I hate lowering reviews, I really do but after this last experience I must. The honey was craving food from here over the weekend, so we placed a large order $ 70+. Everything was great, we loved the walnut shrimp, garlic chicken, spicy eggplant, and egg rolls. Those items were perfect! Everything went wrong with the tofu salad. If you haven’t ordered it, it’s basically a ton of lettuce with wonton strips and fried tofu. Since it is so huge, I generally make two + meals out of it. I ate it on Sunday twice, and then again on Monday. When I was putting the salad from the container to a bowl, I noticed that some of the tofu was molded. I almost barfed right there, since I had ate it for 2 days. That shit didn’t suddenly mold overnite in my fridge. I just didn’t notice, and since I used the peanut sauce on it, simply didn’t notice because I poured that shit directly on the tofu each time I made a bowl of it. Normally this wouldn’t be a huge deal, but I’m immunocompromised and had injected my meds the day before eating this moldy food, so I got very ill, very quickly. Only getting 2 stars because the other food was good and the service was good. I’ll be calling them tomorrow and thanking them for the molded tofu.

I was not impressed with this place. Over rated and over priced. The atmosphere gives you the impression it’s going to be good but not so. First we ordered potstickers and unfortunately they took a while to come out and we’re just ok. The sauce they served with it was nothing but vinegar. Not the usual pot sticker sauce I am use to. We also ordered orange chicken with chow mein and fried rice. Rice was bland. Chow mein was over cooked and way too crispy. Very small portion for what I am paying and use to. And the chicken way to tough. It was my first and last time I will visit this place. Just because it’s in a nice area looks are deceiving.

Should an american have«cravings» for Chinese food, China Bistro would hit the spot perfectly because the Americanized Chinese food here has quality, is generously portioned, taste good and serves all the menu items that americans know as being Chinese. Sadly it wont be the place to remedy such cravings for an «authentic» or foreign asian like myself who has savored some real Chinese food. To put it simply, China bistro is the place to come for americanized Chinese food, and not authentic Chinese food. Key americanized Chinese food items to order from here: $ 8.95 Shrimp fried rice, $ 10.95 orange chicken and $ 12.95 honey walnut shrimp. I was actually pleasantly surprise to experience its delicious food, and this is coming from someone who isn’t a big fan of americanized Chinese food to begin with. The reason I am a fan of the food from here is due to its quality. Both the orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp had more meat than flour, unlike other americanized Chinese restaurants where its in reverse. What truly caught me off guard was the shrimp fried rice, sure it isn’t hard to mess up fried rice, but China bistro gets it right with the nice aromatic«wok» char flavor, almost similar to the shrimp fried rice back at home in Malaysia. The taste of the orange chicken is nothing superior, its the same flour covered chicken pieces smothered in a sweet and sour orange sauce that I can get anywhere else. The notable feature is the meatiness of the orange chicken. The honey walnut shrimp however is worth mentioning, because it was lightly floured, and the shrimps were colossal. The honey taste was subtle, and the walnuts were generously complimenting the dish. Yes the price might be a dollar or two more expensive than a local cheaper competition, yet the quality and and portion saves the day. I didn’t dine in, so I can’t critique much of the service, but the takeout experience was certainly effortless. I adore the presentation of takeout, everything was packed in a nice Chinese paper box, like in most american sitcoms, when they eat Chinese food. Finding this restaurant might be a challenge as its bit hidden within an enclave of garden– yet its isn’t impossible to miss it. If you see Amir shish kebab and some cupcake shop you’re pretty close. Parking in the private lot can be challenging on a busy day, however there shouldn’t be an issue if rush hours are avoided, aka peak lunchtime and dinnertime or a public holiday.

I only ever get the egg rolls and salad, but they are by far the best egg rolls I’ve ever had. The dinner salad is nothing special but the dressing it comes with is to die for.

My partner and I have both gone vegetarian since our last visit, and decided to try the vegetarian orange chicken, and the Vegetarian Kung pow. The fake meat in both were disgusting, the meat in the orange chicken tasted like ground up chicken liver, and the meat in the Kung pow reminded me of canned dog food. We also ordered Egg Rolls which were still frozen in the center. I can handle bad fake meat, it comes with the territory of being vegetarian. The waitress asked if the food was OK when she noticed we hadn’t eaten any of our food. After we explained that we really didn’t like either dishes, the waitress asked if we needed a box and gave us our check. No efforts were made to either give us the option to order another dish, or at least a discount on the food we hadn’t eaten. We paid over $ 30 for food we couldn’t eat. I’m not sure if the owners have changed since our last visit, we’ve been regular customers since they opened. It was one of the worse visits both on food quality and customer service I’ve ever had at any restaurant. This restaurant used to have the best service of any in town.

I wasn’t a fan of this place. Twenty entire dollars for a lunch that made my stomach hurt. The food wasn’t terrible, because I liked my fortune cookie.

Here’s why I gave it 5 stars. Price is spot on, food is always on point, the people are nice and every time we call in an order for pick up(for my family of 5) they have it ready in less than 15 minutes. It is our go to spot for Chinese food.

One of Fresno’s very best in gourmet Chinese food. The service is excellent & the restaurant is very pleasant. China Bistro is also located in the Woodward Park area(Champlain & Perrin) and although the food is every bit as good, it is more of a take-out option in my opinion.

The pros would be the staff was very nice and the food was very hot even after doing take out. The cons would be it was lousy and bland Chinese food. I could have gotten better and less expensive food at Panda. The egg rolls were mushy and the meat they used in the dishes were gigantic and gross. It was awful. I have no idea what drugs folks were using who gave this joint more than 2 stars.

China Bistro is our favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is always fresh and is consistently good. The staff is VERY friendly and are have been very accommodating when I have had a large party for both lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the restaurant is always clean. When I do take-out, I usually call ahead and the food is ready when I get there and remains hot all the way back home. Highly recommend China Bistro!

Nice little hidden gem in Fresno! Love the won ton soup! The soup is full of veggies, broth is delicious and not very oily like most chinese places. The waitress was even nice enough to advise me to call in my order instead of placing an online order so they can make it fresh instead of having your order sit and wait for you.

Was really good, but the food is really bland now. The water also strange particles floating around inside of it.

WoW! A complete restaurant remodel. Great new look inside. It’s always been a neighborhood favorite. The food wait is sometimes off… Today we received our meal before the appetizer. All in all, good food and atmosphere with a hint of music in the background; doesn’t make for loud conversation. Although the old layout had the goofy IHOP type booth partitions which kept the conversations private, now it’s all open. The two ladies who had lunch across the room… I heard your whole conversation… Ok, back to the food. I’m a seafoodie so the cashew shrimp is my usual. The Mu Shu chicken is good as well as the Happy Family… if you’re feeling protein deficient. Ah! The child menu. Yes, they have chicken strips but, for goodness sake, the plate comes with broccoli… if you can get your child to eat it. Otherwise, it becomes tomorrow’s breakfast for your pet turtle. If you see the chefs & hosts eating the same food, then it must be good!

Decent food for your money. It’s Chinese food, lots of courses, and the patio looks cute.

This place has been constantly providing awesome service and food. The biggest factor has got to be the service though. They are very friendly and nice, swift and clear. Definitely recommended coming with a friend or two.

A tucked-away little gem of a restaurant with patio seating options that would have been perfect in the nice Autumn weather, but I was with«inside people», so we ate inside. The atmosphere was on the quiet and tasteful side; the service, pleasant. If I lived in the area, I could see becoming a regular here. Too bad, Fresno. but keep adding more good Asian places like this and you may nab me yet ;). Mongolian Beef: 5 stars. A very flavorful beef with green onions and a brown sauce. We ordered«mild» and it came to us with just a hint of heat — perfect. Sweet ‘n’ Sour Chicken: 4 stars. A good, basic SNSC which makes a very pretty presentation on the plate. «Spicy» Eggplant: 3 stars. Also ordered mild, and it was a nice way to round out all the meat in our meal. Honey Walnut Chicken: 5 stars. My only complaint is that it seemed slightly«downsized», but every bite was sweet ‘n’ crunchy pleasure. Mixed Vegetables: 4 stars. I think it came from the«healthier» section of the menu… just a nice assortment of cut veg that seemed very fresh, possibly steamed… Sesame Balls: 4 stars. You get six small, with a bit of red bean paste inside. So I have yet another reliable Chinese restaurant to add to my Fresno list. On the next visit I’m set to try the Lemon Chicken, one of the salads, and one of the curries. See you in ’14!

It was my first time to China Bistro. I enjoyed my experience. The waitresses were amazing. They knew exactly how to wait on myself without hovering. I ordered the orange chicken meal and it was the best orange chicken I’ve had so far.
