer combo tempura, tempura shrimp roll and #2 Star cups which are hand made crab ragoons. The tempura was larger than expected with two very large shrimp, 2 pieces of broccoli, green beans, carrots and potatoes. Everything crunchy but the taste of the food shone through with no greasy taste at all. You could actually taste the carrot! Home made crab ragoons were the best we have ever had and their version of a sweet and sour sauce is citrus based, not sugary at all and made by them in the kitchen. The crab ragoons were large and not only could we SEE the crab, we could taste it as well. Finally our shrimp tempura roll was crispy and delicious. Prices are reasonable, food is wonderful. Again not the ambiance of Ume but equal in everything else! We will be back!

So I walked in with three people and we say at the sushi bar. We came in around right, so we figured we would have enough time to sit down and eat. As we got our water the lady that sat us down kept rushing us to place our order. It was really uncomfortable with how we were being rushed and the people I was with were starting to change their mind. We decided to pay for the miso we did order and the lady, who seemed like maybe the manager or owner, got extremely frustrated and said next time we come in she’s going to charge us five dollars a piece just to sit down. Really. Don’t worry, there obviously won’t be a next time. Next time don’t bring you’re anger to the workplace.

ONEBADAPPLERUINEDTHEPIE I used to love this place. I’ve been a patron ever since they first opened their doors. Senju was, in fact, my first sushi experience; I’ve taken dates here and the food has been solid all these years. Dany is an amazing server and a lovely human being. We went to senju last night for my little sisters birthday, makes sense because its a family favorite. The food was tasty and came out faster than expected, I especially enjoyed the Uni. My mother elected to purchase a bottle of Chardonnay, La Crema to be exact. The price was 35 $ about double what it would cost at Safeway, no biggie, right? She politely said«excuse me» to dany and ordered the overpriced(albeit expected) bottle of wine and what do I hear? The busboy whom I believe to be the son of the owners mimicking my mother’s voice in the kitchen – which we were adjacent to. WORDTOTHEWISE, DIPSH*T ITS A HALFWALLSEPARATINGTHEKITCHENFROMTHEEATINGAREA. I’m not an angry person nor am I unreasonable, In fact, I look for any excuse to find the positive side of restaurants, if you read my other reviews I’m sure you’ll see that. But this a**hole, This guy who owes his locosté polo and his true religion jeans to patrons like ourselves – only to sag them so the world has the misfortune of looking at his sh*t stained underwear has the gull to be rude to my mother who dropped 300 dollars on a near empty restaurant. When he came out of the back with a grin on his face, he saw what death looks like. I looked him Straight in the windows to his wretched soul and he shriveled up like the slug he is. His father saw the interaction and knew his kin had done wrong but did nothing. Look. I’m a chef by trade. Senju makes great food, they have great staff save for this vaccuum of pride. If you worked under me and you acted anything like you did for my family being fired on the spot would be the least of your concerns. Youre a disgrace to your family who works hard for what they’ve accomplished and you dishonor the food industry. In short, I wish you the same misery you pollute the world with.

We called in for pickup, since we were staying near by at WorldMark resort, and they did a nice tray. We ordered 4 different rolls & they were all delicious. We’ll be back next time.

It’s been over 4 years since I have been at Senju. I was hesitant to go but I wanted Japanese food on a Sunday and this restaurant was the only one open for lunch. Ume was closed for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised with their sushi and sashimi plate. It was very good. The fish were fresh. My husband had yakisoba and it was very good. I like the sesame oil touch. I think owners changed or they got better cooks. I still have to ask about the udon and try their tonkatsu to see if it has improved.

Their dinner Bento box is $ 20.50. That is expensive for what you get. You can choose brown rice for an extra charge. I ordered the teriyaki chicken with tempura. I like knowing what the vegetables are. I had to ask about a few of them. The miso and salad were good. The fried banana with sesame seed ice cream was interesting. I can’t describe the flavor, but it wasn’t bad. I would still come back. I always do. The servers are always super friendly and are so glad you came.

Very good spot for that sushi fix here in Windsor. Full menu and very delightful sushi chefs. Friendly staff and great ambiance in this very Japanese styled restaurant. My chef tonight was Sinat and she prepared my last roll of Unagi and avocado that was delicious !

My gosh, we had one friendly server! She seemed to know many customers and those she just met were made to feel like regulars. Anyhow! I loved the look/ambiance of the place. Very clean and simple. The potstickers were very good.(Doesn’t beat Ting Hau but these might come in 2nd place.) The fried oysters: shiver: were not my thing but the others in my group LOVED them. I ordered a Bento box so I could try a few items: WALNUTPRAWNS! Oh wow, they were sooooo good. The sauce, the nuts, the breading, the prawn. A perfect little package. The chicken teriyaki was actually really good. It’s not something that usually draws my attention but I was quite pleased. Not too sweet, very tender. The tempura veggies were pretty okay and the California rolls were good! All in all, it was VERY pricey meal for the 3 of us but it was a very good experience too.
