Shame on me for not knowing about this brand. I’ve been looking for a pair of solid work boots for felling trees for a while. My feet are wide and awkward and I’ve tried and returned a bunch of boots. Nothing seemed to work with the feet I have. I showed up at Red Wings and was helped by Mike, a kind and super knowledgeable employee, who assured me that he’d find the right shoes. Indeed, he did, surpassing my expectations. If you’ve not experienced the Red Wing experience, or at least the one at this shop, it’s one of committed, engaged employees who walk the walk and talk the talk. Both the guys that were there on the day I visited, Mike and his colleague, who’s name I’m sorry I didn’t get, were genuinely enthusiast about the company, as well as figuring out what the best boot for you and for what you do would be. All of which would be meaningless if they failed or the product sucked. But Mike did exactly what he promised — he found me a super solid pair of strong work boots that fit perfectly(astonishing, given my misshapen feet that he had to deal with) and they are quality boots that I’m confident will last. Not only that, Red Wings will treat your work boots and replace laces for the lifetime of the product. I should note that Mike’s colleague was equally enthusiastic and engaging, as evidenced by his chatting with me, but also his helpfulness with another customer. I love places like this. I love employees like this. I wish more companies could imbue the loyalty and commitment in their staff. So, well done to Mike and his colleague(who was equally enthusiastic and approachable) and to Red Wings for making not only such a great product, but developing its culture such that great employees like these do such a great job and seem enthusiastic to do so.

I had some boots repaired at Red Wing Shoes. The service was outstanding and the workmanship was top notch. In this day and age where it seems easier to throw something out and buy new rather than get it repaired, it is refreshing to find a cobbler who can bring new life to a comfy old pair of boots.

I bought my first pair of Red Wing boots online, and aside from fitting a little big, it was fine. I was recently browsing online for my second pair, but wasn’t sure on color or fitment, so I decided to go to my local Red Wing store. I’m really glad I did! I’m horrible with names, but the two employees that worked there(middle aged man and woman) were extremely nice, helpful, and knowledgable about their product. They also told me that if you buy the boots at their store they honor a lifetime(?) warranty and will oil them for free. Seriously the nicest people you could hope to meet. Oh, and if this is your first pair of Red Wings, don’t let the price scare you off. These last a lifetime and are fairly cheap to get resoled.
