The food portions are generous(maybe a bit too generous for my waist line) and the food always tastes amazing. I always have a good experience when I go there.

Just passing through Amarillo but was glad to find this place before I left. Simply great breakfast. The pancakes are excellent just as they advertise and the menu seems to have quite the selection for any breakfast lover. Wish I had the chance to also try a skillet before leaving town.

Oowweee! This place make you want to do a happy dance when your food come out. Decent size establishment, friendly and welcoming staff, good service, awesome and fulfilling food. Not much more you could ask for. We wasn’t sure how much food we would get, so we ask our server if the skillets were small or big enough to share. She said they were a personal size so we both ordered one. My friend ordered the«Village skillet» and I ordered the«Chicken fried steak skillet»(both came/opted for a side of biscuit and gravy) and we decided to split a peanut butter and chocolate waffle. BIGMISTAKE! Lol! The skillets was big enough to share between two people especially with the side of big fluffy home made biscuits and gravy and the large waffle. The skillet was about 6″ round and about 1″ to 1″ ½ deep and was pack full of eggs, potato hash, green peppers, the selected meat, onion and cheese. We both ate half a skillet and a couple bites of the waffle and was ready to take a nap, our bellies were that full. I will definitely be coming back when in town.

This place is quite popular and it was very crowded and alive the morning we stopped by. I can tell it was a local favorite as they offer a lot of good breakfast classics. We ended up ordering a customized omelette and their house specialty pancakes. The omelette was just okay for me I mean nothing spectacular. The pancakes were the favorite part of my meal. They were huge and fluffy and just really good pancakes. Not the best I have tasted but I definitely was not mad at my selection.

This is where you want to eat breakfast in Amarillo! Biscuits are light and fluffy. Gravy is delicious. Skillets are hot and full of good ingredients. Pancakes are light and cooked just right(dollar size are 5 inches across). Prices are very reasonable, so please tip generously. The staff are friendly and attentive. Local diners at tables near us made us feel right at home as we engaged in friendly banter. You won’t leave hungry!

A hidden jewel and dive. Doesnt look like much from outside and an older place. Friendly staff and definitely local spot. I got an omelet with hashbrowns and 2 pancakes for about $ 10. They arent stingy when it comes to filling the omelet either. When ordering them they come with choice of 2 sides: pancakes, hashbrowns, biscuit/gravey, grits. Looking for breakfast come here.

Great staff, very attentive, never had to ask for coffee refill… World’s best anything is always a ridiculous claim, but this place does have great ones for sure. At first I thought maybe there was too much doughiness to them but after while they were good, especially the butter pecan syrup. In fact I wouldn’t bother with maple flavor or blueberry despite being a huge fan of both. Their pancakes really reminded me of a biscuit taste but not dry and crumbly, really tasty. The eggs and side meat were ok, but very little flavor to the eggs and seems like carton eggs. The coffee was well worth it. I drink all mine black and and it was very flavorful and not burnt for being restaurant coffee. The whole place really made me feel welcomed and homey, and Donetta was so very nice and one of the best waitresses I’ve encountered. She even gave me a to go cup for my coffee! I would totally recommend this place. It’s a little out of date and has carpet flooring, could use some sprucing up here and there, but everyone is clearly working hard and doing thieir jobs well and working as a team… PS I wrote while sitting in my booth after my meal so pretty instant lol

I’ll start by saying that we are not from Amarillo. We are from Denver, Colorado and are in town visiting family. I will also say that Denver has incredible food. The restaurant competition is fierce and breakfast joints are no different. In Denver there are many places to get an incredible breakfast and if you are going to claim to have the BEST pancakes you had better be sure. Ye Old Pancakes, in my opinion does not have the«worlds best» pancakes or anything else for that matter. I think the pancakes tasted like they came out of a Bisquick box. They were tasteless. This place takes their tasteless pancakes and slathers some kind of pre-packaged topping. Nothing about the pancakes, toppings or otherwise tasted homemade to me. The whipped cream, I’m pretty sure came out of a Ready Whip can. Things like this seriously irritate me. I have one cheat meal every two weeks. I wait that amount of time for something special and I take the time to be thoughtful about what my cheat meal is going to be. Pancakes are my favorite cheat meal. When I saw this placed claimed to be the«worlds best» at pancakes, coupled with the high reviews. I was totally on-board. I was totally let down! I ordered the vegetarian omelette. The menu said it would be served with fresh fruit and fresh vegetables. The fruit was not fresh. The blueberries & strawberries were still frozen. Don’t say you serve fresh fruit, if it isn’t fresh. Frozen is not fresh. The mushrooms were also not fresh, they were canned. I’m giving 2 stars because the wait staff is very friendly and helpful and the coffee is very good. Beyond that, we did not have a good experience. We waited 45 minutes for food that was subpar. I’m thankful to live in place where amazing food is easily accessible. The pancakes are insanely good made from scratch every time. Fruit is served fresh and farm fresh eggs are on the menu at many places. I guess I’m spoiled. Maybe my expectations are too high. However, if you are used to from scratch and very fresh food, this may not be the place for you.

I love this place and make it a point to stop when in Amarillo. This a is restaurant that is like one big family. I have never seen it when it is not packed. Lots of locals and I’m sure travelers such as myself come through often. They have an extensive pancake, waffle and omelet menu. The service is beyond friendly. Food is always top notch. Coffee is fantastic. The waitresses here are so good at that they do. I come here on a yearly basis and see the same ones here over and over. A testament to the family atmosphere generated here.

I am very stingy with that fifth star so that alone should say enough. We are in town visiting family and decided to try a place we don’t have at home. Pulling up outside felt a little iffy, this is DEFINITELY a «mom n pop» place. Inside, it’s clean and quaint, and PACKED! Even at 11am on a Wednesday. We were fortunate that we had no wait. We both had coffee. It was made at the perfect strength, and we’re picky coffee drinkers. The staff had refills ready the entire visit and there was plenty of creamer and sugar on the table. For breakfast, I ordered two fried eggs, sliced tomatoes, and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were cooked to perfection, with no lace. The tomatoes were fresh and crisp. The biscuits and gravy made me miss my mom’s, and were so delicious, I had to share with my husband. He ordered a scrambled egg, diced tomatoes, and the famous pancakes. Again, fantastic. The pancakes tasted like donuts and the syrup was wonderful. Our server was Barbara. She made us feel like regulars and was the right amount of attentive. We are here for the rest of the week and I KNOW we will be back. Great job to the team in both front and back of house. Y’all have lots of things to be incredibly proud of in your industry.

This was a Unilocal find for us as we use Unilocal to research areas we travel to and through. The service was great despite it being very crowded and added to that a large number of people from the gun show. We were seated fast and had coffee and water as we were seated. The food we ordered was brought quickly and was hot and tasty. The portions were huge so you won’t go away hungry! This is well worth your time if your passing through and if your a local I envy your ability to visit any time you wish, I’d eat here almost every morning if I could!

Everything was cooked to order, the eggs were great, the bacon was great, the pancakes were EXCELLENT(bonus was the syrup)! Coffee was pretty darn good too! The only negative would have to be the service, they were slow. Would I say it’s worth the wait, well yes I guess it was because I would go back and wait again.

Amazing food!!! **Brownie Point Alert** They asked us if we wanted crispy or regular bacon. WOW! This food was so amazing that I am back for a second straight day. So on to day 2: 30 minutes wait for breakfast joy. Set us and immediately took care of our drinks. The staff bends over backwards and remembered us from yesterday. OJ is very flavorful and kids are loving the hot chocolate. Orders included Taco Omelet w/biscuits n gravy and hash browns; Angus burger w/French fries; two world’s best pancakes w/eggs and bacon; Village Skillet w/biscuits n gravy. The Angus burger was not pre-made or pre-formed. The homemade sausage gravy on top of the homemade biscuits is unctuous!!! The omelet was fresh tasting and delightful. My spouse devoured her village skillet. Finished off by the four of us tearing up my Son’s remaining pancakes. World famous pancakes is a great moniker for them. If you are traveling thru Amarillo between 6:00am and 2:00pm then the Ye Old Pancake Station is a must do!

Solid breakfast fare. I had the biscuits and gravy with sausage and hashbrowns. This place is quite popular, so be prepared for a wait, but it’s worth it. It’s a classic diner/dive. Our server was so friendly and efficient. The biscuits were light and fluffy, the gravy just the right consistency, could have used a bit more flavor, but overall very good.
