Really great sushi! We had the mega crunch roll and the volcano. Both were awesome. Large hot sake seemed small, but maybe that’s just me.

Food is good but no competition, so you get 5 pieces per roll! They used to give you more. I won’t be back! $ 18 for 10 bites!!! Pass

Great selection, cuts of fish, and menu as a whole. For an island restaurant, it could be a little bigger to accommodate the rushes but the servers are great when things get hectic. Just moved over from Seattle and I can honestly say this is in the top 3 sushi restaurants anywhere in the Puget sound area.

I’ve been here several times, and while my experience has been colored by the fact that our dinners are always happy family occasions, I also think they do good sushi. I have always been very happy with the rolls and the sashimi tastes great — very fresh and delicious. When we recently went with a large party our server was very friendly and patient. Everything was perfect. I will continue coming back when I’m in town.

Soooooo good! My husband and I went there for our anniversary, had to sit at the bar because all the tables were full, but it was fun watching the chefs! Service was a little weird, had to ask different people for help because we couldn’t find our waitress. The most important thing though is the food and it was delicious! I wish I could remember which rolls I got. One of them blew my mind, the other was above average.

This place is amazing!!! Sushi was a standard dinner in my home growing up. And this place serves the best in Kitsap. Well worth the drive. Ingredients were fresh and oh so good. We ordered the Mariner’s roll, croquettes, and another baked roll that was amazing. I was hesitant at first, but the baked roll was delicious!!! And the establishment was clean and well taken care of. Service was polite, prompt, and very attentive. I’m definitely returning soon.

They advertise that they close at 9:00PM. So we arrived at 8:15. I decided to order some small plates to have a variety. But not knowing exactly how small they’d be I told our server that I might order something else if I was still hungry. She told me that I’d better make up my mind then and there because«last call» is at 8:35! Then, at around 8:45 while we’re still eating, the kitchen crew rolled big, noisy trash cans through the dining room. Our server, put on her coat, put our bill on the table without a word and left! One of the small plates I ordered was popcorn shrimp. Expecting freshly light-battered shrimp, I was disappointed; they were like popcorn shrimp you would get out of the freezer section at COSTCO. My salad was drowned in salad dressing. The décor is nice, though not nice enough to get me to go back. And Mr. Subi… I AM a local.

Three reasons to avoid: overpriced, wait times are ridiculous, and management has no clue. Major piss off – tried three times to go, even with reservations-and had to wait. Went in yesterday, stood there for 8 minutes before manager came up He looks around and says no available table(there were five running the length of the place) then says sushi bar? I said ok. He goes and starts cleaning it off. Now 15 minutes in waiting he says it will be s while before I can order. Here’s the scoop: owner hasn’t enough waiters so he assumes patrons will just wait until staff can take care of you. And then when you get seated it takes forever to get the food, kitchen staff as thin as waiter staff. He makes money with overpriced food, understaffed and overworked staff and patrons that put up with such practices. So annoying. Three out of four visits and no more. All the reviews talk about the sushi, not about the«greeter.» Ms. M’s review is spot on. Do not waste your money. For a 15 minute drive you can enjoy better and less expensive Japanese food – Taste Wei in Poulsbo will knock your lights out. Great views, art deco, sharp staff and a great menu selection.

This was the WORST… absolute WORST… sushi/Japanese restaurant experience EVER! The 3 of us stopped by here on a Friday at 5:15. The restaurant was practically empty yet the host who«greeted»(and I use that term loosely) coldly told us that he didn’t think he could get us in. I made the comment, «That’s funny, it doesn’t look busy. You must have a lot of people who have reservations.» He sighed and said, «Okay. I can get you a table, but only at the community table.» We were taken to the community table that had only one couple sitting there. The waitress who greeted us wasn’t rude, but she wasn’t very friendly either. She looked exhausted. We placed a very simple order… nothing fancy or deviating from the menu. I ordered a Tempura roll. I then excused myself to the restroom which is outside of the restaurant. While walking past the hostess desk, a family of 3 asked for a table. The father told the host they didn’t have a reservation. The host smiled brightly saying he could seat them. WHAT??? Just 10 minutes earlier that same host treated us like criminals for not having a reservation. And then I realized… the family of three were REGULARS!!! After waiting a FULL20MINUTES after placing our order, the waitress came back and said she couldn’t remember what roll I had ordered. HUH? You’re coming back 20MINUTESLATER to ask me about my order? We waited and waited and waited, while other parties who had come in after us, were served their food. Our waitress returned once and said she was sorry that our order was taking so long. We had less food than the other tables yet ours was taking sooo long. FINALLY, after 40MINUTES, our food arrived and it was TERRIBLE!!! My tempura sushi was cold and old tasting. My husband said his rolls were disgusting, but he was so hungry he ate it anyway. My daughter said her rolls were the worst she had ever eaten. I only ate one piece of my roll and then put it aside. The waitress noticed and asked me what I thought. By now, I was really angry. REALLY angry. So, I told her what I thought about my roll. She was kind enough to remove it from the bill. When we left, we laughed because the restaurant never came close to filling up with customers. Why the host treated us the way he did may forever remain a mystery. We may or may not return to the Island in the future, but hopefully, my review will save someone else from making the same mistake we did.

Great sushi restaurant; I go here even if it was in Seattle. They had lots of items that I didn’t expect to see on Bainbridge Island(Toro, Uni, Aji). The portion sizes and prices were great compared to the sushi restaurants I’m used to in Seattle. The service was pretty good too. I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this place!

Not sure what people want who give this place less than 5 stars. It is so well run. Great, diverse and innovative menu. If you love sushi and other great pan Asian dishes give it a try. Good service without feeling rushed.

Subi is somewhere I didn’t go too much until recently because I’m now suddenly really enjoying sushi… now I’m really glad it’s here! Subi is located conveniently in the Madison movie theater Pavillion. It is decently sized and great for groups and also small get togethers. The interior décor is really great! Each spot(except the community tables) feels closed off and intimate. Some people complain about the discomfort of the seats but in personally don’t have an issue. They even have a private room with a low style table that looks really cool but I have yet to be in a large enough group to eat there. Wait staff is always pleasant or at least thorough and serviceable, no complaints here. Subi has a very big menu. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the number of choices, but always find something I like. They have a lot of different rolls, varying from raw to tempura style. My mom thought the rolls she had there were the best sushi she had ever had! The one thing at Subi is that their ramen is pretty mediocre/forgettable. If you’re going to go there, stick with the sushi– it’s great! Overall, Subi is a solid choice for dinner or lunch on the island. It has great parking, great atmosphere, and s great selection of sushi.

I was scrolling through unwritten reviews today and was shocked, I say shocked, that I hadn’t yet written a review of SUBI. This is the best sushi on Bainbridge, I’m not sure, it may be the only sushi on Bainbridge apart from the T&C. But, I love to go in, sit at the sushi bar and have some rolls. The staff is friendly, the sushi is fresh, and the chefs are fun. My cutie and I make it one of our favorite date nights, because we can order slow and just relax with good food.

Really love this place. I just eat rolls but always enjoy SuBi’s freshness — nothing is ever overly fishy. Today was no exception. Went with two coworkers and had the spider roll, crunchy shrimp roll, miso soup and salad. One of my companions ordered the bento lunch box that looked delicious and was a great deal at $ 12 — included two decent sized pieces of teriyaki salmon, soup, salad, 4 California rolls, and a fun mini sized portion of kimchee, potato salad, Mac salad, and a shrimp croquet. Definitely my fav sushi spot in Kitsap.

Wonderful, fresh, & flavorful — great atmosphere too with a choice of seating in the semi-private room or a booth or communal table or experience the sushi bar while watching the master chef’s at work. Large selection of yummy rolls, but I always order a miso soup and salad too — the best I’ve had! they can get busy; make a reservation…

I would highly recommend this place!

I like this place, I may not be a food snob so I’ve never been burned by this place. I am glad they keep prices affordable without sacrificing taste. My fave is the Oh Yes role and I also like to get the edamame because eating two servings of roles will get me too full. Great place!

It’s time we all stop supporting this place just because it’s the only one on the island. It’s just not consistent anymore. Service is gone, rolls seem to be hiding in some mysterious place and finally appear but aren’t fresh anymore. Tonight the wasabi was watered down and the rice wasn’t sticky. Just say no to SUBI… drive to Silverdale or get the ferry and go to UMI or Moshi in Seattle.

Solid sushi(and more) place on the island. Better than most Seattle sushi joints. Consistent quality and loving kind hearted owners and staff. Chirashi dish is favorite. Good lunch deals with salad and miso!

Well, I’ve had amazing sushi, bad sushi, and average sushi. This sushi was maybe slightly higher than average, but the wait was incredibly long. The server did apologize for the wait and did warn us they were backed up. and upon leaving the hostess did say that she didn’t expect so many people on a Monday night. So that at least was nice of them. The combinations of the specialty rolls all seemed to work well. Nothing seemed weird like some sushi places offer. The sushi is presumably right from the ocean, so you would think the freshness would be overly apparent, but I found it no different than some of my favorite spots in Chicago. I am sure they can do better. but as I said the combinations were good. So. Your average sushi in my opinion.
