Before you read anything else is important to know that if it was just about the experience and service this place would get 5 stars, but my rating is merely a reflection of the food. When I got here I was surprised to see that we got a free salad, Mizo soup, and 4 piece gyoza, however for me the salad was way too spicy it had to much wasabi for my taste, the Mizo soup didn’t have much flavor, however the gyoza was delicious that dish alone is a 5 star dish. As far as the rolls they are very simple, and sadly they lack on taste, but if you come here make sure that you ask for a side of spicy mayo and a side of eel sauce, they are actually very good and would make you really enjoy those rolls.

The place is kind of small but looked very cute. The servers were very nice and helped us quick. We got three free appetizers from the house. A soup, salad and gyoza. I was not a big fan of the soup and salad. But gyoza was delicious. For the main course I ordered two sushi rolls. The princess and the Rock and roll. I liked the Rock and roll more than the princes. Love crispy food. I will definitely come back another time. I loved the music they played and the food was good.

Very fresh good food, and prices are very reasonable! Jalapeño bombs were really good. I will be back!

Amazing food, terrible service. I’ve gone there three times, and every time it’s the same experience. We get forgotten. I have had to wait over half an hour to order. Our waitress even admitted to forgetting us the last time we went. If their sushi wasn’t so good, I wouldn’t even consider going back.

Our food came with miso, salad, gyoza, and mochi ice cream for each of us. We had a sashimi combo and some rolls. The quality of the sashimi was excellent, and the rolls were all great too. The rolls were larger than expected for the price, and did not have too much rice like some other inexpensive sushi restaurants can do as a filler. Good service. Good atmosphere. Best sushi I’ve had in El Paso for sure, and possibly the cheapest too.

I’m from out of town and I come here often for business, I really like this place, the only suggestion I have is that I wished they an alternative to white rice, such as; brown rice.

I love Sushi Garden on Mesa! Never a disappointment! I usually get the sushi D and a roll. The miso soup is always nice and hot. They give you complimentary dumblins when you dine in. I recommend the jalapeño bombs!

As someone who is from California, I’m so used to fresh sushi. I’ve been in El Paso for about a year and a half, and haven’t found a decent sushi place. I finally found this gem about a month ago! I’ve gone here about once a week since then. I do love their lunch special, which does fill you up! They are very attentive which I love and makes me want to keep coming back. They also serve the complimentary gyoza with the meals which I think is awesome ! But it’s a very relaxed atmosphere and I’m glad that it’s just minutes away from home! My first visit, I order sushi combo D. Which I believe came with 4 different types of sushi rolls with 4 pieces each, with an order of the miso soup, salad and gyoza. The server again was very attentive and nice. Second visit i went in with my husband, I ordered the chicken terriyaki bowl express which again came with miso soup, salad and gyoza &!‘y husband ordered the bento box version, the only difference was that his came in a bento with 4 pieces of California rolls, for an extra $ 4 and something cents, we decided he’ll get the bowl next time. My last visit I again ordered chicken terriyaki, but the plate& it was huge. We also ordered the sashimi A combo. Between my husband and I we weren’t able to finish the food. The sashimi was like melt in your mouth good and tasted fresh, which I love! Overall, I would definitely come here over and over ! Service is good, atmosphere is great,& it is affordable!

This is by far my favorite sushi place in El Paso! Always clean, always fresh, and always delicious! The salad, miso soup, and Gyoza on the house to start off your meal are perfect and they have such friendly staff. My go to rolls are the Rainbow and Las Vegas and they never disappoint! They used to give you complimentary mochi ice cream of your choice at the end of your meal, but now I believe that’s only available on Sunday’s. However, it’s on their menu so you can still order at a great price! I highly recommend this spot over any other place in town and it’s extremely less expensive than other restaurants for the quality you get.

I was driving around looking for a new place to eat and I’m so glad I stopped by here! This place is so yummy! I got the bento box which came with a miso soup, a small salad, your choice of protein, tempura veggies, a couple pieces of California and fried rice! Everything was very good! The only thing that didn’t go as well was the salad but nonetheless it was all AMAZING, and so much food! A definite must try!

Well… that was just alright. Started out nice with some hearty miso, good salad and a nice«on the house» gesture. The sushi… was just average to start and I could have finished until I bit into the nigiri sushi at the top of my picture of my sushi B platter. Yikes, that was awful. Then I tried to eat the first tuna sushi on the B platter and it has some plastic piece in it. Needless to say… I left 3 pieces of uneaten nigiri sushi and got my bill. I NEVEREVER leave sushi unfinished. Lastly, the sushi was painfully slow coming out. Fortunately I could pass the time watching the KU vs TX game. I would go back… cautiously. :/

As an avid Japanese food enthusiast, I must say that that Sushi Garden is a very delightful experience that most other sushi bars don’t provide in El Paso. The place from the outside does not look like much but once you enter it becomes a quaint little sushi shop. We were immediately seated by a friendly waitress who took our drink orders. For my appetizer, I ordered the Jalapeño Bombs. Now I’m not an avid fan of jalapeños because quite frankly they are sometimes intimidating(even though I’m Mexican and I’m supposed to like spicy foods). However, I can say with certainty that this appetizer is one of the best I’ve ever had. I could literally order 3 of them and consider it my appetizer, entrée, and dessert. It is a halfway sliced jalapeño stuffed with crab and topped with eel and spicy mayo sauce. Just heavenly! We also got miso soup as is customary in Japanese restaurants. The soup was quite lackluster. It had little flavor and lacked tofu and seaweed. Not completely terrible though. For my entrée I ordered a Kolbi Rib Obentou which was massive! It had a little of everything: rice topped with sesame seeds, eel sauce, 6 pieces of sushi, 5 Kolbi ribs, tempura, and julienned veggies. The meat portion of the obentou can be a variety of different meats such as chicken, pork katsu, steak, etc. Although the service was exceptional and very friendly, I must say that I felt like the lady waitress was extremely overwhelmed. There were like 10 tables occupied and she was the only waitress. Because of this she was running around the place trying to keep everyone happy and I felt this was a shortcoming on the management of the restaurant. All in all, I would definitely come back here to enjoy more of the variety of food they have to offer. If you haven’t come here, don’t be intimidated by the hidden and somewhat shabby exterior, and make SURE you order the Jalapeño Bombs.

I’m really impressed with this little sushi bar. It’s very unassuming. I never noticed it while driving by but my fellow Unilocalers pointed it out with great reviews. As soon as I walked in it just felt cozy, I walked up to the bar and felt right at home. As soon as I sat down my served brought me miso, a salad with an some wasabi dressing and complimentary gyoza. I started off with a 12pc sashimi platter it came with salmon, yellowtail and tuna. The pieces large and it tasted pretty fresh. Then I ordered a lemon roll which was made so quickly. Aside from the delicious food the service was great. I have made up my mind I will be back for more!

My 500th review had to be for a place that I hold dear to my heart so there really is nothing better fitting than Sushi Garden. Almost a year later, we are definitely regulars, making SG an almost weekly ritual(somehow I only have like 16 check-ins though… obviously I’m too preoccupied with the food). I’m honestly shocked that they don’t automatically send out a salmon nigiri as soon as I arrive, but that’s probably not an appropriate thing to do in a restaurant. I’m stuck on their nigiri. Regardless of what I’m feeling like(traditional, fried or El Paso style rolls), I always order the salmon nigiri first. They cut their salmon thick and it’s absolutely delicious. Buttery delicious goodness. And of course with a thicker cut means a little bigger rice ball. Most days I eat it in two bites(which I totally don’t mind because the smooth buttery taste of the salmon served at the right temperature on top of the mound of naturally sweet white rice is heavenly perfection), but when I’m starving I can down each piece in one bite. I think I’ve cycled through all of the rolls here now and I’ve had a taste or two of their bento boxes. Everything is mouthwateringly good! They do have a lot of rolls influenced by El Paso(lots of heat), but I enjoy their traditional rolls the most. I haven’t attempted to order of menu, but their sushi chef is very talented and I wouldn’t doubt his ability to make other rolls just as well. SG is definitely busier than those first few months we started going here. Certain nights it is full, but I have yet to see a wait for a table longer than 5 – 10 minutes. It’s definitely one of the best sushi spots in EP and I wouldn’t be surprised if in a year or so they had to move to a bigger location. Service is always great. They have some new additions to the team, but they all have the same SG mentality. And the owners have the right idea because most days you’ll be offered complimentary gyoza and mochi ice cream. I know one day this will have to stop, but it’s genius for the simple fact that it gets you hooked on it with every meal so you’ll start ordering it(also it introduces El Pasoans to a different type of cuisine which I love). One of my absolute favorite restaurants in EP! Not too flashy in appearance, but it’ll blow your mind where it counts. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, perfect place for lunch or dinner. Oh, and they’ve recently added hours to include Sundays.

Really nice place to eat, service was great and lots of food for the price you pay. I was completely satisfied and I pressed with the price really. Don’t be fooled however, just because it’s affordable doesn’t mean that had a cheap taste! It was a really great meal! I love sushi and would definitely recommend to any of my friends or family. They give you miso soup, potstickers, and salad to start free of charge! Then on Sundays there is free mochi ice cream that was so good!

If you look up «Lovely Little Sushi Joint in El Paso» in the dictionary you wouldn’t be able to find anything because it is more than one word, LEARNHOWDICTIONARIESWORK! But if there were some kind of weird book that had definitions of phrases and you looked it up you would find a picture of Sushi Garden. We had one of our awesome Unilocal Happy Hours, which you should attend, here and we had a very pleasant meal. I started with the Tuna Tataki, which was yummy, and then our group was treated to complimentary Gyoza, thanks Sushi Garden! Unfortunately, I’m a very finicky Sushi-eater so even though I only had Philly and Tuna rolls, I was still impressed by the variety of creative rolls on the menu. They didn’t look as spectacular as the Oktoberfest and Las Vegas rolls that others had, but my basic rolls were quite good. And then they hit us with complimentary mochi ice cream, which was amazeballs! The restaurant itself is very cozy with a relaxed and casual atmosphere, the kind of place where you can go for a quick lunch or a nice sit down meal. Loved it!

Bottom line up front: Pretty good sushi but so-so service. I came in at lunch(noon) on a Wednesday. I was one of the first people there. The host was the only waiter in the restaurant and I sat at the bar. Sushi Garden is a tiny restaurant. It was very clean though and I didn’t feel cramped despite the small size. I ordered three rolls(Southwestern, Californian, and Octoberfest). The miso soup was hot, but as mentioned elsewhere, nothing special(but certainly not bad). The salad had a nice amount of vinaigrette but the lettuce was on its way to wilted. I was impressed at how fast they brought me the soup and salad. I also received three complimentary dumpling-thingys that others had mentioned earlier. They were very crispy and tasty(sorry the name escapes me at the moment). The California roll and Octoberfest rolls came out first. The California was only ok. Little small and chewy for me. Generous portion of wasabi for each roll(which I appreciate). The Octoberfest, however, was terrific. I finished the first two rolls and waited about 10 minutes for the last roll(Southwestern) to come out. I really liked this roll. Very crisp jalapeño slice on top. Good amount of heat. I finished about half of my last roll and was completely stuffed. I sat back and waited for the check. It took about 15 minutes to get my check and another 10 to pay out. Again, the poor host was doing the best he could as the lunch crowd had picked up. But its clear they need to hire another waiter during the busier hours. I saw one lady with a group of people get tired of waiting for utensils and go seek utensils out herself. Sadly, they didn’t offer any beers or saki. So I would give the sushi itself a 4, but the establishment as a whole, a strong 3. I would go back again.

As a Japanese person who recently moved to the states, I always have a hard time writing reviews of Japanese restaurants because none of them taste real to me. I gotta try not to be strict as it’s not fair for them you know. This one wasn’t really authentic either, BUT much closer to real then any other Japanese restaurants here in EP. It looks very plain outside. Just looks like a regular cheap restaurant with one way mirror windows. However the inside was very nice. Not a big restaurant but they had a few tables, booths, sushi bar and a big table for a group.(when we went there, there were like 10 high school students sitting at the table so you can bring numbers of people.) I ordered sushi express combo B. It came with 8 spicy tuna rolls and 4 sushi.(chef’s choice) Rolls were kinda small so it might not be enough if you usually eat a lot. Sushi was surprisingly fresh and I loved it. It was so good that I had to order more salmon sushi after I was done eating. They brought fried Gyoza, miso soup and salad with our food. Because they recently opened the restaurant, they said they are serving free Gyoza to customers. They don’t know when they’re gonna stop that. Gyoza was okay. My husband loved it.(He usually doesn’t like it) They need to work on their miso soup though. After we were done eating, they brought mochi ice cream for both of us. They are also serving mochi ice cream to all the customers now! You’ll get one mochi ice cream but if you order it, you’ll get three.(They have 3 flavors: strawberry, green tea and vanilla) It was good! If you’re looking for fresh sushi that aren’t so expensive, this place is where it’s at!
