Everytime I go in I have a fabulous meal. I’m kinda snobby when it comes to food and I’m satisfied every time. Service, food, timing everybody is always amazing. Thanks open range!

What an amazing place! The ambiance here is spot on. The lighting and wood floors are beautiful. I came here for dinner with a large group of coworkers and we had very attentive service. The food was fantastic. I had the petite beef tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. The smoked mashed potatoes that came on the side were spectacular and the steamed veggies added a nice touch of color to the plate. The wine by the glass list was nice, including a couple of options from Willamette Valley for Pinot Noir. All in all, this was a really wonderful meal!

We ordered our Ribeye steak MEDIUMRARE but it was raw and the fat was not rendered. So, we sent it back and ordered it MEDIUM instead. Parts of the steak were fine while others were bloody and raw and the fat was still not rendered at all on half the steak. I’ve watched enough cooking shows on TV to know the fat should be rendered. We sent the raw parts back a third time. Also, at first we had asparagus, but when they took the whole plate away and came back with the same refired steak they had substituted broccolini on the plate. I don’t like broccolini and prefer the original asparagus so the waitress said she’d get us some, but it arrived raw, unseasoned and uncooked. I like vegies al dente’ but these made a snapping sound when you bent them — not cooked at all like the first asparagus, and no seasoning. Each time the waitress would argue with us and say something like«That’s the way they prepare it.» REALLY? Raw unseasoned asparagus? We gave up on asking them to fix this bad experience, paid our pricey bill and left. This place tries to be hip and cool but was a big, expensive disappointment.

I walked in with my family, and when I smiled politely and patiently at the maître D, received a scowl back. My wife whispered«shall we leave», and we quietly walked out without fuss. Hopefully the food and table service is better than the first impression because the place looked nice. Was recommended by hotel and I’ll follow up to recommend, they don’t in future.

Took my mother here for a Mothers Day dinner! Everything was great. I love the ambiance and décor! The food was beautifully arranged and sooo good! Nice wine selection! Excellent service. I felt the evening was worth the price. Thanks Open Range!

I don’t write a lot of reviews but felt compelled to, due to my experience here. I can start by saying that the only reason I am giving more than one star is because the food was good. The hostess was friendly and seated us at the bar, which we preferred. The service at the bar was horrible. Not once were we asked what we would like to order, instead we need to flag down the bartender for the appetizer, drinks, entrees, and the hostess for our check(It was a Wednesday and not busy) The staff seemed preoccupied with flirting with each other and taking shots and more than once were talking poorly of other customers directly in front of us. I wanted to like this place because the décor is great and food is excellent, unfortunately the service was so bad it outweighed both of these.

Probably the nicest steak place to eat in downtown Bozeman. Good menu and I usually get one of the specials. Large cocktail menu with some creative drinks… there is a chain saw behind the bar… go check it out!

This is my favorite restaurant in Bozeman. The service is always great, the food is delicious and from the local area. I really like the atmosphere as well, upscale and friendly staff.

The food here is outstanding — probably the best among the heavier style of fine dining in town. Unfortunately, too many among the wait staff are the worst of what you encounter in a tourist-y college town. We waited almost 20 minutes from the time we ordered our first drink until the time we received it, at a time when they were only at 50% of capacity. I know this wasn’t a fluke, because I talked about it with my colleagues at the office the next day, and 3 others had the exact same experience. Our particular server didn’t know anything about wine — not even the basic knowlege beyond, «here are the reds, and here are the whites.» For a meal for two well over $ 100, you should expect they’ll have at least had an hour or two of training on what the basic types of wine are. I would suggest going to this place on a weekday, outside of peak tourist seasons.

6oz Petit Beef Tenderloin. Amazing. I travel around the US and world for a living and the tomato soup was the best I’ve ever had. The tomato soup is pretty spicy so if you aren’t into spice it’s not for you but if you are it’s incredible. They also have Casamigos Tequila which is a huge plus. This restaurant does not disappoint. Highly recommend you try.

There is no denying that the food here is amazing. I could not find one single complaint about the succulent food we were served. However, be ready to spend some serious dough. The hostess and wait staff were extremely friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. If you like to enjoy an adult libation with your meal this is a great place to do it. They had two separate menus full of different drinks they offered and the cocktails were all unique and interesting. We came here for my birthday and they had a birthday card and vase of roses waiting at my table. That was an appreciated touch. The only trouble we had was that it took over an hour for our food to come. We had reservations for 6:30 on a Monday night and were not served until 8pm.

Gorgeous. Open Range is a beautiful space. We had just eaten dinner so my review only extends to the bar. The cocktail menu was impressive and drinks were very good. I loved their flight options; excellent selections of liquor. Prices were on the high end for the area. Service was friendly and attentive. Great lounge vibe for a cocktail, perfect ambiance for dinner. Definitely would like to visit again.

Best steak I’ve had in years. Everything was first class. Server was excellent, menu not long but a good variety from steak to duck. One of Bozeman’s best.

I made this reservation through Unilocal and confirmed by phone a few days later. I did tell the fellow who answered my call that this would be a special evening as it was my girlfriend’s birthday and this was her favorite restaurant in Bozeman The folks at the Open Range pulled out all the stops. My girlfriend was greeted by name, we were seated at a wonderful booth and treated like royalty. Dinner choices were superb. I had salmon and my date had filet mignon following a great tempura vegetable appetizer. We shared a delicious chocolate cake for dessert. Our waiter attended to us with charm, humor and panache Will we go back? Of course.

Ok. I’ve been here twice, once last year and once this year. Last year I had the steak. The steak was okay, but I wasn’t anything to brag about. Last week, I went for drinks and ended up trying the jerk chicken skewers. The flavors were off. In addition to the food, the service was not too good either.

Good food, but less than spectacular service. I came here on a Saturday night with my wife for a long-awaited date night, and we were very much looking forward to trying this restaurant. We had reservations, and were seated at a very nice table. Things were looking good! Then came the unsmiling waiter. The service was short and not particularly attentive. I recognize that it was a busy Saturday night, but to be honest, it has been a long time since I have felt so unappreciated as a diner. I suppose it pays to be a regular, because several couples around us were greeted by what looked like to be a manger — all smiles and enthusiasm. Sniff. We started with Poutine, which was the Fritto Platter of the day. It was delicious — gooey fried cheese curds and crispy fries covered in duck fat gravy. Ok, so service wasn’t great to start, but the food is good at least! Let’s order some salad and our mains now! Hello? Anyone there? We sat for quite a while before our waiter returned to finish our order. Maybe he thought we just wanted a snack? Maybe I give off that vibe of a guy who can’t afford a meal for himself and his lady? I hope not! I even dressed up for date night! But the dude definitely either forgot about us or ignored us for a good long while. He finally comes back and we order a large grilled Caesar salad to split(very good — a rich dressing over grilled romaine hearts with anchovies, grape tomatoes, and a fried poached egg). My wife orders the shrimp and polenta(pretty good, I tried it), and I got the Pork 4 Ways special(it was just below ok. I didn’t finish it. And I loooove swine). For dessert, we split the chocolate crème caramel, which was pretty good. It was a bit thicker than I typically like, but had a very rich flavor. I wasn’t a fan of the candied orange peel that adorned the dish — too hard and I thought it clashed with the deep chocolate flavor. When the check came, I still tipped just over 15%. I can’t help it. I like to tip 20%, but I just couldn’t do it. I’m not a snooty diner, but I do like to feel like a welcome guest in a restaurant. This place just didn’t do it for me. Next date night, we’ll go to Blackbird, where I’ve always felt welcome.
