Fantastic food for about ½ the price of other prix fixe restaurants. When I went it was $ 35/pp another $ 10 if you wanted Foie Gras as an app. The size of the foie gras that came out was huge. I’ve paid $ 30 for that much Foie Gras at other places. Main course I had a braised lamb shank with a fantastic sauce. All the portions were big as well and the Dessert was great. I had a Carrot Cake w/Cherries in it. The cake was light and not super dense like most carrot cakes

High quality, haute cuisine at half the price it would be in Austin. Recently went for the three course prix fixed dinner and was blown away! Starter of patè, foie gras(in Georgetown!), and Cochon. This was followed by pork shank and a take on s’mores that was unbelievable. My only quibble would be that the chef is a bit heavy handed with the salt. I would ask for less salt next time but the food quality, wine list and service are still deserving of five stars. Overall probably the best restaurant in Georgetown at the time of this writing.

This is my FAVORITE restaurant! My husband dropped in here with his dad about a year ago without a reservation and they gave them a front window beautiful table. After that my husband made a reservation and we’ve been there three times since. The menu changes every day and with every change comes amazing different tastes. I take pride in taking pictures of the food there and writing on Instagram what each dish was. They have impeccable service as well, the same waiters and waitresses every time. The decorations are very simple but yet pleasing, gives it a richer feeling. I highly suggest this restaurant for a fancy occasion to make someone feel special, best experience ever! PS, take a stroll around Georgetown before and after. Beautiful square!

Never good food, because it’s always wonderful! Never anything average. The chef has extensive knowledge and ability to do the most creative things with food. Be ready and open-minded.

This place is consistently wonderful. We dined the night before Thanksgiving and it was not a disappointment. Fresh local produce and meats are always used. Snapper was grilled to perfection. Not a dry bite. It was accompanied by a creamy corn side that was not lumpy or too rich. Dessert was a pumpkin crème brule. Just a hint of sweetness and a nice light pumpkin flavor. The chef is consistently inventive and always using what is available and creating a masterpiece. This is a must eat place. Drive the forty minutes from Austin and try it, you will not regret it. But make a reservation, as it is a small popular place.

I’ve been going to the Hollow for quite some time and have always been surprised and mostly delighted with what’s on the menu. There is no standard menu(sometimes annoying as the daily menu is not always posted), but for the most part there is a good selection to choose from. The chef(Jacob) excels at «French cooking» so I wish some of the old standards would always be on the menu– bouillabaisse, salad nicoise, escargots, steak à l’Americaine/ tartare, daube for the winter, and the new world/creole favorite of crawfish beignets with remoulade sauce. Chef Jacob does wonderful renditions of French staples and could be in the top handful of chefs in Texas with his knowledge and execution of French cooking. To be fair there always seems to be a bit of fish/shellfish on the menu, as well as meat and game. I would just prefer a set menu with daily«French» specials. Also call me old fashioned, but I prefer my main course and sides separated on a plate, but many times you’ll find everything placed together in a large bowl. This is a personal preference and has nothing to do with the quality of the food. The new plates/ceramics are stunning by the way. Everything on the menu is market(fresh) driven and I applaud this establishment for really being farm to table and not advertising BS by supplying non-fresh ingredients and taking photos in front of tractors per the P. T. Barnums of the restaurant world. Chef Jacob is the real deal and does quite a job in his little kitchen with his selection of fresh ingredients and product. This is a family restaurant and if anyone here has ever worked for a parent/in-law must understand the dynamics. The patriarch is boastful, as well as friendly with a story to tell. Mom smiles and shakes her head side to side listening to the stories she’s heard over and over. Everyone in this establishment is kind and genuine– just like your own family ;) Though the dynamics might be a recipe for divorce it works and this restaurant produces some of the finest meals in Central Texas. The wine list is well thought out with a few rarities. For those who like brew this is one of the few locales in the area with Jester King. This is the top chef/restaurant in Georgetown– no comparisons exist. The Hollow is currently serving a fixed menu on Mondays, Hors d’oeuvres specials on «Tapas Tuesday» and Sunday brunch. Closed for lunch. Menus and offers change all the time so give a call before you head down. You won’t be disappointed.

Since my last review, I have participated in two cooking classes. Jacob and Lynda are very gracious. Both the instruction and the food exceeded expectations. For the bread cooking class, Jacob put together a cutting board with pâté, cheeses, veggies etc. which, while excellent, was expected. What was a brilliant surprise the the gorgeous braised pork he served with it… For A Bread Class. I can’t recommend the cooking classes highly enough.

The owner of this establishment is FANTASTIC! Treats you like family. This is our Sunday brunch location. The service is easily the best in Georgetown and the menu is always updated with something different and new. If you haven’t been, GO Tell them I sent you

Hidden Gem in Georgetown Pros — Exceptional & unique flavors, comparable service, quaint atmosphere Cons — A little off the beaten path, but totally worth the drive to Georgetown Just as impressed with our second visit as we were with our first. Our first visit, we had the wine pairings dinner with a few French classics including roasted duck entrée and pot d’crème desert. Tonight, we had tapas including lamb stuffed pablano, scallops, pork belly and great wine. Finished with rich chocolate torte. We’ll be back very soon.

My fiancé planned a date night here last week in order to spend some much needed quality time together. He made reservations and warned me to dress nicely. I assume based on some of the Unilocal reviews? The food looked delicious and I had heard The Hollow was the place to go for amazing food. And it was nice to have gluten free options available to us. We came in a little earlier than our reservation time, but were seated immediately. We were provided our wine and drinks, but our server and the wine consultant weren’t the best. We had to ask several times if certain things on the menu were gluten free. My fiancé had called earlier, but the person on the phone couldn’t give 100% specific details. We sat there for 30 minutes with just our water and wine. Our server managed to check on the table next to us several times, but ignored us completely. The table next to us had finished their appetizer, ate their entrée, had dessert, paid for their bill, AND left BEFORE we even placed our order for an appetizer. My fiancé wanted to leave, but we stayed so as not to ruin our night together. What we received was pretty disappointing. We ordered charcuterie and cheese. It was pretty to look at, but not the best. We also ordered the steak tartare, which was the better of the two. For our entrees, we ordered the duck breast and the Mr. Porktastic. The duck breast was dry and the cheese and figs did little to help it. It was also very salty. I took a few bites and put it aside. I did take it home and ate it over brown rice and used cream cheese to help reduce the saltiness. My fiancé’s dish was better than mine, but not by much. His was salty too, which surprised me because he loves his salt. Our dessert was amazing. We wish we knew what it was called. All we know is it had the words foie gras and ice cream in it. Our server wasn’t the best at explaining or even staying long enough for us to complete a full sentence. The bill came quickly though. Probably the fastest thing to happen all night. I would have understood that the service was lackluster if the restaurant was busy, but it wasn’t. There was one other table besides us. I feel like we were mistreated because there was the perception given our age that we wouldn’t tip well, which is ridiculous since we tend to over-tip when we go out even when the service is bad. This place is definitely not equal opportunity since the middle aged couple next to us received excellent service while we were treated with very mediocre service and the table behind us received their orders at the same time we received ours even though they came in almost an hour after us. The only person who was slightly nice to us was the bartender who said thanks for coming in as we were walking out. The star is for the steak tartare and the foie gras and ice cream dessert thing. The layout was really nice and we hoped to turn it into our regular date night spot, but after what happened, we won’t be back.

Amazing!!! My boyfriend and I happen to come to this restaurant after walking around DT Georgetown this afternoon and it was fabulous! We sat at the bar since all the tables were reserved and we chatted with the owner and his wife for a while. The food was to die for! We have eaten a lot of very good meals from all over the country and this was some of the best we have had! I got the pork which literally fell off the bone and my boyfriend got the duck. He ate the whole thing and left me none! How rude! This place is great! From the style of the restaurant and the staff to the fantastic owners and amazing food… This place is Amazing! Can’t wait to come back ;)

We had a night out without little ones and decided to try out a new place. We found The Hollow on Unilocal and decided to give it a shot based on the reviews. Overall I would say we had a «good» meal… unfortunately at a restaurant with these prices in the Austin area I tend to expect«amazing». Notes on food: — For our appetizer we had the goat cheese flan. This was hands down the best thing we ate all night. It was a great balance of savory with sweet accompaniments. Not so sweet you felt like it was dessert. Would have been nice to see a good cracker or some vehicle to eat it on as after a while it started to just feel like a lot of cheese. — I had the duck confit and my spouse had the lamb. The duck fat was rendered well but found the meat was a little dry. The roasted peaches were a nice touch and helped add the needed moisture. The country potatoes were just okay and seemed more an after thought or filler… maybe they just really want you to order an additional $ 15 side dish(which we ultimately did). The lamb was cooked perfectly, a little on the rare side which was nice to see, seeing lamb over cooked makes me unhappy. For our side we had the risotto which was also cooked perfectly and a nice fit with our meals. — We did not opt for dessert as we were already $ 150 into the meal(two drinks each) and were pretty full from all the richness above… we were feeling a bit overindulged already and for good reason! — I have to add one more thing in the hopes this is read by the restaurant… the bread that was brought out was over-the-top SALTY. Wow, never seen this before but there was coarse ground salt on the serving platter with the bread. Bites of just the bread without the added salt were already a very powerful salty punch, so I have no idea what the added salt was for unless it was spilled on the tray and not noticed? I really can find no explanation for the salt that was present in this part of the meal, really strange. Service was solid and definitely on par with the quality of restaurant. Great job here. Overall not sure we will be back, there are so many chefs doing amazing things in the Austin area for half the price. As a friend of mine said and I relate well to, there are often diminishing returns on food. When you pay 2−3X for a meal it is pretty rare to find the restaurant experience that you derive 2−3X the pleasure from the experience!

We had brunch there last week, and we’ll be back this week! Our orders were simple, strawberries and cream oatmeal for the kids and I and an omelet for my husband. The oatmeal was surprisingly impressive, I mean, it’s oatmeal, how amazing can it be? Pretty damn good actually! The kids are begging to go back. I snuck a bite of my husband’s omelet and although I’m extremely picky about eggs(and therefore never order them), I might have to order it next time. We also got a chance to speak with the owner and some of the staff. Everyone was very friendly and we love that reservations are respected here. I also love that we brought our young children and they were extremely friendly towards them and we never felt like we shouldn’t have brought them. All around great experience!

I regret not writing this review much earlier(like almost a month ago when we visited Georgetown). A lot has happened since our visit but The Hollow continues to stand out as one of the great food stops on this recent trip. What I adore about this place is it’s unique, real, non-pretentious, seasonal menu based on available produce. There’s no 6 page picture menu, thank goodness. This is the food spot I love to find. The menu is is changing and fresh. There’s a small but inviting bar area and a calm dining area. Look up and around and you see the stairs leading upstairs. My curiosity was rewarded with a quick tour of the upstairs dining area — usually used for small groups, dinner parties, and, I imagine, some overflow seating. We were here just in time on a Sunday when they offer very limited hours; lunch/brunch. Very welcoming staff and surprisingly well informed about the current menu. Based on how our server described, it was clear she had first hand experience with each offering. I wish I remembered what each of us had but what I do remember is the sense of satisfaction of a freshly cooked meal with fresh ingredients and prepared with passion. I know on our next visit here(October) we will be returning.

We love this restaurant. We’ve been on a fancy date night and a brunch with our very young kids and both time were treated extremely well and the food was so good and inventive. I look forward to seeing what the chef has come up with each time, and have never had a single bad item.

It’s not often I go to Georgetown… but when I do, I drink wine and slowly find myself in what seems to be THECOOLESTPLACEEVER, somewhat of an alternate universe. Is it the wine you ask? Probably, but in this case, The Hollow really is the COOLESTPLACEEVER!!! I had heard about this place a while back and just hadn’t been able to go yet. When my sister and I found ourselves drinking wine and listening to music on a chilly 78 degree December night, I knew this would have to be our next stop. We approached the hostess stand without a reservation and although the restaurant was seemingly empty, he acted as if it might be an issue to seat us. Turns out he was the house manager, and anyone who has worked at a restaurant knows the managers usually never have a clue as to what the hostess does. The actual hostess came back from seating another table and promptly sat us. Whoa! Fa fa fa fancy!!! White linens, white upholstered chairs, repurposed wood room dividers, funky painted dear heads and TWO forks? I definitely got myself into something good here. Since we felt fancy we of course each ordered a glass of prosecco. We were then served bread and butter. You know those steak chains with awesome bread and cinnamon butter? Yeah, this beats that. Which says a lot coming from me. We then were handed the menu. It is made like a clipboard on a hand cut wooden board. While this was pretty, it was also about 6 inches too long. Two wouldn’t lay on the table at the same time so we had to put it in our lap to have enough length. Our waitress was insanely knowledgeable and excited about the menu, which is something you don’t normally see north of 183(with a small exception). She recommended we do small plates with a cheese instead of the big plates. Yes! I’m loving it even more! Okay, I’m gonna wrap it up, I’ve gotten carried away with enthusiasm. We had the Manchego served with candied pecans and apple, Snails in a Red Wine sauce, quail, and creamy crepes for dessert. The Georgetown Square might just be to the Austin area restaurant scene what Brussels Sprouts are to the food scene. Bravo, The Hollow, bravo!

The food is incredible, the 6 course meal is amazing and the best way to experience the menu. All the food is made in house, and the produce is locally grown! The wine selection is superb and perfectly paired with every course! The service staff is knowledgeable, tell them what you like and trust them to select the right item from their ever changing menu. My glass never went empty!!! The owners were a delight and spoke with everyone!!! You can tell the Chef and Sous-Chef really love food it shows, and they will check to make sure you enjoyed what you ate. I truly believe this is the best restaurant I have ever dined at! The Hollow has raised the bar of excellence!!! Well done! I will bring people that I want to impress to this establishment!!!

I’ve had good experiences at many restaurants across the Austin-metro area. I’ve ventured up to Georgetown many times as well. That being said, I don’t think I’ve had as welcoming an experience anywhere as I had at The Hollow. You probably need a reservation, so don’t show up without one like we did. I think we got lucky. We were greeted by the hostess and she was super sweet and accommodating. We didn’t have a reservation, but she took a few minutes and got us a table. Once we were seated, she stayed a bit and chatted with us about the menu before our waitress came over. The menu changes pretty often according to the staff here. The proteins don’t change much, but the way they are prepared does. I don’t know if what I ordered will be available when y’all go, but I think you’ll enjoy the experience for sure. We ordered a starter of candied pork belly over a tart. The presentation was incredible. That will be a theme as I continue. Great presentation at every turn. It felt like we were ordering dessert when it came. The balance of sweet and savory was amazing. The pork was melting right at the touch of a fork. It smelled like BBQ sauce, but had a sweetness like nothing else I have tasted. For mains, I went for the Striped Bass prepared with veggies. I don’t remember what the purée was underneath, but It had a very strong flavor to it. The fish came with the skin on and bones fully in. The head was removed. The fish was cooked to perfection. My only complaint would be that this fish does have quite a few smaller bones that were more difficult for me to avoid. I quickly adjusted and became an expert at picking out the meat. The waitress even complemented me on my skills. Haha Overall, the food was great, the ambience was a comfy/classy mix and the service was really thoughtful and prompt. The menu lists all of the farms that they source their food from, so it definitely has that local feel.

What a wonderful birthday dinner! I saw an article in the paper about this restaurant and knew I had to check it out. Jenna was our waitress and she was awesome! I’m a pescetarian so I was hoping to get some seafood. Sold out! :(she accommodated !! ! She got us the bar menu in a forbidden zone! We had the beet salad, gnosh dish, crème brûlée, wine, crab cake, wine, shrimp tacos, wine… Did I say wine? She was awesome! Manager stopped by to say hi and let us know to call first and make sure they have fresh fish… I love this place and will be back! Cheers!
