I went here for hot wings. I ordered hot wings and pasta. My pasta came with hair in it. Gross! I stopped eating at that point. Clinton Kelly said if you ever get something that shouldn’t be in your meal, just tell the waiter that you have a foreign object in your food, and leave it at that. The waiter should get you a new plate. I couldn’t do that. If something is in your food that shouldn’t be, that tells you the kitchen is not very clean. If it was very clean, I wouldn’t have recieved pasta with hair. And If I had done CK’s thing, that doesn’t mean my next plate of food would have come back sanitary. Maybe foreign object free, but not necessarily sanitary. Especially if I originally had a foreign object. I will never go here again. The cooks and the kitchen are not sanitary. I suggest you find another restaurant to try. Not to mention that my hot wings were over cooked. They were hard and dark and not very edible, verses soft and layered in a red sauce.

Super bummed Crossbar is now closed! Consistently good service, excellent salads, the only decent poutine in Alaska, great black bean hummus, good cocktail menu. Super reasonable prices. BEAUTIFUL bar made out of old hockey sticks. Rotating keg every month and sales go toward a rotating charity. Creative desserts — vegan chocolate peanut butter puck(made with tofu), I’m looking at you! And it’s the owner’s sister’s recipe. How cool is that?! Ken did a great job. This place is going to be missed.

Didn’t get a chance. The place closed on 10 May 2015.

This is a great place. It’s like a pub, but a bit more upscale. It’s decorated in hockey gear, and there’s always some game on the TVs. The Poutine is almost as good as you’ll find in Canada, and the Bacon Bird was delicious.

I went for lunch recently. There was no hostess, and the bartender came over to seat me, so I sat at the bar. I am a no frills type of dude so I ordered my usual thing, a bacon cheeseburger. The burger was ok, nothing to write home about. The fries though, oh the fries. If you are going to provide fresh cut fries, learn how to cook them correctly. The fries were dark brown, soggy and limp. They had not been blanched first at a lower temp, with a second higher temp fry. So they sucked badly. The beer and liquor selection looked pretty good.

Complete failure. Sat at a table and was surrounded by seven screaming unsupervised kids playing games. It’s a SPORTSBAR. Their problem is that they cater to these unsupervised kids. Manager Jade explained to me «We are not a sports bar, we are a restaurant.» — which was news to me! I let her know that I didn’t want any discounts, I didn’t want anything for free, but that this would be my last visit. I will never be back. I wish I could give it zero stars!

Excellent service and good relaxed atmosphere especially if you enjoy hockey, which we do! Food was so tasty.

This place has solid food – nothing creative or particularly special, basically nice bar food. I don’t particularly care for the sport bar, cavernous ambiance(which makes the place freezing cold, so I have to wear a coat to eat); if you like sports bars and huge open spaces, I think you’d really like this place. As for the food, the fact that this place tries to use local and/or organic ingredients is a definite plus. They have a few yummy dishes, like the corndog appetizer and their potato chowder. Their spinach salad has been fresh the two times I’ve had it. I also like their sandwiches, particularly the fried chicken, the burger, and the lamb dip, with the latter two being definite cuts above but not enough to make this restaurant particular enticing for me. I mean, the boring and ubiquitous fettuccine, halibut tacos, and AK salmon entrees don’t do much for me. Also there’s something about the desserts that I don’t find terribly appealing, which is strange for me, so I haven’t tried them. Good cocktails and decent basic wine offerings. Good place for beer drinkers I think, though I can’t speak from experience. The service varies. I’ve had one server who always forgot things and another who acted like we didn’t exist. She was very into chatting with a colleague. I had to get up and go to her to request a new ketchup. That doesn’t fly with me, but she was apologetic and stepped it up after that.

I’ve been here several times and it’s been consistently terrific. I’m not sure what people are expecting that rate it so lowly! The food is exponentially better than any other sports bar in town. The chili brined wings are terrific and on a short list of the best in town(winky’s and fusions are up there too), unlike the anemic, sauce drowned wings served by the big wild wing place in town. The poutine is excellent. The sandwiches are great and the fried chicken is awesome. Better food, better service, cleaner tap lines, better mixed drinks and better beer selection than the farm, eddies… insert bar here. The only things keeping them from 5 stars are as follows: It seems like the table section experience comes up a little bit short compared to the bar. If I had to guess why I think it’s because things sit longer before they get to you. The food doesn’t seem to be as fresh off the line, the drinks seem to be more watered down. It’s certainly family friendly and the kiddos will love the real bubble hockey game, but temper your expectations. The bar is where you want to be to get the best experience. Viewing angles on the TVs are a bit awkward. They’re all mounted at the top of the walls in a room with 20 foot ceilings. There are no TV’s in your direct field of vision, and in particular if you’re sitting at the bar you have to turn 90 – 180 degrees to see the game, which isn’t super convenient if you’re eating too. There are plenty of TV’s with the full directv package options to see whatever game you’re looking for, but you may have to adjust yourself to see the game you came for. Pulled pork sandwich. First time I ordered it, it was great. Served on a Hawaiian king roll. The last couple times the king roll was drier, toasted too much(should it really be toasted at all??) and a little too big and the pulled pork retained too much liquid which made the bun fall apart. Most everything else I’ve ordered I’d recommend(which is basically everything else on the menu).

This is a great sports bar. My fiancée loves to watch football and basketball and this is my favorite spot out of all the Anchorage sports bars that he’s taken me to. The highlight is their drink selection. The mixed drink menu is full and almost upscale for a typical sports bar. Great selection of draft beers, too. The food is generally very good, though I’ve had steak salads that consisted of more fat and gristle than steak. The same goes for their steak sandwich. The atmosphere is fun and definitely more well lit and cheerful then other sports bars in town. A great place to try for football sunday brunch!

Good atmosphere, good waitress. the poutine with bacon added was really good but i got the chicken fried chicken sandwich and it wasnt very good at all, i had mine with cheese, which wasnt melted entirely, and there was no seasoning in the batter they had on the chicken, and the batter just started falling off of the chicken itself and the bun started to fall apart too so that was disappointing

In anchorage last week, it was late and choices were slim so we decided to give this place a shot. Staff was fine, waitress seemed sweet but a little inexperienced. There were a few times we wanted to ask for something and didnt see her around so we didn’t get it. I was really hungry and ordered the beet salad and the bison chili. They were both«meh». I mean the beet salad had hardly any flavor other than oil. I asked for oil and vinegar for my dressing on the side and when it was brought out the waitress said the chef told her that the beets are already marinated in oil and vinegar so I probably wouldn’t want anymore, well he was right to think I would pass on the oil but there was no contrasting acidity to the salad. It just tasted like a lot of oil with different textures depending on the bite. There was a slight sweetness at the end if you took a bite of only beets but overall it was boring… just like the chili. Blah blah chili. No heat or flavor or yumminess of any sort, just no reason to keep picking up your spoon. My bf tried the potato chowder and got kind of grossed out by it. Overall it was pretty disappointing

First time here and it’s pretty good. The steak was dry but other than that everything was awesome! Had the North of the Border drink and it was great! Try the fish tacos, the bison chili and the brownie(add ice cream!) for dessert!

So this is a neat place. Open not too noisy, clean place. Only one down side, the food was crap.(Or at least the sandwich I went with.) Soup special was a reindeer sausage and cheese soup. I’ve had RDSausage before so I thought I’d like it… Napes… I ate all the sausage and veggies out of it. The liquid was greasy and off tasting. More than half of this was left in my cup. Make ask for a sample to see if you like it first. steak sandwich– just stay away from it. It seemed to be a frozen piece of meat that was defrosted, cooked to my liking(it was done correctly in that aspect) But; it just seemed like meat you’d give prisoners, or something you’d find at Shoneys/IHOP /Denny’s. Not something you’d expect of a decent looking place like this. I would have given this place a 2 if it wasn’t for our stellar waitress. We(a friend of mine) are on a business trip and were delayed with work. We struck up a conversation with her asking for things to do in ANC. She probed us for likes and started rattling off things for us to check out. We mulled things off and started talking it out and when the next round of beers came, so did a list of things to do/google. She went above and beyond. Just wish I remembered her name. If a manager is reading this: 5’6−5’8 /skinny. Left side lip ring, 2 – 3 piercings in each ear. She needs a few gold stars. She alone got you 3 outta 5 on this visit.

This is a nice, decent-sized place. It’s, obviously, a hockey bar. But the décor and vibe don’t overly indicate that, which is nice. There’s a small bar area, several tables, and an outdoor patio. Plenty of large TVs, of course. The beer offerings are alright. The menu is decent with a good range of options. Average pricing. I wasn’t too hungry, so I just had the poutine fries. They were good, but not amazing. Service was friendly and attentive enough. All in all, this seems like a decent place to watch a game, drink a couple of beers, and grab a bite to eat.

Wednesday night, first time at crossbar. Waited to sit outside. Once we got a seat, it was like we where sitting in a no serve zone. We instantly became burdens for the servers no one smiled. It really sucked. My girl was bummed she was super excited to come here. I really hope the owner reads these reviews and does something about it. Good note: bartender girl was awesome and was a great help so was the guy.

Oh what Fun! LOVE the décor, LOVE the atmosphere… why is it that Anchorage is just now getting a «hockey» bar? I do love the Blueline but they aren’t a high quantity place like Crossbar. Knocked a star because the service was ridiculously slow, the place was packed so they got more patience from me than normal– but I still should see a server more than once an hour.

Being a rabid, I mean –avid– hockey fan, I was excited to see Crossbar come to fruition. I went tonight to see the Lightning @ Kings game because I certainly couldn’t pass up a chance to watch my boys on TV. At night. With beer. Nice open floor plan with lots of TVs, and the staff was super willing to change channels for guests(we were the only ones watching the Tampa game, natch). Our server, Michelle, was attentive and offered us a genuine smile(a rarity in Alaska)!!! The menu was not your typical bar food – lots of healthier options(killer salads) and even some organic choices(!!). We went with the poutine, which was delicious, though not a huge portion. I got the pulled pork sliders, he got the pastrami sandwich. Both were tasty, though I do think it’s a little chintzy that it’s an additional $ 2 for any side. sandwiches should come with something. I got a house salad with mine and the dressing(rhubarb balsamic) was fantastic. He got the potato chowder and OMG it was pretty epic. We ordered dessert since we were in it for the long haul(and a tough loss, boooooo). The peanut butter pie was creamy and not-too-sweet. The butterscotch bread pudding had a delectable sauce but was sort of cold and dense, rather than as magical as I wanted it to be. Beer was local and cocktails were handcrafted and unique. Overall, this was a great experience. While it’s a little pricier than the average sports bar, it absolutely offers a commensurate value. I will be back for many more games. Also – mad props for having Nate Thompson’s jersey on the wall. This fan was super stoked to see the Alaskan Assassin up there!

Jayne was my server an she’s great — actually she was my server here while this was Boston’s! Open floor plan, don’t worry about being too noisy. Unlike other new places that seem to have a hard time getting into a smooth flow, they have it together here. The owner, Kenny, is here all the time and he’s INVOLVED. a local business!
