This could be the best café you’ll find in the Hudson Valley. It’s certainly a destination worth going out of your way for if you’re near Cornwall. The ambiance is casual, almost as if a restaurant from the early 1950’s has been preserved intact. The food, on the other hand, reflects the way we eat(or should eat) now. Everything from the vegetables to the meats, and even the coffee are locally grown or from a local distributor(in the case of the coffee, it is locally roasted). At the moment they are only open for breakfast, brunch and lunch. In the past they were open for dinner on weekends, but that was too burdensome on the kitchen. I hear it may start up again for Saturday nights when the weather gets warm. There are outdoor café tables in warm weather. The walls have rotating exhibits of local artwork and most of the indoor tabletops have tops that were painted by customer-artists. Everything about this place works. The Chef-owner(Donna) spent years working at the famous Chez Panisse in Berkley, and her skills are always evident in the food she prepares. I’ve never been disappointed here. They don’t serve alcohol but you can BYO.

Great service! Our waitress was so sweet and very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. True small town diner food, made to order perfectly. Indoor and outdoor seating, open kitchen and great menu choices. We’re visiting the area and my family of six are glad we stopped in for breakfast! I give them 4 stars instead of 5 because the inside although was clean, was a little worn. Great service, good food.

We waited about 20 min and got ‘shoehorned’ in but it was well worth the wait. After hiking the nearby Storm King State Park, this place is cozy, close by and very charming and it’s not just for breakfast. They’ve got healthy sandwich and salad choices as well as burgers. My mushroom+cheese melt on whole wheat was delicious and my sister’s «roots and shoots» salad looked healthy with avocado slices and alfalfa spouts. We were very pleased with the whole experience and will be back again.

A quaint little restaurant in the hudson valley my friends and I stumbled upon after a quick hike at Storm King State Park. Food was amazing but I had two main problems, the service speed and the portion sizes. Although the food was very good(I got the mexican hash) the portion was only enough to half fill our famished stomachs, meals of equivalent price in Downtown Manhattan are larger in portion size… Secondly, for the amount of servers, the service quality was subpar and the wait time was very long. They even forgot our toast, serving it after numerous requests and finally receiving it as we got our bill. Overall food was amazing, but service and price a tad unreasonable.

A great, homely café. Highly suggested if you’re in the area, wonderful brunch. Service can be a little slow, but the quality of food is very worth it.

Perfect breakfast/brunch spot. The boyfriend and I stopped here for breakfast on our way to Saratoga. Excellent service. Very quite and peaceful town. Corned beef was really good! Outside seating available.

We picked this place for breakfast on our last morning of visiting the Hudson Valley. Cornwall-on-Hudson is the kind of Hudson Valley town I had heard about that was quaint and artsy, so the area was a draw as well. The café has two indoor sections and outdoor seating. We asked to have our table moved because we were cold where we were sitting. DW ordered eggs, homemade sausage, and corn and oat pancakes. I ordered Mexican hash. DW’s eggs were cooked perfectly and the pancake was a delight. The sausage was a bit of a miss in texture and a little dry. My hash had some tasty pico de gallo and was a good dish, though the chorizo was a little lacking in heat. Service was proficient.

Breakfast was great, can’t remember what we had, but the place is an amazing hole-in-the-wall.

Stopped by this lovely place after a ride past West Point. Small town charm! Very pleasant staff. Husband had the burger which was huge and fresh homemade potato salad. I had the special… Mexican Salad with grilled steak on top. Yummy and very filling. Ingredients were very fresh!

The food was just OK(kind of bland) but no where near worth what I paid for it. The prices are obscene for a breakfast café. I will not return.

Solid meal. Cheap and possibly the biggest legal allowable portions. Got, the kale salad and the turkey club. Great meal.

After an insanely long hike to start the season, we searched for a random place to get lunch and we came across this place. As soon as we pulled up and parked we noticed the outdoor seating which we were able to get a table. The service was incredibly fast, coffee came as quick as we needed it. We ordered a couple of different omelets along with their banana multi grain pancakes. The California omelet was amazing, the home fries were seasoned perfectly with a nice kick of spice to them. Awesome place that we will definitely be back to soon enough!

The food was decent-good as was the service. The issue is that the prices were too high for a casual joint for breakfast.

This is definitely a great place to go too, everyone is really friendly and definitely welcoming. Maryjoe took care of us and she was such a sweet heart she was very friendly and was on point with the service. The food was really good especially the Mexican hash. It was definitely filling and worth getting. Like always I stuff my face wherever I go. I ordered the French toast on top of that. Overall great experience will definitely come back here for the wonderful hospitality.

Came here for the Hudson Highland Nature Museum, and stopped here for lunch. My pretzel burger was juicy and delicious. The potato salad was great. My wife and kids enjoyed their food too. We did score a big table in the back for the kids. The food is on par with what you get at a good brunch place in manhattan.

We come from the Bronx all the way here just for Brunch! Defiantly worth the drive and the scenery is a plus. Food is very fresh made to order. The pancakes are heavenly. My favorites are the veggie hash, country style omelet, and waffle. Staff is very friendly

Although I was just visiting the lower Hudson Valley area briefly this past weekend, I can happily say that this is probably the most impressive breakfast diner I’ve been to in a very long time. On Saturday and Sunday morning we went for a quick bite to eat to get our day started and the food that was delivered blew my expectations out of the water! Eggs were scrambled perfectly — no brownness, no dryness, and perfectly creamy, the specials were phenomenal with the extremely fresh thinly julienned zucchini, yellow squash, and fresh sweetcorn and everything was just soft, fluffy, and cooked to perfection. For only $ 9 — $ 11, my friends and I got these massive plates with eggs, sauces, some form of other protein, homemade hash browns, and 2 slices of perfectly toasted buttered(!!) toast that were literally the most perfect starts to the day that anyone could’ve asked for. The owner greeted us(who also seems to be the head chef) and was extremely friendly along with her wait staff, so that coupled with the great food made it really difficult for me to find fault in just about anything. Even on Sunday they gave us fresh apple cider donuts on the house! How great is that?! I would highly recommend Hudson Street Café to any local or anyone passing through the town — it’s definitely a great place to visit for a phenomenal breakfast!

Hudson Street Café is bright, breezy, and spacious. I love the skylight above the open kitchen, cash register, and barstool area; it’s really rehabilitative after a very long night. There’s also a backroom seating area, and a sidewalk seating area, lots of windows, lots of fresh air; it’s all very cool and calm. I’ve noticed that one of the waitresses, with curly hair and glasses, is superior to the rest, who are all fresh out of high school, but everybody is always friendly and welcoming. Now, as for the food, I love it. It’s simple and delicious. I’m particularly enamored with Mexican Hash: chorizo, potatoes, eggs, beans, salsa, sour cream, and cheese; everything goes together rather harmoniously. But even things like their bread is really good, something so simple, locally sourced. Unfortunately, they are only open for breakfast and lunch, but I’ll take what I can get.
