Came here for dinner about a month ago and was very happy with the experience. The ambiance was very relaxed with low lighting and friendly staff. Was happy with quick service and great food. The name of the restaurant may lead you to believe it to be more of a pub, which is not exactly the feel I had. Very family friendly and overall good experience.

We visited BlueBird for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday morning in the first hour of opening. We were greeted by cordial, not particularly friendly, staff. There was no wait time. I ordered the PDX Scramble and my husband ordered the Chicken and Waffles. We received our food in what seemed to be and appropriate time. My scramble was satisfying; the potatoes were potatoes – I ate them :) I tried my husband’s food and it was definitely more appealing in the sense of eating a treat or something that we do not normally eat at home. I do think I regret skipping out on ordering the Cinnamon Roll after spying a few neighboring guests enjoy what looked to be, as my toddler would say, a «tasty treat». I do not have much to say about the service. Our waitress did her job. Nothing above and beyond but to the point and matter of fact. We may visit again, perhaps at a different hour to explore the menu and maybe interact with staff a bit more.

We heard good things about Blue Bird and decided to give it a try Wednesday evening. Great setting for good food and friendly staff. They had a number of rotating local taps for beer and some local wine selections. The menu isn’t large but the food we selected was outstanding. Started with and Irish Stew soup that tasted like it was simmering in a slow cooker to perfection. Main course was their rotating pasta selection which was a spätzle with mushrooms and spices, it was fantastic. We also had their steak. It was cooked just right and the sides of greens and potato were tasty. Dessert of hazelnut ganache with chocolate finished of a great meal. We’ll be back to Blue Bird, thanks for the wonderful meal!

Me & my Honey normally go to Sweet Betty’s(which is also good) but I believe we now have a new favorite breakfast/brunch place to go on our weekends … Amazing breakfast scrambles & bloody mary & the service is perfect! I would highly recommend this café. Enjoy!

Just want to share this is our second meal here since the dinner hour reopening of the public house… and I cannot say enough good things. The crispy brussels sprouts are to DIE for(trust me here, they are like nothing I’ve ever tasted) and the limited selection but tasty menu never disappoints. The atmosphere is quiet and casual, it’s family friendly and our 2 finicky teenagers actually also request that we go back: Menu is farm to table and there are vegan menu items as well as traditional faire. Prices are competitive for this quality of entrée & delicious flavors. All I can say east side portlanders is: Go, it will not disappoint.

The atmosphere is fantastic. It can be great for girls night out, brunch with mom or a romantic date. I highly suggest the fried chicken sandwich, brussel sprouts, or grilled cheese sandwich.

Gresham needs more independent trendy restaurants, especially ones that support local and organic farmers. I think Gresham is oversaturated with chains and it’s a breath of fresh air to see this place in the downtown area of Gresham. The reason why this place gets 4 stars is that the food was fantastic and the environment had great décor, was inviting, the lighting was great and the staff was super nice. I came here for dinner about an hour before closing time. The other customers in the restaurant were groups and dates. It was a good mix. Food: The menu is simple, but don’t let that fool you. Less is more in this case. For starters we ordered the polenta fries, they were crispy and came with a delicious side sauce. We both ordered our entrees, the kale salad and the swordfish(which is no longer on the menu) — these together were a pretty good combo. For desert, Marionberry Cheesecake, which was also amazing. If you haven’t given them a try and live in the area or are visiting, stop by and support them. Their Facebook page: Menu:

Went for brunch on a Sunday. 25 minute wait but they take reservations and that can help wait times. Had the fritters and cinnamon roll. Fritters are amazing and arguably the only redeeming feature of the meal. Ordered the Eggs Benedict, my wife got the PDX scramble and we had two other people order biscuits and gravy and one other order chicken and waffles. On the whole the food was bland. The hollandaise sauce was too sour(too much lemon/too little butter). My poached eggs were poached hard. And the potatoes were bland across the board for everyone. A more deft touch with the salt shaker would have transformed the entire meal. The fried chicken was perfect, moist chicken, crisp batter and comply bland again. Service was slow. It is a small place do it is hard to give credit to «we are super busy, sorry for the long wait for anything.» Better seasoning and better management and this place has potential.

We stopped in for brunch. No wait on a Saturday about 1pm. Two bottomless mimosas, the lemon fruit pastry, and an egg scramble set us back about 45 bucks. Food quality was great, and our service was fine. It does seem a bit pricey for the atmosphere, but I am glad we have the option for an upscale breakfast here in Gresham without heading to PDX.

Amazing food. We both ordered sandwiches that tasted great, and the house made chowder was awesome!!! Amazing service. The place has a super homey feel. My husband said he thinks that they thought we were food critics we were treated so well.

We had the brussel sprouts & the polenta fries as an appetizer. Brussels were delicious & I’d go back just for them — bacon, parm, a sauce that was heavenly & crispy leaves, such a satisfying crunch. I’m not a huge fan of polenta but the baby, my husband & his friend enjoyed them, the dipping sauce was yummy. I had the beet salad which was good, fairly bland yogurt sauce, I’d prefer something with a bit more bite, maybe a feta or creamy goat cheese, but overall a good salad, topped with hazelnuts, yum! Husband had grilled cheese with pesto & tomato with potato salad, I tried it & it was so good I think I’ll get it next time. Friend had fish & chips, I didn’t try it but it looked good & he ate it all! Crème brulé for dessert was perfect. Just the right amount for one person & a bite or two to share. The best part was the waitress Jackie — when we got there we ordered the polenta & sprouts right away as I’d forgotten food for the baby — she brought over a jar of organic baby food with a spoon. I would return for that level of kindness even if the food was only ok, so great food and a caring staff — looks like we’ll be back for sure!

It was decent. Love the fact that the ingredients are local but they do lack flavor. Not enough spices or seasoning used. I had fish tacos and did not expect fried fish. They were extremely bland. Kids really liked the chicken baskets. Will try again but for breakfast food next time.

I had my birthday dinner here in July before they temporary shut down for a remodel. Today I came in by myself for brunch! They place looks great! They’ve added a nice long booth in the middle & i feel like it brings the space together & adds balance. I was greeted immediately & I got to chose my seat. I was given a menu, water & good amount of time to explore the menu. All the choices look so good! I’ll be coming back here to eat my way through it. I ordered the Farmers Breakfast– 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, home fries & house made cheese biscuit(SOGOOD!) all for $ 12! Oh my word. The biscuit was the best I’ve had! It was soft & a little but of crunch. The whites of my over medium eggs were flavorful & fluffy, the potatoes were colorful with veggies & full of amazing herbs & seasoning. The sausage was delicious. The bacon, on the other hand, was greasy. I’m pretty sure they didn’t pat it down from the excess grease. So that’s a ding in points. Other than that, delicious, simple dish. One other thing that dinged a star off for me was attentiveness & personableness of the wait staff. Don’t get me wrong, they were friendly & pleasant but they didn’t quite check up on my if I needed anything – which water would’ve been nice to get refilled. They did the bare minimum in my opinion. A little more awareness of customers would be a nice little improvement! Give this place a try! The food is fantastic!

This café has a lot of potential for greatness, but there were only 5 customers including myself here oat 10am on a Friday morning. I ordered the Wy East scramble that was supposed to have wild mushrooms in it. Unfortunately, it only contained crimini mushrooms. When I told the server they had forgotten to include wild mushrooms, she checked with the kitchen and was informed they were out. Criminis had been substituted instead. I feel I should’ve been informed of this when I ordered so I could’ve changed my mind to the eggs Benedict. The wild mushrooms were really what I was wanting in the scramble. The biscuit was homemade and delicious. Their home fries were also some of the best I’ve had with multicolor potatoes, peppers, and onions in them. I’m giving three stars because they did not offer any sort of corrective action or discount when I pointed out the lack of wild mushrooms. The food is decent, but not five start material so it would have been a solid four stars without the mushroom flop. It’s only a matter of time until this place goes out of business.

Mmmmm«The Special Please» Had a nice date night with my guy last night at this place. The board said«Fish & Chips» We said«YES» The server was great — she was very much attentive to our needs. The in-house tarter sauce was delish! We will for sure visit this place again. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather while watching the old car show on the corner.

Yes! Another new local restaurant in Gresham that knocks it out of the park. We automatically felt comfortable as we walked in. They had warmed up the place so it felt more intimate/homey. It also was not noisy though some nice local jazz in the background would be ok too. We split a dinner and a salad between the two of us and it was just enough. They had local sea bass as one of their specials so we went with that and the smoked salmon salad. The chef back there made it not only look pretty but it tasted divine. We decided to get some of their focaccia bread. We ate all of it though I really don’t think butter needs to be automatically brought since the bread seemed to have brushed oil on top. We asked what their desserts were and they sounded artful and downright yummy. I just wanted to hear about them. I’ll save that for next round. They had a nice selection of wines and local beers. There were 2 red wines on the menu by the glass but unfortunately the red blend was out and they were substituting a zin which is really not the same thing. I was good with my Bees Knees special cocktail with my favorite Aviation local gin anyway. Yes! They have cocktails! Ask about their specials. There’s also happy hour! Our server is also local and she’s lived in the area for some time now. I love the fact that they are using local and fresh ingredients as that is so important these days to complete the dining experience. It helps us all and makes the food taste that much better! We usually have to go to Portland for these type of places. Not anymore. Looking forward to more visits here! This is where happy little bluebirds fly after all.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the open house for Gresham’s newest and freshest restaurant, Bluebird dining hall. The set up:] Located right in the center of historic downtown Gresham is this brand new and beautiful restaurant.. upon entering you’ll be greeted by lots of natural light via the large street facing windows. There’s bar height seating along the main store front, plenty of 2 topper tables to piece together and fit larger parties, and a big and beautiful communal dinning table down the middle strip on the restaurant. I was pretty impressed with the interior; the industrial blue walls, floor to ceiling chalk board which highlights their local vendors, their beautiful spanish tile mosaic on their back bar really helps to add a home feeling, a feeling that is just unavailable in most of Portland’s hippest restaurants where«exposed and unfinished» is the look. Bluebird Dining Hall is truly bringing a real dinning approach to all farm to fork lovers. The food:] The menu is centered around farm fresh items. While there I sampled their Arancini balls, beet goat cheese terrine, curried devil eggs, Ruby Jewel soft serve and cookie sandwiches and a few other items off the menu that left me stuffed. Everything sampled was absolutely delicious, I am sure Gresham has nothing already like this. Honorable mention:] there is plenty of free street parking nearby. BB D H offers enough dinning space for a few large and also perfect for just one. I can’t wait to be back, if the soft opening was just a way to figure out kinks than I am absolutely sure I will be spending a lot of time in Gresham. This place already has it down to a T.
