Here you will have the best fettuccini Alfredo with chicken you’ll ever experience. I wanted to devour my girlfriend’s dish after one taste of it. My seafood dish of the day was awesome, too.

Wow!!! What a find! This place is tucked beside a theatre on the Main Street in town. The menu seems traditional but the chef turns these seemingly normal cuisine into a tasty masterpiece on a plate!!! We started with the old bay wings and will be back for another plate of those soon. The«Mushroom Duck» was phenomenal paired with a nutty rice pilaf and teriyaki sauce. The finish was a chocolate chili. We were so surprised by the flavored here. The price was absolutely worth the experience. We will be back again, and again! You MUST come here but make sure to make a reservations as the seating is limited and leave the kids at home.

The best restaurant in Front Royal– bar none! The chef changes the menu frequently while keeping the fan favorites– like the shrimp tempura appetizer or the mushroom duck! When we want a treat, this is the place we head! The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable! They have just added their famous burgers back on to their summer menu– hooray!

Never again, my friend that got the quesadilla had the best meal. My chicken sandwich meal was terrible, fries were okay. Service was so slow!!! A couple that arrived after us ate and left before we were even served! Food was nothing to write home about.

Great dinner we had a fabulous French red wine from Rhone with our meal. I had a wonderful duck salad and my husband had the special… filet of ostrich over wild rice it was so good! We highly recommend this restaurant and will return! The owner Paul was friendly and personable and our server Jason was well informed of the wines and menu. A+

My fiancé and I are still here. I couldn’t wait until I left. This is the best dinner I’ve had in a LONG time… We are from the DC area but driving back from southern virginia. We stopped by here as a complete«eh let’s try this place». And we are so glad we did. It is right by the movie theatre a hidden gem, indeed. We ordered the potato and dill soups, smoky tomato bisque soups(strips of grilled cheese was added to the sides). It was a a slice of perfection. Then for dinner we ordered the mushroom duck medallion entrée, and the peanut butter burger. And had the mashed potatoes and fries as sides. We totally ate that pb burger in less than 30 seconds. Seriously. And we had the duck and the sides were as well done as the protein. The duck was tender but the ends were skin was crispy. The glaze was amazaaaaing. Mashed potatoes with duck fat anju sauce. They had imported tiramisu from Italy and crème brûlée with candied bacon. Coffee imported from Mexico. And the waiters recommendation if cab sauv from chile was a perfect blend throughout the meal. It went with everything. Such a hidden gem and so glad we found it. Now we know where to go when we’re here. Wish you were in Alexandria!

I’m going to start with the positives. Very intimate and quiet. I really like the simple menu with really good choices, The food is really good! Shrimp tempura for the appetizer was very good. We had the duck, chicken Alfredo and the fish tacos. They all 3 were fantastic and we all were beyond happy with the food! Sooooo let’s talk about the rest of it. Holy SHIT!!! the service was the absolute worst I’ve ever seen!!! And getting our food took literally forever. It was so long that he asked us if we wanted desert before we even got our entrées. And it must be a one time deal because after we did eat there were no more mentions of a desert option. I would say this will be their downfall. We had a 600 reservation and finally got our check at 830. Will not be going back based on the service.

Delicious, authentic & fresh. You’d never expect this place to be so delicious; the atmosphere is really casual, the food is really fabulous — definitely recommend.

Romantic, elegant, and wonderful food. You can’t go wrong with this fine dining restaurant. Go at Christmastime and Main Street is magical!

I had the best duck I have ever eaten at this restaurant. It was called Mushroom Duck and was out of this world. The ambiance is nonexistent but it made no difference because the food was that good. If I am ever in Front Royal again, I will be back.

After discovering Vino 124 was closed for moving and discovering a delightful tea and chocolate shop, dinner was resigned to a place new to us: Wine and Duck. While Pip was pleased with her meal, I was less than impressed. First, there was the menu. We were in the restaurant around 6 o’clock or so, and the item I wanted was out. At 6 on a Saturday night? Plan much? Then came the wait: close on an hour. The daughter got her dish(a quesadilla) but it was close on 40 minutes until Pip’s duck and my SALAD(yes, I had steak on it but come on…) arrived. A table that arrived after us was served… so no, not impressed with the kitchen competency. I did try the kid’s quesadilla, and it was impressive. The steak salad? When a quesadilla is better than a steak salad entrée, I think you’re doing it wrong. I’m taking another star away for the rather odd mood. The only reason we could see our meal was that we took a window seat. The rest of the place was enjoying the ambiance of darkness. No, Brad, this was not the best meal I’ve ever had. And no, I don’t recommend this place… unless you got some plot development to kill time for your meal.

I was actually surprised that I only saw 1 Duck item on the menu considering the name of the place almost indicates that it would naturally have more than 1 duck option but regardless it was absolutely delicious. I am very weird about duck because I am used to it being fatty or slightly undercooked but this dish was amazing. It was perfectly cooked, the sides were perfect with it and the duck had a light crisp to it on the outside and it was tender inside and not fatty at all. I probably looked like I hadn’t eaten in days because I inhaled it. The staff was pretty nice too. If you are in the area I highly recommend coming here. It’s small on the inside though but it’s not too bad, it is in a small town after all.

I had heard great things about this place. My boyfriend and I decided to check it out since it is hard to find a place like this in the area. I called to see what the hours were, since it was a Sunday, and was told that the kitchen wouldn’t be closing until 9:30 pm. We arrived at 8:30, and were quickly shooed out of the door by a waitress. She told us that they were closed, even though all but two tables were full. It absolutely put a damper on my mood. We ended up walking down the«strip» and ate at a little soul food place. The service and food were GREAT. Hopefully we will get to try out the wine and duck, and hopefully the staff will be a bit friendlier than what we experienced this time.

Finding a good restaurant in Front Royal was about as likely to me as breathing air on the moon. So, I got to say I was floored by my experience at The Wine and Duck! I ate here recently with a group of five. So, I got to try a lot of dishes. The salad dressing on their house salad is hands down the best vinaigrette I’ve had. The wings(which seem out of place on their menu) were fantastic, when wings are good they are great, when they are bad they are really bad, but this place knows how to do them right! The homemade blue cheese dressing that comes with the wings is unparalleled, done right, all blended into a smooth amalgamation of creamy, potent blue cheese goodness! Like a delicious blue cheese milk shake from heaven! Seriously, I wouldn’t joke about blue cheese. Caesar salad was spot on! The chicken marsala was cooked perfectly, juicy and perfectly dressed with a earthy mushroom sauce, not over done, just the perfect«condimente» in the true Italian style. The french dip sandwich was everything it should be, but usually isn’t anywhere else. The bread was so soft yet had a perfect thin crust on the exterior, the roast beef was tender and moist, not stringy at all. The Au Jus was the REAL deal, not some bullion cube thrown in some luke warm water. It had a very nice depth of flavor and intoxicating beefy aroma. For desserts we all split two. The sorbet which was unlike any I’ve ever had, and I always order the sorbet at a restaurant, it was so airy it melted like foamy butter in your mouth. Everyone at the table agreed, hands down, best sorbet ever! The other dessert was a chocolate mousse with whipped cream and smoked sea salt. it was a flavor bomb of savory and sweet that left you feeling more satisfied than George W Bush after correctly conjugating a verb. If you’re in Front Royal or anywhere nearby, you have to eat at this place for dinner. Its a hole in the wall, but the food won’t let you down, on the contrary it’ll pick you up and throw you into a really really good mood.

We went to this tiny restaurant on a Tuesday night. The menu is small and could be a little more varied. It was to me very heavy on beef entrees. The service was so slow and inattentive but the food was really really good. That is why I am giving it 4 stars. Our group had King Charles, Hand Cut Rib Eye, the duck entrée and Tempura Shrimp. They were all superb! Will definitely go back and hope the service improves.

The food is great, but try to call and reserve a spot because seating is very limited. The prices are getting up there, but the food is worth it and they are pretty decent nontheless. Nice place over all, I’d go back. :)

I have been to Front Royal, VA once and my wife, sister-in-law, and I fortuitously found ourselves at the Wine and Duck Restaurant and Wine Bar. I say fortuitously because it was really just that. There was very little planning, we just kind of stumbled in while we were downtown. First of all, what a world class, five star restaurant of this caliber is doing in tiny Front Royal is beyond me. This is the kind of place I would expect to walk into in Paris, New York, or Milan. Bravo! Their special was pheasant. I had never had pheasant before, but I figured what the hey! I’m here, it’s here, let’s do this, and I did. The pheasant along with its sides were brilliantly, and masterfully cooked. The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly, nothing over or under done. We also had their complementary bread and some sort of appetizer. I’m not remembering what the appetizer was(this was actually a while back) but I remember being very impressed. My wife got the chicken marsala, which was also delicious, and my sister-in-law got a burger(good, but not what I would have ordered… obviously, because I didn’t). Anyway, don’t go here if you’re looking for something cheap. The prices are appropriate for the dishes here. Seriously check it out. Bön appetit!

My friends and I had a «ladies getaway» in Front Royal last weekend. The Innkeeper at the bed & breakfast where we stayed recommended The Wine and Duck to us and we are so glad we listened! This was the best restaurant food that I have had in a very long time! Each and every item is literally made to order and you better get there early because they only use fresh ingredients, so they do run out of some of their more popular dishes.(Also, since they use fresh ingredients and make your food to order, you need to expect to be waiting for a little while to get your meal). First, we went there on Fri evening and we were pretty late getting there at about 9PM. I wanted to try the French Dip and they were out, so I opted for Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and it was a great choice! I was impressed with the alfredo sauce as it was obviously fresh made, but had a sweetness to it that is not typical. Everything was seasoned appropriately. I also had Blackberry Cheesecake for dessert and it was superb! Well, it was so good, that we returned the following night! The second time around, we made sure to get there a little earlier and it was about 7PM. We wanted to make sure they still had the French Dip. Unfortunately, they did not, but they had one burger remaining. So, I chose the BBQ burger, without mushrooms, and it was divine! Normally, I wouldn’t think to describe a burger as divine, but it was one of the best that I’ve ever had. It was so good that I finished my burger before I even touched my french fries! We also stuck around that night sipping on some wine and we had a really good time talking to the locals and the staff. I will be going back to Front Royal very soon just to take my boyfriend to the Wine and Duck because I loved it so much! I wish I could have that burger again, right now…

The Wine and Duck is a tiny restaurant almost hidden by the movie theater in downtown Front Royal. We wanted something a little different and love duck, so we decided to check it out. The tiny dining room was packed during our visit so we sat in the window seats. I had a lovely pinot grigio and my husband had a beer. I started with the French onion soup, which may well be the best French onion soup I’ve ever had. Next up was the spinach salad with warm dressing. My salad had a little too much dressing, but it was still pretty tasty. They actually gave my salad to the wrong table, and when MY salad arrived offered to give me a free dessert for the mix-up. I had the duck with tamarind and pickled daikon radish. The duck was delicious but the radishes were so pickled that you couldn’t eat more than a couple. My husband also had a duck dish with a heavy but incredibly flavorful sauce. We were so stuffed from dinner that we passed on the free dessert. I highly recommend the Wine and Duck if you are in the mood for a tasty, cozy meal.
