Not fancy, but served by friendly staff and some of the best smoked brisket I have ever hsd. The creamed corn was also phenomenal! I can’t recommend this local favorite enough!

Ok… I know its a chain and in a gas station. I know there are some top rated BBQ placed in TX. However, I lived and traveled all throughout TX for work(13 yrs), and there was always something about seeing a Rudy’s. I just love everything about this place. Whether in San Antonio, Houston, Amarillo, Denton/Dallas, or Georgetown, I would stop… it was like a trance. Yes… I drank the juice. You have options for brisket… the chicken is always the best… and on my last trip, I was asked to pack some ribs, and bring them back to CA. Drinks are on ice… and big cups to go. Plenty of sides… And always plenty of space… Now I am sad… I miss Rudy’s…

Great brisket! Get the«moist»; although it’s a little fatty, the sample I had of the«lean» was too dry. The brisket was flavorful enough that there was no need for sauce, which was a bit too spicy for me. Also ordered the turkey, and it was moist and delicious as well. Only negative was they did not have a place to recycle the empty bottles from the beverages they sell.

First time trying this place and am definitely a fan. Its a step up from fast food but not quite a sit down restaurant. I say this because the food has a home cooked feel to it but some of the sides are pre-packaged. The girl who rung us up was very helpful in explaining how it works and even let us taste test some of the meat before ordering. Had trouble deciding what side items to get but I don’t think you can go wrong with what you decided on. Everything I tried I loved!

Great turkey sandwich and very friendly staff. Stopped here driving across the country so I would definitely recommend if you’re on-the-go!

Food is good. Service is great. Gave us free samples, waited politely for our party of 6 kids and 3 adults to order, were helpful and professional. Not fancy but clean, not overly loud, and well lit. Convenient location and everything down to the potato salad was perfectly cooked. Turkey is divine though an unusual bbq choice and DO get the pudding or buttermilk pie!

A friend of mine told me about this place to try on the way to L.A. I was a bit slightly disappointed. The baby back ribs were a bit tooo dry. There was this weirdish thin dry skin on the ribs. Not what I like. But, the meat did fall of the bones & was quite tender. The Sissy sauce was ok. The moist beef brisket was indeed moist & quite tender. The taste was all-right. The new potatoes could use a little work. A bit bland. Maybe I need to try more Texas bbq since I am very much attached to STL bbq. The one thing I liked about this place is that they didn’t run out of stuff when my mom & I ordered the food. We got there about 30 minutes before closing.

I’ve been a fan of Rudy’s since I was a student at the University of New Mexico, and I’ve eaten at this particular Rudy’s many times. When I’m on a road trip to the East Coast on I-40, I know that Rudy’s will be my last taste of Texas BBQ. So, I sit and savor the brisket as it melts in my mouth. Keeps going until I can get back to the state. Also you can purchase bottles of the BBQ sauce to take with you. I like the Sissy Sauce. Full of flavor!

This place is one of my favorite BBQ chain. It looks like a gas station on the outside but is a restaurant/country store in the inside. They have rows of long picnic tables and water troughs filled with ice and cold drinks. I was working in Amarillo for several months and when ever I would stop to eat here I ordered a pound of moist brisket, jalapeño sausage, and a coke classic in a glass bottle. For some reason, the coke tasted better to me in the glass bottle. I love their spicy BBQ sauce! It is a family friendly place and a definitely a must try for BBQ lovers.

Okay, I’m shocked how much I enjoyed this place. Yes, it’s a chain, but their food is surprisingly good. Essentially, I was traveling through on a road-trip and made a stop here. Worth the visit and more than enough food for the price. Check out their turkey sandwich. That’s my recommendation. I’ve gotten it twice, and it was delicious. I added pickles, a few carrots, and onions. Be sure to put the sauce on it as well. I recommend doing it yourself. You have two options, and I’ll admit, I was a fan of the regular stuff as opposed to the«sissy» bbq sauce. I do a enjoy a good potato salad, but I’d say the sandwich is enough and also filling. I wasn’t a huge fan of Rudy’s potato salad, however, it wasn’t bad either. A lot depends on how much you want a side to go with your sandwich. Clean bathrooms is a positive and so is the rest of the restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere. Staff is very friendly. Parking is very easy.

Stopped here going thru Amarillo from Tucumcari. Got gas, hit the restroom from morning coffee and snagged two breakfast tacos, and some brewed ice tea. Loved that spicy jalapeño sausage and egg taco. And the chopped spicy with potato. Yum! Easy access off and back on the highway. I don’t know how often I would come here if I lived here? But the atmosphere is fun. Maybe the barbecue is really good. I thought the chopped spicy taco was. But if you are passing thru it’s a great quick stop that isn’t McDonalds. And the food was good.

I’ve eaten at a different Rudy’s in Dallas and was not a fan. This location, however, has made me one. The brisket moist here is sooo good. I ordered it thinking it would be mediocre as it was before but I was wrong. Different locations really do have different tastes. T and I made brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. We had to go back and get more bread. Jalapeño sausage did not disappoint. Smothered everything with Rudy’s BBQ sauce to make it even more tasty. The staff here is GREAT. T asks a lot of questions and she was very patient and answered every single one of them. Gave him samples of everything he wanted to try and had really good recommendations. We were even there past closing time and they didn’t rush us or kick us out. She even joked with him and made us feel very comfortable. Good job, Rudy’s.

Stop here every time we drive through! Love this place. The atmosphere is the best feature– from the time you enter, order and eat, it’s just fun. Great bbq. Great customer service. Wish we had one in Tennessee!

Can’t be in TX without getting some Texas BBQ, so we stopped at Rudy’s as we drove through. It is conveniently located off I-40. The restaurant is clean and spacious. Service was quick. Because we were first time Rudy’s customers, our friendly cashier gave us a few samples of their meat selections: brisket, pulled pork, & pork loin. We found the brisket and loin a bit too dry and salty to our taste. We ended up ordering pull pork sandwich, baby back ribs, cole slaw, & three bean salad, which were all decent. Something worth noting: The gas station outside the restaurant has the best diesel price on the I-40.

I was stopping overnight in Amarillo on a roadtrip to the Midwest and had a hankering for brisket. The food was solid. You can get it take out or eat in. Best brisket I’ve had so far was Oklahoma Joe’s in Kansas City, but the moist brisket here was moist, tender, and delicious. Sweet tea was just the perfect kind of sweet as well. Worth a stop!

Solid brisket flat and moist, good tenderness, flavor, and nice amount of smoke. Green chili stew is awesome — might be a little spicy for those that think Original Franks Red Hot is spicy. The cobbler was good. I recommend a stop here

What a great find, out of the blue. No nonsense, easy to order and GREAT food. Ordering by the pound is perfect when feeding a picky 3 yr old. Two slices of turkey an a bag of Cheetos cost less than the average kids meal. When back in Amarillo, we will return here!

Brisket Ordered: ½ sausage, green chili stew, cream corn, ½ lb prime rib, 1⁄3 lb moist brisket, ½ lb baby back ribs, ½ lb pulled pork and a couple of drinks. Total $ 39. The prime rib was terrible(dry), the pork items were better in Kansas City. The lean brisket was dry, but the«moist» brisket was moist and flavorful. The green chili stew and sausage were also good. For me, I would only order the brisket, if I came back and some sides. The prices were in line with their competition, but their pork flavors were not.
