Went here for lunch and the Rainbow lunch special was great! Reasonably priced, friendly service, fresh food. BUT-Ordered pick up dinner this evening and $ 63.00 later, missing some of my order and none of the perks that come with dine in(i.e. Miso soup, cucumber, etc.) were included with my to go order. Will be going back to ordering from Sushi Garden next time!

This is a very mediocre sushi bar. There’s is nothing outstanding about their food. It’s not the worst sushi in EP but it’s definitely no Dragon Fly. My chirashi bowl was colorful but something wasn’t right about the fish maybe just a tad warm. Sorry but thumbs down Sunny I shall not be returning here for sushi!

Really enjoy coming here for sushi and their other offerings. Their sushi rolls are tasty and their Korean menu is great. The service is always on point and I’ve never had a bad meal here. While it’s not going to blow you out of the water, you will certainly leave satisfied.

Our quest continues, sushi rolls here are just simple and probably not even average by our standards. For lunch, we got a teriyaki chicken bento box lunch special, a spider roll, and a volcano roll. (Food) 1) The bento box came with with a salad, panko crusted shrimp and veggies, a gyoza, a cream cheese filled fried wonton, rice and the teriyaki chicken and stir fried veggies. The teriyaki chicken was undercooked, watered down and flavorless. The panko crusted shrimp and veggies were golden brown and crunchy, I was expecting tempura but it provided a crunchy texture to keep it interesting. The salad is made with iceberg lettuce and the dressing had a weird ginger onion taste. The gyoza and fried wonton is just like any other you would get from any Japanese/Korean/Asian eatery. Bento box conclusion, 2⁄5 the major rating is because of the amount of food and not being completely disappointing. 2) The spider roll was definitely a soft shell crab. We’ve had many spider rolls in our time from coast to coast. This is by far the worst place we’ve ever had a spider roll. Rating for this item is a 0⁄5. Though it wasn’t disgusting, the price(10.95), serving size(5−6pcs), and overall I would not recommend this item unless you have an insatiable craving for a spider roll and you can’t find any other place fulfill your desire. 3) The volcano roll, normallly this would be wrapped in foil and actually baked. This roll was poorly made. A california roll topped with a sriracha mayo and microwaved scallops. 0⁄5 rating, serving size and tasted nothing like a volcano roll. Overall opinion on the quality of the food at Sunny Sushi… we would not come back here for another meal. Beware of japanese establishments with korean owners. We didn’t try the korean items but I’m sure it would be better than the japanese items, this is a sort of trend that we’ve noticed from all our food expeditions. Korean owners of a japanese eatery does not match well. (Service) The service was pleasant and good. We didn’t have to ask for a water refill which is excellent compared to most of the service we’ve had from coast to coast. The hostess and waitresses were friendly and nice. If we were to ever have a meal at an establishment just for the service the whole purpose of it would be defeated. Our overall rating is a 3.5÷5 for service, peasantry, and friendlyness. These are our opinions on Sunny Sushi. Do not let our review discourage you from having a meal here. From having better experiences our review gave this eatery a very low rating on food. Happy eating and enjoy! Our search continues!

This place has very good reliable food. I’ve had their lunch bentos as well as their sushi and it’s all tasty for a great price. I’ve come here two years in a row for lunch on Christmas Eve with my family since our kitchen is a mess from cooking and baking for the Christmas Eve dinner. Their service is always good and everybody is friendly… I’ll be back again during the year and for my annual Christmas Eve bento!

One of the only places around here that does not have cream cheese on almost every sushi roll. Really yummy food.

The best we’ve found in town since moving from the greater Seattle, WA area this summer! Just sad they don’t serve mochi for desert. ;)

We like the sushi here. Just extreme frustrated that we can never call in for take out service. I’ve been trying for the past 20 mins. They really need to improve there phone system or setup an online ordering system. It’s ridiculous. Happens far too often with this place. Never had so many issues like this place. Would gladly give 4 – 5 stars if not for this issue.

Sung Hui is right, it’s tough to manage staff and ensure every experience is fantastic for every patron. My wife and I have been back a couple of times, and have been very pleased. I would recommend Sunny’s, especially when Ed and Sung Hui are on duty.

Best sushi in El Paso hands down! Tried several places before finally discovering this gem. Now we are regulars and never had a problem. Service is great and fast. We don’t even have to order our drinks because as soon as we walk in they remember what we like. The fish is super fresh and done right. Try it out, the lunch special is crazy, you won’t be disappointed!

Great lunch special(: the Mexican orgasm roll with the five piece nigiri is a great deal. Fresh fish and delicious. I got the spicy salmon roll on the side, not the flavor I expected, wouldn’t recommend it if you are looking for a traditional flavor. Crab wontons were great too!

Pretty good sushi. I’m a bit of a sushi snob so I try to keep that in mind when reviewing. I haven’t found great sushi here in EP, but this place was good. I’d go back.

The restaurant is good. I don’ t eat sushi but they also have a few Korean dishes. They have bim bim bab, bulgoki, and a few rice dishes.

There’s a large number of sushi places here in El Paso, but only a handful that don’t completely disgust me. I mean that goes for any city, but I’ve had a lot of hit or miss experiences… mostly miss. Yes, this is a desert so I don’t expect a sushi spot to serve tuna and eel that was caught just moments before I was seated. As long as the ingredients are fresh and served at the correct temperature, I’m happy. This Sonny’s Sushi meets my expectations in the freshness department. Beyond the rolls being fresh, they’re also prepared well. Nothing’s worse than a roll that’s falling apart because there isn’t enough rice or it isn’t sticky… well except a roll with spoiled fish that’s falling apart. Sushi here comes with complimentary miso soup(as it should) and a slightly sweet cucumber kimchee(it may or may not be kimchee). The miso soup could have more or bigger pieces of tofu, but it was still good. I loved the cucumber kimchee, just the perfect amount of pickling done. Once the gyoza arrived, I knew regardless of the sushi outcome I could at least always come here for the apps and entrees. Fried to divine perfection without overcooking the inside and making it greasy. The shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna roll came out. The spicy tuna was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The shrimp tempura was bomb! I love fried rolls, but it so easy to overdue them so when I saw this bite-sized, panko crusted roll came out I was ecstatic. Not only did it look good, it tasted good too! I forgot to ask what sauces they had available so I ended up just using soy sauce + wasabi and asking for a side of eel sauce(I eat it with almost every roll… don’t judge me). Service was ehhh. Friendly enough, but they weren’t exactly jumping over tables to ask if I was doing okay. They brought out my order and then would kind of disappear. But whatever, I got my order, it was good, my drink was refilled by a server. So it’s all good. SS is in the same shopping center as the Japanese Crêpe House and Ripe so a great residential location not too far from Resler or the far end of Mesa. Not a bad place to stop for sushi if you’re out by Transmountain on the westside.
