One of my favorite bars in Baltimore. Over the years I have developed a friendship with the bartenders it be a very friendly very efficient. This place has a very nice jukebox the plays all types of music it’s one of the best in the city you can hear from friends Sinatra to the latest 50 Cent song sometimes people come in and just play pool for couple of hours just listen to music and drinking Also interesting about those bars they have a countdown clock for counting down till St. Patrick’s Day I love Sam is clock in motion as I’m drinking my beer thinking about St. Patrick’s Day So if you’re looking for for only bar with lots of many people live it’s a great place to chill out and have a beer with the bartenders the prices are great and they’re very friendly

A solid dive bar. It’s cheap, they have a really awesome TV, pool table and the service is friendly. it’s a nice spot to go if you’re a local and don’t want to deal with all the college kids or ‘Bros’ that infest Fells on the weekends.

Awesome place, great crowd(ok on Friday and Saturday you do get the WOOOO Fells Point crowd sometimes), perfect small neighborhood bar. Excellent bartenders with lots of personality.

I read somewhere once that Baltimore has the highest number of bars on a per capita basis of any city in the US. I don’t doubt that to be the case. You can’t throw a crack pipe in this city without hitting a bar. The biggest problem with that factoid is that, aside from meaning that there’s a lot of drunk people in Baltimore, it means that there are never quite enough people to keep any one«scene» going for very long. Bars become«hip» for a blink of an eye, and a few months later it’s dead, as the crowd of kool kidz has moved elsewhere. The Blarney Stone definitely suffered from that phenomenon. For a while there, the same people who would hang out at Lulu’s and Friends would also hang out at Blarney Stone. It was one of the few places in Fells you could walk into on a Friday or Saturday night and have it be filled with pierced, tattooed rockstar wannabes instead of popped collar douchebags. But then it all changed… the crowd went away. I kept coming back, hoping to experience some of its former magic… but it was never the same. It had become just one of many depressing, dead, unfun, dive bars in a city filled with hundreds if not thousands of places exactly like it.

I absolutely LOVE Irish pubs. I’ve spent many a-nights, and days in them, enjoying Guinness and the good people. Heck, I’m even half Irish, I’m meant to be in them! However, I was disappointed with the lack of patrons in Blarney’s. The bartender also wasn’t really engaged with us, even though we were two of only eight people in the bar. Which is fine, that’s not the m.o. of every pub. He did point in the direction of Bertha’s when we inquired about a good locale seafood joint. We left here really uninspired, it was just alright. Hence why maybe the lack of customers here on a saturday night.

The thing I miss the most about Baltimore(my home for 3 years), aside from my best friend, is my home away from home, The Blarney Stone. This is my Cheers. I love the cheap drinks, I love the awesome and friendly bartenders, I love the actual wood of the bar. Everything in there is to make you feel comfortable and at home. If I had one complaint(and it’s not really their fault) is it can get PACKED with the«WHOOO! OMG, Heather, Tiffany, Chad and Brad» crowd on the weekends and they really go against the laid-back local feel that I love so much about it. But, as those people pay for drinks just the same as I do, I can’t begrudge my bartenders their paycheck. My suggestion is to go early on a Sunday and let the crowd grow around you. If you like a nice, small Irish style pub, this is your destination. If you like loud, bleach blonde tangerines with legs, the Green Turtle is right down the block.

The Blarney Stone is a cramped, unappealing dive bar with high-end prices. Compared to bars like Kooper’s, Max’s Taphouse or The Waterfront this place has absolutely nothing to offer. That would be ok with me if it was cheap, but it’s not. I’d never go here again when there are many more appealing places to hang out in Fells Point.
