My family calls this place«Cheap Chinese» and that pretty much sums it up. Nothing here is spectacular but it gets the job done for a cheap family dinner. The deal is 3 dishes for $ 22.50 and you can get rice on the side for $ 1.50. We get the salt and pepper pork spare ribs, green beans, chives and fried bean curd, salt and pepper prawns. Honestly you could probably order anything from their picture menu and it will be decent. It will be oily and greasy, you have been warned. No wait most of the time and service is slow. We come when no one wants to cook and to watch the game on their two small TVs.

Good food and a very nice owner. DONOTUSETHEEAT24APP! They cancelled my order with the restaurant after charging my credit card. I arrived the restaurant to find out my order was cancelled by a lady who called them. Painful would be an understatement. The owner made up three entrees and charged my $ 20.

So I came back and to add to the previous review, some dishes just aren’t that great. The salt and pepper spareribs could use more salt and pepper and it lacked in green onion garnish most places have. although they had diced jalapeño. The pork belly and taro over preserved veggies was alright. The sauce was tasty but the pork belly was overcooked. The highlight was Xo beef which was surprisingly tender and with a bit of heat.

Awesome, cheap Chinese food. My husband and I love getting take out here, especially when we crave Chinese food. The food is really authentic and is always consistent.

In the debatable eloquent words of the Snoop D.O. double Jizzle, «With my mind on my money, and my money on my mind.» When I have to feed a group and want bang for my unfortunately hard earned money, I thank New Yong for being there. Not great Chinese food but decent enough to serve its purpose. Its purpose: Decent executed food, at a very decent price, with very, very decent portions. In other words value city, bang for your buck time. I can feed 4 – 6 peeps for around $ 23, and just multiply if I have to. The service here is actually quite good. They are fast, efficient and can handle questions regarding the menu. But I think I use this place more for take-out. But check this place out on a Saturday night and it will be packed. And it is totally hidden, so the people who come here… know. The menu is mostly Cantonese but does offer some things Sichuan. I wouldn’t trust the Sichuan dishes, since I can go to places that specialize in it. The menu is mostly the pick 3 dishes for $ 22.50. Lots of dishes, like 82 to choose from. 3 dishes here can easily feed 4 – 6 meals. Which is why I am a fan of the value here. Salt and Pepper Flounder — Really good but it does have bones. They do fry well here. Steamed Chicken w/Ginger & Green Onion. Moist and tender. Simple preparation. Beef w/Bittermelon– Beef a little chewy but taste better as leftovers. Decent black bean sauce. Chinese greens w/Fillet of Rock Cod– Very simple, very good. Fish is plentiful. Eggplant w/Garlic Sauce –Total miss for me, sauce was sweet, like sweet n sour. Wok fried Shredded Beef w/Green Onion– Great flavor, but again beef just strips of beef round, so lean and a bit chewy. Shrimp Fried Rice — Not bad. At least they use a respectable size shrimp. So when feeding those larger groups, this place rises in my list of options. And my wallet usually gives me a fist bump when choosing so.

Affordable Chinese restaurant in the Irvington District of Fremont that offers a variety of northern Chinese and Cantonese dishes. My family and I were looking for a place to eat after running some late errands in the South Fremont area last night. After checking Unilocal,we decided on New Yong Kang since most of the reviews were positive and it was close to where we were at. We arrived at around 7:20pm and found the restaurant to be completely packed. On top of those who were dining in, there were several people waiting on their takeout orders. The restaurant looked decently clean. There were about 20 tables in the main dining room and an additional 5 or 6 tables in the side room. Large Chinese paintings and a couple flat screen TVs were pretty much the only decorations I saw. We were seated at around 7:30pm. Menus, tea, and complementary soup were brought to us by one of the servers. It didn’t take us long to order the following dishes off of their 3 for $ 22.50 menu: — Shrimp Fried Rice — Spicy String Beans with Shredded Pork — Salt and Pepper Pork Chops — Steamed Chicken with Ginger and Scallion Sauce — Deluxe Beef Stew Clay Pot — Salt and Pepper Rock Cod Shrimp fried rice was very good. It wasn’t oily and the rice didn’t clump together. Spicy string beans with shredded pork was decent. String beans were fresh and weren’t overcooked. Not much pork was seen in the dish though. Salt and pepper pork chops were above average. Pork chops were meaty and they were fried nicely. Personally, I’d like them to be a bit spicier. Also, the dish was loaded with MSG. The steamed chicken was done right by Cantonese standard. It was tender with a little bit of darkish blood secreted from the bones. It was very good with the ginger and scallion sauce. The deluxe beef stew clay pot was above average. It was tender and flavorful. The potato chunks they used absorbed all the beef essence and were good in their own right. The salt and pepper rock cod was fried to perfection. Like the salt and pepper pork chops, I’d prefer them to be spicier. The portions were HUGE! The six dishes we ordered could easily feed six people. We ended up finishing only half the food. Service was friendly there. A few words of Cantonese or Mandarin will certainly aid your dining experience there. The food at this place scored a solid 3.5 stars in my book(bumping it up to 4 stars because of the great value and friendly service). If you want solid Chinese food that’s affordable, keep this place in mind. BONUSMATERIAL: — Cash only. — They charge $ 1.30 per person for steamed rice. — There are 80+ items in their 3 for $ 22.50 menu.

Our current go to place for Chinese good since Golden Bay shut down unexpectedly awhile back. We eat here at least once a month and currently came to celebrate Chinese New Year. They have the typical 3 items for about $ 22 and their selection is pretty large. Came her early at 5pm cause it tends to get packed by 6pm. This time we went with the salt and pepper fish, honey orange spare ribs, Chinese broccoli with bacon, meatloaf with salted fish, fish with bean curd clay pot, and the chicken and taro clay pot. All of these dishes were tasty except the spare ribs(too chewy and not cooked well so I don’t recommend). Everything came out super quick and hot in temperature. Their portions are pretty large as well. Definitely want to try some more of the seafood items next time!

We have been eating here for years. The taste of the food always taste the same. This way if you like that dish you won’t be disappointed. We always find it very reasonable to eat here. However, you always have to remember that it is CASHONLY. They do have a ATM machine if you forget but, they do charge you for using the machine. One more thing to add, their menu never changes. However, they do add a few new dishes to try if they should add to the regular menu. All I can say is enjoy! We have over several years. The only reason we would stop coming here is if they close their doors. I don’t think this is going to happen anytime soon. Now that we know the owners they have assured us that this will never happen.

Excellent green beans, and Beijing pork ribs. Only $ 7 per dish for dinner! Very decent portions. Service very fast and pragmatic. Served me so fast it felt like the food arrived before I finished ordering. Would definitely come back!

Sad how this place is putting so much filler in their dishes these days. My normal favorite Do Ban Yu Pian dish– This can seriously be called«Sautéed sliced onion and carrots with some fish». Absolutely loaded with onions. I still like this place… but sheesh, basa filet is not that expensive.

I came here for dinner since a family member had recommended it. Dishes are very affordable 3 for $ 21. Chinese family style dining, cash only !!! They have plenty of tables inside enough to seat at least 100 customers. There were many orders for pick up that were sitting on the counter as well. The 3 for $ 21 offer includes seafood, meat, veggies, noodles, and fried rice dishes. We ordered the spicy sea cod fillet with water chestnuts, four spice green beans, and xo beef. The fried green beans came out first and they were very fresh and crispy. The spicy sea cod filler had alot of sauce but not that much flavor. The xo beef took a bit longer to come out about 15 min. It had a decent amount of beef but i didnt like the flavor of this dish as much. The restaurant is not very clean which is why I’m giving if 3 stars. Dirty restrooms always give me the heebie jeebies.

I was trying to narrow down on some of the Chinese food options in Fremont and decided to give this place a try. It is definitely a hole in the wall, it’s located in this nondescript strip mall next to a Red Wings shoe store. We arrived at 4pm, and there were maybe 3 – 4 other tables occupied, the place was pretty empty. The menu has a lot of options, and it’s is more typical Cantonese fare. Three dishes for $ 21, $ 1.50 for rice, and CASHONLY. We ordered the salt and pepper squid, fish filet with bean curd, eggplant w/pork, and egg yolk pumpkin. In terms of taste and portion, this place hits both on the mark. The portions are huge, and taste wise, the pumpkin dish seemed a bit more greasy than it should be even though it was a fried dish. Only complaint, after our first dish(eggplant) came to the table it was about 15min before the next dish arrived. and then probably another 15−20min before the last two dishes came out. Twice, I had to ask our server to check on our food. Tables that came in after us, were seated, ordered and had their food delivered to their table before we even got our food. One thing, the phone was constantly ringing, and the server told us they had a lot of carry out orders to cook for. That’s a negative mark in my book, because you need to serve the folks that are dining in your restaurant, so that’s a minus one star. If I was in the area again I would like ot go back and try some of the other items on the menu, Just hope service is better. PRO: * Generous portions * Great taste/good flavor * Good price * Restroom is not terribly disgusting CON: * Take out orders get priority * Food took a while to arrive * Cash only * Service could be better

Do not eat here. We ordered take-out, and there was a clothespin in our food. We called, and they had us bring the food back to get reimbursed, and the lady at the front said: «Here, I’ll give you $ 10, even though it was 8 something.» Horrible customer service. Common sense would have told the cook to throw out the food and make a new batch, or at least take out the clothespin -.-

Short Story: A rather good and cheap place for Chinese food in Fremont. Long Story: We have ordered from this place a few times over the past year and it’s been alright. The place is always busy when we have gone. We have ordered off their three dish menu for like $ 20. The dishes are of okay quality. Typical Chinese food, meaning most dishes are stir fried but with lots of oil. They do taste good though. We’ve ate there once and the food does come out quick. The dishes are clean for the most part too. I can’t remember the quality of the restrooms so it must not have been really good or bad. Verdict: I’ll come back… for the food when I need to.

Our new favorite. Clean, accessible, easy parking, accomidating staff. Very affordable. Loved the sweet and sour fish and chicken clay pot. Each dish looked like the pictures. Generous portions Noticed food preparer carefully scrubbing up to his elbows prior to working with the food.

Chinese cuisine is so popular that it’s difficult to find authentic, affordable food. New Yong Kang is both. Authentic Cantonese cuisine and the prices are more than affordable. For about $ 20, you can pick three plates(decent portions) from their extensive menu. Honestly, 3 plates is more than enough for 4 people, but we usually order one plate per person as a rule of thumb. We can always pack leftovers to go! Once you’re seated, you’re immediately served with complimentary house soup. The service is very quick paced. You would have to flag somebody down for anything, especially on a busy day. But it’s not like the workers are just sitting around doing nothing… they’re running around and working hard to deliver food, take orders, and fulfill any other requests the customers may have. This is a quick sit down and eat type of place… not really one where you’d hang out and chat. Their salt and pepper options are delicious! My faves are the rock cod and pork chops. Crispy, salty, peppery goodness! All other dishes we’ve ordered are also on point. At the end of a weekday lunch rush, one of the chefs actually came out and asked each remaining table how the food was. That type of dedication, even at a small, humble Chinese restaurant, is one of the reasons they’ve been so consistently good. Great neighborhood restaurant. I’ll definitely be back!

I really like this place. It’s no frills, constantly busy, and of course the one great draw is that any broke ass can afford to eat here. I think it was 3 plates for ~$ 20, and they came greasy, gooey and all so savory that I salivated just reading the multi-page menu. I think it’s beyond reasonable pricing, especially when you factor in the free soup they serve at the beginning. So to serve 5 people, it was only ~$ 40! It may not be a Michelin star affair, but I’d sure like to have an affair with Michelin if it meant all foods could be this inexpensive to eat. Ok maybe not, but your dollar here goes longer than anywhere else I’ve seen.
