We met a lot of our friends here on Sunday night, and we were a little worried. First, the name of the restaurant makes you think basically salt pork and jerky and hardened arteries. I like salt, but my doctor tells me to avoid it and my already tight wedding ring makes me think avoiding salt is a good idea. We also pulled up and saw that it was valet parking and people outside were wearing suits, but we were pretty casual with an eight month old in tow. Thankfully, when we got inside we saw other people wearing casual clothes with many other children of various ages, so that settled us. We also had the party room in the back, so we didn’t have to worry too much about our clothes or the volume of a baby. Our waitress was awesome. She spent plenty of time making sure our drinks stayed full and that all orders were correct, and along those same lines she also clarified that their restaurant doesn’t do gratuity for large parties. That’s another great feature, in addition to having such a great menu. We had the smoked salmon tostatas, which were possibly the highlight of the meal, for an appetizer. We both had burgers, both of which were good, but not necessarily the best we’ve ever had. The dessert we got so excited about, an apricot crème brûlée, was sadly out, which we only found out after three of the couples had ordered it, but that does happen. My wife and I settled for the blueberry bread budding instead, which was good, but not quite what we had wanted. All in all, we’re excited to come back here and try out a few different dishes. It’s a great place, although I don’t think it’s quite at the same level of Century House Tavern across the street.

These guys do not disappoint! After being at original location many time, I met some friends at their part of a town. Saturday night was busy and there was a wait for table but we opted to start at bar. Everything was excellent. We were sited with reasonable time. Best restaurant on street for sure

My husband and I stopped in for lunch and opted to sit at the bar, where we were very kindly greeted by the bartender, David, and a server who was picking up her drinks from the service bar. Immediately noticed the decent wine selection, with everything from moderately priced glasses and bottles to my personal fave Silver Oak. I selected the Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc(which was absolutely delicious) and my husband chose a Grey Goose Dirty Martini with Bleu Cheese stuffed olives. We actually had a hard time deciding what to order because of the variety on the menu. I am an extremely picky eater, and, even I had plenty to choose from. We opted to try several appetizers and chose the Crispy Shrimp, Louisiana Egg Rolls, Raw Oysters and the Mussels. While waiting for our meal we had nice conversations with David and several members of the waitstaff. We also had time to check out our surroundings, and loved the décor! They definitely spared no expense on everything from the cutlery to the light fixtures. We were pleasantly surprised by the presentation and portion size of each of our appetizers and they all tasted delicious! My only complaints are that the Crispy Shrimp and the Louisiana Eggrolls weren’t exactly«crispy». The shrimp were flavorful, but I recommend adding a drop of Sriracha to each shrimp to give them a little boost. The filling of the eggrolls was delicious, but the wrapper was a tad thick, probably because of the heartiness of the filling. My husband absolutely devoured the Mussels and oysters. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the service and food, and will definitely be repeat customers.

Didn’t have a pleasant experience here this time. We waited to be seated during lunch time around noon. Valet is required regardless of whether or not it’s complementary, you still have to tip. Once we were seated we waited 25 minutes to be served. After I got up and asked the hostess if we even had a waiter or waitress she rudely responded with«uhm and where are you even sitting» and my response was«uhm where you seated us», she pointed at the table and went back to her hostess position and greeting people. We then waited for her to go get someone. Service was just extremely slow and the only reason they are getting a bad review now is because the people(4 families total) that were seated after us got their water/food before we were even greeted by our server. No thanks. Will not come back here to this location.

Have eaten at salt twice again since my last review. Both times the food was very good. I had the sautéed north GA mountain trout first time around and last week they had a special lamb meatloaf that was extremely good. As always from before, was greeted very nicely and the bartender was excellent with her service.

We’ve been dying to try this location and finally made Tuesday for lunch. The patio out front is lovely and has fantastic bistro lights. We will have to come back on a crisp fall night. The hostess was prompt and gracious and seated us at a comfortable table for 2 along the wall with one seat being along the wall in a lovely built in bench and one being a standard chair. The server arrived at our table not more than a minute later. She was friendly and helpful. We opted to start off with grilled oysters. They were fantastic. Not overcooked with just the right touch of shallots. Local favorite Reformation Brewery is on tap here and we enjoyed a glass of providence. I love it when local eateries feature local brews, kudos guys. For our entrees we selected fish tacos and salmon sandwich. The dishes were huge when they arrived about 10 minutes later with beautiful presentation. The manager checked on our table about the same time. The shells on the fish tacos were fresh and crisp, we opted for the fish to be grilled and it was a nice texture and not overcooked. The cream sauce on top although excellent isn’t my cup of tea, I prefer a vinegerette based sauce but again that is a preference and the sauce was still nice. All in all the fish tacos were excellent. The salmon sandwich was on a lovely baguette dressed with remoulade sauce, red onion slices, tomato and lettuce. The salmon itself was tender, still pink and a good firm and flaky but not tough texture. I wish the remoulade had more spice or flavor to it as it came off a bit flat but the sandwich was great overall. The fries were fresh, hand cut, very good flavor and salt. The atmosphere of this restaurant really is comfortable and inviting. The exposed brick, Edison bulbs, and industrial feel bring soho to Woodstock. What a lovely addition to downtown.

The most AMAZING service! Tried the Sheppard’s Pie despite never having had lamb. It wasn’t to my taste, but I didn’t say anything to the waiter as it was my choice of menu item and nothing to do with the food itself. The waiter noticed that I was only picking at my food and IMMEDIATELY offered to take the dish off of our tab and get something else for me. I WASSHOCKED! I have NEVER had a similar experience anywhere else. Add that to the incredible atmosphere and heavenly food(seriously… those mussels were to die for!) we will be coming back again and again!!!

Good experience here today. Big, spacious restaurant with a nice patio right in downtown Woodstock. The food was very good and I really enjoyed my salad(kale & pecorino); nice, fresh kale, well-seasoned shrimp and a very generous portion. I also took a couple of bites of my mom’s shepherd’s pie. This, too, was good — probably too heavy of a dish for my liking, but that’s how shepherd’s is supposed to be so not a knock there. I would say they were a little heavy with the salt on my sister’s fries, so if you’re sensitive about that make sure you ask for adjustments accordingly. I’d like to come back and have a couple drinks in the bar area. It was very spacious and inviting. Overall, great experience and we’ll be back.

Unfortunately, after much anticipation I cannot say that I was blown away by either the food or service at the Salt Factory in Woodstock, GA. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits and my dining partner ordered the black and blue burger. My shrimp and grits were served in a large bowl and there was a limited amount of grits and 6 tiny shrimp that were swimming in a pool of sauce. It is a spicy dish which was probably the most exciting thing about the meal. Bread and a side salad are not included so if ordered separately it would have been close to a $ 30 lunch. The burger was ok but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was nice and the service was so so. I probably would not go back!

This was my second time at this restaurant. First time, it was pretty good. This time, not so much. The 2 burgers me and my boyfriend ordered were supposed to be cooked medium well… so we got the pinkest burgers in the southeast, naturally.

You’ve heard of impulse shopping, right? Well, Salt Factory’s new Woodstock location will definitely induce impulse dining! I’ve been here twice in the past month and recommend it hands down — down and around their pulled pork tacos or their Woodstock Gastropub Burger for starters. The pulled pork tacos will have you squealing with desire. There is so much flavor in those made-from-scratch hard shell tacos. Their signature French Onion soup is unlike any version of it you’ve ever slurped — in a good way. It’s like this concentrated essence of all that is great about French Onion soup with none of the bad(the mess of cutting into a thick slice of bread floating atop this bowlful of broth make it spill all over, the drip-drip-drippiness onto your beard — or your chin). Their version is what all other restaurants should switch to. Let’s start a petition now! The Woodstock Burger is the only one I’ve tried from their mouth-watering Gastropub menu. If this one is any indication, my other favorite burger joints are going to be putting out a Missing Persons A.P.B. on me because Salt Factory has assembled all the right stuff in this one. Farm fresh ingredients, bacon chow chow, a bun that dares you to question the whole carb controversy, and beef cooked to perfection. As I write this, I’m looking at the clock already to see how close it is to my next meal time. The fries are cut daily and ganged up with the buns to dash all the anti-carb talk to the curb. =) I think I had their margarita on my first visit. I don’t remember. But, it was good. This second visit, I had their white Sangria. I am sure it is a hit — but it wasn’t with me. I left more than half the glass when I paid my bill. Sorry, Salt, but it wasn’t the fruity burst that I am accustomed to in a Sangria. Check out the white Sangria at MADE Kitchen in Alpharetta for what I think is a contemporary version of this standard. The Salt version was pretty much just white wine. Which is fine unless you ordered a Sangria. Attentive wait staff speedily took care of every need. Front patio with tables-a-plenty is canine-friendly(and I brought my pooch the first time). Very effective oscillating fans keep the breezes gently coming from all directions to combat the heat. I dined inside the second time and it’s handsomely appointed with a long wall of upholstered bench seating. A huge bar with televisions. Raised seating in the middle of the floor for parties of 8 give the place lots of group options. So glad they opened up here. They’ll be seeing more of me and I hope we’ll see you there, too!

we sat at the patio. our server wasn’t too nice she wasn’t rude but she wouldn’t smile or be pleasant. She will say things but wouldn’t look at us she will be looking somewhere else while talking to us. The food wasn’t great nor terrible but I don’t see a good reason to come back there. The only nice thing is the complimentary valet parking and he was very nice and attentive.

Was thankful our party ordered the Calamari and Mussels, they were great — worse part was that I ordered a London Broil that was neither and NOT how I asked for it to be cooked. Not once, it was drenched in a chive Olive Oil mix that made it inedible to me or the others. We told the waitress and she just shrugged it off. Since the manager never made it to talk to us guess I know where I will NOT go next time to spend $ 150 on a meal for 4.

I really hate to give this place two stars. Being in downtown Woodstock I had such high hopes. My wife and I have now gone two times. The first experience was not good at all and we were hoping that it was only a fluke. The only thing that was worth eating on our first visit was the Taco appetizer. Several weeks later we decided to give it another try… and had the same experience. This time we had the Korean BBQ wings as an appetizer(PRETTYGOOD), London Broil(EXTREMELYSALTY) and the Italian Pizza(VERYSOGGY, DOUGHYANDSALTY). The only enjoyable part of dinner was the awesome musician. If I was rating just the musician I would give him FIVE stars.

Fantastic location in downtown Woodstock. Very busy on a Friday night, but our group enjoyed cocktails and beers at the bar while waiting. Music is a little loud, so not the place to go for an intimate date or conversation. Service was superb. Appetizers ordered: lettuce wraps and calamari — delicious! I ordered the salmon tostadas as my dinner and they did not disappoint. Fresh, light, tasty! My girlfriend and I discovered their Hummingbird drink, made with elderberry liquor and champagne… what a drink! Light, refreshing, and a little too easy to kick back! Great place to hang with friends!

Not a huge fan of valet and there was no choice but to use it unless you wanted to walk from around the block or more. There were many open spaces but valet only. With that said onto the inside… Our waiter was great at explaining everything to us as this was our first visit there. We ordered 2 appetizers which were baked oysters and the egg rolls. My husband and daughter liked the oysters but I am not an oyster eater so I’m not sure how they are. The egg rolls tasted good but the wrapper was somewhat chewy. I ordered the fish and chips and the chips were hand cut and tasty. The fish was thick and pretty oily. It needed the tartar sauce to season it. The cole slaw that comes with it is super spicy and wish it was mentioned beforehand. My husband had the London broil and loved it. My daughter ate the mussels appetizer for dinner and it was HUGE! Worth the price on those. We decided to do a dessert which they rotate often but it was an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. There were apples there for sure but not a single«crisp» to be found unless the puffs of cinnamon dough that were chewy were supposed to be the crisp parts. If so there were many chewy dough parts. Overall my family liked what they had even though everything I seemed to pick every dud this particular evening. Willing to give it another go and just skip dessert.

Lamar was a awesome server! He cracked jokes to my boyfriend and I the entire time. It was our first time eating at Salt and Lamar gave wonderful descriptions of several items he loved on the menu. We ordered oysters for an appetizer and I am not an oyster fan at all and loved them! They had a yummy Parmesan crunch to them that made the texture not slimy. They were great. We split a small Caesar salad after and had the white pizza with spinach, mushrooms, and shrimp and it was soooo good! I’ve been wanting a really good white pizza lately and that one was exactly what I was looking for. We will be back!

I came here for lunch with a friend and really enjoyed it. We both had the Scottish salmon sandwich, which was delicious. We had the oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer, very very good. My friend was unhappy with her Manhattan but the bar produced another one more to her liking. Our waiter, Tully, was delightful. He answered all my friends questions and she had a lot! I would highly recommend Salt for lunch. There is a nice outdoor seating area if you prefer to sit outside which is what we should have done when we went for dinner… Dinner was a party of five and we sat at a large table inside. We were looking forward to being able to chat and enjoy each others company which was next to impossible for two reasons. The first being that they had a live musician and he was just too loud. It made it really difficult to hear each other. The restaurant is too small for live music in my opinion. If they want live music, they should lose the speakers. The second reason was that our waitress, although very nice, was constantly interrupting our meal with unasked for drinks. Your drink would be ¾ full and she would remove it and give you a new one. She was also constantly refilling our water. I had mussels and she brought me a bowl for the shells but came over twice to remove the bowl and give me a new one. Why I needed a new one, I don’t know. I have never been to a restaurant where the service was more annoying. She was at our table so much she might as well have pulled up a chair. Everyone did enjoy their food, however the London broil ordered medium rare was a little too rare and the salmon ordered medium was more like medium well. I will be back for lunch but I will not be back for dinner. You are paying too much to eat there to not be able to enjoy it..
