Have to start off with a frozen Margarita and a Diablo! I highly suggest the Regular Dinner, their enchiladas are the best in town!÷

Just had a great dinner there. Good vegetarian options on the menu, great chips, and excellent service. As a vegetarian, I am used to many restaurants having just meatless versions of the same old dishes, but this place has inventive and fun options. I had the veggie Chile relleno with a tomatado sauce(almost Italian tomato type sauce). It was a great dish but near the end I found a piece of rogue chicken in it. I let the server know and they profusely apologized, even the manager came over and apologized and assured me that it would be addressed with the kitchen. They removed it from the bill without my asking and talked about how they strive to be vegetarian and gluten-free friendly. I would definitely eat there again!

Very nice place. Lots of people. Had the chicken fajitas. Very spicy! Food presented in very pleasing way. Recommended by family members when asked for best fajitas restaurant nearby. Recommend!

If you have eaten at a Maudie’s it is like all the others. Every consistent with there food and quality. Service was good, kept drinks, chips and salsa full. Food was well seasoned and fresh. The prices are very reasonable, only down side it that some of there dishes won’t fill you up if you are overly hungry

When I lived down south I came here all the time. The food is always really good and they have a great happy hour! I would highly recommend this location to anyone who is down south!

this restaurant is lacking in something, stopped here for convenience. Won’t be returning because many other better places I would had rather gone.

For my last night of complete calorie debauchery, I chose to come here. Mostly cause my kid wanted chips, and we hadn’t been here before. I’m on the fence about returning. The highlight of my meal was my kids cheese quesadilla, and I felt like pulling it from her little hands to devour them myself. We ordered the typical Queso fare, and waited on chips to arrive. It’s weird when the cheese gets there first. Like– how do you eat that? It was basic melted velvetta. Kinda hard to mess that up. But I guess you could burn it. Salsa not my favorite. Kinda thick and spicy. But ice cold. I ordered the poblano crema chicken enchiladas. Sounds soooo good right? Taste like bland milk on some shredded chicken. Not so yummy anymore eh? The sauce was not flavored and had a consistency of cottage cheese in some areas, half and half in others. And there was nothing but chicken on the inside. Where is the creativity? Where is the Tex-mex? For the record the only thing that differs authentic Mexican and Tex-mex. Is the cheese. And no cheese in my dish. Why the travesty? I poured my Queso on it. Just hoping for some flavor. Nope. Still a murky mess, lacking mostly my desire to eat it. That being said– left on the plate. The beans and rice? Even worse. No salt. Meh. Those quesadillas look pretty tempting still. At least I ate some chips. Dang expensive ones now. The décor is different. Looks like a snow lodge of some sort. I imagine that’s odd in the summer time. Vaquero snow bunnies.

The food here is always excellent and usually the service is too. But this last time was a little sketchy. Our family of 6 was called to sit in a large booth and then the long haired host in the front said he wasn’t talking to us, but instead the 3 girls waiting in front of us. There was another smaller booth and table ready that could have fit them but he insisted that they requested it. We then tried to squeeze into the smaller booth and had my toddler in a high chair on the outside of the booth. After about a minute another staff member came and said we had to move the high chair. So we had to move twice in about 3 minutes. It doesn’t make sense to let small parties request big booths during high volume times. Other than this time service has always been wonderful and this will not keep us from coming again.

Huge dinning area. Nice décor. Staff pleasant, friend. A table for 9 adults was assembled immediately. Color, slightly confusing, offered a large selection of TexMex items. Breakfast menu was good. Our device was prompt hot delivery. Favor was above average. The«heat» was flavorful.

Queso and breakfast tacos on a Saturday afternoon! Mmmmmmm… I love that they have breakfast all day, not usually super packed. Awesome weekend breakfast option! Full bar if that’s your thing too. And a patio!

The food here is good. Everything seemed super fresh and made to order. Sometimes at mexican restaurants you get the feeling everything is sitting back there pre-made and covered in sauce — not the case here. I had the beef lovers enchiladas. They were good — not mind blowing amazing, but good solid enchiladas. The husband had the Poblano Crema Beef Enchiladas, which he loved. We had a friend with us that ordered pastor tacos. He said they were ok as well. The service could have been better honestly, but no major issues. The chips and salsa were good. The atmosphere here is very nice and a little more upscale than your typical Mexican food restaurant. I would come back here probably since it is in my neighborhood, but it is not my first choice for tex mex in South Austin.

This Maudie’s rocks! Well, all Maudie’s locations rock(with the exception of the airport) but there is a cool«hacienda» vibe at this one. It’s like having margaritas and queso in some fancy rancher’s man cave. I always end up at this location for brunch because I have errands to run in the area. If you’re wanting a full brunch you can get a big dish with lots of sides or if you just want something small you can get a single taco. They have American style options like pancakes too. 10⁄10 would brunch again.

So after a great first impression of Maudie’s I’ve been let down several times since. The food quality is quite inconsistent. Each dish I’ve ordered with avocado(including avocado bean tacos) has come with a sliver of avocado. I asked for more once only to receive one more sliver. If I do take-out I buy my own avocado. I ordered the Sheryl’s dish and it was a soggy mess of inedible food. I’d like a refund if anyone from Maudie’s is reading this. Also, I took a large party here and our server tried to guess everyone’s age at the table(unsolicited). As you can imagine we had quite a few upset folks as he guessed some people at 10 years older — this is never okay in life! After several bad experiences I can no longer endorse this restaurant and don’t think I can give it another try.

Meh is the right word. Overpriced and mediocre tex-mex food(if you can call it that.) I don’t get why this place is so popular when there is so much better out there. This place is just typical chain type food and atmosphere.

Grabbed a to go order from here. Restaurant is nice with their inside and outside areas. I had the chipotle chicken enchiladas. Tasted great a little on the hot side for me. The red sauce was great. Beans and rice were average. Rockin Ruthann’s was two chicken burritos smothered in chili con queso. Hubby loved them. I liked that they included 4 tortillas on the order without asking which was nice. Order also included chips and salsa which were pretty darn delicious too. Turnaround time when we ordered was 15 minutes. Parking was easy for pick ups too. No one parks on the back side of the Randall’s.

Food is good, margaritas are even better! Not a fan of the interior as it reminds me of a generic family dinning chain found anywhere. I do however like the patio with fans to keep cool in the summer. Try Happy Hour and get a large marggie, you won’t be sorry!

Great Margaritas! Great Queso! In my mind those are the two things that make or break any Mexican restaurant! Great margaritas and queso. We came in last night for dinner. Frozen Margaritas: Potently strong and tasty! Not too sweet, not watered down at all. Mmmm I’m ready for another one! Chile con Queso: Where do I begin!?! Get in my mouth, that’s where! The queso was da bomb. Not too thin, not too thick. Great flavor! Served hot & delicious. Shrimp Stuffed Avocado: 5 Stars! While it’s not a large portion, it’s tastes AMAZING! Lots of shrimp, tons of flavor! Would definitely order Again! Definitely gave Trudys a run for their money. I think Maudie’s is BETTER. Plus it’s not fried. Chicken Especial Quisadillas: 8 large triangle servings! Lots of shredded chicken, lots Ch-ch-cheeeese, lots of Flava-Flave!!! Service was a lil slow though… okay that’s being nice, after serving us our drinks, our waitress completely disappeared and wasn’t attentive at all. Drink & Chips Refills non-existent. She was really friendly when present, but that was seldom throughout our meal.(Minus 1-Star) :(

Tried this place for the 1st time last night and had a really good spicy margarita. It’s always a plus when a server can answer the question and give me a recommendation for their restaurant’s best margarita. It is a mexican restaurant. Mojito was spot on as well. As far as food, definitely tasty. I think I’ll try the tacos next time bc I don’t think I can give a good review based on an order of bean and cheese nachos. I did love the queso options. The queso with beef was really good. Boyfriend said the ranchero enchiladas were okay but nothing spectacular. I am not likely to order enchiladas so I cannot vouch for his opinion. I would recommend for drinks and appetizers for sure. I will eat at Maudie’s again.

I want to give it more stars, but I just can’t… I’ve tried Maudie’s several times in the past and always felt, well, lacking. My latest visit two weeks ago confirmed this. Early on a Saturday evening — before 6 — we were still able to get a table for two without a wait. We were probably the last ones to be so lucky. By the time we left about an hour later, there was a significant waiting line. What’re they waiting for I wondered? The hostess was not bad at all. Our server? Well, its Austin. She dropped off menus, and hardly waited long enough to take our drink orders and then we waited. And waited. Chips were delivered along with salsa. Chips okay. not great. Salsa. Blah. Plain. I had the Mexican Special(Plate?) Salad, crispy beef taco and two cheese enchiladas. For $ 10 it seemed on the high side, especially since the salad was mostly shredded lettuce. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great. As in, I gotta get back here. It was okay. My friends meal was the same but she did not care for her rice at all — if you’ve read my other food reviews though you know I recognize how hard it is to get Spanish rice right. Few places do it well. Other than the odd waiter who seldom stopped by the table(as in never after the food was served) it wasn’t bad, but its not something I’d count on, thus two stars. All those people waiting at the door when we left? I’m assuming they never had good Tex-Mex and didn’t know any better…

I used to really love this palce back in the day and I would always order the creamy poblano chicken enchiladas. I stopped in one night and sat at the bar, just missed happy hour :’(and I sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and gave me plently of time trying to figure out which rita I wanted to go with. If I must say, get the frozen classic in a fishbowl with a floater of gran marnier. Rather than sipping down a $ 10 on the rocks quickly and having to get another one I was able to slowly sip on my one x-large on for $ 10 and it not only lasted my whole meal but it effectivly gave me a little buzz. The chips and salsa were not bad but they were not anything to rave about. The food was meh, I remember it being better. You would think afte rnot having Texmex in years I would have enjoyed it better. It was okay but I feel like it lacked in something. I prob won’t be back for dinner but maybe a nice xl rita during happy hour next time.
