Came here for the second time on a Sunday night at 7pm when it was pretty dead. My friends and I sat at the bar and despite it being slow the bartender ignored us for a bit. Eventually she took our orders and I really enjoyed my cocktail(something along the lines of being called a Garden Snake?). I proceeded to have wine and when all was said and done it came to around $ 25. We moved to a table when our group got larger and we pretty much had the entire back area to ourselves.

You’d think this place would be a home-run, with the awesome snacks, varied wine list, great outdoor seating and lots of room to relax. But you’d be wrong, because they staff is as terrible and disinterested and bored and bitchy as all the other reviews note. It’s really a shame, since it’s a quick hike over from Barclays and a perfect in between spot for meeting friends from Park Slope. Another thing, don’t accidentally knock over your wine(it was my first glass, and in a juice glass, I don’t know why I’m apologizing other than the bartender(AE?) rolled her eyes at me, pissily cleaned it up(barely) and didn’t refill my glass). I felt incredibly awkward like I had committed a terrible crime against humanity. However, I guess I can’t blame the bartender for not giving me another refill because it’s «management’s policy» that if she gives me a «free glass of wine» that it comes out of her pocket. Which is complete and utter BS. I’ve had free glasses of wine given to me at that very same bar(not due to accidentally knocking them over but because sometimes other bartenders can be personable and give you a buyback). So, management, are you terrible or is it just AE that’s terrible? If management is really that terrible, I guess that accounts for everyone’s piss poor attitude. Why work there?

I really wanted to like Barn. They have a great outdoor space, and it wasn’t crowded on Friday. However, there were a few things that were very wrong with my food. I ordered a veggie burger, and I bit down on a rock(verified by my date). I should have complained(my fault, and big regret) but I didn’t think it did any damage. Later found out it definitely chipped my tooth. It’s pretty standard when working with lentils and quinoa to look through to make sure there aren’t any pebbles, so the kitchen was definitely cutting corners there. On top of that, I was sick the rest of the night after eating there. Please check in with your kitchen — something is not OK. Would not recommend, will not be going back.

My friends and I visited late night during the week. I loved the look and feel of the atmosphere. If anyone remembers Dark Shadows, the old soap opera on Sci Fi, it reminds me of that. The alcohol selection was great and the food looked good but I resolved to save it for next time. The bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed having to service the entire spot alone. He didn’t seem personable at all. We bussed our own table to make room for ourselves to sit at a table and he seemed to not even notice. No biggie since I’m in the industry but I’m hoping my second visit allows me to give an updated review with 5 stars.

Came here with a group of co workers after our closing night. Barn is a crowded bar on a Saturday night, dimly lit and little room to move around without grinding up against someone. Interior is charming, it is a bar where you can intimately socialize. Ordered a Mo’ Stomy($ 10) which was good and a beer($ 8). Took our drinks outside when some friends wanted a smoke break– they didn’t care which was great. Bar food looked good but I wasn’t really in a eating mood. It is very loud inside and the volume went beyond max when they started playing«Summer NIghts» from Grease in a bar filled with 20+ theatre people. Overall a great Saturday night hang out and an awesome place.

NICE Park Slope Brooklyn option! Great for business meetings, dates, or to treat yourself to artfully conceived and presented dishes. Food & Drink: Nice quality. Pricier. I’d go again!

Dear Unilocal, This was a good place to get a drink. The drink was strong. The garden is spacious and beautiful. The bartender was a little rude. Love, Adam

This place would be otherwise un-noteworthy had it not been for the GIANTROACH that ran across the wall behind my friends heads! We left immediately. I know this is NYC, but I was born and raised here and this is the first time I have ever seen a roach in a dining area. Gross. I will not go back.

I turned the corner off of Flatbush and almost missed it. A much more learned Brooklynite invited me out to the Barn for a drink. Hearing«Barn» I visualized a much grungier setting with pitchforks and distressed wood splintering one’s bum up while drinking out of mason and jam jars. Not my bag. However, I was very pleasantly surprised at how elegant the décor was when I walked in. Dark wood, carefully positioned overhead cluster lights, smooth finished benches and a long bar with comfortable stools. So much mood! «Bella Lugosi is Dead» playing in the background. Bauhaus — soundtrack to my twenty something year old life! The bartender whipped up this must have perfect for summer drink — an earl grey tea infused vodka with lemon and honey. Sipping away, engrossed in conversation and surrounded by little groups of people doing the same, I felt like I had been there my whole life. This place should be an extension of your front porch… populated by interesting strangers.

This place is great if you go at the right time. I’ve had both good and bad experiences. Mostly good. It strikes me as a regulars-type place, but not in an annoying way. Of course, being involved with interior decorating, I’d like to see them step it up a bit. They’d get more bites if they did.

It’s somewhere between Meh and A-OK — 2.5 stars if I could. Nice space with a pleasant garden.(Where we saw a giant rat, but I can’t fault them for that.) The cocktails however could use a bit more love.

I came in during Happy Hour tonight with my wife to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I had ordered a few beers for the both of us from a tall, dark haired, salt and pepper bearded bartender. Then my wife wanted to get food. She ordered lamb kebabs which cost $ 16.25. She gave the bartender a $ 20 and he put the remaining $ 3.75 on the bar and said he would bring her food to her when it was ready. She left the $ 3.75 on the bar as a tip. A few minutes later when he brought the food, he put $ 0.75 on the table with the meal and said«you left your change at the bar». Obviously he thought that she had only left him that as a tip, and felt the best way to deal with this was to be a passive aggressive jerk. Actually, my wife left over 20%. And on top of that, the lamb kebabs were extremely overcooked and undesirable. I have been in the service industry for over a decade in various capacities. I currently rely on tips for income, and therefore my wife and I both tip appropriately in return. To treat guests this poorly(whether they left a «good tip» or not) is completely unacceptable. And as this was my second visit to this restaurant/bar which was bad, I will not be back and will recommend my friends stay away as well.

Really nice drinks but, holy bejeebus is this place expensive. $ 13 for a glass of wine? Yikes. This appears to be a great place for a single drink before moving on. Nice atmosphere and pleasant bar staff.

Stopped in for a happy hour(which was pretty depressing). No one was really there and the music they played didn’t fit the theme of the restaurant. It just wasn’t a happy experience. I can’t speak on the food since I’ve yet to try anything. The drinks were ok and the bartender was very attentive. Minus one star for the happy hour selection. They really didn’t have anything I desired and the beers were brands I’ve never even heard of(I’m a Corona kinda girl). Overall: I might come back just to try one of their dishes.

I’m starting to understand Park Slope economics. If you want to keep screaming kids from ruining your establishment(see Die Koelner Bierhalle), jack your prices up to the point where you have to think twice about bringing them in and having to buy them anything. Barn skates that line and comes out just enough ahead that I don’t feel stuffy or pompous for drinking here. Teaming up with Flatbush Farm also makes this a great date location 1 – 2 punch to get away from the madness. Great food, good drinks, no screaming kids. That’s worth the price of admission.

Been here a handful of times now with hopes of finally having found a neighborhood go-to bar. The spot definitely has the cozy, wooden/shabby chic interior, Brooklyn vibe going on. Service is friendly, music is generally ok. There’s also a backyard bar area(which I unfortunately still haven’t gotten around to checking out). But I just can’t get past the mediocre drinks that are served in the tiniest, most demeaning tumblers, ever. A friend once ordered a Brooklyn that tasted like straight up Robitussin(the bartender was nice enough to make a new, different drink). Will come back for the ambience and for a beer– but no more mixed drinks!

Barn is a nice place in the Flatbush/Prospect Heights/Park Slope nexus where you can meet someone, have a bite to eat, or just enjoy a few drinks. They have a great happy hour, a long bar for the adults and plenty of tables in the back for the baby stroller set. They have a nice selection of beers, and they have nice happy-hour well drinks. I haven’t tried the food yet(which actually comes from Flatbush Farm next door), but plan on it. It is a great place to meet someone, start off your evening, or even to just relax and read over a evening cocktail.

Uhm… why didn’t I know about this place sooner? I asked myself and any person within earshot that same question throughout the night. I think that I kinda love this place. Great backyard area, long dark bar area, large communal tables in the back of the bar and a cool enough mix of music and space that I could definitely snap my fingers happily while possibly twirling around if the mood hit me. The crowd was a great Brooklyn mix as well. It doesn’t hurt that this is a pretty accessible location either and connected to a restaurant that i am eager to check out. It totally reminds me of many other bars that I’ve comfortably spent ours on end with friends discussing if the sky is truly blue. My cocktail was well crafted too. They even offered a cider option(it was pear and not my favorite, but I respect the effort to include this on the menu for us cider lovers). Will I be back? Heck ya!

I cannot believe that I have not yet reviewed Barn, despite being a real regular here. It is literally down the street from my house, and the bartender is super chill and very nice. The back yard is very nice on warm summer nights, and the food is honestly amazing. It’s fresh and simple, and the fact that they are the same owners as Brooklyn Larder, if I’m not mistaken, accounts for the superb quality ingredients. I recommend this neighborhood hangout to anyone in the area! PS. George has tried every beer they have, tap and bottle, and I, as the resident tax collector, have liked almost every one.

BarN is bright and sunny and well decorated with flower arrangements, a long bar, communal tables and a courtyard. I had two delightful cocktails – the refreshing yet strong Bumble Tea with Early Grey infused vodka, sugar, and lemon, and the mojito-esque, summery Garden Snake with Farmer’s organic gin, cucumber juice, lemon soda, and thai basil. For some reason, the BarN has as many babies as the Chucky Cheese down the block, but luckily they weren’t obnoxious enough to ruin my afternoon. I must return to try the organic, local food.
