Great Philly steak sandwich! Highly recommended. Perfect blend of meat, cheese, onions, and peppers. Soft, tasty bun. Love the casual format: order at the front and they bring the food to you when it is ready.

I should have reviewed G&D long ago. We have been coming here for — um — decades.
Salad bar is always fresh, love the steak, pizza, gyros, fries, etc. Service is always fast, courteous. Dine in or carry-​out — always good.
This place is so busy there is often a line at the cash register to pay.

This is a great place. The main reason is the baked potatoes. I am not sure what they do to them but they are so fluffy and yummy. The steaks are okay, the steak or chicken Philly’s are awesome as is the steak sandwich. Love the fries too as they are steak fries and not those skinny little things trying to pass for fries. I always say if you want a steak just to have steak, this is a great place, now if you want a nice thicker steak, go to another steak house. But for a thin steak they are pretty darn good. Not as cheap as they used to be, but not bad. They also serve bottles of beer and have a few desserts. The salad that comes with the steaks are nothing to write home about and if you are a lettuce snob you will turn your nose up at the simple iceberg lettuce offering. All in all, a nice little hometown, locally owned dive that’s worth the trip just to figure out how they remember who gets what order!

This place is amazing, it was my first time in there. Actually I was planning to have a dinner in downtown, but I was passing by and decide to stop and try something new! It was a great choice! The food is delicious and the service is fast and respectful. I definitely recommend this place!

For what you get this is actually a pricy restaurant. It was freezing inside as they save on heating bills. A salad of iceberg lettuce and nothing more. Tasty thin cut steak and plenty of sauces but the main perk here is meat and potatoes. A better version of this is The Best Steakhouse near the Fox Theater in St. Louis. Same concept but I believe tastier and better sides. Still when in Columbia may stop here to get my steak and potato fix.

What can I say? G&D steakhouse is a great place to eat. The family and all the employees are super nice every time you go into the restaurant. I don’t know how it’s possible but they never have a bad day. If you haven’t been able to go in yet you need to try it soon. It will become a place you stop in all the time even if it’s just for the smiles you’ll receive. I used to live in Missouri and I went there often I now live in Tennessee and every time I’m back through there I try to go there! Thank you G&D owners and staff for always making it a pleasure to eat there. Cheers!

Amazing Place, loved the food, loved the service; super fun! This is a great place to go for pizza. They have a pizza with feta cheese that is delicious. The owner came to our table, he is Greek and was very accommodating and made us all laugh and really we all had a great time! I will go back!

Just ok. We had the cheeseburger & fries lunch special. It tasted like a pre-​made burger you purchase at a big box store & reheat in a skillet. Fries were ok but may have been a little freezer burnt. The cafeteria style was also a bit of a surprise. We won’t be returning.

I heard about this place while growing up from my parents, who both went to Mizzou. I always heard about the owner’s famous statement, «Lots of beer in America!» However it wasn’t until a friend of my took me here that I figured out why it’s so memorable. The food is amazing! And the prices are even better! It’s a cute little joint run by the NICEST people! You definitely must go if you are in the area!

If you want to feel like you are eating among friends. This is the place for you. You will feel like you have found long lost friends after one trip through the ordering. Everyone is friendly.
All of the food is cooked to order. Nothing except desserts is pre-​made or precooked. Steaks, burgers, chicken, spaghetti and gyros– they have it all. If you need a Pepsi fix (or Mountain Dew) they have you covered too.
The chicken philly and fries is the greatest.
Lunch specials from 11 – 2 too.

A complete testimony to everything written above: we just came here for the first time since writing the original review.
1) they recognized us and knew our order as usual
2) he called us out and asked which one of us had written the Unilocal review and thanked us
3) half way through our meal they brought us baklava to try. We had never ventured into desserts (mostly because we are always SO full), but the baklava is home made and was delightful.
This place cares their customers. A++

I’ve been coming to this quaint little establishment for over 2 decades, and all I can say is that you won’t find more consistently tasty yet affordable steaks, gyros, chicken strips, etc. in Columbia. The staff is always friendly, and the food is always prepared quickly and arrives piping hot. You seriously can’t go wrong with this little gem. This is always a must visit for me and my tailgating friends when coming back for Tiger football season.
Don’t forget to pick up a side salad. They are a real treat!
