One of the few places to go in front Royal where all the patrons have all of their teeth. Great beer selection. Service has always been awesome. Try the pizzas with homemade dough the shrimp one is awesome.

Fantastic selection of beer — found a hard-to-find German favorite. However, the clientele seems to average mid-40s and older, which isn’t really my scene. Very nice & attentive wait staff/bartenders. Will definitely come back on nights I feel like being left alone.

Fun, unique, bar/restaurant, in the old downtown of Front Royal. Good food, good music, good crowd of locals and visitors. I was so glad to find such a cool place during my visit to town, that I went both nights!

I was looking for a dog-friendly restaurant and Lucky Star welcomed by four-legged friend(There’s a patio in the rear). The server was attentive to the dog(and the humans) and the menu was more extensive than I was expecting. While they had a lot of dinner entrees, we went causal and ordered the special burger of the month, along with a gyro. Both meals were great and they were served with generous side orders. All in all, it was an enjoyable meal after a long day of hiking along Skyline Drive.

The Lucky Star Lounge is a happening pub located in downtown Front Royal. The menu offers appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches & burgers, entrees, quesadillas, and desserts, as well as a nice variety of beer/wine/cocktails/martinis. The hubs and I came to check this place out for lunch, and we were able to choose any of the tables; I like how it was set up, as there was a long cushiony sofa lined up against the wall with ample amount of cushions, as well as 4-seater tables. We tried the Big Soft Pretzel(you can request the pretzel to be salted or unsalted(we opted for salted); it definitely came with a lot of salt, but you can just scrape off some; a side of their creamy homemade boursin cheese came, which reminded me of a light herby cream cheese; the soft pretzel was one of the best soft pretzels I’ve had, and the homemade boursin cheese was such a yummy complement!); Stuffed Mushroom Caps(these were my absolute favorite; the mushroom caps were cooked perfectly and stuffed with bacon, onions, and cheddar — these were sooo delicious and came out piping hot; I could have ordered 100 more of these babies: D Bacon & Cheesy Potato Wedges(these were actually just seasoned french fries, rather than wedges; a little more on the wet side, these were topped with bacon, nacho-esque cheese, sliced scallions, and a dollop of sour cream; these were forgettable); Pig in a Blanket(the kielbasa is specially made for Lucky Star by a local butcher shop, the ‘Two Fat Butchers’ — these slices were wrapped in a puffy pastry and baked, and came with a very spicy mustard; we both were not fans of these, as the flavor of the kielbasa was a little weird; I did enjoy the hot mustard, though, and it was good dipping the french fries in!); a side of the Mac n’ Cheese(this was pretty okay, but a little less creamy as I would have liked); and, a Bacon Cheese sliders that was a lunch special(these came with a generous beef patty and an ample amount of bacon strips; it also came with a side of sweet corn on the cob that was absolutely fresh and yummy!). Service was very friendly and lovely, and I’d love to come back and try out some of their main entrees, like the Cottage Pie, the fajitas, and the Bangers and Mash. They also have live music in the evenings, featuring a lot of the local bands! Definitely check them out if you’re in the Front Royal neighborhood! +Stuffed Mushroom Caps: D +Big Soft Pretzel: D +homemade boursin cheese: D +spicy mustard +live music during the week(Tues-Sat) :D +friendly staff: D

Let’s start off this 5 Star Review by saying up front: this is a Lounge and is reviewed as such. Walking into the door: Greeted as a regular though I’ve only been here once before. The waitstaff and bartenders do not know me, so being greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner is nice. The place had few people as it was only around 7pm at time of arrival. Sit down and drink: My drink of choice this evening was Jameson. Bartender asked how I wanted it to ensure it was right. A test of Two Rocks(though silly) worked. Two Rocks and a count pour of Jameson in front of me. Bartender asked if I wanted food at the moment, but I declined. Barstaff was friendly and attentive. I was always asked for a refresh prior to my last sip of the glass. The order: After a drink or two(or four), I asked for the food menu. Menus are by the bar, so it was as easy as reaching down to grab a clipboard(literally). Selection of bar fair was actually quite impressive and different from those in the area(including Winchester). I decided on the Helltown burger as I am in Helltown after all. Order was taken and a small dinner mat and cutlery was placed in front of me. The wait was not long enough to finish my round of Jameson, so no complaints. Food: Helltown Burger with Mac & Cheese as a side. First the burger: though not extremely juicy, the meet itself was tasteful. The elements of heat from the peppers and spicy mustard really tied well with the burger. The Mac: I’m almost more impressed by their Mac & Cheese than I was the burger. You could tell that it was not prepackaged, possibly not even pre’prepared. The slice of cheese added to it after to bind it all added richness and flavor to the side. Price: $ 34 for 4 drinks of Jameson and a burger dinner. Not to shabby. Again, this is a Lounge not a Michelin star restaurant. Lucky Star exceeded my expectations for good food and excellent service. Keep it up!

Tremendous beer selection and surprisingly good bar food. It’s likely the best bar front royal has to offer, not that there are many!

Absolutely delicious.. Great service yummy food. Very nice atmosphere. Hummus trio, best humus I’ve ever had & the pita bread was warm and soft with lots of flavor Hubby is a vegan and they had plenty of choices for him. The salad was very fresh and dressing was delish. For the main course we ordered the Bangers mash for me, potatoes freshly mashed onion gravy, peas and the yummiest sausage ever.. Just THEBEST and the pasta Primavera for hubby came with fresh snap peas fresh tomatoes, zucchini and squash, he didn’t speak once which means leave me alone I’m enjoying myself. Very accommodating we ordered off the entrees and didn’t realize they don’t serve these until after 4 pm, but they made it for us anyway. Now that’s excellent service. This is NOTTOGOODTOBETRUE… IT’S really awesome and the only bad part was when it ended. My favorite place in Front Royal by far.

The«owner» is maybe one of the rudest people I have ever interacted with at a restaurant/“lounge”. Upon second visit(friend wanted to go there) it was a much more pleasant experience. Food is wonderful and the bartender AWESOME.

Fantastic food, much, much better than you might expect at a local«bar». The food is on a par with high-end restaurants in DC, although the prices quite reasonable. Excellent menu supplemented by daily specials. Nothing fried, all baked, roasted, etc. The veggies in particular are always very nice, as are the side salads accompanying entrees. Even simple things like Fish & Chips are unusually good – and not fried! And the menu has many interesting choices in addition to the typical favorites. Ask Trevor, the knowledgable British co-owner/bartender, about the daily specials or anything on the menu. A surprising amount of thought goes into everything the kitchen prepares. They also have a huge beer selection! About a dozen on tap, and not just the usual domestics. Excellent imports & a variety of rotating lagers, IPAs, and more. Dozens of others by the bottle/can, including a nice selection of British beers & microbrews. Live music after 9:00p every day, earlier on Satudays. Closed Sundays now. Gets busy in the evenings, particularly on Fri/Sat, but relatively quiet in the afternoons. Very friendly staff.

great burgers and killer nachos… skip the chili on the nachos though. Monday nights ‘Ralph Fortune’ plays and he’s great. Have come back several times for the food and music. The owner, Trevor, is pretty swell too.

Solid place — they make all their food(salad dressings, everything) from scratch at reasonable prices. Food tends to run a little salty for my taste on occasion. Good bar, good music.

If I lived closer to Front Royal, I’d probably eat here every night! This is my kind of place — friendly and unpretentious, with a killer bar and delicious menu. After an 8 mile slog through snow-covered trails in Shenandoah, my hiking partner and I were cold and starving and hoping that Front Royal would offer up something better than the fast food joints that littler the place. We found the Lucky Star Lounge via Google and decided it fit the bill. We were on the bit early side for dinner, so the place only had a few people in it. We were tempted to sit on the comfy couches, but feared we’d fall asleep, so we opted for the bar to get a better feel for the place. I am not much of a beer drinker; I tend to prefer fruit beers and ciders and there were at least a half dozen options for me to choose from. Choosing my meal was no easier — everything looked delicious. I opted for the Lucky Star Burger(grilled onions, BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese) with potato wedges and added a side of the mac and cheese. The burger was delicious and came out cooked perfectly to temp and the potato wedges were perfectly crispy on the outside, tender inside and flavorfully seasoned. Everything was piping hot and freshly prepared. Now, the mac and cheese — TODIEFOR! I’ve had fancy schmancy mac and cheese at several places in DC and this one topped ‘em all. So creamy and cheesy and delicious!!! The owners were lovely and we enjoyed talking with them and getting the story of how he – a Londoner and she, — from Louisiana, ended up meeting in Toronto and ultimately opening up a pub in Front Royal, VA. The Lucky Star is definitely Front Royal’s shining star!

Nifty little bar/lounge/restaurant in cute downtown Front Royal. This seems like a great place to hang out, drink beer, and watch a band. The beer selection is very large — I think they have about 100 beers. Definitely so many that they have to divide the beers into categories on a menu. We went to eat dinner, however, not to hang out. Food was okay, and the prices were right. Our waitress was very nice. We both liked the big pretzel and boursin cheese. Definitely eat that if you’re there for drinks! My husband liked his bbq bacon cheeseburger. All I was in the mood for was grilled cheese and soup. These were«meh». The grilled cheese tried hard to be something it need not be – there’s no need to put cumin on grilled cheese, nor do you have to put it on a croissant instead of plain wheat bread! But if I was feeling better, I probably would have ordered something like what he had and enjoyed it.

Overall, I’d say it was a positive experience, but not without it’s opportunities to improve. The food was fine — tasty, hot, and relatively on time. I had the shrimp and artichoke primavera. I also liked the crab chowder. But, I’d say the waitstaff needs a little instruction on how to keep an eye on their tables. The place was slow when I was there, and people around me were having to get up and find their waitress in order to have bacon put on their bacon burgers. I waited a long time for a second beer and the tab. But, I understand this is all too typical of Front Royal, so what can you do? It’s hard to find good help when there’s no motivation to do a great job. General lack-of-competition does this to small businesses. If you enjoy a variety of beer, though, this is your place. Great selection!

I’ve had better! The food was mediocre, the dining area was right next to the bar and very very small tight quarters, the live band was way too loud for 5pm. Not happy with the place at all. The food took too long to get to my table and believe it or not the alcohol drink I ordered was made completely wrong. Will not be going back there again.

Let me preface my review by stating that I am a little biased as I visit the bar quite often and love the staff. It is the only place in Front Royal that is anywhere close to a «real bar» and has a full bar and great beer selection. Lucky Star Lounge also has live entertainment throughout the week. With that said, I’ve had a couple of meals here that were just OK. So, we didn’t eat there often. But recently we had a guest staying with us who was a vegetarian and good veggie restaurants are few and far between in Front Royal. So, I punted and took him to Lucky Star as they have a pretty extensive vegetarian menu. I am not a vegetarian, so for the first meal I ordered the special — pulled pork BBQ sandwich. It was REALLY good. I mean, REALLY good. And I know good BBQ. It was so good in fact that when we went there a second time, I begged them to make more BBQ for me, but unfortunately they were out. Instead, I had the hot ham and brie sandwich with honey mustard and it was very, very good. The service is always fantastic and the wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. So if you are rolling through Front Royal and are looking for a place to get a good beer, great meal and maybe watch a little TV — check out Lucky Star Lounge.

Place if very local as one would expect for a small town. Big supporter of local live music. Good food, tends to be healthier offerings, plenty of libations to choose from, cozy atmosphere. I have been several times now and it keeps getting better. The only minus recently was wait staff service was inexcusably rude and poor. Have not had that problem before so will attribute to one bad apple. Don’t let it spoil the bunch LS!
