Really good BBQ joint. Get a lot of food for the price you pay for. The meat isn’t too smokey, just perfect. Brisket was moist and ribs were good.

Great bbq! Pulled pork plate is my favorite. It is enough that I can eat it for lunch and dinner. The ribs are good they were a little on the small side but they gave me an extra one because of the size. The bbq sauce is out of this world I can’t get enough of it. My only complaint is the potato salad is almost pureed and tastes a little funny but it’s not horrible. The service is always great. Mike is always there which is nice to see a owner involved. Great place, small but nice.

Awwwesommme. Well worth the 10 Minute drive off I-40. The ribs were tender and peppery and the sauce delicious. Best potato salad I’ve ever had. Well done Spicy Mike’s, by mouth and belly are happy! :)

This is probably THE best BBQ I have ever had and I am from the south! I got the pulled pork plate and the meat was just phenomenally done!

This place was great. The bbq was delicious and the sauce was good. The ribs had a nice peppered flavor. Mike and his brother were nice people and I got a free sticker

My little one likes the ribs and the beans so I’d come back for those. The cole slaw was pretty good too. The brisket was dry and not really edible but apparently if you get the chopped beef sandwich and add sauce, it’s not so bad. The sausage tasted like a large hot dog. Their portions are pretty big so you can make two meals out of a plate.

Good local BBQ with several unique options that include green chilies. Friendly service. Try their Mac n cheese. Moderate priced. Lots of Western décor.

The kind of 5-star food that makes me want to go back to all of my other reviews and re-evaluate my ratings! I’ve gotten the brisket and the pulled-pork and both were phenomenal. Very tender and very tasty. The blackened hickory char marks on the brisket might be the best I’ve ever had will keep me coming back to Mike’s for years to come. Bottom line: if you’re just passing through Amarillo, this is the kind of non-chain place you need to get off of the highway for.

It lives up to its reviews IF you like sweet BBQ sauce, and sweet food in general, which I do. My wife did not like the sweetness of the sauces, potato salad(mayonnaise more than mustard), and cole slaw. I loved them, though. The ribs are hickory smoked, and VERY tender. The sausage was good but I was told that the sausage wasn’t the main attraction here. The strawberry cake was a delicious addition, but after that I was in need of something to dull my taste buds… WHOA taste overload! This place and Tyler’s have been compared by many I have talked to and I have to say that the BBQ ribs here have a slight edge. The sausage is way better at Tyler’s, however. Also if you don’t like sweet flavors you’ll probably prefer Tyler’s.

Driving through Amarillo and found this gem through the Unilocal reviews. My friend and I shared two two meat combos so we got to try the ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and jalapeño sausage! The two plate combo also comes with 3 sides: potato salad, Cole slaw, and a huge bowl of beans as well as a slice of buttered Texas toast. The sides themselves aren’t anything goes spectacular but they are definitely very solid and compliment the meats well. The ribs and pulled pork are by far the best of the meats followed by the jalapeño sausage and the brisket was a little disappointing to me. The ribs and pulled pork are full of smoky goodness and the pulled pork is super tender and flavorful. The ribs are fall off the bone good and are very tender as well. The sausage is solid and the brisket was a very lean cut of brisket even though there was a stripe of fat on top, it was pretty dry(I prefer a more moist/melt in your mouth brisket). They also gave bumper stickers to people who are from out of town!

Passing thru Amarillo on our way home to Calif and saw some of the write ups on Unilocal and decided to stop for dinner. This place needs to be on «Triple D». 5 stars does not due this place justice. Very small place but once you walk in the smells sends your nose into over drive. I could not make up my mind so I ordered the 3 meat combo ribs, brisket and sausage. These had to be some of the best ribs I have ever had. Falling off the bones with just the right amount of smoke. My wife finished the brisket without offering me a bite. We ordered some of Mike ‘s special Mac and Cheese made with Ghosts pepper. This disk was to die for. When we were getting ready to leave, we actually ordered dinners to go for tomorrow night. Ribs, briskest and the Mac & Cheese!

This is one of those moments where Unilocal really stands tall and proud. We’re in Amarillo for one night. I am a family of four with two cats and a dog. We’re staying at a nearby hotel and going out to dinner is out of the equation. I know there are some gems in this town, I just don’t know where to find it. I drove past 5BBQ joints all claiming to be the«best» on my way to this highly rated BBQ establishment. Thank you Unilocal! I ordered the 4 pack and a half a slab a ribs. I wanted to taste as much as possible and this seemed like a good route. We got Brisket, ham and ribs. It was AMAZING. Without a doubt, it was best brisket I ever had and the ribs were up there as well. Great texture, color and taste. Wonderful rub. Both sauces were outstanding. I can’t really review the sides as I inhaled so much meat, there was only bite of each side. If any out of towners are debating between a gimmick steakhouse or real BBQ made by the same man who is ringing you up, go here. Tons of heart and soul and well worth the price.

This is a book mark to try. I liked Tylers BBQ but I wanted to try another family style place. After the gobs of rain subsided, and my disappointment with couple of BBQ joints I got a chance to try in Austin, we headed over to this joint. We came just at the right time, not crowded and everything about the décor say Hee-haww y’all. Pictures were interesting with a history of cow hand, rangling, tools of the cow trade. Ordered a BBQ brisket sandwich which came with two side. opted for the beans and potato salad. My sister got the pulled pork sandwich. They have a little pickle, pepper bar and two different hot sauces. Drinks were a $ 1 and you could have free refills. I loved my sandwich and was quite full when I finished. Staff friendly and love the twangy accents. If I end up in Amarillo again, I’ll be heading back.

I purchased the chopped brisket sandwich and it was fantastic it comes dry and there’s two sauce options at the table spicy and regular. The meat was smoky and deep and it was piled on. The ranch brand were very flavorful. Smoky and peppery. Beat the lunch Rush by 3 minutes and watched as 20 – 30 people tried to squeeze into line there in the small space. It’s that popular. Most of them then sat out side in the shaded porch area This would be an very very easy 6stars. It was that good. Thank you mike ;)

If you are reading reviews trying to decide on a place to visit put this on your must go list. We have looked at all the highest rated places and visited them and this one is by far the best! We arrived literally 1 minute before they closed and they greeted us with smiles and genuine kindness. It’s a great family owned and ran restaurant. Mike was working the kitchen and came out to chat with us and give us a few tastes of a variety of his other items since he was closing. The jalapeño sausage was delicious and not too spicy or greasy. The ham was smoked to perfection not all all dry. Top quality meats. Best ribs of my life. He even gave my kids some delicious banana pudding in to go containers as he was closing up shop. This is what Unilocal is all about. Spreading the word about fantastic establishments like this one.
