Finally decent pizza in Austin. Good atmosphere. Great Caesar Salad. The size of the pizza is enough to split with another person or eat the whole thing on your own. Try the mushroom pizza.

I don’t like to throw the«I was born and grew up in Italy, so I know pizza» card around too often, but let’s just say I was born and grew up in Italy, so I know pizza. Long story short, Unit-D Pizzeria was an incredible surprise for a place we’d never heard of before. Their pizza takes like Italy. That’s the only way I can describe it. Nothing else I’ve tasted in Austin even comes close. As our helpful waiter Carl pointed out, the pizza oven is from Naples(hey, we both are!), so that’s probably where the taste comes from. We had the cheese plate, a pepperoni pizza, a mushroom pizza, and the sundae for dessert. Carl also recommended a wine that went great with the meal. EVERYTHING was awesome. Everything was the best. I cannot stress how great this place is. A little small, but so well put together. If you don’t try this place… I just… I don’t know. Why… why wouldn’t you? I’ll go with you, if that’s the issue. I want that pizza again. It’s even good cold the next day.

This is the spot in Austin for a pizza with a taste profile like no other. The combination of sausage, fennel and dill still has me wishing for another slice. I took my whole family and ordered several different pizzas(including a delicious cheese pizza for my daughter) and each time it got harder and harder to determine our favorite. All of the pies had such delicious flavor combinations and the crust just sets it off. Add a kale salad, and a local brew or tasty wine from their curated selection and you can’t go wrong. It’s so good! I love this Eastside spot and luckily they also do take-out.

I live a couple of blocks from this pizza place and went for a quick dinner with a friend a week ago. I’m happy to report that I’ve found a solid dinner spot in the neighborhood. We got the meat and cheese board and the mushroom pizza. To be totally honest, a long with the service, the meat and cheese board made my experience a four and not a three. They had an awesome selection of different types of cured meats and four different types of cheeses. The cheeses were exquisite and their selection really made every bite different. It was served with champagne soaked peaches which were spectacular. Pizza was okay. Pretty straight forward mushroom pie. Maybe next time I’ll get something with red sauce. The service was fantastic. Gracious and quick without being hover-y. I’ll definitely be back!

This a solid new option for pizza. The 5 of us got their mushroom pizza, pepperoni pizza, and their cheese and meat plate. We liked the mushroom pizza best. It had the most flavor and depth. The pepperoni wasn’t bad, just did not hold up next to the mushroom. Their cheese and meat plate was average. Service was good and the setting is nice. I may not run back here, but wouldn’t say no if a friend wanted to check it out.

First things first. This place REEKS of truffle. From the second you open the door, your olfactory senses will be assaulted with the foul odor of this woodland abonimation. If you are one of the millions of sane Americans who recognize that truffles are a plague thrust upon us from the forests of hell, the smell of this place is going to make you uneasy. Probably 1⁄3 of the pizzas have truffle oil on them, so when a server walks by with one in hand, you’re going to get a big whiff of it. Be prepared. Bring nose plugs if necessary. And now, for the good: The décor and atmosphere are adorable. The service is fantastic. They have a nice beer and wine list, including one of my favorites on tap(Lone Pint Yellow Rose). The salads were EXCELLENT. There are only 3 on the menu, two of which contain fruit of some sort, and one of which isn’t vegetarian. My boyfriend happens to be a vegetarian who has a strange but fierce opposition to fruit in salad. He ordered the kale and pickled peach salad expecting not to like it, but changed his tune with the first bite. If you’re okay with«hard» kale, this is the salad to order. SOTASTY. The beet«salad»(no greens, just beets and yogurt) was amazing as well. The golden beets were so sweet they almost tasted like a dessert when paired with the yogurt. Highly recommended. Since we weren’t terribly hungry and we already had salads, we ordered just one pizza to split — the Tomato pizza. Sauce was lacking in a way that I couldn’t put my finger on(no brightness? no complexity?) and was VERY watery. So watery that by the time the pizza got to the table, the crust was already largely soaked through. Speaking of crust, I know this style of pizza is supposed to have a bit of a… char, but the entire edge of our pizza crust was essentially black. If you enjoy pizza crust vaguely reminscent of charcoal, this is the place for you. The mozzarella might have saved it, except it was largely absent, just a couple stingy dollops here and there. It was edible, and by no means bad, but after tax and tip we paid nearly $ 60 for two beers, two small salads, and a small-ish mediocre pizza that had no meat. With places like Vetri, Backspace, and Bufalina in town, it will be hard to justify coming back.

You know what I can’t get enough of? Pizza. And I guess that makes me pretty darn American. This place opened up after we moved from this side of town, which makes me sad because it’s a killer addition to the booming area that would’ve made our stay there super awesome time-ness. It’s pretty small and cozy on the inside with a little bar area where you can watch them roll out some dough and fold pizza boxes … it’s more interesting than you think. We started with the 4 meats board and DEARLORD. I could feed myself that board all day, everyday. It was so good! And this from someone who considers meat and cheese boards to be a huge waste of money. Then we ordered a greens pizza to go. We did try one slice before we left and while I prefer a stiffer crust, David didn’t seem to mind its doughness. To each their own, I suppose. I’d gladly stop in here again when we’re back over this side of town. I love seeing Manor getting some more restaurant options without seemingly losing its cozy, neighborhood feel.

Went on a Wednesday and it was pretty easy to get a table but i can see how it could be an issue other days of the week. The parking is a little funky but we did get a spot after waiting a minute so no big deal. We got an order of the wood fired olives and they were very tasty and a regular pepperoni pizza. The pizza was sort of average for me personally, good sauce, good crust and good meat but its not something i would go out of my way to tell people about. Food portions are a little small so it would have been nice to have a large size available.

I can’t think of anything that needed improvement! We had the four meats and four cheeses charcuterie board to begin and followed with the lamb and fennel pizza. The shallot confit was like candy! The pizza was simple, which is how I like quality ingredients showcased. Our service was really spot on, too– very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The atmosphere is very intimate as well, and luckily it wasn’t slammed when we visited on a rainy November night.

Boy, Oh boy! This place is something special. As as a party of 3, we ordered half of the menu, and everything was good. No joke! All the dishes we ordered were tasty and delightful! This place is a gem. We ordered the broccolini, caesar salad, and cheese plate(shallot confit is all sorts of yummy) as starters. For pizzas, we ordered the sausage and mushroom pizza. I preferred the mushroom pizza. Odd since I feel weird without having some kind of protein on my pizza. The crust is done superbly. I can’t say enough good things about how awesome that crust is. The crust is thin and chewy – giving the pizza a nice bite to it. I think this place is on par or maybe better than Bufalina(may need to eat more pizza to decide!). Don’t forget about dessert here too! The marscapone sundae and chocolate gelato were heavenly. Simply divine. The marscapone sundae tasted like a deconstructed Snickers bar, and who doesn’t love that? The gelato was perfectly balanced with a nice cherry syrup. The desserts completely won me over. We did try the rice pudding, but the other 2 desserts overshadowed the crap of the rice pudding. Come here; order stuff and expect a great meal!

Beyond the AMAZING food at Unit-D, everything else is superb. I called in advance to make a reservation for my party of 15 on a Monday night, which was ready and waiting when we arrived. They were awesome about checking in about any particular needs and accommodating everyone, especially the kiddos that came with us. They even offered to do a pre-fixe menu to make sure we didn’t have to wait for too long. Being a Monday we decided it wasn’t necessary, but great to know that the option exists. With happy hour food and wine specials, we had plenty to nibble on while all of the guests arrived. The ½ off bottle of featured wine that night was delightful, and they made sure to tell us when happy hour was nearing an end so we could make sure to order as many as we needed at the discount price. The apps, sides, salads and pizzas are simple but all really unique. Pizzas are plenty big to share between 2 or 3 people, in my opinion, and came out super quickly for us. My favorite was the mushroom, but I like each of the ones that I tried. We were a huge group, but I can totally imagine coming here on a date or with one other person. It’s both spacious and cozy, with a very neat and orderly layout and has its own parking lot. A great addition to the Manor Road«strip» as I’ve started calling it.

This is my second time visiting Unit-D and I have been so impressed. The first visit was a quick dinner at the bar where we watched the pizzas being baked, enjoyed the olives, carrots, and the greens pizza. THATPIZZA!!! But truffle on anything and Ill eat it, but they do it so well. Their crust is thin, with a little puff at the top, chewy, and delicious. Last night we went for my husbands birthday and split the carrots, the caesar, the mushroom and the tomato pizzas. I wish the carrots were a larger portion for $ 7ish but they are delicious so I can forgive the portion size. The mushroom pizza was tops– truffle, mushroom, cauliflower, and some sherry vinegar which adds this nice sweeteness– the whole things is umami madness and I love it. The tomato was fresh, very traditional and top notch as well. We left paying about $ 65 including tip for those 4 plates as well as a good beer. Not bad at all in my book. Until I receive food or service unlike what we experienced, I will keep coming back for this 5 star experience. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable and adorably matching in their winter flannel shirts ;) Keep up the good work, Unit-D!

I am so happy this place opened. I will say that I have never been to Bufalina but this place is amazing. Before coming here, the best stone oven pizza I had was from Backspace and I think this place really gives it a run for its money. We had a party of ten and were seated easily(which I doubt will last long once everyone finds out about this place). The waiter scared us a bit by telling us they can only cook 2 pizzas at a time for the whole restaurant so we might want to share because of the possible wait between pizzas. This ended up not being an issue at all. Still not sure if they lied about that or a pizza cooks in less than three minutes but all the pizzas were out in a matter of minutes of each other. While most of the pizzas were great, I think the mushroom pizza was the best. Also, not sure if this was because all the other pizzas we tried were amazing but the sausage pizza was very average. I think if it was the only pizza we got, then it would have been differently but after loving the pepperoni, the greens, the tomato, and the mushroom, the sausage was nothing special.

I split the ceasar salad and the tomato pizza with a friend. The ceasar was really good and we gobbled it right up. The tomato pizza was good, but I have a few other establishements that I like better for pizza. The take away from the tomato pizza is that, while having plenty of tomato, it didn’t have enough of the other compliments to round out the taste. It needed more cheese(all I saw were a few scattered pieces of mozzarella) and herbs.

Wow. What a lovely kale salad combined with pickled peaches. It made me feel alive. The cheese plate wow I love you like a long lost relative. I await my mushroom pizza. I know you will make me happy coming from your wooden oven with Stereolab pumping in the background. Servers you are oh so nice, I want to hug everyone in here.

We were fortunate to get the chance to try Unit-D for a work dinner which meant tons of food! First off the menu is relatively small but seems to have all the key pizzeria areas covered. They have(or at least at the time) Yellow Rose on tap which for beer snobs is a big two thumbs up. We started with a meat and cheese board along with some olives. The board is served with their pizza crust as bread which is delicious, really had to be careful here not to scarf down a ton before dinner. Next out was the kale salad and some broccoli rabe. I am usually a little nervous with pure kale salads but the one they have hear is excellent. Must have been something about the mix of cashew and lemon, not sure but I enjoyed the bites that I had. For pizza we just went with one of everything for our party of 9. They all were good though the few stand outs for me personally were the pepperoni and the cheese. Neither of us are huge lamb people so the sausage with fennel wasn’t nearly our favorite. The wife loved the mushroom(very rich flavor so a slice was plenty) and also the tomato pizza. We were too full to try the greens but the table consensus was that it was fresh and delicious. For dessert we had to have a go at some sorbet. Three very different flavors, all being delicious but the table favorite seemed to be summer melon with mint as the runner up. For being a new spot in town Unit-D is without a doubt worth a try. The pizzas are well priced and easy to share between two. The crust is one of the better thin ones we’ve had in town and you really taste the wood fired flavoring.

We’ve been on a pizza kick lately and new restaurants in town always jump to the top of our list. This one was no exception. At 6:30 on a Saturday night there were plenty of tables. They gave us our choice, but we were unaware when we said«community table» that they would seat us at the one that was directly in the blaring sun from the window. Another server(not our own) graciously noticed that and later offered to move us. The pizza was GOOD. Fresh, wood fired, with good flavors. Just wish they had more meat/veggies. I feel like our entire meal was nothing but bread and cheese. The greens pizza is amazing though. I was most excited about getting a cheese board, only to discover that you don’t get options. There are 4 cheeses that come on it and that’s it. One of those is a blue cheese and my husband and I both can’t stand blue cheese. We asked if we could substitute that one for a second portion of one of the others and were told NO because it would thrown off their cheese amounts… seriously. Then the server came back and told us they could remove the blue cheese and take a few dollars off the price which was a perfect solution! Until the check came and they did not remove those few dollars. Removing One Star for poor customer service here. Other than that the meal and the atmosphere were lovely. A tad on the expensive side for pizza, but we have come to expect that lately.

Unit-D is a venerable contender for best pizza in Austin! Check them out! It’s about time the east-side got an upscale pizza joint. The Napoletana pizzas are thin, sized so you can share and try more than one flavor, but most importantly, they’re well thought out. We tried two pizzas: The sausage and the mushroom. For both pizzas(and as I learned, everything in the place), I was super excited to learn that everything(that they can) is made in-house. Dough, sauce, cheese, sausage, etc. The crust has a great chew with a sour tang; apparently from the crazy old starter that the Chef has. The sauce is sweet and tomatoey, the cheese was melty but firm(as mozz is). The sausage had exceptional flavor. Nothing was overpowering and everything played well together. The tasty sausage(red pie) was our yin to the yang of the sumptuous mushroom pie(white pie). The mushroom pie was super rich and sumptuous. Flavorful mushrooms, cheese, truffle oil and other ingredients all combined together like a symphony that was a taste-cation.(taste vacation?) For dessert we went simple with the chocolate gelato WHICHITSELFWASAMAZING! You wouldn’t think a pizza restaurant would have some of the best chocolate gelato that I’ve ever had but it did. You should get it. Dark chocolate with cherry glaze. The texture and temperature(freezing!) were exactly what I wanted. A perfect finish to our meal. Next time I’m going to come with even more of an appetite to try all the other pizzas! The place is cozy, service is great and it feels like you’re somewhere else. Take a small trip for dinner. Venture over to Unit-D!

This is our first pizzeria in the neighborhood, and it’s a welcome addition to Manor Row. The interior is upscale, full of wood and curves. The staff is attentive and friendly. They bring chilled bottles of water to the table, which is something I appreciate, as I drink more water than most servers have time to deliver to my table. We visited for the soft open, and enjoyed their introductory menu very much. With a small selection of Neapolitan-style pizzas, several salads and vegetable dishes, and a selection of cheeses and charcuterie, there is plenty to try. We started with the kale salad, which includes pickled peaches and millet, and I think there were some golden raisins in there as well. Absolutely delicious. I wanted to eat 5 of them. The pizzas come in one size(all about $ 15), which includes 6 small slices. This is important to note, because the pizza is so delicious, I wanted to eat 5 of them also. We had the pepperoni, because you want to start off with the basics(although I intend to try every single one of them before long). Every part of the pizza oozed quality and flavor. The crust is thin and delicious, the tomato sauce is zesty(bland marinara is a total pet peeve, and they did not fall into that all-too-common trap), the cheeses are absolutely delicious, incredibly rich and creamy, and the pepperoni was top notch. I’m guessing it came from Dai Due next door, or somewhere as fancy, because this is no run-of-the-mill pepperoni. It’s thin and crispy around the edges, adding to the overall richness of the pie. I wish we’d had time for dessert, because that melon sorbet is calling my name. I somehow suspect I’ll be working my way through that portion of the menu as well. Since we’re a 3-minute walk from this place, I’m guessing we’re about to become regulars.
