I had the steak enchiladas with goat cheese. It was very tasty. Do not order a Long Island. They do not know how to make them at all. I got a glass filled with Triple Sec and sour mix.

As other reviews state, service is slow to non existent especially if you do something crazy and try to sit outdoors. Drinks are the best here as food doesn’t rate. Two stars for drinks.

Born and raised in Mexico City. Came to Atlanta via Los Angeles. Living in oakhirst(Decatur), this is the only place I would consider eating. Not only the quality, atmosphere, and staff are great. But the food is as close as it gets to real home cooking Mexican. Presented in an elegant way, this place makes you feel like you’re in someone’s home for dinner. I am always reluctant to recommend Mexican food outside Buford highway. But if you’re in Decatur, this is the place to be.

We’ve been dining here for almost 10 years. Mezcalito’s is great food and it never disappoints! Their Margaritas are strong and not made with a sugary mix. I recommend the tacos, enchiladas, tamales and rice & beans!

Top shelf well created Spanish cuisine. Great bar. Apps are special with the green salsa a real treat. Always go for the special, but the Cuban is a fav.

The setting is super-casual, but not at all trashy or dingy. There are 3 seating options to choose from: indoor, outdoor and the patio under a rooftop, which is where we sat(a wise decision since it started pouring rain halfway through our meal). Ambiance-wise, it has kind of an American pub feel to it, mixed with a little bit of Mexican flair. The food, however, is very Mexican — REAL Mexican, not Tex-Mex. I’ve heard many of the dishes are really good, but I personally didn’t like what I ordered(chicken tostadas) and I wasn’t overly impressed with my drinks(mojitos), either and since not liking my meal is an automatic –2 stars in my book, I can’t rate this establishment any higher than 3 stars. I feel bad, because our waitress(Angela) was super friendly and patient and I enjoyed the overall vibe of the place — if I ever come back, I’m ordering something different and if I like it, I’ll upgrade my rating to 4 stars. And I would come back — if someone else wanted to go there, I’d happily try it again. I just wouldn’t suggest going there if someone asked me where I wanted to go.

The location here is great, the beer prices are fairly reasonable and the food was delicious Try the lobster taco if you like seafood– it’s like none other I also had the Queso Fundido — delicious! With mushrooms and onion slivers it was very flavorful for a cheese dip I see a lot of staff complaints in the review and, at the restaurant, a neighboring table was very irritated with the speed of service and availability of their server — I look at it like this; this is a laid back, chill restaurant … It’s not supposed to feel like Applebee’s with servers up your butt trying to rotate that next group of customers through This is a place for people who want to relax and feel a laid back vibe– don’t come here if you are looking for the in and out

Oh boy do we love this place! Our go to Mex place. From service to food to ambiance to location it is excellent. They could keep the high standards throughout the years. Great job all around.

Unanimously, our decision for lunch was that of tacos on a Saturday afternoon and, with no shortage of choices, we landed on Mezcalito’s due to proximity. We arrived just after lunchtime proper and there were a few other tables occupied with plenty of seating available on the covered patio and the front patio as well. We grabbed the front table with the bench seat as it was the best bet for us with a carseat and our little dude. We were super comfortable the entire time. The décor, menu, and general delivery of the restaurant is about what you’d expect from a neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The familiarity was rather nice and we all locked eyes with what we wanted to order right away. The food was honestly pretty stellar. We started with some chips, salsa, and queso with chipotle. The chips were the perfect thickness were plentiful. Both salsas were great and the queso was nice and smoky. We drained all of it. As far as tacos go, they were phenomenal. I decided on grilled fish(salmon) and the Taco Chino — grilled pork with marinated cabbage and cilantro. The pork was sweet and glazed with a similar profile not far off from teriyaki. The slaw really brought all of the flavors together and provided some fantastic texture as well. The salmon taco was my favorite for sure. The fish was grilled medium and had delicious, fresh flavor. I’m glad I only decided on the two tacos and forwent the sides(rice and beans) as I would have been far too full. I did get to try the green rice, though, and it was quite delicious. My only criticism I will offer is that there was only one server on the floor the entire time we were there. She seemed a bit overworked and spread pretty thin as more and more tables came in. Though, she handled every customer with a smile and she even brought us two bottles of water so we didn’t go without. I’m a huge fan of Mezcalito’s and can’t wait to come back for lunch one day after church or just on a whim. Those tacos are worth the trip.

This place looks like a hole in the wall, but it’s really cute. The food is delicious. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. The red sauce was good and had a unique taste to it. The cilantro rice was fab, and I hate cilantro! I had the veggie enchiladas and now that I’m back in Ohio, I’m craving then something fierce. The only reason it’s not five stars is because of the extended seating area. They have heater fans, but sitting near windows that only have plastic pulled down while a freezing breeze is hitting you isn’t too fun while dining. I can’t wait to go back to the Atlanta area so I can visit again. In the summer …

Vegan friendly Mexican food! Love love love. Their rice and beans are vegan and they have a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes. They have an avocado salad, tofu tacos, veggie enchilada, etc. I got the stuffed pepper with vegetables. It was perfect! When I checked in, I got a shot of tequila called Devil’s Water for free! The interior of the restaurant is so well done. The Mexican decoration is really inviting and pleasing to look at. I realize that I had Mexican food three meals in a row now. But this was the best of them yet.

I’ve been back twice, and the portions are getting smaller. Still great food, nice servers, lovely atmosphere, but there are a lot of other places to explore. If you’re like me and you judge a place on the amount of leftovers, getting the best for your dollar, this isn’t the spot. If that doesn’t concern you, it’s a wonderful place.

Been here a couple of times before, and went in last night to utilize a Scoutmob deal. The food is pretty alright. I’ve never been blown away by anything, but it is solidly ok. They always seem to go a little crazy on sauces; I do like some sauce on my food, but I guess I need to remember to ask them to go light or put it on the side. The margaritas could be a little larger, but the flavor is there. Service is usually a little too laid back for my tastes, and sometimes the lack of lighting is just more hindering than it is intimate. Regardless, I’m glad Oakhurst has this option, and I’m sure I’ll be back again in the future(I could probably be swayed a little more if the chips and salsa were complimentary, though).

Updated from 2 star review: I bought a $ 25 coupon from Scoutmob(for a dinner of a «cheese dip, 2 margaritas and 2 entrees») which was the only way I was giving this place another chance. My wife and I went last night and here’s how it went. 1. It was SO dark at the bar that we had to use the lights on our phones to even read the menu. Only 2 seats at the bar seem to have a light over them, and even that is pretty dim. 2. the«Devil’s water» margarita was a rocks glass completely filled with ice, a shot glass of pepper water, ½ a shot of mix and ½ a shot of tequila. 3 sips and it was gone and I was left with a glass of ice. I’m not sure if this was a Scoutmob size, but if I had paid $ 7.50 for it I would have walked out. and frankly I was pissed to pay for it at all. 3. The cheese dip($ 5) was so bland that we had about 6 dips of it and pushed it away. We ordered guacamole($ 6) to use up the chips($ 3) we had ordered and it was just as bad and also went uneaten.(Note to server: when you see a fat guy like me and chips/guac and cheese dip pushed away you should know something is wrong) 4. I had the fried chicken and mole. on the first bite I could tell that they needed to change the oil in the fryer. What a drag. My wife’s meal was slightly better, but she didn’t finish it either. Our server, Sarah, was really nice, and she did ask us how everything was, but my wife and I discussed that if everything we ordered was this bad that sending anything back was a waste of time, especially when we were only paying $ 25(plus tip). In the end they charged us $ 9.95 for the Guac(and chips which were not included in the Scoutmob offer of «Cheese dip) and then a 17.50% tip for the entire dinner before taking off the coupon discount. Which I might not have minded so much if ANYTHING that we had was edible. Conclusion: This was quite possibly the worst meal I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant, and I’ve found a fingernail in my grits at a Waffle House(but at least the food tasted good there). Despite my love of Mexican food and the fact that this place is 2 blocks from our house, we will never go back.

The chicken enchiladas are over rated. You have to pay for the cops and salsa that is not normal at a Mexican restaurant. Not a lot of seating and only one waitress. The food does come out fast i don’t know if that’s a good or bad think. The rice was not good the color is green and it had corn. I will continue looking for an authentic Mexican spot. This place in my opinion is overrated abs pricey.

It’s Lent and I have tried to make positive commitments to be a better version of who I am supposed to be as well as NEGATIVE commitments(i.e., give things up or try to stop behaviors). One of the things i gave up was meat — all meat(moo, cluck, oink, etc.). What to do on a Friday night when you want to kick back after a tough week? Oh, did I mention I gave up booze, too? Mezcalito’s hit the mark — I think they had a ScoutMob, too. We split the chips with cheese dip(«queso cheese», if you will) and then I got a massive quesadilla with spinach and goat cheese. Pretty darn good. To drink? I had a Mexican Coke(which I haven’t had in years). All in all, not a bad dinner — and in Oakhurst which is a fun place to go.

I’ve been having cravings for enchilada for weeks now, and finally got a chance to get some Mexican after visiting Fernbank the other day.(They’re only 6 minutes apart). CHICKENENCHILADA($ 9.95) This chicken enchilada dish was amazing — two pulled chicken enchiladas topped with Monterrey Jack cheese and tomatillo(green) and red salsas respectively. The enchilada breaks apart nicely even with a fork, and there’s a warm gooey string of cheese that drips from the fork down to the plate. And the rice, oh the rice! It reminded me of the green cilantro rice from Peru — I could eat that all day. The beans were really nicely flavored too. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my meal. PESCADOMEZCALITO’S($ 12.95) This dish features their grilled tilapia on a bed of mashed potatoes topped with roasted red pepper sauce. The sauce has a deep smokey flavor from the roasted red peppers. On the side, there’s a heaping amount of romaine, cabbage, tomatoes, seeds, which comes with a sweet citrus vinaigrette. I could eat that salad everyday until I died. VEGGIEENCHILADAS($ 8.95) This was almost a hybrid of my chicken enchilada and the sauce from the Pescado Mezcalito’s. They both seemed to have the roasted red pepper flavor. My vegetarian friend ordered this dish and thoroughly enjoyed it, and killed it. CHILAQUILES($ 7.95 w/o meat, $ 10.90 w/meat) This dish is also known as a tortilla lasagna, where there’s two layers of tortilla filled with Mexican goodness in between. The top is covered in melted cheese as well. My friend enjoyed it! DEVIL’S WATER($ 5 or free with check-in) This is essentially tequila soaked with 10 different peppers. My friend asked the waiter for this before the meal so that he could sober up with food and drive afterwards. The waiter seemed a bit weary and warned that it could potentially ruin his meal if he drank it beforehand. When he brought it out, the waiter even watched as my friend downed the shot haha. It turned out to be fine, but it did have a spicy burn for a little while. TIPS Parking isn’t too terrible, but it was hard to find the restaurant as a first timer. For your reference, if you are looking at the front of Mojo Pizza and Wings, it will be a few stores to the right of that. Overall, very pleasant experience! And I’m happy to have stumbled across the Oakhurst Square and hope to visit again. [52 of 100]
