€€€ Privey YES ! Great food YES ! Good service as well… You won’t be disappointed.

Was highly recommended by many friends and was looking forward to our reservation, and while the food was delicious (except the too salty paella) would NEVER recommend. The service was horrendous. We were ignored for 30 min after being seated at a table, then the waitress was rude and would not answer any questions. Made us feel uncomfortable for not wanting to order an 160 euro fish, even though we had ordered 4 cocktails, 3 appetizers and 4 entrees. Never once returned to our table for the entire 2 hour meal, except when we finally got her attention for the check-​the only thing she said to us was how much tip we wanted to leave… I have never had such bad service, especially at such an expensive restaurant.

Expensive but worth it! The décor is soooooo cute. All the food was amazing. Warning– it’s quite pricey for tapas!!!
Fish soup– amazing!
Cheese bread (takes 15 min to prep) — amazing!

Después de mucho tiempo oyendo hablar sobre el Boca Grande hoy por fin he tenido el placer de ir a probarlo. Por lo que había oído hablar me imaginaba un restaurante cool del Eixample con una decoración muy cuidada pero con unos precios desproporcionados por la calidad que ofrecen (como sucede en muchos restaurantes de este estilo). Debo decir que me he llevado una grata sorpresa.
Si debo decir que los precios de la carta en general son elevadillos, la calidad es acorde, y para situaciones especiales lo recomendaría sin pensarlo. De todo el pica-​pica que hemos pedido hoy nada nos ha defraudado:
— Ostras (3 € la unidad). Muy buenas y con mucho sabor a mar.
— Vierias. Hechas a la plancha y en su punto. Me encantaron.
— Pop, «papada de porc» i patata. Sublime. Excelente. Volvería al Boca Grande solo por pedir este plato.
— Alcachofas fritas. Correctas.
— Calamares a la andaluza. Buenos y con un rebozado en su punto.
— Gambot. Un «carabinero» de buen tamaño, tierno y buen sabor. Lo recomiendo.
Como guinda el cheese cake con una bola de helado de vainilla… qué delicia.
Barato no es para nada, pero contando con el ambiente, la calidad de la comida y lo bien que nos trataron lo recomiendo para ciertos días y situaciones.

Nice décor, but I was disappointed by the food and the service for sure is not at the level of a restaurant in that price range.

Boca Grande was recommended to us by the front staff of our hotel. The restaurant is situated in a small alley, just off Passeig de Gracia which is one of the main shopping streets in Barcelona.
We had 4 in our party and decided to eat family style so that we would have the opportunity to try several things on the menu.
*Fresh Fish — They brought by on silver platters, a couple of fresh fish to see if we had any interest. Each had a tag with weight and price. One looked almost like a stingray so that was a definite no. The other looked like your standard fish so that’s what we chose. The fish is baked whole, covered by a mound of sea salt. They showed us the fish right before it went into the oven. After baking and once the salt is brushed away, the fish is then filleted and served with a side of lemon juice and oil. I believe this is a traditional Catalan way of making fresh fish. I have no idea what kind of fish it was but it was delicious. Extremely fresh and clean tasting… no fishiness. This was accompanied with a side of mixed vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, shishito peppers, potato).
*Vegetables and Mushrooms — We ordered this since my uncle wanted more veggies. The vegetables are served in a mini bamboo steamer with a dipping sauce. This was ok, nothing special.
*Mussels w/​French Fries — Best mussels ever! Tiny in size but very tender and flavorful with a mild sweetness. The broth was great too. Even the french fries were amazing. We ended up ordering a 2^nd order of this delicious dish.
*Black Spaghetti w/​Seafood — I’m assuming the black spaghetti is squid ink pasta. There was an abundance of different seafood: shrimp, mussels, fish, clams, razor clams. The sauce was good. Overall a decent dish.
*Tiramisu — Not your standard tiramisu. The cake layers are wrapped with an edible chocolate shell and topped with chocolate biscuit pieces. I loved the crunchy topping.
*Nutella Croquet — Crispy panko-​style outer coating with an ooey gooey nutella center. Sold by the each. We ordered 2 and wish we had room for more!
*Penis-​shaped Cake — Obviously that’s not the name of the dessert but I’m not sure what it was called. This dessert was displayed on the dessert platter and not listed on the menu which is why I don’t know the name. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Not bad but I much preferred the other 2 desserts.
All in all, we were impressed with the food and service was great too. Solid 4 stars!

Wow food in this place is just amazing! Every dish was just perfect! Décor is beautiful and service is perfect. I would definitely recommend it.

sexy interior. Must check out the bar upstairs and the bathrooms in the basement. Beautiful design.
Drinks were pricey but worth the atmosphere. The host was very nice and accommodating.
bottom line — in Barcelona, check it out.

After visiting Barcelona a few times the last months We were looking for a new spot to enjoy some good food and more important the atmosphere… We booked a table at Boca Grande as we were told that’s the place to go…
When arriving we standing in a line waiting to be attended, and while asking if we had a reservation and picking up the phone we ended up getting a really bad located table — after talking to the her once again, and trying to explain that we didn’t what that table, we were moved to a corner — far away from any atmosphere.
Food — the quality is really good, but be prepared to pay big time if you say yes to «today’s fresh fish» without a price on! 4 Prawns = 31 euro (nothing else served)
Service wasn’t great and it seemed like they most of all just wanted you out so overall really sad experience…
Wouldn’t suggest my business associates or friend to go there.

Big disappointment.
We told the waitress my wife could not have tomato. She ordered the Old Lettuces salad, and it was full of tomatoes (no mention of the tomatoes on the menu).
I ordered the Ox steak. The accompanying sauce was not served until after I had finished the steak.
My wife ordered Soupy Rice with Big Prawns and Clams. Well, the rice was soupy, but there were chunks of seafood (not mentioned), one clam, one prawn body with no meat in it, one shrimp (not mentioned), and mussels (not mentioned in the menu). And one of the mussels had not opened which could have contaminated the dish. When we brought this to the waitress’s attention, she denied there was a problem, and that we would have to pay for an extra prawn — the one she should have received — if she wanted it.
The waitress never showed herself again even though we asked to see her two more times.

Well on the pricey side, frequented by a mix of people but noticeable by the bold and the beautiful…
Staff is of a very high calibre, attentive, quick react, efficient and friendly with a twinkle in the eye.
Had a quick dinner on the counter, opposite an interesting display of iced fish and live crabs in their death-​throes… Ink tagliatelle and cod were very creamy/​greasy but also on par with the price.

Great food (especially the seafood), amaaaazing location, ok staff. This is really a place you HAVE TO go. Its a bit more expensive but the location itself is already worth it!

My girlfriend and I decided to try this place for our last night at Barcelona, and we were very disappointed. As soon as we walked in, the hostess looked us up and down and told us there were no tables available if we didn’t have reservations, we asked her if we can wait at the bar and she said no because no tables will be available later. Then, we were about to leave and my friend decided to ask the doorman since he was nice to us and recommended we try this place. He goes in and talks to the hostess and suddenly, we are allowed to wait at the bar while our table is getting ready. We go to the bar, to be fair, the bar staff were nice. When we got to our table, we ask for an English menu and our request gets ignored, we ask another staff member and he get is for us. The waiter is not friendly, doesn’t smile at all. The waiter never comes and checks on us. Anyway, overall it wasn’t a great experience. Compared to all the restaurants we have been, this place was horrible. Also, the food was not great, given the high price. Nice ambiance though.

Great place, great ambiance, good food and nice wines! This is one of my all time favourite places in the city and it always meet my expectations. Upstairs at Boca Chica, they always serve nice cocktails and the atmosphere is amazing. The bartenders are very skilled and in general, the staff at both Boca Grande and Chica are very nice and professional. Also, it’s a must to visit the bathrooms in the basement!

Un vrai bar à cocktails … A l’instar de l’Experimental Cocktail Club … Ambiance tamisée avec la garantie d’avoir du succès auprès de votre moitié !
Le lieu est impressionnant avec ce bar aux allures fièrement new-​yorkaises. Chaque objet à été rigoureusement choisi: tables en miroir vieilli, plafonnier art déco tout comme sorti du Chrysler Building, banquettes et fauteuil club tellement mieux «qu’à la maison».
Les toilettes valent à elles seules le détour avec une collections de miroirs des toute forme et de toute époque.
Bien sûr les deux cocktails testés étaient bien au-​delà de nos espérances … Épices d’ici et d’ailleurs, cannelle incandescente: voyages garanties aux quatre coins du monde dans quitter la Catalogne !
Né vous privez pas de ce merveilleux endroit …
Dans cette rue, vous trouverez tous les restaurants aussi originaux … Le plus dur: faire son choix !

Worth the visit. A bit pricy for the amount of food you get but great atmosphere, great food and very well located. The bar at the upper floor is also a must. While ordering deserts ask the waitress to book a table for you at Boca Chica (upper bar).

If you order in English make sure they understand. Didn’t bring one 1^st course and got a entrée wrong

The best cocktail bar I have ever been to. No question. Fun kitschy drinks (think dry ice served in tea pots) that I have never seen anywhere else and that are actually really strong and tasty! Super packed, meat market.

Un super restaurant avec un super décor et ambiance, personnel très sympa. Faut essayer le saumon, c’était délicieux et demandez voir les desserts, super présentation et bien sur, délicieux ! Un petit plus? Faites un tour aux toilettes… Elles sont belles!

We were doing bottle service, so this was a more-​than-​excellent experience.
Servers were polite and attentive, lots of beautiful people, great wine selection.
The bathroom is a must go ;) The most famous bathroom in Barcelona perhaps?

Wenn man in gehobenem Ambiente gehobene Tapas essen möchte, dann ist man hier genau richtig. Mag sein, dass es etwas touristisch ist, das tut jedoch der Qualität, dem Ambiente und auch den Drinks definitiv nicht schlecht. Das ganze wäre eine aber nur halb so lustig, wenn da nicht diese –man muss echt sagen– grenzgenialen nicht Toiletten wären. Ich dachte zuerst, ich bin da falsch. Aber nein, man ist richtig ;-)
Also auf hin, man kann nichts falsch machen.

We walk in without reading any of the reviews and I am glad we did. Service was great, Ana took great care of us, very attentive and helpful. Food was great and the desserts were delicious.
A little bit on the expensive side but it was well worth it

I went to Boca Chica, the lounge/​bar of Boca Grande. The entire establishment has a chic and trendy feel. Music is on every level including the floor where the bathroom is. There were people using bathroom area as a place to socialize and dance to the music which I thought was pretty cool.
I had a generous plate of pasta with truffle and asparagus which was tasty. Most of the service staff was incredibly accommodating. The music was remixes of 90s hits, but the vibe was still cool. If I lived in Barcelona, I’d frequent this place regularly.

¡5 estrellas merecidísimas! Hemos ido a cenar hoy para celebrar las bodas de plata de mis padres, y no podrían haber escogido un lugar mejor.
Para empezar, está muy bien situado, se encuentra entre Rambla de Cataluña y Paseo de Gracia, ¡ideal para dar un paseo luego y bajar la cena!
Nosotros hemos pedido primero unos entrantes y luego un plato para cada uno. De entrantes, que recuerde, hemos pedido: croquetas de mejillones, ensaladilla rusa (que estaba tan rica que hemos repetido), pan con tomate, foie, queso payoyo (es un queso andaluz buenísimo; fuerte, muy fuerte de sabor y considerado el mejor queso de 2013) acompañado de una mermelada de pétalos de violeta y pulpo con una salsita muy rica. La verdad, es que todos los entrantes muy recomendables, hasta uno de nosotros al que no le gustaba la ensaladilla la ha probado y repetido!
Como plato hemos sido poco originales y todos nos hemos pedido una hamburguesa con foie y patatas. IMPRESIONANTE.
Y de postre, te traen una bandejita de la tú eliges. Esta vez mi madre y yo hemos sido las que mejor hemos escogido: ella una tarta sacher y lo mío era un vasito de chocolate blanco coloreado de rojo, con mus de chocolate blanco, frutas del bosque y en el fondo bizcocho de chocolate. Faltan adjetivos para describir lo bueno que estaba.
Y ya, por último hemos subido al piso de arriba, donde también habíamos reservado mesa. Es una coctelería. Y también sin palabras de lo ricos y originales que han sido nuestros cócteles! Acompañados de chocolatitos con frutas deshidratadas por dentro.
En fin, en conclusión: es más carillo de lo que acostumbras a ir (al menos las personas con un bolsillo discretito) pero es un capricho que vale MUCHÍSIMO la pena darse, tanto si vives en Barcelona como si vienes a visitarla por unos días.

Siempre que voy a Boca Grande es porque busco tomar un coctel en un lugar tranquilo y chic, normalmente llevo a mis amigos que están de visita.
La decoración está super cuidada, muy original y llamativa.
El precio es medio-​alto pero merece la pena pagarlo aunque solo sea una vez.
Lo único que cabe destacar es que normalmente no hay sitio para sentarse, a no ser que llegues a una hora tranquila.

Un bar espectacular de alto estanding (15 € el cóctél, muy bueno por cierto), con una decoración refinada y cuidada al detalle, y no uno de carton-​piedra. La planta principal es el restaurante con un patio cubierto encantador. La segunda planta es una coctelería con sillones muy confortables. Estas dos plantas son de decoración tipo colonial con un toque contemporáneo. Y la tercera planta, la terraza (en parte cubierta) es de decoración más bien bohemia (diría «bourgeois-​bohème» o sea burgués-​bohemio para reutilizar una expresión francesa). Todo un lujo de verdad dónde te sientes bien. Fui una tarde tranquila y la experiencia ha sido perfecta. No faltéis la visita al baño que es, para unos Unilocalers, lo mejor del establecimiento. No digo nada, os dejo la sorpresa.

We were rcommended this place by our hotel staff. We were not disappointed. We arrived Monday night at 8:00 and it was empty. We were told they could seat us but we had to be out by 10:00. Not a problem.
We ordered the Catalan Tomato bread, which was awesome. Well worth the extra € 0.50. Then we had chicken croquettes, another excellent selection. Finally we shared the risotto and seafood chowder. We didnt care for the chowder but the Risotto was delicious if a little oily.
The Sangria was dynamite!
Service was so-​so and we waited about 25 minutes for our bill, but not the end of he world.

a fantastic spot close to the passeig de gracia! the boca grande is actually a restaurant, bar and a toilet-​club ;-) and it surely also offers the best cocktails in town!
unfortunately we didnt get a table in the restaurant for 5, so we were seated in the bar area which has a really great atmosphere! but the service was partly a bit overchallenged. due to a misfortune the food was partly brought extremely late and mostly cold or luke-​warm. the taste was ok but the steak we ordered in medium came medium rare.
the final wine, which we choosed for a cosy finish of our eve was badly temperatured, but at the end they obviously found another one in a dark little corner of the bodega. at least the effort counts!
the grand finale was entertaining and the toilets with a clubbing dj is really one of a kind!

Lugar espectacular, con una decoración impresionante y una carta deliciosa y realmente apetecible, aunque si no vas con cuidado, caro caro. En la segunda planta tienen montada una cocktelería, decorada como si fuera un salón de casa bueno, una casa muuuy grande Los cockteles buenos, no espectaculares, pero caros 15 € Y lo más increïble los baños!!! Jajaja. Han montado una discoteca en los baños! Son unisex, con discjockey, lleno de espejos que parecen de una colección sacada de un palacio de la realeza y con una piel de oso polar colgada en la pared!!! Una auténtica ida de olla!

Lo mejor, la decoración en general, y el baño en particular que es espectacular, realmente vale la pena ir sólo para visitarlo. La comida está bastante bien, aunque el servicio deja mucho que desear. Si logran mejorarlo ganarán muchos puntos.
