I’m in town visiting and wanted to have my extensions taken out. I called a couple places and they told me they could not take them out because I didn’t have them put in there. Well… they were put in 1700 miles away, so I had to find someone that could help me! Ashka was friendly on the phone and understood that going back to my normal salon wasn’t an option. The hair stylist was super friendly and nice, even though taking out my extensions was a lot of work. I guess the type I had required a different kind of tool than what they normally use. At one point, there were three stylists working on my hair. My hair stylist had her assistant helping the whole time and at one point, another stylist that was free, offered to help. I thought that was very nice. The salon is stylish and clean. In addition to having my extensions removed, I also had my hair trimmed. Overall, it was a great experience.

Extremely poor business decision in removing one of the top stylists at your salon. I was shocked to find out that you removed Josephine Aponte from your staff. Josephine has not only been a loyal long standing employee with a long list of clients but has also continued to further her education on her own without the $$ support of Ashka. I was always impressed by the fact that she was willing to take classes, attend shows and even go as far as getting certified in other services in order to not only keep herself at the top of her game but to represent the salon as a destination spot for all things! Shame on you…

I went in for a Brazilian wax. Some of the staff I was greeted by was friendly while some others seemed a bit snobbish. The girl who waxed me was EXTREMELY professional and was excellent at making me feel at ease. After coming home and examining my lady bits, I found a few patches that she missed as well as some stray wax that was left behind. For paying top dollar, I’d expect for there to be no patchy areas. I guess I have high expectations when I’m paying $ 60 plus tip for a wax. The whole point of a Brazilian is to have the hair removed so we don’t have to worry about it, so coming home to find a few areas that were unwaxed is disappointing, but I do have to give it to the girl for professionalism and for making me feel comfortable.

I have been going to Ashka for awhile now but today will be my last. I have always liked my hair when done although I feel like they rush and I feel bad asking the stylist to style my hair at the end because she typically has at a minimum 1 – 3 or customers at different stages of getting their hair done. I do not necessarily feel like this is worth the $ 200 I usually walk out paying but the real problem occurred today. I showed up to the salon right before my scheduled 9am appointment, which I had my reminder card for to be told by the receptionist that I am not on the schedule – what! I did not bother reminding her that she is the one that checked me out last time. She went to see if the stylist could fit me in-nope… She said sorry but we might be able to get you in this afternoon. I do not have time to be running back and forth when I had a scheduled appointment. She then said well we might be able to get you in next week. I’m sorry but this is not good customer service-mistakes happen but you do what you have to in order to fix the problem at the convenience of the customer. She did not once look to see if there was anyone else in the salon that could see me. I left the salon and went to the salon across the street and explained what happened and guess what they were happy to fit me in and get my business!

I have gone to this salon serval times for a color correction! I always see Josephine and she always seems to know what to do to fix my hair… make it normal! She has helped me with bad coloring, horrible cuts, and fried hair from over-processing! She truly is the best hair stylist I’ve ever seen :)

I’ve been going to Ashka for years. It is a relaxing atmosphere and they always run on time. I’m an Aveda snob, so I appreciate the extra oomph of the products, sitting room with fireplace and coffee/tea. Amanda does a fantastic job every time. She’s friendly and listens to my endless stories, knows my crazy hair, and can tame it. I’ve also had both manicures and pedicures here and they’ve been great. As Margaret V mentions, they don’t use tubs here, which I kind of like for the infection control aspect. They wrap your legs in these cool compress things using a rosemary mint scrub, which basically feels like altoids on your feet(awesome feeling by the way). My pedicures seem to last forever, much longer than the el cheapos I’ve gotten in the past at other places. So I go here instead. Maybe I’ll see you sometime.

Visited for a much needed pedicure… The salon is very nice. It’s an Aveda Salon, which I always associate with high quality products and services and this was no exception. I was a few minutes early and completed some paperwork all new customers must submit(allergies, age, e mail, etc…). Shortly after that Sarah, introduced herself and lead me to a spa room in the back of the salon. I was a little taken back as the other pedicures I have had have you sit in a chair and put your feet in a tub, but this salon has lay back in a really cool chair and they put a hot compress over your feet/calves. I was fortunate enough to be the only customer in the room, and it was quite relaxing(it still would have been if there were others). The massage included the compresses, massage, sugar scrub, masque, filing of callouses, cuticles, and a polish. The polish is the only complaint have. They have very few options for color choices. I was pretty surprised. I hope that changes in the future. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the service I received and will come back again for a pedicure, or quite possibly a massage!

Update — Was made to wait over an hour for my scheduled hair cut. No assistance from the receptionist or my stylist who was apparently giving a pedicure to another client and had forgotten about my appointment. Haircut was still good. I was so disappointed in the overall experience that I haven’t been back and will not be going back. If you choose to go here, I suggest you call the day before or a few hours before to confirm your appointment is still on. – Cannot even explain how wonderful the reception staff are. I’ve always had good haircuts here and the ambiance of the salon and cheerfulness of the staff keep me coming back.

Got my hair done today by Josephine. She did a great job. Love my new highlights and cut. Everything met or exceeded my expectations. They were also great with scheduling me in quickly after my current salon had closed with no warning. Will definitely be back.

I have been going to Ashka for almost 3 years. They are fabulous in everything they do. Great customer service and an exceptional staff! I can’t imagine going anywhere else for my hair, facials, massage, and waxing. Top notch!

Very, very disappointed. A miracle allowed me to get out of work early and I immediately decided that now I have a few moments to myself and would love to do something nice. I grabbed my phone to see if there were any groupons going– most importantly to find out where I could go for a great manicure and pedicure. I stopped by one place on the way home but I continued on, remembering there was a place at Cherry Hill and Canton Center. After moving, I knew I needed to find another staple place for pampering. Ashka. Upon walking in the ambience was superb. The reception lady was cheerful and sweet, I explained that I wanted to do a walk-in, if they allowed. She just smiled and said she would look. She was super happy when she told me it was only a 10 minute wait before I could have both a manicure AND a pedicure… Not bad for a salon/spa. She gave me a cup of passion tea which was appreciated and needed after the weeks of stress. I sipped away and got a refill before being called in. I was taken to a back room where there were 5 relaxing chairs with soakers and 4 manicure stations. The décor was very tasteful. I sat back for my pedicure, the water was warm and the girl was nice although not talkative. I sat backed, played words with friends and enjoyed. I ended up picking a fun, summery pink color– which looked terrible after the first nail… I asked if I could change it and the lady told me that I already picked it out. Wow. It was only one nail… She did a sugar scrub, mask, and then a lotion before putting on my polish… we then moved to the manicure station. It seemed rushed, my nails barely covered with the nail polish(the polish is covering maybe 80−90% of my nail) and my cuticles were not touched. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize it after the first coat and the lady ran away after she was done– stating«yeah, it should dry in about 5 – 10 minutes but don’t bump them within the next thirty.» Ok, standard stuff. When she left, I looked down just mortified at how terrible my nails looked. I didn’t have torn and hanging cuticles prior to the manicure but now I have them on half of my nails! I waited about 10 – 15 minutes for her to come back so I could tell her that they looked bad and if they could be fixed. She never came. When I walked out to pay, the girl told me it would be $ 85 for a mani/pedi… And I tipped the lady $ 15 and everything looked TERRIBLE! To make matters worse, when I walked in the house immediately after my husband asked me why I would bother painting my toes without fixing my feet. When I took a closer look, it appeared as though she barely rubbed the bottom of my feet!!! There was dry skin EVERYWHERE. Although it was awhile since my last pedicure… My feet were not THAT bad. The last topper was walking into work today and a co-worker looked at my nails and said«that is an interesting color for you but next time try not to paint them when you are drunk.» And that exactly explains the service that I was given at Ashka. Unreal. Worst $ 100 I have ever spent… Key phrase– I spent $ 100 for a mani/pedi that someone told me I looked drunk when I did it… Embarrassing. Even though I rated the place a 1, the reception lady was a 5(or 6 if we could), ambience was great but I cannot give a place any more than a single star for the lack of service and complete disregard for so much money!!! And now I know, Ashka is NOT the staple pamper joint for me! Little update… Less than one day after both my toe nail polish and finger nail polish is already coming off… That’s just ridiculous for a girl who site at a desk and works on a computer all day! I think wet n wild polish would last longer! Last little update: Both finger nail and toe nail had to be completely taken off by day 3. $ 100 for this?! Go some place else!

Got my hair did on Saturday by Megan. She did exactly what I asked for, which is rare(for me) in the hair cutting world. She did a really awesome job cutting my hair in a way that really complimented my face/features. I have received a lot of compliments on it already. I will definitely be back again and highly recommend the salon!

I had an urge to get my hair done on Monday and most salons are closed. Ashka was open and I asked if I could get my haircut. They were surprised that I didn’t just want a consultation. Nope, I want to get it done! My hair looked like crap after a trip to Fantastic Sam’s so I needed someone to even it out. Kelly was the stylist and she did a good job evening things out. I think she was soothing, because I kept falling asleep on her! How embarrassing!

I love going to Aveda Salons so when my usual Aveda salon could not fit me in I made an appointment at Ashka. I noticed that their prices were considerably higher than what I was used to at other Aveda salons but as I was attending a special event I made an exception. I was pleased with the décor and their ability to fit me into their schedule. That is where the pleasant experience ended. As soon as I walked in for my appointment there were about 4 people at the front desk all of whom gave me unpleasant looks. If I didn’t know better I would say they hated working there or they hated their customers. The woman who spoke to me was exceptionally rude. My hairdresser was capable and did a sufficient styling job on my hair for the event I was attending. The woman who took my payment made an effort to be a little more pleasant than the woman who helped me when I walked in. I think she noticed how offended I was earlier. I have never been treated so rudely in an Aveda salon and I will never go back to this one.

I am a member of Aveda’s Pure Privilege program where you earn points on Aveda products and can cash them in for rewards. I finally accumulated enough points for a $ 75 gift certificate. Aveda makes you select a salon where you want to use your certificate at and it issues you the certificate payable to that salon. So, I chose Ashka. I had been to the old location for hair services and liked it. Once I received my certificate, I made an appointment for a mani/pedi and wax. The spa area was very nicely decorated and relaxing. However, my services were sub-par. I wasn’t very impressed with the nail tech or the polish selections. The wax was actually good — not painful at all. But, the worst part for me was when I went to pay. I gave the cashier my certificate and she said we don’t take these anymore. I was shocked. I asked why and she said they don’t participate in pure privilege anymore. I asked why was I able to select this salon then for the certificate. I was not very happy with the response I got and the poor customer service. I was very upset I was never notified ahead of time. I even told one of the girls that was the reason I was there — to use my Aveda points! Needless to say this could have been an embarrassing situation if I didn’t have backup cash. After I left, I contacted Aveda. Luckily they are crediting my account for the $ 75 certificate. Because of the poor customer service and sub-par mani/pedi I don’t ever plan on going back.

Pedicures are nice and they were able to match me with a stylist who did a great job on my hair cut, even though I was a walk-in. It would be nice if they put a little extra effort into things like having nice drinks for their customers-tap water in a coffee mug doesn’t really set the right tone for a Spa. Also, all the magazines are super old and worn out. Otherwise, nice place and not overpriced.
