So sad to found this place has closed. This was my son’s choice for birthday dinner. The couple who ran the place were so kind and the food was always great. I wish them well on whatever comes next for them.

Authentic Korean food… Great flavors. You can’t get any better in Oregon for Korean food like this.

After four years of driving past this place, I finally decided to stop in. The owners are so nice and sweet. I had my phone out and was looking at the pictures of the food when the one of the owners came over and started looking at it with me. She was so charming and sweet and recommend the Bento Box with Spicy Pork. It was phenomenal! What I got was a ton of food that included sticky rice, sushi, tempura veggies and shrimp as well as a salad, soup and gyoza. The price was worth all of it and more. I could not even finish all of the food. I highly recommend this place and the owners are awesome.

Quiet lunchtime visit — my first to Café Ari Rang. It will not be my last! Love the couple that owns and runs the place. The menu is large, varied and authentic. I had the Kimchi meet the pork. I asked for spicy and they met that request! Delicious! Pork, Kimchi, Onions in a nice red spicy sauce. Came with Miso soup, rice and two types of Kimchee. I’ll be back!

This evening my family and I decided we wanted to eat Korean food. Coming from Hawaii we all have eaten some great Korean food and was excited to see if it would be just as good. When we entered we were greeted by an older Asian man who was friendly. I noticed the menu were very good as far as selection went. I ordered the L. A kalbi and it was fantastic, my wife order the bbq beef and it was tender with just the right amount of sauce. The only set back was that service was a little slow because the only server was the older gentleman that sat us. Other than that I would give it 5 stars. I will definitely be taking my family back here to eat.

When I was told I was going to KBBQ, I expected table BBQ’s and a myriad of protien. However Café Arirang does all the cooking in the back. The dining room is small and quiet, we were the only ones around. The service was very nice and friendly, but the food was just subpar and unexciting. I was visitng U of O from Los Angeles, so maybe my understanding of KBBQ when I went with my friends was a little skeweed. Regardless I just left feeling unsatisfied.

Really delicious food… and lots of it. It was pretty dead when we came here on a late weeknight. The server was an older Asian man who probably didn’t speak much English(we didn’t have any issues with this). He was very friendly, and our entrees came with so many extras, we both left completely satisfied(and with leftovers). I can’t say that the food is authentic, because I honestly don’t know. It was really good though. My husband and I had the spicy pork and the spicy tofu. The pork was super tender and the tofu was crispy and delicious. We will definitely be going back.

Cutest couple runs this place. I adore them. The food is pretty good, considering I’m a broke college student and their prices are just right. I’ve tried their spicy pork and Korean beef and it’s fantastic. I really like their rice! It’s a mixture of sticky rice and brown rice I believe? But either way it’s fantastic. Their sushi is okay, lol. You can’t order it on the side it just comes as a part or the lunch or dinner meal.

The kimchee stew, pork meats rice, spicy port and the bone soup. Recommen them all.

Giving them 1 star for their kindness, salmon bento and fish cake soup… Seriously this is «COUNTRY country south country folk» my kimchee and kimchee soup(which of course was made by the same kimchee) was awful. It tasted like very oceany salty brine. I didn’t see much of ANY Korean red pepper ground… In fact it was almost like they just made it with go-chu jang! Bleh. I ate it because I can be a polite Korean girl but OMG never again! Literally left a bad taste in my mouth that although I am a diabetic I grabbed a piece of candy on the way out. I do not want to bother trying anything else. Sorry– just an honest opinion– my kimchee soup is freakin wayyyyy better! :)

On my fourth visit, I ordered the Spicy Pork box to go. It was barely edible – the pork contained too much fat(nearly half of the meat was fat). I spit most of it into my napkin. I was very disappointed, and I think it will be a long time before I go back.

After reading the great reviews and seeing the pictures of the food. My wife and I went here to try it for ourselves. My wife ordered the spicy chicken bowl and I have the teriyaki chicken bowl. A few things were off. First the rice was cold, the chicken I had was way to salty and my wife didn’t even finish her Spicy chicken because it had a really funny taste to it. I tried it and I had a weird taste as well for me. Maybe it is better during lunch period. We did go in the evening, so might not of had the freshest ingredients, but I am not about to go again to make sure.

We were making the annual road trip along I-5 when we needed to stop for food. On Christmas day, not much is open, but after reading about Arirang’s great reviews and giving them a call, to our great surprise they were open despite the holiday! We were so appreciative! We were greeted with smiles. The service was excellent and we didn’t wait long for our food. Since it is a combination of Japanese and Korean, there are many different options! They are even vegan/vegetarian options. I ordered the Kimchi Stew, which was fantastic and very authentic. Very spicy, but not over the top. It came with rice and we had a few sides of kimchi. Perfect to cleanse my system on a cold rainy day. My partner ordered the spicy chicken, which also came with rice. He was a big fan of his chicken. Both portions were large and filling and it was reasonably priced. There were quite a few people in there considering it was Christmas, so we got the vibe that it was pretty popular. Will recommend this place to friends in Eugene and will stop by on the next road trip up north!

We passed by this place since we were hungry on the way home to California. It was one of the restaurants in Eugene that had good ratings but I guess by the locals standard this was good to them. To me, the elder couple were very friendly but the food was ok. I had the Korean BBQ box but it was kinda blah. The kimchi and radish sides were more flavorful. My daughters had the spicy pork and teriyaki chicken but they were ok as well. I have had better Korean food but we come from the bay area where their Korean food was more flavorful and more selections.

Café Arirang might not look like much from the outside and when you go in it looks tacky but i rather go here than go to a nice looking place like PF Changs. you should go to places for the food and Café Arirang has good Korean food. iv lived all up and down the westcoast and in hawaii so i know Korean food and their spicey pork and LA beef are the real deal. the owners are so nice. next time im down in Eugene ill be back

The hubs law school alma mater is U of O so we decided to spend some time in Eugene before driving to see Crater Lake. I was in the mood for some Korean food and Café Arirang got decent reviews on Unilocal so we drove up to the parking lot around 7pm on a Thursday night. Unfazed by the fact that there was only 1 other car in the entire parking lot, we went inside. There was one table(korean mom & son) of patrons and it seemed like the owners knew them. We ordered their bento specials of bulgogi and spicy pork and for $ 13 you get an enormous portion of food(perfect for the hungry college student). I’m from LA where the korean food is on par with korean so of course Café Arirang can’t compare, not even close, but the thing is for a mom & pop store, it does the job. The store owners also seemed nice and they came by to check on us during our meal.

I feel bad giving this place two stars because the owners are so sweet. With that said, I’ve been here 3 times, and each time I tell myself that I won’t come back. I first dined here during its opening month. It’s Eugene and i was desperately craving Korean food, so I ordered the kalbi. Unfortunately, the meat was oily and overcooked. Nothing to write home about. Since this place had gotten such positive reviews over the next year, I decided to give it a second shot and hoped to chalk up my first dining experience as an opening month fluke. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunchbox to go. I was pleased with the amount of food for the price tag, but again, nothing special. The chicken was on the dry side and the miso soup was a little off. Granted, the salad dressing was on point, but I was disappointed overall. After my first two experiences, I was sure I wouldn’t come back. However, two of my friends liked this place and wanted to grab dinner here one night. On my friend’s recommendation, I ordered the jjajang myeon(noodles with black bean sauce). The noodles were sticky and limp, and the black bean sauce was heavy. Who knows, maybe that’s how it’s supposed to taste. What I do know is that this restaurant has lovely owners with ample parking in the front lot, but the food is just not my cup of tea. I’m a huge fan of Korean food, but this place earns 2 stars in my book.

Not impressive but not super disappointing. Looked this place up during a road trip with my family and got excited when we saw high ratings and Korean food. To be honest the high ratings shocked me but didn’t. This is probably the best Korean food in this area or let alone Oregon. Go figure. It feels like you stepped into a small Korean family’s home and their mom is cooking a meal for you. We ordered the kalbi, spicy tofu and special beef bone soup. They were all okay but nothing amazing. Like everyone has been saying, the owners were very friendly, sweet and attentive so 5 stars for customer service! The food doesn’t even compare to LA’s ktown but this is probably the best you can get in Eugene. Don’t come here with high expectations but it if you’re craving Korean food… it just might hit the spot… lightly.

Spicy chicken bowl is fantastic. Very flavorful and has a bite to it. I have posted a picture of the Spicy Chicken Bowl for everyone to see. It is quite a lot of food and comes with 2 kinds of kim chi on the side. The restaurant is somewhat small but clean and inviting and the owners are extremely friendly. I believe it is a couple who own it. He greeted me at the door and showed me to my table. They had only chopsticks for utensils on the table and when he saw me struggling a bit, he came over with a fork. Then when he saw that I was not giving up on the chopsticks, he came over to teach me now though his English is quite broken, I practiced. After a time the wife(whose English is a bit better) helped me more. She said I have it now and should practice at home. If I did, perhaps tomorrow I could use the chopsticks to catch a fly I would be so good with them. We both laughed. It was a wonderful lunch and I felt great about being there even though I was alone at my table. I will definitely go there again though it will be hard to order anything different from the menu when that chicken bowl was soooo good.

Obviously Café Arirang has been blowing up Unilocal lately. I’ve been trying to check it out for about 2 – 3 weeks… Finally I realized they aren’t opened on Saturday. THATSUCKS… But yet… they are open Sunday… off sets well. On my first visit I called it in. The owner of the joint took my call. This guy is extremely cool and very nice. I called in a Chicken teriyaki bento lunch for $ 7.99 It came with a large amount of rice, Fried shrimp, two different types of kimshi, carrots and 1 pot sticker, it also camd with a few sushi rolls… nothing fantastic, yet it was there. I really liked what I got. To be honest, I didn’t care for the rice on its own, but when I mixed it up with the chicken teriyaki and cabbage it tasted great!!! Next time I would like to do an actual sit down and get dinner. With how nice the owner was, I can only imagine nothing but the best service possible. Great place, great owners, 4 stars for now. I need that«X» factor to pop the 5th star… I could see it happening while exploring the menu.
