I went to DOC a couple nights ago for the first time with a couple of friends. It really felt like a small family place, where everyone knows you. We started with the meat platter, had the trofie as entrees and ended with the tiramisu and cheesecake. Everything was delicious and loved the cozy vibe!

Wow. Just wow. The food here was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area, love Italian food, and love great wine. I came here for a dinner party last night, and I just couldn’t believe the quality of the food and the service. The prosciutto, cheeses, risotto, calamari, and pistokku dishes were all so amazing. The meats and cheeses were of the highest quality. They had some of the best risotto I’ve ever had in my life. The wines were unbelievable – so delicate and flavorful, both dry and sweet. I just can not recommend this place any more. It is unbelievable. The staff is also very well-informed and can help you pick the perfect wine with whatever dish you desire. You will regret not coming here. I would give six stars if I could!

I highly recommend this restaurant. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Williamsburg. The atmosphere is warm, intimate and always inviting. It is the perfect date night spot. They have an impressive wine list and would recommend the Fregola as a main course. Make sure you start off with the toasted flatbread with olive oil and rosemary. SOGOOD. Great food, good vibes, and amazing service. You NEED to go if your in Williamsburg!

LOVE this place! Authentic Sardinian menu like an Italian grandmother cooked with love. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Charming, rustic ambiance — great date spot! And a cute staff if I must say so. ;)

We went here as it was close to the bar where we were and needed to eat! The place from the outside looked pretty small but they took us in the back and it was a nice surprise. The place was nice, food was good, the candlelit ambiance was cute but the service was mediocre. I asked for a glass for my beer, never got it. I asked for extra napkins, never got them. Waited at lest 20 + mins to have our order taken. They really need to pay attn. to the details. The menu’s also looked like a 5 y/o wrote them and colored on them. Not sure if I would go back.

We have walked by this place about 100 times but never were in a «wine bar» mood. With snow a foot deep outside we decided to give it a try tonight for a light dinner. It’s not very«wine bar» — more like a place you’d find in little Italy — and we liked it immediately. Romantic, quiet, a choice of candlelit tables for 2(and some places for larger groups though we were there early and it did not get crowded). We both got the asparagus soup(soup of the day) and split a flatbread. I tried a wine and found it too acidic, and the waiter brought a second choice that was good. Service was very attentive. We’ll be going back. Noticed another review complaining about price. We did 3 glasses of wine, 2 soups, split an entre, and had dessert for 100 including tip. Not bad in my book. The ambiance is wonderful.

Dining at Doc Wine Bar is like feeling in Italy… actually in Sardinia. Everything reminds you of that beautiful Region: the food, tasty and special, the wine, everything around you including the restroom made in Sardinian theme with stones… and taste. I have been here few times and finally met the hosts Claudio & Rossana, a beautiful and nice couple who will entertain you with their stories while enjoying the food. If you wish to have great food and enjoy a nice atmosphere, this is the place where to go.

This is not your typical Italian restaurant. Authentic dishes from Sardinia. The menu contains traditional Sardinian dishes that people still eat in Sardinia today. Since there are more centurions in Sardinia than practically anywhere else on the planet, it might be a good idea to eat what they are eating! The quality of the ingredients is very high. They are clearly sourcing their ingredients from smaller artisanal producers which makes a big difference. This is homemade food at very fair prices. I’ve eaten here two times and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite Italian restaurants in NYC. I travel to Italy on a regular basis so I know what quality and authenticity should taste like. DOC Wine Bar is an authentic Italian restaurant. I will return!

I have been to Doc Wine about four times and always left happy and satisfied. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, cute to have a dinner date or come with a group of friends. I’m from Sardinia and indeed the food is authentic. Since we were a large group we were seated in the back room, we started sharing the selection of Italian cheeses and the cured meats… pair it with a great full body wine and you will have the most amazing experience! I love their pistacchio pesto toasted bread, simply delicious. First course I love the Pasta mallorreddus, made with tomato sauce and pork sausage ragout and the Fregola, a typical Sardinian pasta(similar to couscous) with pistachio pesto and mascarpone. For dessert they have an amazing tiramisu, but if you want to explore something new try the Seadas, one of the most famous Sardinian desserts. It’s a pastry filled with sheep cheese, fried and topped with honey. I live in Manhattan and have eaten in so many overpriced restaurants with no authentic italian food. Doc Wine bar is just a couple of minutes from Bedford stop and it is so worth the trip to enjoy amazing food at reasonable price meal.

Hello new lover, aka DOC Wine Bar! :) Very tasty, memorable rustic Italian dishes, many options for veggie and meat lovers alike, served family style by chilled-out staff who catered to our every whim. A GREAT deal, considering so many wines and desserts too, and we were not rushed out at the end of dinner. Hugs to the affable, knowledgeable sommeliere/server. We won’t forget you — and we’ll all be back!

Love the authentic Italian(and especially Sardinian) vibe of this place! The décor reminds me of the beautiful island, especially in the back room. The staff are warm and welcoming, like visiting a family! And the food is the BEST part. I’m shocked to find delicious authentic Sardinian classics here in the city! Such an incredible surprise. Try the malloredous, the ravioli with mint and potatoes, and the sebadas as dessert. Side of fennel. Just enjoy the beautiful natural flavored and imagine you’re back on that secret island. Highly recommended!

Atmosphere and authenticity are on point here. The service is very personal and the ambiance is unique and beautiful. I recently spent a week in Italy and this place is the only one I’ve been to yet, that has reminded me of being back in Rome and Tuscany. Get the meat platter and fresh pasta, and spend a few extra bucks on a good bottle of wine… You won’t regret it.

Firstly, no cards other than American Express, so either that or carry cash. Thankfully, the manager made an exception and accepted our Visa card. The food: total waste of money. Pasta kept sticking to my teeth, giving al-dente a ttly new dimension. We ordered the pasta of the day– orecchiette with sword fish and asparagus. I’m convinced, a four year old made this pasta. Completely flavorless. Lacked even basic seasoning. So did our arugula salad, even with the parm, it tastes blah. The only thing decent was the tiramisu. For main courses in the $ 18 – 25 range, this was a terrible disappointment!

We had a fantastic diner party at DOC Wine Bar. We worked on a prefixed menu for our group of 14, wine included. GREAT value, the food was delicious, the wine really good for a house wine and the staff was simply the best. Thank you a lot for taking care of us DOC and for allowing great memories!

Mediocre food and the service is incredibly bad ! The owner or the manager was rolling his eyes while taking our orders(we were a party of 16). They obviously took our reservation for a dinner on Saturday. However were totally overwhelmed while taking orders. The owner was complaining that the kitchen will be busy if he takes one more appetizer order from our party. And no main dishes orders until he gets a green light from the kitchen !!! Really ?! The food was below average, salads were terrible, wine selection is super expensive. We felt they were overcharging triple price for a $ 12 bottle of red wine. A $ 60 bottle of mediocre wine. The interior is terribly bad. So overly«old world Italian» done that you almost feel you are dining in a barn. No way I can recommend this place to anyone.

This place is WAYOVERPRICED! The«brick oven» organic chicken was dry, not seasoned, small, and had a grilled onion slice as a garnish. 25 $ The kale salad was good for 10 $… Total with tip 42 $ such a rip-off. No one inquired how my meal was and the service sucked. I know it is Williamsburg, but this place shouldn’t be around with all this competition. This is my hood. There are so many other places. Do not waste your money here.

Terrible service. It took the waiter a long long time before he took our order after sitting us down. Then it took a long long time for the wine to actually arrive. When the food finally arrived, 2 out of the 3 dishes we ordered were wrong. Then we asked for the check, and that too took ages to come. I know that they were busy on a Saturday night, but all the tables around us seemed to be getting prompt service. The waiter thought he could make it all ok by putting our bottle of wine on the house. I guess their strategy is to prefer making one table miserable than multiple tables slightly unhappy, then try to make it all ok by throwing the miserable table a bone(a free bottle of wine). Terrible service, I usually leave restaurants feeling happy but left this one with a nasty feeling inside. The food was good though.

A little pricey for wine but the service was great and the flatbread pizza was terrific. They didn’t have much choices for rose by the glass, which was surprising for a wine bar. But the one choice they had was really good. I’d go back.

La cena e’ stata squisita! The best rib eye steak with a crust and balsamic reduction and wild boar were so good! Big portions with a taste of Sardegna. Good choice of vines, cool medieval décor.

When I lived in Williamsburg, my friends and the local neighbors absolutely raved about this place. But for some reason, my wife and I always had a premonition that any trendy restaurant talked up this much would never live up to the hype. So when we returned to Brooklyn recently for a friend’s birthday party, we were excited to finally try D.O.C. and see what it was all about. Unfortunately, I can only rate it mediocre at best. While both the service and the ambiance were top notch, the food was just disappointing. An orecchiette special I ordered was al dente to the point of being almost crunchy, and the spicy tomato sauce it was served in didn’t have a lick of heat. Perhaps most disappointing was that the dish was supposed to be served with crispy pancetta, but it was virtually non-detectable. Too bad, since this is one of my favorite classic dishes. We were also excited to try the pesto bread, but the pesto was extremely bland and lacked any saltiness that you would have expected from the Pecorino. Maybe it was the Pistacchio pesto they brought us, and not the classic pesto as I had thought, but whatever it was missed the mark with me. Much better was the meat and cheese plate, which is generally difficult to screw up. My wife also enjoyed her Trophie pasta — fresh twists cooked in a red wine reduction sauce with caramelized onions, and topped with fresh goat cheese. If you like that rich, brownish-reddish, stew-like sauce, then this dish is for you. Another favorite of mine to order in better Italian restaurants are white cannellini beans, traditionally cooked with tomatoes, garlic, shallots and rosemary. I tried D.O.C.‘s version of this classic, but unfortunately like some of our other dishes it was completely bland and uninteresting. Such a shame. All in all, though, there were enough hits around the table to offset the misses, and given the impeccable service and overall festiveness of the occasion, I am still compelled to give a 3-star review. But with so much good food in Williamsburg, I would not recommend nor return to D.O.C. again any time soon.

The food is excellent. Unlike most wine bars that take the tapas thing too far, where you have to order five things and spend gobs of money to get full, here the menu ranges from small plates to bigger ones if you want a proper dinner. I love the cheeses, cured meats, pastas and they have the best anchovy crostini. The ambience is perfect for a date. It’s dimly lit, rustic, old school Italian. I recommend you sit in the rare section where it’s quieter and roomier. The service is fine. I’m not a stickler for service so I’m not the best person to ask. I could see one requiring them to be a little more attentive. Parking in Williamsburg is a nightmare so be prepared for that. For what it’s worth, I’ve been there over ten times, so I have a pretty accurate picture of what they are all about. Cash only and no on premise ATM. The closest one is half a block away.

Came here on a cold winter night and it was a very charming, warm and inviting atmosphere. Ordered 3 dishes: malloreddus pasta, wild board stew and the prosciutto cotto pistokku. Pasta was the tastiest by far! The texture of the pasta was light and delicious! The wild boar stew was good for the cold night, just a little on the saltier side. I thought the pistokku was going to be like a flatbread pizza, this was more just like a giant cracker with a semi cooked toppings. It was good, just not what I expected. It’s only CASHORAMEX!

I was in the mood for some meats and cheeses and wine while sitting al fresco last night so A and I drove out to DOC Wine bar in Brooklyn; we have memories of having an amazing meal here several years ago. I love the décor of inside the restaurant — dimly lit and homey — but as the weather was beautiful, we opted to sit outside. In hindisght, I agree with other Unilocalers that the service is a bit slow, but it’s just a lovely setting to chat with your dining companion and enjoy the ambiance — and as we weren’t in a hurry at all, I quite enjoyed the casual service. Dinner did run about 2 hours though(though much of it because we were slowing noshing and imbibing) but if you want a quick eat-and-go, perhaps not the best dining option. We started with a glass of Prosecco.(We had just come from watching A Fault in Our Stars…) I dislike ordering anything by the glass because more often than not, it ends up being somewhat flat. That rang true here also. A said some of the stars have escaped. ^^(movie/book reference!) Normally, I would’ve flagged the waiter to alert him of this, but I was in a rather la-di-da mood and decided not to say anything. We ordered a meat and cheese plate(mixed cheeses and cold cuts with grilled vegetables) and the carpacccio di bresaola(cured bresaola with parmesan and arugula). The orders came out pretty quickly and we were offered some bread — thick, crusty, chewy — it was a good complement to the meats and cheese. The bresaola and arugula was delicious. I misread it(or read it then completely ignored the cured meat part), so I was expecting raw beef… so this dish ended up being heavier than my expectations, but still good. In future, I’d get a regular salad if I were doing a meat & cheese board though. The meat and cheese board… wasn’t great. We got 3 cheeses and all of them were hard… that’s never happened before. Where’s the brie or goat cheese or even blue cheese? Also, the menu did say cold cuts for the meat, but never have I received bologna(or I think it was bologna — the waiter never said what the items were and it’s not stated on the menu) and deli ham. $ 30 for deli meats. Hmm. After the star-less Prosecco, we decided to get a bottle of wine. One waiter handed us the menu and as we were perusing through it, another waiter came by and said«would you mind?,» took the menu from me and said«I would like to recommend this with your meal, it would go really well!» I think this was my favorite part of the service(love the enthusiasm about pairing!); we said yes; he brought the wine and it was delicious. And yes, it did go really well with the food. All in all, we had a lovely evening(though not to the standards of our memories), but we didn’t have a full meal here so that is most likely(hopefully) why. I would love to come back for another al fresco, wine filled, pasta loaded meal before the summer ends! PS: Cash and Amex only.
