Great atmosphere on Father’s Day — we had a party of 20 and Maria handled us very will — no real complaints only meal size was a little small– will be back for sure

The food at Mimi’s is pretty consistently good. However, the staff really could use some training. With just a little more effort they could be so much better. For example, there were six of us in our party and, whether it’s the chef’s fault or the waitress’s I don’t know, but they got every single order wrong. Every one of them. Examples: My sister can’t eat tomatoes so she specifically asked for no tomatoes in her salad. They brought it out and… full of tomatoes. I asked for 1000 Island dressing on mine… they put Italian. When my lemonade glass was about half empty, the waitress refilled it… with water. I feel bad saying all this because the staff were all very nice and pleasant. They just need some training on professionalism and attention to detail. One last thing, and this isn’t limited to just Mimi’s, but why is it so difficult for a waitress to remember who ordered what? When they bring the food out, why is it always«Okay, who ordered the salmon?» You just took our order not long ago, sweetheart… don’t you know??? It’s not rocket science.

I ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken was almost burnt, it was dry, and very small. Almost like silver dollar sized chicken medallions on top of waffles. It was quite bland, even with the syrup over it. $ 13+ I wouldn’t suggest ordering this at all. My BF ordered the chicken Avocado sandwich. It looked like a decent size, be he also said it was bland. My daughter had mini corn dogs and fries. The corn dogs are corn dogs. But the fries were very very soggy and limp. I have no idea how management can allow French fries to go out of the kitchen like that. Over all u would never suggest coming to mimis. When getting into the car I told my BF that I would have been happier with Panda Express, it would have tasted better and cost half the price.

My boyfriend and I had so much anticipation in coming here for the first time. For months, I bugged hum about it because it looks so cute from the outside. The inside was even more cute! I didn’t think it would’ve been french cuisine. First off, I loved their apple juice. It was almost like a cider. The server was nice enough to tell me that their cider is from Nestle. For food, I started with a cup of the corn chowder, then the pot roast. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t extravagant either. My only complaint would be the bread basket. They had something that looked like a carrot Madeline and it was amazing! Although the regular french bread rolls were painfully hard. They only got even harder to eat after the few minutes of cooling down. My boyfriend and I both had to chew it so much to even be able to swallow it. My jaw was hurting me so much; even though I wanted to eat it, I came to a point where I just couldn’t deal with all the chewing effort… I also wish I tried the crêpe cake dessert rather than what our server suggested: the crème Brule/cheesecake slab cake? I can’t recall the actual name but that’s exactly what it was. It came with a strawberry sauce which was nice, but the cake itself was too thick and heavy for my liking. My boyfriend didn’t seem to like the fact that the server would always come at the most interruptive times; I saw his point but I somewhat understand the struggle since I am a server myself. Still, it wasn’t very busy that evening to the point where the server couldn’t at least say«pardon my intereuption» or not be so abrupt.

I generally don’t review chain restaurants but I will in this case. I have enjoyed going to this restaurant for many years. The concept of a coffee shop which is a step up but not quite fine dining appeals to me. My last experience dining denotes a restaurant that is struggling with this idea. Cutting little corners here and there trying to keep prices down so more people will eat there. We ordered a baked brie appetizer which had a cold chutney placed on top of it and the crostine we were served with it were merely pieces of the mini baguette given in the bread bowl sliced up and grilled. The bread bowl showed up not at the start of the meal but after the appetizer was served. It was delivered by the manager… I just don’t think our waiter would ever have got around to it. At the last second I decided to order the chicken and frittes. There was a lovely picture of half a chicken in the menu with the frittes. There was also steak and frittes and salmon and frittes. I would have been happy with any of them or many other things on the menu. What I was brought out instead was two pre processed chicken breast pieces with factory char pieces on them. This was on the menu as grilled chicken and frittes but why??? I wanted the half chicken and asked for it but I was told they were sold out. To be fair to the waiter I could have returned my food for something else but I was quite frankly too upset to deal with the waiter respectfully. I think he was inexperienced and overwhelmed. I won’t be eating here anytime soon and I am in hopes that Mimis can re-up their game and become a place again that I will consciously make a decision to choose to eat at. The last dining experience has not set well with my memories. Usually a manager would comment with the review I gave above. They must not be watching Unilocal thus the reduction from 2 stars to 1 star

Just ate breakfast here with my boyfriend this morning. We’ve both been before, and like the food well enough to return. Today I had a triple berry mimosa(always delicious) & quiche Lorraine … Again delicious. Boyfriend got bacon and eggs & a blueberry muffin. He wasn’t really a fan of the muffin. Our server was nice enough, but I didn’t really appreciate that half way through eating she brought us the bill. I don’t like feeling rushed. Also when we asked for boxes for both of our plates, we only received one. Ps. Just went for breakfast this morning. Service was nice as usual, they were decently busy for a Tuesday morning. I tried something new this time– hash eggs Benedict. Really good. I’m a big fan of hollandaise sauce, there’s something really different about theirs– can’t quite put my finger on it but it’s good. Once again got given my bill while I was still eating, haha. I’m thinking this is a manger policy in which case, heads up– it disencourages people from ordering anything else. And the coffee here is $ 3.50 a cup. Like damn. But as usual I’ll be back, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. I’m just picky about certain things :)

I got the mushroom burger, it was cool, but I didn’t get any caramelized onions in them & some of my mushrooms where raw & not cooked. There was a lot to choose from on the menu, so next time I’m in the area I definitely wanna try a different dish out. Busy Sunday so the 10 min wait wasn’t so bad.

Have you ever eaten something for the very first time and exclaimed, «WHEREHAVEYOUBEENALLMYLIFE…» ‘And all it took was an added addition to a classic sandwich. Cream Cheese: Well, hello there Mr. BLT? BLT: Ms. Cream, nice to meet you… ‘Let’s DOIT! Photo — ‘And just like that, magic was made. Mimi’s makes a very solid BLTA.(«A» for avocado) I’ve been wanting to reacquaint Ms. Cream and Mr. BLT for sometime now. I made a request of a reintroduction of the couple to my waitress, Eulid, «And can I have some cream cheese added to the BLTA. Now, generally, I am NOT that guy that makes some kind of special request/off-menu order on a regular basis BUT for this BLTA-C, I think I can make an exception. The service was great, from the young female hostess, to my waitress. Now, the table was a tad sticky.(Translation: Kinda nasty) The food, very good. So, being that it was ALOHA Friday, I thought what better drink to compliment my sandwich than a mimosa… ‘And not just any mimosa, a Mango Mimosa.(Oh, very fancy… I’ll take it!) Photo — «Thank you, mam!» I know, I know, mimosa is generally a breakfast/brunch libation but hey, that sandwich comes w/bacon.(Shrugs) The Mango Mimosa was a refreshing change to the standard orange juice. Everything was very good with the exception of the fries. I was kinda expecting steak fries but what I got was more like shoestring fries… Don’t get me wrong, they tasted fine but picking them up was like grabbing a handful of shredded cheese.(Just say I mustn’t have thought they were that terrible because it didn’t stop me from finishing them off.) Photo — Mimi’s is stepping up their game and it shows. I remember when I used to organize early morning team meetings in the OC and whenever I thought of Mimi’s, I’d nod off mid-sent… «Zzzz…» However, after this most recent visit, I just may have to rethink that«Borrrrrr’ing,» image I have of the family style, chain restaurant. Shortly after being seated, their standard warm basket of bread & butter was brought to the table. However, a few of the breadsticks were a bit hard & chewy, reminded me of a doughy, «Now & Later.» Now, the raisin bread on the other hand was pretty damn tasty.(So, it was a push-pull when it came to the complimentary bread basket.) Photo — Next out was the Mango Mimosa which Eulid mixed right @ the table which was unexpected. I figured it was going to be business as usual, «Here’s your drink.»(Plop the glass down) ‘And off she goes. Nope, I was wrong… ‘And sometimes being wrong isn’t so bad. Photo — Eulid, walked over to the table w/a glass of mango juice in one hand and what I can only describe as fun-sized, bottle of Monet Champagne in the other. After confirming that I ordered the Mango Mimosa, Eulic proceeded to mix the adult, morning beverage. «Cool.» ‘For a brief moment, I felt like I was having brunch @ the Hotel Laguna in Laguna Beach… ‘Did I mention that Mimi’s is stepping up her game?(‘And it looks like a bit of high stepping @ that.) ‘Nicely done. Someone in their corporate office did their homework. I really hope that it’s received well by the public because I’m kinda digg’n it. It was an early Friday afternoon, the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, seemed that they had a good amount of us seated in the back room.(They didn’t want the riff-raff mingling with their upstanding clientele.) I’m joking… ‘After all it’s Fairfield, what else is there? When the sandwich made its way to the table it was a sight to behold.(Cue epic, clouds parting, trumpets blaring, dramatic music) My waitress asked why was I crying… I could barely get the words out, «I’m, I’m, so happy.»(As I tried to hold it together.) Photo — This is one of those things that just makes my soul smile… ‘Okay, well this and oral sex. I’m kidding, a great pizza sandwich also works. When I requested cream cheese, Mimi’s doesn’t mess around. I knew I was going to get cream cheese but, «DAMN!» The descriptive word, «slab» comes to mind, along with twin mattress. — «Excuse me sir, would you like a little BLT to go along with your cream cheese man’wich?» Photo — Overall, very good… ‘My biggest gripe being the sticky/nasty table which as a whole wasn’t a deal breaker. If you’ve never tried a BLT w/cream cheese, highly recommended and if you’re going to try one, Mimi’s is a great place to do it. — Big Aloha! Food: 4–(Chewy, hard complimentary bead sticks) Ambiance: 3(Sticky table top) Service: 4 Value: 4

Used to come here all the time just for the buttermilk spice muffins which are awesome. Stopped in this morning because the first place we stopped was too crowded, but wow what a treat. No waiting, great service and a unique selection of breakfasts. I tried the turkey, bacon and mozzarella crepes with roasted potatoes. Very generous portions, plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. Can’t wait to go back and try something else.

Bugs in food = NASTY!!! Last time my co-workers and I were here the service was horrible so we stop going there for awhile. Tonight we thought hey lets give them another shot… BIG Mistake!!! So we order our food and the waitress was nice but when our food came out within a few bites of our food I spot a pincher bug in my food and I felt like throwing my knife at the at the Fat lady that calls herself the Manager who looks as bad as the food!!! Its safe to say I will never eat here again and recommend you dont either! I will make some calls tomorrow to see if i can get their place inspected for cleanliness or just have them shut down because no one should have anything like that in there food!

Been here a couple times for business dinners and have been happy with the food and service. Selection can be a bit more diverse compared to say Applebee’s but I appreciate the venue and European feel. Personally have had the beef bouglinon, salmon and sandwiches

They seem to change the menu a lot here, and I do not like the fact that they no longer serve the red bean and andouille sausage soup, but the rest of their food is satisfactory and the ambience is cool. The coffee is great, for me that’s a big plus. And with any bowl of soup that you purchase, you get a basket of raisin carrot bread and regular bread rolls.(They’ll give you more if you ask for it). Don’t forget to sign up for their e-Club. They frequently send coupons for buy-one-get-one free entrees with the purchase of two beverages. This comes in handy for some of the overpriced menu items.

Wow I never thought I see this day come. But I have scratched this restaurant off my list. I guess my clue should have been all the new faces in the staff but I always think change can be good in a restaurant… WRONG! Our hostess was sweet but had NO proper server etiquette! She gave us our bill and announced it to the entire restaurant!!! Like«you owe $ 52.65!» Girl are you serious? Lol Ok beside her ratchet ways the food was awful and terrible menu options; everything on the menu was«out», one family actually left!!! Towards the middle of our meal she comes out and says«oh we found some bread for the table.» Where did it run off to? Your purse? Like where do they do this at. Highly unprofessional. I honestly expected more out of Mimi’s! Especially for my parents anniversary! Thanks for nothing, sad end to what once was a great place.

Mimi’s Café has moved up in the world. They is getting fancy with their new French inspired menu. Some with words I cannot even pronounce. It’s more like *point at the meal* when the waitress ask what would you like. New Menu = Cost more! Not so happy! Previously, I’ve only eaten at Mimi’s for breakfast. The mixed berry stuffed Pan Perdu. It was French toast stuffed with cream cheese and orange marmalade with fruit topping. Crazy good. Now they have eggs Benedict made in different ways. Being vegan my only option here is the oatmeal for breakfast and the salad(minus cheese & meat) for lunch/dinner. When dinning with family. They tried a variety of dinner options and what I noticed and what they briefly told me is avoid the steak option. Is not a lot of food for the price you are getting. The side of veggies was lacking in flavor. Definitely try Coq au Vin-Chicken braised in red wine, mushrooms and pearl onions, served on creamy mashed potatoes with petite pois(peas) if you like chicken. Great price and I was told it was excellent. Looking for something spicy? Get the Saint-Malo Pasta — Mussels and fresh linguine topped with a spicy pomodoro sauce. Served with garlic French baguette croutons. This is definitely get you sweating and asking for water. Mimi’s is a great place to meet up with friends and family but on the flip side its not food friendly for my dietary restrictions but then again I don’t think French and the«V» word exist. Maybe in the near future…(a girl can dream)!!

Even with the revamped menu, the food at Mimi’s Café is still mediocre. When we got there for a weekend dinner, the hostess was very welcoming and we only had to wait around 10min before being seated. However, the service for the rest of the night went downhill from there. The drinks took forever to arrive, the silverware was dirty, and the bread basket didn’t arrive until well after the appetizers had been served. The new menu has a lot more French-inspired dishes such as coq au vin, bouillabaisse, and brioche croque madames. However, it does seem very limited as there were not many dinner entrée choices. Also, all the entrée options except for a croissant sandwich included meat/seafood, so it wasn’t very vegetarian-friendly either. I ordered their signature bouillabaisse, but the broth wasn’t very flavorful and the toasted baguette croutons were no longer crunchy by the time they arrived at our table since they had both been soaking in the dish. My mom had the coq au vin, and after cutting into it you could already see how dry the chicken was. The sauce was also on the saltier end. The best thing we had would probably be the crispy artichoke frites which came with a nice garlic lemon aioli and the usual creamy cup of corn chowder soup, which was perfect for a cold night.

Party of 5 + baby after church, a bit of a wait but not too bad. Customer service was good, the server helped suggest menu items for the indecisive members, got a highchair/crayons for the boy, and had two breadbaskets ready. Is it me or did the menu shrink down? All requests accomodated(lemon on the side and extra honey for hot tea, a cup of water without ice for the baby, add shrimp to the pasta dish, etc.) except she forgot to bring out the tomato basil soup for one of us. The appetizer trio was good, with petite potatoes(similar to loaded potato skins), breaded fried artichokes, and stuffed mushrooms. I had the tomato basil spaghettini(pretty much a pasta pomodoro usually made with angelhair) with shrimp which was light(just olive oil and garlic). Mimi’s are pretty good wherever I’ve been. This one was decent. P. S. Re: sign — sorry Mimi’s, I won’t be celebrating Bastille Day with you.
