Outstanding sushi! I had the Tenderloin and the Oh My. Both were SUPER tasty! The service was great too. I arrived WAAAAY too early to pick up my food and they gave me a bowl of miso soup on the house! Awesome! Definitely recommend this place if you are in El Paso.

I ordered the Nigiri sampler. It came with 2 pieces of red tuna, 2 of salmon, 2 of shrimp tempura, and 4 of IMITATIONCRAB. Yup, that’s like ordering a meat sampler and being served weenies in there. The texture of the rice was hard and obviously a little old. I ordered a beer off of the selection they had on display. I chose the blonde guinness because I had never had it before. Sure enough, they didn’t have any. The only reason why this place even deserves a star is because the Saporro I went with instead was cold, delicious, and served in a perfectly chilled glass. Other than that, this is definitely not THE sushi place. I still can’t believe the sampler was $ 22 with half of it being imitation crab. This place is a total rip off.

It’s obvious they’ve read their reviews and made significant improvement in service; everyone was welcoming & attentive. Eating alone, I sat at the bar and ordered Nigiri. Decent portions & I especially enjoyed the Peppered Hamachi – spicy twist on traditional nigiri. I also like the consistency of the wasabi because it was easy to spread, though I’m sure some would find it too creamy. I don’t get to El Paso often, but would recommend it.

Consistently good food and nice servers. Nothing amazing but the place always does a good job and is close to my work for a quick good meal. I can recommend it.

I cannot see why this place has such bad reviews, besides maybe they are a little pricey! Being from Austin, Texas, we have a wide variety of restaurants to choose from and sushi included. Sushi is my number one way to spoil myself when I get hungry. Unique, tastey, and stuff that almost makes you feel bad for eating it because it is gorgeous. That’s what I got there today. I went around 3pm, not that busy but the waiter always made sure my drink was filled and checked on me periodically. Can’t ask for more. The chef also prepared my meal so fast! I was walking around on campus all day so I wanted to relax and this place looked cozy. I couldn’t even play my phone game for long because he was already bringing out my food! Mind you I have had classes since 7am, I was ready to tear this up! I ordered calamari, the Panko roll, and the Caterpillar roll. It was so bomb! I even forced myself to take it slow because it was great. I did end up taking a little home with me as well but that’s normal for me. Oh and with my mango tea added(which was amazing) I ended up paying $ 42. Another reason to enjoy it a little more. I also eat a lot so maybe for normal people it would be a little less, but my god it was so yummy! Did I mention the atmosphere? It was a very well done on the inside, and very different from any sushi place in Austin that I have been in. The Beatles were on the wall, I think I saw Jimmi Hendrix as well? No idea but it was pretty neat to feel a little more comfortable than a traditional sushi place. The ceilings were also strangely arranged, with the lights and tables… It was beautiful. Less traditional in their restaurant arrangement, but their food was delicious as can be. It leaves me in awe how anyone can review this place so negatively! The only thing I could complain about was that my wallet cried after seeing that check, without the tip! Give this place a chance! This isn’t like the cheaper sushi places down the street! You’re paying for another, better experience.

Even though this was the first place where i tried sushi, since then i have only found out how terrible it is. The sad part about it is i still keep going back. The Sushi Place has pretty amazing food. From the appetizers like the Gyozas(dumplings) to their large selection of sushi. Everything i’ve tried has been excellent. What holds this place down is their terrible customer service. Walking in to the establishment no one ever says hello to you which then feels awkward when its a «seat yourself» establishment. Most of the time the waiter/waitress seems bothered by having to serve you. No friendly faces or interactions just basic service. Even then drink’s may take a long time to arrive. Recently i ordered a miso soup as an appetizer and it was stone cold. Another thing that concerns me is that they bring out the rolls as they are ready. So when you go with a big party don’t expect to eat all together. Drink refills are always late and ultimately you always feel forgotten at the end of your meal. The only reason I come here is for the sushi rolls which I think are very good. However good food doesn’t make up for the lack of customer service skills. I think they can pay more attention to that and easily create a better quality experience.

Yuck yuck. Walk in hardly anyone there and dirty tables. Workers couldn’t care a less. Serve some straight out way too much soup. Took 10 mins to order another 20 to get it. Meh. Waiter couldn’t even remember to bring an ice tea refill. Never checked back after meal finally got there. Avoid

I used to love coming here for the lunch special but ever since they changed the menu it’s been a nightmare! Not only did they change the entire menu, but the waiters are horrible!!! It took our waiter over 15 minutes to greet us and bring 2 glasses of water over… did I mention we were the only people there?! I definitely would NOT recommend this place to anyone and I won’t be returning again. If it’s not broken don’t fix it, they’ve lost a loyal customer because of their horrid service and ridiculous new menu.

Great atmosphere, good bar tending, the drink selection was amazing, and not to mention the sushi and misou soup were/are delicious! I recommend The Sushi Place Roll, The Dragon Roll, and The Geisha Roll :)

Slow service, mediocre food. Not many choices for fresh sushi as most of it is deep fried! We ordered the appetizer sampler which randomly had chicken wings in the dish. Chicken wings at a sushi place? Ok. They weren’t even good. I do not recommend this place and will definitely not be coming back!

I love the sushi place, but not so much this location. The service was poor, it took us 15 minutes to get our servers attention to get the bill, then after that another 10 minutes to receive our card. It’s a bummer because this is so close to our house.

Not your run of the mill sushi place. The parking is really bad for any of the stores and restaurants in this area but this place i woth the hunt. I found a prize right in front — lucky me!!! Although the temps were soaring outside, I chose to sit on their covered patio and enjoyed the summer breezes and their ceiling fan. It was very pleasant. The service was outstanding — people appearing out of thin air. The lunch specials all looked yummy but I chose one with Miso soup, a chilled squid salad(oooo yum) and forgive my ignorance on this stuff — but some kinda salmon slices and what looked like tuna chopped up on top of avocado strips and steamed rice all wrapped in its own little cornucopia made of dried seawweed. Steamed or stirfried rices came with it — I chose steamed. Very nice presentation with sesame and poppy seed sprinkled on the top — I think — cant remember cause it didn’t stay on the plate long. The miso soup was very good and flavor filled with its bits of onion, kelp and tofu. THEN I jumped on in and had the fried ice cream — caramel sauce and all, justifying it by telling myself I would just have a couple of veggies for supper. The crusty was perfectly cooked but kind of reminded me of Kellogs Corn Flakes. Still tasty though. Everything I had was good but next time I might just ask for a big bowl of that squid salad. It was THAT good. Now don’t say«EWWWWSQUID» until you try it. The feeling of their little suction cups sticking to the inside of your cheek is something to remember! lol Okay I made that up. Try it anyway.

Hi, my name is Jackie, I love sushi.(Hiii Jackie!) Now that that is out of the way, I have to say I don’t know how the hell(yikes!) Sushi Place is going to survive a location three or four times the size of its current one with the horrible waiter service I have received on multiple occasions. My friend and I came in on a Saturday afternoon, sat down and started talking. The waiter came over, and looked like he was going to leave a suicide note on our table instead of take our order. We needed a few more minutes to look over the menu, and he looked at us like we had killed his favorite pet. I ordered two rolls, the UTEP& the Rainbow. My friend ordered veggie whatever-whatever. It’s vegetables so it doesn’t count as sushi. The miso soup was flavorful and one of the more tasty versions. We were slurping on our drinks for a few minutes until he finally got the clue and gave us refills. Our rolls were ready. The fish was fresh, I can’t believe how fresh the salmon and tuna were. I was incredibly pleased with the food. Or well, pleased by how the food looked, because we didn’t have bowls for soy sauce. We sat for at least 5 minutes while our waiter sulked around. He finally came by to ask how everything was, and got us drink refills. We had to yell at him what we wanted as he walked away. By the time we were ready for the check, we looked over to find our waiter, sitting at a table with his friends talking about how hungover he was, with his back to us. We were pretty fed up at this point(can you blame us?!) and opted to get out of there ASAP! Man, I understand being hungover and having to work. But who chose to go out the night before when you know you have to work at a job where the money you make depends on how well you treat people? Yeah, that’s right, it definitely wasn’t me. Will I go back? I would, if their service improved, until then it a resounding no, and that goes for their new place as well. Their service is just so horrendous and it doesn’t seem like the owners care, and for me that’s a deal breaker.

Eh. This place isn’t the worst sushi restaurant I’ve eaten at, but you can certainly do better. The edamame seemed a tad overcooked … the pods kept falling apart. The miso soup tasted just a bit off, though I can’t put my finger on exactly why. The fish in the sushi rolls was almost undetectable, the pieces were so small. Usually edamame, miso soup, and 1 ½ rolls of sushi is plenty to fill me up. I had that here, plus two pieces of nigiri, and I was still hungry by the end of the meal. If you want my advice, you’re far better off going to Koze. It’s a tad bit more expensive, but what extra you pay you get back tenfold in better sushi.

this is THE absolute WORST restaurant i’ve been to in a while. i am not going to call it a sushi restaurant b/c it isn’t sushi — it’s americanized wannabe japanese rolled food. the salmon was brownish-yellow, nothing was fresh, the rice was terrible. THEYDON’T EVENFUCKINGKNOWWHATPONZUSAUCEIS!!! every roll has cream cheese in it or else it’s deep fried. obviously a group of mexican folks got the good idea to open a sushi restaurant in Kern and here you go — the most un-authentic japanese food ever. nothing was enjoyable. staff isn’t friendly. we sat at the sushi bar and no co-mingling with the rollers. oh, did i mention that they don’t even know what ponzu is or how to make it. don’t go. don’t do it. even if you want to, go to Bonsai or somewhere else. this place is a shame to japanese sushi cuisine. too bad i had to give it one star. this place isn’t good for anyone.

The service here is awful. The sushi is ok it’s really not worth the 45 min wait just for a water and a tea. The food took another hour. This is the second time I’ve been here same problem. And I swear the steak appitizer was sprinkled with that chile powder Lucas everyone got when they where kids. If there gonna suck this badly then they need to drop the price or rehire the staff. If I could go less then one star I would.
