Lamb burger with feta: not your traditional burger but solid nevertheless. The lamb is pretty lean and the bread is light. Didn’t love it, bit I usually expect something a bit heartier for my burgers. Zing pizza: definitely unique, but not to my taste. Three types of meat and a ‘special’ sauce which I found a bit too sweet. I could see why others would like it though. Bread pudding: my SO really liked it, the mix of crispy outside and gooey inside, but I found it a bit monotonous. Something to cut the flavor(like vanilla ice cream) would have helped. Root beer(house made): this was great, and I normally don’t like root beer. Service was good and food was solid, plus everything is locally sourced, so worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We stopped here on a trip through Bedford thanks to the Unilocal reviews. I love the farm to table concept and they execute it well with a farmers market next door. The interior is really cool with lots of wood and rustic tables. We started with the sourdough and dipping oil. We literally fought over the last drops of oil. We ordered the 5 artisan cheese pizza and added bacon on half. The crust is perfectly toothy and the cheeses super melty and flavorful. We had 2 tween boys with us who really loved the root beer and cherry vanilla soda. And we grabbed a loaf of fresh sourdough for breakfast!

Wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived, but I’m glad we made the trip down here. First thing to note, they are BYOB, and I’m not sure if there is a corking fee. I admire what they are trying to do here: farm to table, organic items with a menu changing daily for lunch and dinner. Growing up in the Johnstown area I know these are all scary ideas and probably more expensive than the locals are used to. Considering the portion sizes of the entrees I’ll start by saying they are not overpriced. The starters and pizza? Maybe just a tad. We started with the plain pizza as an appetizer, which was great. Organic flour and local cheese and you wouldn’t necessarily tell the difference from your standard brick oven pizza I had the lamb chops, which had a perfect lamb rub that was to die for. Slightly overcooked to more of a medium well-well done, but considering the 30 minute wait between the pizza and entrée, I think they were having issues cooking them. This would be my biggest complaint, the pacing of the courses. It came with asparagus and what I thought was supposed to be risotto, was more of a wild rice medley, but still good. Almost every item as far as I can tell had local strawberries as part of the dish including the flatbread with strawberries, feta cheese and grilled onions, which was great. We also split a bread pudding and chocolate strawberry mousse dessert. They had a local folk band for the entire evening which was a great touch. Not overly busy for a Friday night, so hopefully they stick around for a while as is like to go back. They also sell some homemade items at the register and I couldn’t pass on the carrot finger trail mix. I tried the homemade mustard at the table and rather enjoyed it, and would’ve bought a loaf of bread if j wasn’t stuffed.

Absolutely beyond belief. Definitely one of the best meals I have had in a long time. WARNING: do not let the surrounding buildings sway your decision, the street leading up to Horn O Plenty is full of old, dilapidated buildings, which are a little scary. Not to worry, this place surpasses expectations by a long shot. the menus are on nooks as it changes every day. all ingredients are locally sourced. SO worth the wait. the service is a little slow but that is simply because of the fresh, from scratch food. think about it, how long would it take you to prep, cook and plate 3 beautiful, from-scratch meals? the waitress was extremely nice and welcoming as well 11 out of 10, definitely recommend and will be back next time we find ourselves passing through Bedford, PA.

Beautiful setting in the restaurant and everyone was extremely friendly. Ordered several dishes and everything was farm fresh. Innovative but classic in presentation and flavor. Nothing snooty here… just laid back.

This was our second visit to the restaurant; we had come a few years earlier and hoped for a rerun of the tasty food and atmosphere — though we remembered the service was slow. We arrived at 7:30 pm in a Saturday night In April 2016, per our reservation, and were seated in a timely fashion. Within a few minutes, we were given iPad menus and ordered two appetizers(carrot ginger hummus and rice and barley soup) and two entrees(a small pizza with 5 artisanal cheeses and a deep dish vegetable quiche), and two semi-sweetened iced teas. Overall, The service and wait time were horrible, and the food just middling. All told, we ended leaving the place at 9:39 pm. There were 4 or 5 wait staff, all scurrying around, but virtually non made eye contact with us in our booth, nor kept us abreast of our order. After easily 45 minutes, the appetizers arrived; the soup was unusually thick and more porridge than soup-like, and tasted just Ok. The hummus was quite tasty, but those orders should have come to our table quickly, as all were pre-prepared, certainly, in the kitchen — which is open to the dining room. After easily another 45 minutes, the entrees arrived. Meanwhile, after we had drunk our ice teas, and though they were billed as free refills, no one came over to offer refills. We actually went to the ice tea dispenser and helped ourselves after seeing fellow-diners do the same thing with water that never was refilled. The quiche, though fine, was served in a messy pile. The explanation was that the restaurant bakes the quiche in iron skillets and that they are then turned out onto the plate. The presentation, if that’s what it could be called, was atrocious. The quiche was in dozens of pieces. The accompanying small salad was filled with large leaves of greens, and somewhat difficult to eat and needed to be cut into much smaller, edible and bite-size pieces. The pizza was low quality; the crust was soggy and the dish was hardly stellar. Here, too, both dishes are not complicated to prepare and should not have taken long to bake in the kitchen. The server did finally bring ice tea refills between courses and apologized for the delay in service, saying some staff were sent home early that Saturday, not thinking there’d be so many customers. Dessert was so-so: some soupy chocolaty concoction with whipped cream; very forgettable. The server again apologized and, through her own volition, gave us a 20% discount, which was very nice of her. But at bottom, we suffered through more than 2 hours of excruciatingly slow service and second-rate food. While we support farm-to-table whenever possible, we will not be coming back a third time.

This was a bad dining experience. The service was sub par. Three or four tables that arrived after we were seated were served before us, and one table had left before our food even arrived. Our server was not responsive, and told us the wait was because of the staff having to wash their hands and wipe the counter. Apparently that takes one hour. We felt ignored, and told them. They took 20% off our bill, so there was that at least. Also, one of the sandwich orders was not correct. Overall a disappointing experience.

Sadly, this was not the experience we were hoping it would be. The service was abysmal. The food took an hour to arrive, and once it did, our orders were incomplete(sandwiches missing ingredients, etc.) The excuse given for the 60 minute wait was that our order of GF bread caused the kitchen staff to be sent into a tizzy. Perhaps they shouldn’t offer something if they are incapable of delivering it within a reasonable time. I will say that the egg salad was quite good. Other than that, this whole experience was a big 0.

This place is simply great. The hi tech iPad menu, meets wood fired oven cooking. We’ve eaten here over the past couple of years, and it’s consistently outstanding. If you like fresh, farm to table in a beautiful atmosphere, this place is for you. It’s BYOB, which is great to bring what you like. Great selection of iced teas and sodas too. I’ve never had a bad meal there – love it!

We were thrilled to find a farm to table restaurant in Bedford that not only had a menu that appealed to us(pizzas, soups, inventive entrees, homemade desserts) but also had reasonable prices and was BYOB. Our first trip(yes, first of two trips in one weekend!) was on Friday night. We brought a bottle of red and had scoped out a pizza that sounded good on their menu online. We found out their menus change almost daily, depending on what ingredients are available and fresh and what the chef has in mind. The night we arrived, they did have the pizza we had our eye on — the Zing! — and were serving some chicken thighs with their award winning BBQ sauce from a contest they’d won in the area. We started with a cup of their butternut squash and chicken stew, which came with a side of amazing house baked bread slathered in local butter. The entrees were wonderful — the chicken came with this amazing wood fired broccoli and sweet potato mash and — you guessed it — more homemade bread. The BBQ sauce would have definitely won an award in my book. It was tangy and sweet with an Asian flavor infusion(I think they said it was Korean inspired). We were certainly full of food and wine(and the crisp, cold water that was filled by our lovely server), but we had to try dessert. We went with bread pudding and cheesecake, which both came with a crème caramel sauce that absolutely blew our minds. We were so happy we didn’t throw in the towel(or decide to watch our calories). And as I mentioned, we enjoyed our meal so much that we had to come back for another helping on Sunday morning. Sunday, we got the Zing pizza again — it had pepperoni, sausage and this amazing bacon from a local farmer, a few kinds of cheese and a sauce made from their own spicy mustard and butter. The crust was on the thin side, with crisp edges from the wood fire, but still soft and chewy in spots. You could eat it solo, if you’re like us, or split it with another entrée among 2. It would also be perfect as an appetizer with a group of 4. Our second dish at breakfast was a chili skillet — chicken chili, scrambled eggs, cornbread and a cilantro lime yogurt sauce. We had learned the day before that there was a chili cookoff in Bedford by stumbling upon one of the sample stops. And come to find out, Horn O Plenty had won an award for their chili too! So, two award winning dishes in one weekend. Plus, our new favorite pizza, and some amazing desserts. If you are in the area, please give this place a try. It’s *plenty* worth it.

Yum! I ordered a half portion of one of their salads, and it was normal salad sized! I was pleasantly surprised. The menu is a little steep for me, so I limited myself to a soup and salad, which left me dreaming of how good the entrees must have been. One of my friends got their breads and dips platter, and I’ve never been more sad that I’m gluten free. The breads all looked fresh and delicious, and it came with 4 or 5 different cheeses and oils. Our waitress was welcoming and friendly, and on the way out she told me I could take one of their National Geographics from 2006 that I just couldn’t put down. If you happen to be in Bedford, give this place a visit! Also, it’s BYOB — wish we had known that going in, so here’s your heads up.

Unexpected surprise and gem in rural PA! Husband and I traveled to Bedford Springs for anniversary weekend and decided to have a low key meal at this BYO. Everything was fresh and superbly prepared. The pizza was amazing. Fit for foodies, vegans and the pickiest of eaters. Would definitely come back and bring our teenager next time too!

Fantastic food. They go above and beyond creating tasty creations with all organic and locally sourced dishes that please the senses. Very creative food that is not«out there,» but rather provides twists on traditional dishes. Menu is said to change daily, and we found some things sold out — showing that you might miss the best things if you arrive late. It’s a place that deserves attention! The atmosphere is rustic and historic, pointing to the history of the building, and they seem to take extra care in all aspects of what they do and what they offer. We will be back, and strongly recommend trying it!

My husband and I went here in August during our anniversary weekend when we were staying at the Omni Bedford Springs. We wanted a change from the«resort food» and I came across this farm to table place that had rave reviews. We went on a Sunday which is only open for brunch. This place was right down the street from the resort and although they were closing shortly, they were very nice and told us to grab a seat. It has a barnyard rustic look to it. The food is straight farm to table which means they only cook the fruits and vegetables in season and so everything is fresh! I got the vegetable pizza and my husband got a chicken curry — delicious! For dessert we shared the bread pudding which was so moist and super delicious not overly sweet. If you are staying at the resort, definitely check this place out!

Are you kidding me? I would kill to have one of these near me. I love what these people are about. Amazing all natural fresh ingredients mostly from their own farm! The flavors were exceptional. I had the trout chowder first. It’s a killer dish! Somehow they have a very light spice mixed with the trout and combine sweet potatoes in the mix. I would recommend it to anyone. As much as I wanted to be healthy I couldn’t resist the zing pizza. It was worth the splurge! The special sauce used was full of flavor and the cheese on it you could tell was natural fresh cheese. My only complain it that they don’t have one in Dallas Texas. Although it makes sense because we don’t have farms like this. If you’re in the area, try it out!

Awesome. We came in one night for dinner, liked it so much we came back the next night! We loved the thoughtful recipes and tasty food. The building is old and cool, great canned pickles and peaches. This was the best meal we had in Bedford while on vacation. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Food = 3.5 I was SUPER excited to check this place out, but the food wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong. It was still a nice dinner, but it didn’t blow me away! My parents and I started with a bowl of Corn and Potato Chowder($ 10) to start. The bowl was MASSIVE — definitely big enough to share with at least two other people. It was a promising start because the veggies were super fresh and plentiful. The accompanying sourdough bread was also delicious. We also ordered the Emerald Salad! It was basically cucumber slaw with yogurt dressing and feta cheese. VERY fresh. Oh, and I should’ve mentioned this from the outset, but everything served here is farm fresh. They make EVERYTHING from scratch. Now onto our entrees: Steak Quesadilla, Moussaka, and White Pizza. The best dish by far was the Moussaka(aka Greek lasagna) although the grass-fed steak was super tender and yummy! Homemade tortillas FTW. Although flavors were good overall, the quesadilla and pizza were soggy. The Moussaka was on point though. BTW, they don’t have printed menus because they change it mad frequently so you’ll be reading off an electronic menu, which I think is really cool! Rest assured, everything you get here will be crazy fresh! Worth a try in my opinion, but it’s not«gourmet» by any means. OH, and the pricing here is steep! Just giving you guys a heads up.
