A few weeks back I arrived on a Sunday morning in search of a 12-volt power cord, there was one customer being helped so i looked around. After 2 minutes the customer was gone. The employee saw me, but didn’t come over. So I asked him where I could find one. He pointed out a rack, and said i had to find the right cord with the right connector. That is correct, radio shack does not have a simple 12-volt power cord. I would need to find the the two correct pieces. Instead of him staying with me, he immediately went back to his counter. I was alone in the store, I had to keep asking him questions, about 4 or 5 questions until he realized I would not leave him alone, so he reluctantly came back. After asking me one question, said that Radio Shack did not carry what I wanted and I would need to bring in the busted power cord. HOWDOESRADIOSHACKNOTHAVE A SIMPLE12-VOLT POWERCORD??? When I asked him where I could get one because this winner could not simply be bothered anymore since it wasn’t an I-Phone purchase, he said I don’t know maybe Staples or online. That’s why Radio Shack is going out of business, it doesn’t have simple accessories and has uninformed employees with bad attitudes and I doubt a raise would piqué their interest. Never again.

Went in there twice looking for a scanner. First time I went the guy told me he had no idea about the product to come back when the manager was there. I went back the next week still no manager but a different guy. When I asked him about the product he just read what was on the box. Employees need to know about the items there selling.

This one is not closing(yet, with the rest), but should. Still an awful store with rude staff and absurd prices. Bright with full shelves, if you’re into browsing to kill time,

Got my iPhone upgrade here in RadioShack, I was very patient on the customer services here since they were a lot of people getting there iPhones and Galaxy activated at the time. The Manager is great and Employees are awesome. Overall I think that this store should stay in Business

Open until 9pm which is great when I just absolutely NEED to connect up my new tv! HDMI cable was only $ 14, which was awesome, and I was helped immediately and efficiently with the guy on site! Was in and out in five minutes.

My review is based solely on calling this store and trying to see if they had a charger for my phone. Today is Sunday, the store opened at 10am… I called about 12:30pm. The phone must’ve rang for 90 seconds, no one picked up. I wait 5 minutes and call back… a girl answers«RadioShack, how may I help you?» I tell her I m looking to see if your store has a charger for my cell phone. She hangs up on me. So 2 calls and still no idea if they sell what I m looking for. If the place weren’t a 5 minute walk away, I would’ve gave up. I call one last time and a guy picks up. I tell him I just called twice — no one even picked up the first call after a long wait and the second call, this girl just hangs up on me. His response… no apology or anything, he could care less in his tone… he was like ok what do you want?! I asked who’s the manager of this store. He said that he was… Yikes!!! Anyway, bottom line is the charger for my cell was $ 22.99. Ridiculous price. how is RadioShack even in business these days? And how in the world is the RadioShack in Astoria on 31st street in business?! Ridiculous prices and very rude customer service from the manager of the store. Unless you’re in a pinch, I’d avoid the disappointment of overpaying for an item and then being treated like garbage.

The pro: comparably priced items to other electronics places. An automatic exchangable policy that’s available to buy for a few extra bucks, one that allows you to exchange/receive store credit for items that go defective without a receipt and for a year. The con: customer service. The tattooed guy who seems to be the manager on duty is rude, surly, and terse. Not really nice to snap at people on New Year’s Day, but as I happened to compliment the exchange policy, I was glared at and told, «We’re done.» As for the rest of the staff, they’re fine. They seem a little lackadaisical or bored, but not inept. In the times I’ve browsed or shopped, I’ve never seen any sort of rudeness. The manager is a blatant rude exception.(Way to go, Manager.) I think if you go around NY, you’ll get a range of prices that are basically satisfactory, and Radio Shack is still a convenient place to get computer/electronic-related goods. But, the customer service can afford to be a lot more civil.

Why do they have website says«in stock at store», but they really aren’t?! That’s why RadioShack sux big time and I end up at their competitors /on line. They really aren’t your local electronics store. And service sux here.

My experiences here have all ended the radio shack way: overpriced with lackadaisical service. Most radio shacks that I’ve frequented usually had unusual parts that couldn’t be found in most electronic /gadget /hardware stores. This particular location has a limited selection of some very generic items(headphones, TVs, various cables, media, etc.) and of course all semi over priced. Thats just the way Radio Shack is and since there are no other stores in the immediate area that offer as much competition, this may be it for some folks. Ironically however, I don’t see too many folks here during my occasional passing-bys. Could it be that they have caught on to the same trend that exists at many Radio Shacks? Maybe with prices like a $ 15 parallel cable and $ 21.95USB cord would lead people to look elsewhere. I remember coming here and asking something specific like for a SATA cable(for the hard drives) and the tech savy staff was instantly confused. Calling is not much better because instead of telling me if a particular item is available, I’m encouraged to «come by the store and check it out.» I don’t know if I can come by here for anything, as I’ll take my chances in Manhattan.

What I love about Radio Shack is that it is really affordable. i got a stack of 50 CD-Rs here for 8 bucks. Across the street at the old Eckerd the same thing would have cost me 25 dollars. It’s an average store and then you meet the employees and you want to keep coming back for more. I’ve only ever seen guys that work here and they are always very eager to help you find what you need. They don’t hide behind the counter and pretend not to see you because they can’t really. The counter is smack in the middle of the store. It’s unavoidable. Like the plague. Makes it hard to leave the store without buying something. Hottie Adrian who works here nearly got me to purchase a pair of headphones. We were totally miscommunicating but I think part of that had to do with the fact that his lips were so delicious-looking that I couldn’t really focus on what was coming out of them. I was just watching them move. I was totally crushing when I lived here and would mentally wave to him everyday as I made my way home from the train. Love my(former) local radio shack. Anything is better than Best Buy.
