I hadn’t come here in a few years, cause the last time I went here it was your typical cheap Chinese buffet with greasy American Chinese food and surly service. I got talked into coming here by a friend and you know what? Now, I happy I did! The place has changed in the food quality and selection. The price was just $ 7.99 for lunch. 11am till 4pm I think. But do get here on the earlier side as with most any buffet, the food will be fresher and not all old in the middle of the afternoon. Don’t say the food is bad if you come it 3:30 when no one is here. We’re greeted and given our choice of seats. We had a nice booth by the windows. Just water for us to drink. Tea and soft drinks are extra .yeah we’re being cheap! Cruising the buffet I see, sections of salads, sushi rolls, desserts and 2 big islands of steam tables of Chinese food. One thing that I see that I like that wasn’t here before is the whole steamed fish fillets, and chicken wings! Heck they even have the fried drumsticks if you like. There was also salmon fillets to be had. One nice thing was I saw the won ton dumplings were kept in a steamer instead of swimming around in the soup getting all water logged. I could just take the dumplings and put some oyster sauce over them, I like it that way! Missing is Chow Fun though and the fried rice is pretty tasteless. There is also a Mongoilian BBQ option as well. I took some of the baby octopus and mushrooms and onions and had that fried up… that was pretty damn good! They even have french fries here for the kids I guess. This place is way better than it used to be, and for the price, the quality is pretty good and having the steamed fish and fried chicken does it for me! I can skip the egg rolls and sweet and sour pork, but that sauce sure is good on steamed rice! The plates were cleared as fast as we got them dirty and the water was never empty. Can’t really say too much bad about the place really. I’m glad I found this buffet again, now I’ll be back for more when I’m in the area.

I went there a few years ago, and it was terrible… Cold rubbery food,(half the trays on the buffet were empty), no sushi, dirty buffet-line/dining room and bathroom, and the Mongolian grill area was just totally encrusted with gunk and grime… I can only imagine what the rest of the kitchen looked like. As soon as I left, I got sick and«un-ate» the food that I had managed to choke down, right there in the parking lot(which was cleaner than the bathroom). I was considering trying this restaurant again,(a good friend of mine loves this place for some reason, and she insists my past experience was a fluke), but judging by the recent reviews, I don’t think I’ll risk it… Apparently I’m not the only person who’s barfed or got the runs after eating here.

Crab Rangoon was OK but floors desperately need shampooed and rice was not good at all. Service was great though so they get 3 stars

Food was good but there was not a good selection of sushi. Service was ok. If you eat here because of the sushi you will be disappointed

It’s been years since I have been here. It used to be a lunch favorite when I was in high school. However my most recent trip did not live up to expectation. Some of the food was far from hot, though I think that might have had to do with the time of day because it seemed like they were bringing out hot«more fresh» food as we were leaving. The staff seemed to be hovering around strangely, but they were very helpful as far as refilling drinks and even cleaning up very politely when one of the kids spilled. As far as price it was very reasonable. The only other thing to add is I would recommend going closer to dinnertime.

It almost sounds like the reviews are for a different restaurant ! One review states that they contracted intestinal issues within minutes of eating at the King Buffet, bullshit, impossible. It takes hours to get the runs, dumbass! We had lunch at the King, the worse part of the experience was finding the place from the directions we got! The place was clean, the floor was great(I did not come here to admire the floor). It was quite(I despise unruly kids). They had a great Shrimp Cervechie and cold Pickled Octopus that was great! They had a Mongolian BBQ that was good(it is hard to rave about the cook). They had the usual selections that were fresh(we got there at 1:00PM, they were not crowded). The staff was prompt and attentive. The days of the real cheap Chinese buffets are long gone so under ten bucks for lunch, with a beverage is standard fare. If you did a crappy review in the past, consider giving the place another chance!

The food was bland and luke warm at best. The service was strange. There were people monitoring the buffet with their phones in hand playing games or music or who knows what. Other workers stared at diners around the place. There was plenty of food and seemed to have the same selection as other King’s Buffets. The place was reasonably clean. The best news is that the view is great. This would be a great spot for a good restaurant

Wish there was a minus category. We have eaten here every time we come to Tahoe. It’s always been acceptable. This time, there are no words to describe it. All the food was Luke warm, dried out and OLD. They were serving leftovers from the night before. It was horrible. We complained to the manager and she admitted that they were having problems with keeping the food hot, and that there were broken appliances in the kitchen. And the owner won’t get them fixed. We discouraged another couple from eating there as we were leaving. Spent the entire night on the throne. Will never go there again. The health department needs to shut them down. DANGEROUS.

I have been here a few different times, it seems to be getting better, but still not great. The first time I went was awful. The crab was so dry I couldn’t eat it, and the rest of the food was bland and flavorless. Even simple foods like frys were not good. Half of the food was old, like it had been sitting out for hours. I have never eaten so little at a buffet before. A friend talked me into going back a few months later. It was better, some of the food was at least edible that time. They had a very small selection of food for a buffet. Nothing I ate there was anything special. They didn’t have crab available that time. I was at least able to eat enough to get full that time though. I will never waste my money here again.

I used to frequent King Buffet years ago during my ‘off-season’ winter stints in Lake Tahoe. It was at the time, a decent place to get your grub on… Not the best nor worst Chinese buffet I have visited. Upon my return to The Carson City-Lake Tahoe region, I made a beeline to King Buffet as soon as time afforded me to do so. To the best of my recollection, nothing here has changed much except for the price which seems to have increased by a buck or so. The food selection is decent and varied, none of the offerings I had were stale or off-putting. Good soft serve ice cream as well with {usually} crushed nut toppings available — these are usually hard to come by as little things mean a lot n such matters. Service has always been prompt and polite in my line of experiences there. Perhaps not the king of Chinese buffets but King Buffet is A-OK.

Food is okay for the pricing, love the buttered shrimp! Décor could be updated, flooring should be replaced. I only have one major complaint that keeps me from going more than a few times a year… People seem to think it’s okay to let your kids scream/yell and run around the entire place like maniacs! I have kids. I would never let them run around screaming at the top of their lungs bumping into people. The folks that run the place are quiet, shy, polite people and I’m sure they don’t know how to handle it. This has happened the last several times we have gone.

This buffet suck balls. What we called spaghetti is what they called chow mein. How could you guys used spaghetti pasta noodles to substitute chow mein noodles? Wth? You guys are Chinese for goodness sake. Very disappointed in their selections. Not only that but food were out and they wouldn’t bring out more. The worst thing about this place was the flies that were around the food. We only came here because my cousin dragged us here for lunch/dinner. I barely touch their food. Instead, I sat there watching everyone else eat. After my bro walked up to the register to pay, he came back to out table and waited til the rest of the fam was down. When we were walking out, the waiter flagged us down and asked if we paid. Really? Ohh, come on now! We left the receipt on the same table where you were cleaning up + tips. My first and my last time going here.

Pretty decent Chinese buffet. I’ve been here once or twice. I was not expecting much for Carson City, but was pleasantly surprised. I eat«real» Chinese food all the time. I know Chinese food. I don’t remember the details of my visit(s), but I do remember that me and the wife walked away fairly impressed by the quality of the food and overall value.

We got a rave review of the place from a friend… so we went for the sea food, primarily the crab legs… However, when we got there there were no crab legs there but we drove 40 minutes from South Lake Tahoe for it and were starving, s we stayed . Sushi wasn’t bad… and there were a couple of Chinese dishes that were tasty. like a Mongolian pork and the pot stickers. However, we went for sea food and Salmon was horribly OVERCOOKED, worse than tuna in a can… White fish was like rubber, and there was no more sea food… Hunan Garden in South Lake Tahoe is WAYBETTER buffet. So we ate, and on the way back the diarrhea kicked in… Thank God there were heated rest stops on the way home… otherwise both of us would had to go on the side of the road, I hope the owner reads the reviews and does not let the food sit there until it makes you sick… I would give it a «0» if I could

Don’t bother even if you have a coupon. There is plenty of food stations, and they will make you Mongolian beef for a tip. There is limited sushi. The staff does replenish the Buffett frequently. The floors could use a good clean and the Christmas decorations probably taken down. The whole place could use a clean for that matter.
