Tudo no capricho! Voltarei!

The duck was delicious. Crispy skin on top of soft, succulent meat. The salad was cheese was a welcome, well thought out, vegetable that is often lacking at other restaurants that we found. The warm cheese blended perfectly with the greens and dressing. The grilled vegetables were simply seasoned vegetables. Cooked well, very tasty. The shrimp casserole was a miss-step for me. I wouldn’t call it a casserole myself, more of a stir fry. Shrimp and chick peas pan fried. There was too much salt for my taste. Bread with tomato. I’d like this at every meal. Super slow service, though it seemed like the servers were a bit in over their heads with the number of people that came in for dinner. It took us quite a while to even get some wine. A quite Unilocal search shows that this is a spot on some tasting tour, so you might have a crowd to contend with. This was a good meal, and I would go back. I keep going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that the service is usually better than this.

Excellent meal here last night. The apple, walnut and warm goats cheese salad was divine. The omelette so light. The potatoes… Yum. It was all delicious and very reasonable. Service was great. Highly recommend this unassuming restaurant if you love great food.

Another one who went to Belmonte with the Taste of Barcelona tour. This was our 3rd and last stop, so we were all stuffed, and there was more lovely food to come.

This was our second stop on «The Barcelona Taste» tapas tour. I would say the best stop, because of one particular, amazing reason: the Patatons(salted baby potatoes) with Romesco sauce. OMG!!! I couldn’t stop eating them. I felt bad for the others on the tapas tour because I definitely took these down. I also really enjoyed the plate of grilled vegetables. Sounds simple, but they do them right. This place also serves one of the better beers in Spain: Estrella Galicia. Do yourself a favor and sign up for«The Barcelona Taste» tapas tour. The stories about the food and owners and the company makes it that much more special. If your tour doesn’t stop here, then just try it another day.

This is a terrific restaurant, the best we ate at in Barcelona. We went there first as part of a tapas tasting tour and it was so good we ate there 3 more times during the week we were in Barcelona. As others have mentioned, the owners are lovely(Merce, who runs the front of the restaurant hugged my wife when we were leaving for the last time) and the vibe is great… very relaxed and non-touristy. The patatons(potatoes) with romesco are sublime… one of the best tastes I’ve ever had(best eaten upside down so the romesco hits your taste buds before the salty potato skin). The escalavida(smoky grilled vegetables) was also astounding for what, like the potatoes mentioned above, is ostensibly a pretty simple dish. The tortilla with carmelized onions was also great. To drink, we had cava as well as the non-alcoholic mosto, which is basically a rich grape juice/sangria without the alcohol. A real find; highly recommended.

Went here as part of a food tour and had a great meal. The tapas and the drinks were great. The wine porron was a hit. A few of us tried to some wine from the porron Catalan style with our arms«fully extended». Successfully get all of the wine in your mouth without spilling is a bit tricky.

It was so good we went here two nights in a row while on vacation. Much care and artistry put into their dishes and also their drinks(e.g., their mosto). Try their smoky escalavida(but only if you like the Catalunyan mix of eggplant, peppers, pickles, etc). Lovely owners, lovely vibe, and they do speak a bit of English. Our favorite restaurant in Barcelona.

Pretty good little, unpretentious place with some nice, down-home Catalonian tapas. Our waitress was extremely helpful(spoke little English but understood what we were ordering and asking). Great salads. The potato appetizer was a little strange. Food came quickly and our waitress checked on us frequently. Very reasonably priced and a good selection of wines. Great place to go if you’re looking for a mid-priced meal with friendly staff and good food. Very enjoyable experience.

Don’t worry about the other Unilocal reviews that say they ate here 3 years ago(I’ve been to tons of horrid places that were terrific three years ago) — the place is still fantastic! Maybe it’s getting better with age. No question, this was my best meal in Barcelona. There’s a small menu of what tapas are available today — and every single one we tried was outstanding. The tortilla was made to order(our choice was white beans and carmelized onions) and absolutely delicious. The zucchini carpaccio is probably the best preparation of zucchini I’ve ever tried. Service was so kind and welcoming, very unpretentious, and the pacing was flawless. We ordered everything at once, but it was served not quite in courses, but paced. This allows you to appreciate the flavors of each dish without creating a muddled mess of everything at once. Don’t miss this place!

It’s been three years now, and I still dream about my meal at Belmonte. While in Spain with friends, we chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. I feel lucky that we were able to just walk in without reservations, as the food and service here is truly special. It felt like a true«local» spot, as opposed to many of the tourist places we ended up prior to this meal. I had to look back at our photos to remember what we ate here, and I don’t know if these items are still on the menu, but here’s our menu from the night: Patatas Bravas, Pan con Tomate, Salad with Cod, Salad with Goat Cheese and Apples, Salmon, Flan, and Chocolate Truffles. I’m drooling right now thinking about this place… hmm, when can I get back to Barcelona? If you’re in Barcelona, you owe it to yourself to eat here at least once!

Belmonte is the best meal I had on my month-long trip through Spain(Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastian, Valencia) in a crowded field of favorites. Coming from SF and LA I am accustomed to high-caliber food. I am writing this reviews 2 years after the fact and can’t recall what I had but I certainly enjoyed my meal, the ambiance and the neighborhood. Price-wise I would say it is medium to high. I highly recommend Belmonte. You won’t be disappointed.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant from my time in Barcelona and will be a place I keep coming back to when I visit! The food is out of this world and the service is just attentive enough. You must go here for dinner!
