Normally I like this store because I’ve found some great pieces here for a good price. However, the clothes selection has been terrible lately. And the clothes are not organized well. Unless you are looking for fitness gear because there are at least 5 – 10 racks of workout clothing for women. I know the selection is typically hit or miss, but shouldn’t it be possible to find a pair of simple black dress pants? The other thing is that the dressing rooms smell weird, kind of musty and look like they have never been vacuumed or swept. When I tried on clothes, the dust bunnies were clinging to the bottom of the pants I was trying on. EWW. Not a great shopping experience overall.

This Marshalls is ok. It feels a little tucked away in the very back of a huge retail plaza on Washtenaw and shares its parking with other retailers. It’s nice to have many other retailers here and you can get a lot of shopping done in one area but it also means you may have high traffic at times. When there is high traffic inside the store is a mess with things scattered about. This happens often especially in the clothing sections Otherwise the staff does a good job of keeping things organized. I would say it’s like many of the other Marshall’s in the area(I will review others later) in that way. I can usually find the same variety of clothing at this Marshalls as I do at other. Normally it is a good store for t shirts and jeans. I don’t find as many good gift items here and houseware items here. I don’t remember finding any shoes here(I will have to recheck that). All of this may just be because it is busy and there is high turnover. I’ve never really had any staff member ask me if I’ve needed help here and I don’t think I’ve asked for help. I’ve never returned an item at this store so I don’t know what that experience is like. Checkout lines can be long and cashiers are good overall(generally friendly or indifferent).

Wide selection, but I had trouble finding Under Armour in the mess that was their clearance racks. It’s probably hard to maintain order there though, with customers grabbing things and leaving them on random racks. The checkout line was a little slow, but I attribute that to the family who cut in front of me instead of waiting in line. Was a little annoyed the cashier didn’t do anything about it and rang them up as usual.

I usually flip between all the Marshall’s as they do have different items. This time I stopped in here, it was on thursday evening. I found the store to be well stocked, very organized and clean. The key is that it was during the week. On the weekends the store has alot of traffic and things deterioate. I found newly arrived seasonal items just inside of the frontdoor. Many shoes to choose from. Normally I find at least two pairs. This trip as well. Clothing is always a hit and miss at all of the stores. But worth a look for sure. The staff at the registers were friendly and keeping the line moving along. I“m happy and will return but during the week.

This Marshal’s is almost exactly like the one I used to shop at in Brighton. Only a little more disorganized. I think it’s because they get more traffic through there in the day than the Brighton store. I see most of the workers running willy nilly trying to put things back where they belong. I feel for them. We’ve all been there where we get a selection we don’t want in the middle of browsing something else. Then we sneakily place it on the rack where it doesn’t belong, feeling slightly guilty until we pick up that sweater that looks JUST like the one you were looking at in Ann Taylor… Yes, I’ll admit it… I have done that myself. So sometimes you’ll find a fabulous pair of slacks with the shirts, it’s all good. The items marked down on clearance is often what I’m here for. Good price and if you get there before it’s combed through with a fine tooth combed by its regulars, sometimes you can get real treasures. I’ve gotten some decent workout clothes and shirts from here for a nice price. Their undies and bra section is always a hectic mess. While I love VS things, I am poor, so sometimes I try and find something affordable. But good luck getting through there. Home items are nice, but no guarantee you’re going to find more than one item that’ll match. Pillows there are affordable for being nice n’ fluffy and ginormous! They’re bringing winter coats in, which I’m a huge fan of pea coats so I’ll probably be there eventually trying everything on and buying yet another coat… Shoe selection looks wonderful, but I’m having trouble justifying myself to buy more shoes. I need a nice pair of leather knee length boots… some new tennis shoes, maybe some heels… I try to avoid that area as I’m too easily tempted. As we’ve just painted the new apartment, my SO and I will need some new jeans and shirts… Guess where we will be heading? They seem pretty good with their lines, though it’s starting to get holiday season, so that may change.

I really like this Marshall’s. It’s a little more picked over than the one I used to stop into in Brighton, but there’s usually a good selection of «stuff I need, and prefer to buy new, but don’t want to spend a lot of money on.» This category includes things like workout clothes and PJs as well as short-sleeved shirts for the summer, along with socks, sweaters(thrift sweaters can sneak up on you with mustiness), gloves and scarves for the winter. Amy’s right that they do have a great shoe selection — usually. Like any discount store, things come in waves. Overall, the close-by Carpenter Rd. TJ Maxx usually has better shoe selection. However, this spot ain’t too shabby itself. Late last summer, I’d seen a pair of Bandolino sandals online that were almost exactly like a thrift-store pair I had worn to bits the summer before. I wanted them, but there was no way I’d spend $ 60 – 80 on such simple sandals, particularly when my first thrift pair had been under $ 6! Guess what I found at this Marshall’s for $ 30 last week? Same exact sandals! Obviously, the price is more than a thrift store, but I’m betting they’ll hold up longer. Hooray, Marshall’s! Who cares if they’re «last year’s» sandals — they were exactly what I wanted!

I always think of Marshalls as an upscale TJ Maxx, but it higher priced, and has less selection of most stuff, but they do have a GREAT shoe selection.
