Something wonderful & full of flavor is always on their menu! Love their cheese… which you can also purchase for at-home! Our dinner was 1 of the best in Fargo and we’re «foodies». Also enjoy their lunch menu… the pasties are in my opinion a gourmet comfort food! Homemade pickled veggies are also a lovely pair to any dish! Thoroughly loved their cuisine!

Luna is a great little place to go for great wine and food. Although the facilities are small and open, the unique, often changing dishes, are a fabulous way to enjoy an evening. I would highly recommend Luna.

I had my first Luna dinner last night and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious everyone’s meal was. Furthermore, we had a great waiter with great service. Popovers– yum. Cheese plate — a must. Beet salad– awesome. Butter lettuce salad– awesome. The Pinot Noir by the glass was perfect. I was nervous about trying the duck, as it can be a risky choice. But it was fabulous — served with a beet purée and a smoked carrot salad and every bite was divine. We topped off the meal with a white espresso cookie dough ice cream — we all loved it! Portions were small yet just right. We left fulfilled but not stuffed. We will be back!

All I can say, is WOW! I am completely blown away and surprised at how good Luna is! Let’s begin with the atmosphere. Walking up, one thinks that it’s just another coffee shop and could walk past it and not even know what lies inside. You would be vastly mistaken and miss out on a lovely and quaint dining establishment of you drove past this place! Comfy tables of 2 or 4 are arranged throughout the restaurant; on both sides of the tempting cheese and meat display(Yum)! Now, to the food! Luna offers an original and ever changing menu, so you’re always in store for something different. Tonight we started with the cheese tray and pop overs. Amazing for both! Three types of cheese, two breads, nuts, and fruit fill out this delicious tray. The pop overs were perfect – crisp and crunchy on the outside; and fluffy and chewy on the inside. We both had the braised beef lasagna for the main dish. Can not go wrong with that choice! Tender and juicy beef, perfectly cooked noodles, and tasty full flavor a cheese make this dish a must have(plus there’s not too much sauce, so the other ingredients don’t get lost)! For desert we had the milk & cookies – a chocolate chip cookie bowl filled with a milk-like sorbet sort of concoction. Hard to explain, but easy to eat! We will definitely be back for more! This is a hidden gem of Fargo… the type where you want to tell everyone about it so it continues to do well, but at the same want to covet it all for yourself. Ah the delectable culinary sin that is Luna. Show me the way!

This is my hands down favorite restaurant in Fargo. Whenever I have someone visit from out of town I take them here. The food is always fresh, local, and creative. Excellent cheese selection. Everything is always delicious.

Popovers — OMFG. Wow. Wine Selection — Um, hell yeah! Not to sound like a snob, but I just moved back to Fargo from Northern CA, so I’m used to getting good wine almost everywhere… even bodegas! Ha! Anyway, Luna’s wine selection was excellent. Cheese Plate — Damn good. Bibimbap — Yeah, this pretty much blew me away.

I came here a while ago. The place is a small restaurant with a small menu. They serve some great wine and cheese out of a deli counter, too. A friend of mine recommended them as a place to get some good cheeses. Boy, was he right! The service was top notch at the counter. We were offered tastes of the different cheeses — and all were good. The person helping us really knew her cheese, too. She was able to recommend different cheeses for the dish we were making and describe their flavors for us very well. We ordered a large amount of cheese and were surprised that the high-end cheese here was not expensive in the least. The girl helping us was able to get nice, thin slices out of the cheese as well, so we didn’t have to deal with that at home. While we waited for the cheese, we ordered some coffee. Also good here. I will have to try the place for dinner.

Loooove their happy hour cheese plate. 8 $ and a great snack with a glass of wine! Three kinds of cheeses, breads, olives, grapes and nuts.

This is a great place to dine. We stopped for lunch and left saying we would definitely be back. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. We returned for dinner the other night and found it equally as enjoyable. The only thing that prevents me from giving this a five star is their complete unwillingness to allow for substitutions. I’m lactose intolerant and after being advised the side that came with my meal had dairy I requested the chef«surprise me with any dairy free substitute». I was told«no substitutes» and they would prepare my meal without the side that contained dairy, but if I wanted anything besides the meat, I would need to pay extra for a side. I did and the squash was excellent. The portions are small, which is fine, but really? Receive your meal without the sides that contained dairy and pay extra for a dairy free side? We eat out a lot and I have never been denied a substitute due to my dietary restrictions. We will probably return, but I will be better about checking the menu first to make sure there is a non dairy choice for me. This particular evening there were no options for me other than paying full price for a partial meal and paying extra to round it out with a side.

This is definitely the best place in town to eat. It’s all about quality, not quantity. So if you are expecting to walk out feeling engorged — you need to go to one of those chain restaurants that serve larger-than-needed portions. The menu changes frequently — we are there at least weekly, sometimes twice a week — and there is always something new on the menu. I can’t list all the wonderful entrees we’ve had, but I have to say the scallops with succotash I had the other evening was probably the best scallops I’ve ever had. I’ve had the tomatoes with burrata cheese every time we’ve been there lately, because I know it will disappear off the menu when fresh tomatoes are out of season. That salad is extremely tasty. We seek out good local restaurants whenever we travel, and this one competes with the best.

Amazing meat and cheese selection. Great service, with hearty samples and helpful recommendations. We went in to buy an assortment of meat, cheese, and bread to bring home and did not leave disappointed. We will definitely be coming back to try dinner! And would definitely recommend for an ala carte cheese selection.

Went back for restaurant week, and it has just gotten better. The dishes were still meticulously made(I had a mushroom salad with a sherry vinegar dressing and a goat-cheese schmear, a savory bread putting with fried chives, and«cookies and milk,» which was really a miniature molten chocolate cake hollowed out and filled with ice milk). The table shared a cheese plate(with cheeses you normally can’t get around here) and a pickle plate that has really gotten grander over time. The pickle plate had spicy carrots, gherkins, a small variety of olives, and very pucker-y shaved pickled rhubarb. You. Can’t. Get. This. Anywhere. Else. My mushroom salad, savory bread pudding, cake-ice milk combo was $ 15, and I was able to have it with a lemongrass-infused beer that was made by local brewery Junkyard and a mild IPA by the Fargo brewing company. It’s just getting better.

Although seemingly in a strip mall, this place was certainly worth the stop. Their menu changes everyday, so it’s best to check online to find out what special offerings they have for the day. I went with my girlfriend and tried their cheese plate, which had a wonderful offering of three different cheeses, crackers(we ordered it to be gluten free), and fruit. Next we followed up with an Artic Char Pastrami salad which had the perfect balance of salt and sweet. Lastly, we got the last scoop of Black Garlic and Chocolate Chunk ice cream they had, and a scoop of Blood Orange sorbet. Secretly, I got the latter in case I did not like the former, but they both were incredibly good! Flavors complimented well and was truly a great experience in my mouth. Even with getting a wonderful bottle of wine, the bill was not entirely expensive and made for a good Monday evening. There was a few growing pains here and there, but I’m confident they will be able to iron those out. I’m looking forward to going back.

I really wanted to love this place and was so excited to try it out because I thought the idea of a coffee/cheese shop-turned restaurant was great. However, I walked away extremely disappointed, and was even laughing over how much of a bummer it was. I came here about a month ago with Jeffrey M., who’s already written a detailed Unilocal review, and so I’ll add some additional highlights to my experience and try not to be too redundant on what’s already been said. If Unilocal gave half stars, I’d give this a 2.5. PROS: –Menu: The menu is versatile and is reasonable in price for a tapas style of sit-down restaurant. It looks like it’s updated frequently based off of available and local ingredients. –The entrees that we ordered: fried spring chicken and a ham & potato. Both were delicious and I’d happily eat them again! The chicken was refreshingly light and crispy, and came with slices of pecorino cheese and a lemon sauce that was fantastic. The ham & potato entrée reminded me kind of a cheesy layered hash brown, and was the best kind of comfort food that you could imagine. –Atmosphere: I thought the owners did a great job with transforming the café into a nice evening restaurant. I noticed that each table was covered in a white tablecloth and a candle, which added a cozy and intimate touch. –Women’s Bathroom Art: Okay before you think this is weird to list as a pro, the women’s bathroom has this portrait of a dog(poodle maybe?) that is fuzzy and 3D! Where does one even find art like that?! I just thought that was hilariously awesome. CONS: –Service: Our server was nice, but extremely unprepared and uninformed about the menu. When I say uninformed, I don’t mean not knowing what some of the more unique ingredients that were listed were, such as ramp greens. What I mean by this and what was somewhat awkward is that when we asked for recommendations on what to order, she admitted that she had only tried 1 – 2 things on the menu and what she did offer as recommendations were 5 of the most expensive items because«they sounded good.» While I understand that most of the more enjoyable items may come at a higher price point, the fact that she only highlighted these seemed a bit unsettling to me. Later, my opinion of the service went even more downhill when the credit card machine was broken. Instead of informing us of the situation, she wrote down our credit card number on a scrap piece of paper without asking the card owner’s permission first to see if this was okay, which seemed unprofessional and tacky. -«Bread Plate with Good Butter»: We ordered this because I’m a huge carb-lover, but the few pieces of bread that we received were cold, hard, and extremely thin. Like paper thin. The butter was hard and cold as well, and I failed to see what made it «good» in quality. By 5:15 pm(doors open for dinner began at 5), they ran out of this item and so I’m guessing that they were running low on bread when we ordered and decided to skimp on this, instead of just letting us know this. Considering one of their specialties is their freshly baked bread, I was really disappointed by this. –Side of Butternut Squash: Meh. — Dessert: Our server raved about the banana cream pie, calling it «crack pie,» even though she had never tried it herself. We ordered this and what we were presented with was the smallest slice of pie that you could imagine. I took a picture of this, but it was on a small plate, and so it looks a lot bigger in the picture than it appeared in real life. The maximum width of the slice was maybe an inch. In terms of taste, the custard filling was extremely rubbery and unappetizing from being overcooked and the crust was so hard that I had to use both hands to stab it with a knife to cut through. I took one bite and then left the rest. Overall, the entrees were great and it’s a nice place to go if you’re in the mood for a sit-down meal but don’t necessarily want to pay for the higher price of some of the other dining establishments in the FM area. I understand that there’s going to be some growing pains and that a frequently updated menu may be especially challenging for the servers to keep up with. Nevertheless, due to the unprepared service and the dessert/bread starter, my overall experience was awkwardly weird and just really disappointing. It’s very possible that I came in with too high of expectations and I’m sure that they worked out some of the kinks by now, and so I’d recommend this place if you’ve been wanting to try a new restaurant out. However, I personally don’t plan on coming back.

Luna was a nice surprise! It was in a nice neighborhood shopping center setting a great experience of quality food with a nice variety of choices and the right portions with a focus on quality of food. The service was quick and helpful as I had some top cheeses and wine as appetizer that led into the best green salad in Fargo area. Again focus was quality lettuce and dressing and mix which was refreshing like paper thin slices of radishes and carrots just right for the salad. The beef lasagna and the fish of the day was just delicious. This is the place to try tasting you will want everyone’s dish! The chocolate in the desert was the best deep flavor! This is a winner.

With the unique menu offerings, an intriguing concept of coffee shop turned restaurant, and stellar ratings in recent reviews, I was looking forward to a wonderful dining experience at Luna with Stacy K. Unfortunately, that’s not what I met here. We first ordered drinks. The beer here is well-priced and has an appropriate variety. For the meal, we started with the bread plate appetizer. For $ 3, we received eight very small, very thin slices of two types of bread(four slices each). Although the breads were unique, this is an item that is offered for free at just about any other restaurant. We did notice that the bread plate was«sold out» by 5:15. Maybe this explains why our slices were so small? Either way, running out of a staple appetizer 45 minutes into dinner service indicates less than adequate supply management. The entrees were my favorite part of the meal. We split two entrees: the ham and potatoes and the fried chicken. Both tasted amazing and I highly recommend both. Serving sizes aren’t large, though, so make sure to order a side! We went with the spaghetti squash. Not impressed, but not disappointed either. Looking at the dessert menu, we decided on the banana cream pie, declared to be «crack pie» by our waitress. She admitted, however, that she had not tried it herself. It’s worth mentioning that she had not tried almost anything on the menu, even though it had changed minimally for the week. This area of service could be easily improved with tasting sessions for staff. Anyways, the pie came — an incredibly small piece. This cream pie was more of a thick, overcooked custard and the crust nearly impossible to cut apart. I did not find it very appetizing. When it was time to pay for the meal, I gave the waitress my credit card. She returned a short time later explaining that they were having computer issues and, without asking my approval first, had written down my credit card number on a sheet of scratch paper and asked me to sign this hand-written«receipt». Although I’m sure this was done innocently, it screamed fraud in my head and I chose to instead pay with cash. My dinner guest summed it up pretty well at the end of the meal saying, «I’m just thinking about what I’m going to want to eat later.» Although the entrees were tasty and all menu items were priced favorably, the service was lacking, the restaurant seemed to be proud of its negligent supply stock, and the appetizer and dessert were less than pleasing, leaving my rating at three stars.

Outstanding food. Topnotch service. We were there tonight and found that this new dinner restaurant – until recently this longtime business was just Luna Coffee – has quickly become so popular we had to wait for a table and learned several items were already sold out(at about 7:30 pm). The owner himself came to the table to apologize about the sold-out items and tell us what was remaining. Everything we had was delicious!

I have had dinner here twice since they have opened for dinner. Both meals were incredible! Delicious takes on classic american food. The beer and wine selection has something for any palate. Visiting the cheese and deli meat case, curated by Peter, will make you the hero of any party. Amazing addition to the neighborhood.
