It took roughly 5 minutes after being seated to be offered water. Both the hostess and the person who brought us water said our waitress would be over soon. You should note this is a very small place, and if our server couldn’t come right away then another server should have handled our table. There were almost as many servers as tables. I had to ask for the cocktail menu. The service was only OK which is disappointing because this is supposed to be the top tier restaurant at the resort. Moving on, the food was excellent. Filet perfectly seasoned and cooked with that beautiful pink center, I didn’t use any sauce. And, notable for rural Pennsylvania, the tuna steak and scallops were also delicious. Step up the service, lower the price a few bucks and you’d have 5 stars.

Catching up on some R & R and visited this restaurant for dinner and drinks. Lisa my waitress was very warm and pleasant. Hot fresh baked bread and warm butter is always a great way to start a meal! Seared scallops were very tasty, perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned. Not heavy and a perfect start to the meal. Smoked 14oz pork chop was absolutely smoky and delicious. Well seasoned and full of flavor. Paired with a glass merlot, buttery mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus was an excellent choice. Everything was cooked well and tasted great! For dessert, I decided on the vanilla bean crème brûlée with house made whip which was light and simply awesome. Not heavy at all and the hard caramel top was divine. If your in the area or visit this fabulous hotel, make a trip to 1796 room restaurant, you will not regret it.

We stayed at the Omni during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. On our first night we went to the 1796 room. We had the Cote de beof, mushrooms, chili and the red velvet cake. Everything was delicious but the steak(cote de beof) was one word… OUTSTANDING. If you love steak I would recommend eating it medium rare, unbelievable and major Kudos to the chef! Service was awesome too!

Be sure to make a reservation, this place fills up significantly with hotel guests. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing ambiance. Located in the original Stone Inn on the property, built in 1806, this room is loaded with wonderful historic artifacts. The needlepoints that line the wall were done by children at Bedford Springs, you can note that the letter J is missing since it wasn’t in common use at the time these were created. The rifles on display are a few of the items on loan to Bedford Springs to display(many of the remaining artifacts were donated that you can see around the tavern & restaurant). As far as dietary needs, this restaurant and Omni do a fantastic job. Our server was attentive to my needs to be gluten free. They serve gluten free bread to patrons that need it, and make sure that care is taken in everything served to their patrons. As a bonus, the pastry chef on property is gluten free, so there is a good understanding of the diet by the staff here. During this stop, I had the deviled eggs for starters. A small serving of 3 deviled eggs, they were nicely prepared, but it’s hard to «go beyond» expectations for a deviled egg recipe. In addition, I had the 8 oz. filet mignon served oscar style. It was prepared perfectly to medium rare as requested. Our server was very friendly and frequently checked on our needs. This is the second time we’ve had dinner here and both times they’ve met or exceeded all my expectations. I always look forward to stopping here during our stays at Bedford Springs, they provide a great dining experience in a historic atmosphere.

Wonderful atmosphere and Lisa was a most excellent server. The Filet Oscar style was delicious. My husband had the Seafood Tower and loved it. Couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate our wedded bliss.

My wife and I were staying at the Bedford Springs Resort and had the pleasure of dining at the 1796 restaurant. We had no idea what to expect other than it was a fairly well-regarded steakhouse. There were many interesting items on the menu aside from steak, but we were both intent on ordering beef. We were both really glad that we did. Both her fillet mignon and my strip steak were cooked and seasoned to perfection, and neither of us could find a flaw with either. The grilled asparagus side was simple but perfect. And the sweet potato mash was rich and silky smooth. The side dishes are basically«family style” — plenty for two. We had a great conversation with our waiter, Michael, who was very informative and just a really good guy. Yes, it’s pricey, but the quality and experience was well worth it.

The food was great. I would want to give this place a 4 ½. There seemed to be a reservation mix-up but they still seated us right away. Service was slow in the beginning, it took awhile to get in our orders, but picked up afterwards. I loved the arugula salad(I am a big fan of arugula). It came with generous portions of the lump crab. DH and I ordered the ribeye and ny strip. We both ordered it medium rare. The ny strip was tough(lesson learned) but I loved the ribeye. We chose the house made steak sauce for the ny strip and the lemon buerre blanc sauce for the ribeye. I was in food bliss combing the two sauces together with the ribeye. Side Items: Sautéed spinach and mushrooms(we finished it) and the Cajun crawfish mac and cheese. I didn’t taste the mac and cheese(I’m oddly picky with yellow cheese) but my DH who ordered it said he was disappointed by it and only ate a bite. For dessert, we shared the expresso crème brûlée; it tasted as good as it sounded. I look forward to dining here again.

This restaurant is name for year that Dr. John Anderson purchased the property where Bedford Springs Resort now stands. Service here is fairly attentive. On our first visit, we were living large. We decided to share a chilled seafood tower for two. Be sure to see the picture of this appetizer. It was amazing. It included lobster, shrimp, crab legs and tuna ceviche. Next, we shared a baby iceberg salad with tomato, Lancaster bacon, Potter County blue cheese with Cabernet vinaigrette. This salad was perfect, we loved it. Believe it or not, we continued to eat. BJ veal chop with blue cheese infused mash potatoes. I got twin petite filet mignon with rich & mushroom mélange. Both meals were perfect. For dessert, we shared a huge cupcake that they personalized for our anniversary. Such a nice touch!

We ordered in room dining from the 1796 Room. We wanted to order the seafood tower, but it is not on the menu as an in room option, since they can’t serve it in it’s usual grand display. But the chef said if we didn’t mind if it showed up looking a bit wonky that they could send one up. Well it showed up, looked fine and was delicious. Our other dinner items were very good as well. A great experience. They truly try to make the customer happy and succeeded.
