You definitely get what you pay for. Can’t expect much for $ 4.99 — one meat &2 sides. I chose the Pepper Steak, fries & rice. Added soy sauce galore. My bf had the Bourbon Chicken with fried rice & one spring roll. He said the chicken was a little too sweet. Filling, but not delicious. Again, can’t expect too much for this price, and this being in a busy outlet mall food court the day after Black Friday doesn’t help.

Lotus Express offers very generic Chinese food in the Potomac Mills food court. The food is ready to be served, sort of cafeteria style, pick your items. They offer several chicken items(orange, kung pao, pepper,.), pepper steak, tofu w eggplant, lo mein noodles, fried rice, egg rolls, noodle soups, and cold drinks(Coke fountain sodas, bottled water, and can sodas). For combos, they offer Special Combo($ 4.99) 1 meat/2 sides, 2 Item Combo($ 5.99) with 1 side, and 3 item combo($ 6.49) with 1 side. I stopped by for dinner takeout and decided on the Special Combo($ 4.99 plus tax). Initially, I wanted noodles, mixed vegetables, and grilled fish as my choices. The older woman working here was already scooping fried rice into the box as I said noodles and she scooped back the rice into the pan and gave me noodles. I got mixed vegetables next, but I pointed to the fish and was told it would be $ 5.99(??-the sign for the $ 4.99 Special Combo read 1 meat and it should really read 1 chicken item). At least I got warning of the price. I chose the Kung Pao Chicken instead to keep the price of the meal at $ 4.99 plus tax. I declined the offer for a drink(no prices posted) since I already had a soda in my hand from another place in the mall. While the portion of food was good size, the food was not great. The noodles were very soft and oily and the mixed vegetables(broccoli, onions, peppers) were oily too. The main dish was not authentic Kung Pao Chicken had mix of chopped chicken pieces with some fat/tendon pieces, onions, and hot chili peppers(no water chestnuts, celery, peanuts?). This dish lacked flavor. I managed to finish the food minus the not eating fat/chewy pieces of chicken. I would not recommend this place for food court Chinese food. Panda Express would be a better option.
