This is the second time we have been here and both times were excellent. Couldn’t find a better meal in Portland proper! The staff really enjoys seeing you enjoy! Very creative, the Brie and berry sandwich was to die for!

Been here two times, the first time was all right because my friends and I just came down for some drinks. The second time we came for food. There was hardly anyone in there on a Thursday night. I had the Mac and cheese which was okay. Over all the experience was just okay.

Not sure where the verbose and negative review below comes from, but she is certainly in the minority. Food is great, atmosphere is terrific, music is awesome, and the service is wonderful. This is a much needed music venue in east county, with some great regular talent. Speciality food is awesome. Chefs are talented and the food is not only good, but reasonably priced. Michael’s wit is sharp and sophisticated. Appreciating it requires a sophisticated mind. Keep up the great work.

THEREAREPLENTYOFOTHERPLACESAROUNDHERETHATOFFERGREATFOOD, DRINKSANDTREATYOULIKE A PAYINGCUSTOMERWHICHYOUARE…****** I wanted to update my original review which I have placed at the very bottom of my post in parentheses. I’m never to not give someone a second chance because a lot of times our first impressions are not 100% and things change. But not this time :( The owner of this place is a poor poor server. He should never be in the customer service industry. I had a negative food and drink experience here once but the waitress seemed ok. but last night topped everything off. my friend and I were having a great night enjoying live music at Billy bobs, but later on that night my friend insisted on going to this place because hey had karaōke night, I told her it was not worth it but she wouldn’t let off. So i once again went there. I went for the safe order of mozzarella sticks and it was ok. Nothing extraordinary there, my martini was ok, given that most of the the cheap bars such as this places use a cheap cash and carry brand of olives, I wasn’t expecting anything more then that. My drink was predictable, and so were the olives. My friend Tannya ordered a fruity strawberry drink which she didn’t even drink after the first sip, she said the texture was slimy and she spit it out. Not to mention she was very intoxicated and I surely thought her taste buds would not have noticed the taste of disappointment, I was wrong. Well the entire reason we went there was for karaōke, when I walked in to the bar, i put in my name rite away. The karaōke booth was ran by the owner and he surely recognized me from our previous fiasco. Usually the proper thing to do is to make up for the failed service in the past, but this guy is just a vengeful vindictive person. Food came fast. We sat there waiting for our turn, place was very slow for the night, with three people at the bar and 6 other people at the table who seemed to be close friends with the owners. He called everyone up to the stage and we waited and waited and waited until the same people were called again for the second time, after we heard the 3rd person for the second rounds I told the guy, I believe you skipped us… Which he replied to! «No I DIDNOT And YOUARENOTSINGINGHEREANYWAYS!!! «(Anyone who knows me I love to karaōke and this was not my first rodeo) I asked for my check, and left. by Felicia! I’m not the one missing out on customers, you are !! The volume of people there speaks for itself! It only takes one person like me to spread the word, businesses come and go on Main Street, I have seen it since the 90’s. If this guys keeps treating customers this bad and serving bad food and awful drinks for the $$ high price, he won’t last. That is my prediction. (This place was greasy and food was not impressive at all. My Bloody Mary was not on point :(disappointed .) PS: The owner of this place has lots and lots of reviews online that are positive, and many of them from his close friends, I doubt that they are honest reviews. Everything I have eaten here and drank was disappointing, or maybe people just have very low standards in food and spirits. It blows my mind away that blue bird diner is closed and this place is still open! What a shame!

Love this place. It’s an old church that’s an important part of the downtown area. The décor is simple, which lets the beautiful wood just glow. They gladly make adjustments to menu items. Food is very good. I’ve rarely been disappointed. A nice part of the community. Nice variety of bands, although we aren’t usually there that late. I enjoy hearing the streamed music as it gives me a chance to hear groups I don’t know about.

Only 1IPA on draft and it was more of a lambic than hoppy. Disappointing to several of us but the staff made no effort to correct the problem(I.e. offer something else). Food was fair with dry roast beef on the French dip and a tiny amount of chicken on the Mac & Cheese which was just ok. The setting was pretty cool with all the windows, but will not be heading back soon.

Stopped by on a whim looking for a late night dinner spot. Cool location, good beer on tap, great food options, great service, and great music. Chicken thighs instead of wings = plenty of meat. Juicy inside and crispy outside. Super delicious! Great musician was playing while we were there — good quality music and not so loud you couldn’t talk if you wanted. Service was fast and friendly. Felt very welcoming and laid back. Had a great night and left wanting to make this a regular go-to hang out spot. So glad we checked it out!

Food was excellent! My husband and I had the«drive a steak in it» salads. Steaks were cooked perfectly. The prices were very competitive. My drink was tasty. We will definitely go back and take friends when we do.

My husband was coming home for the weekend from his job in San Francisco and his flight was late getting in, thank you Southwest, by 2 hours. Now all the places we planned on eating were all closing as we were checking off the list of who would be open. I drove out to the airport and sat in the call waiting area, whipped out my trusty Unilocal app and started looking for who was open at midnight with food that might be a step above greasy bar food. It came down to here and a Mojave Grill. He thought Mexican might be a heavy so we headed over here. I didn’t even know this was a restaurant, as many times as I have walked by it and driven by. The church aspect gives it a cool interior, as well. They were doing Karaōke at an incredibly loud sound level. I am not that old, so it could be I was tired, so we found a table in the corner where I could now kind of hear him. The server came right over and brought the menus and was really sweet, she was the only one waiting on tables, but there were only three or four other tables besides us. I had a Reuben, which I normally am not a fan, had a great vegan one a few months back and suddenly didn’t care if they had meat or not. This one was not even remotely greasy and it was a decent portion. My husband had some kind of chicken thigh, which seems to be their thing. Everything was good and we would go back again, even when the flight wasn’t delayed. I liked they had vegetarian options on the menu, as well. It was far from typical bar food and I am glad we got to try them… so maybe I won’t harsh on Southwest too badly.

One of my favorites! Run by a nice family in an old church right downtown Gresham. The food is consistently very good, the service is always friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is the best around. The live music can be decent on a good night, but we avoid going on Karaōke nights. High recommended!

Spinella’s is a REALLY great place! It was constructed in the twenties as an Evangelical church, and its current function as a music venue, restaurant, and bar seems to be what the building was REALLY intended for. The venue is open to all ages, so bring the kids, too! We generally come here to see various bands play and get dinner at the same time. This review will focus on the venue and its food offerings. The food here is surprisingly good! They have a small menu insert whose items are changed out regularly in addition to their surprisingly broad regular menu selection. I tried the jerk chicken sandwich with slaw on a super soft roll from their small menu, and was very impressed. The sandwich was BIG, the flavors very complex, and delivered a slow-smoldering heat that never got overpowering. It was served with house-made potato chips. It was delicious. Also particularly impressive are the Thunder Thighs. These are chicken thighs that are meticulously trimmed of excess fat and other inedibles, seasoned beautifully, deep-fried just like chicken wings, and then sauced with your choice of several different house-made sauces. These were a surprise hit, and are something I order on every return trip. All of the sauces I’ve tried so far have been outstanding. Why not five stars? Despite the great food, and the genuine sincere friendliness and pride of the owners, they can be a bit inattentive to guests leading to drinks running empty for extended periods of time(which is not necessarily the best thing when eating a spicy jerk chicken sandwich). I hate to say this because they are so nice, but it is one minor item that could be improved.

Amazing atmosphere and friendly service but the food is bland. All I see is elderly people eating here(probably because their taste buds are all burned out). I have been here three times and now will never go back because I have not ordered one thing that was good and has flavor. The place has a open view of the kitchen and once when the plates were taken away with all the leftover food that we didn’t like, you could see the chef and her annoyed reaction. It didn’t make us feel very welcome. They should put a door there. Only recommend coming here for a drink. PROS: –atmosphere –full bar –friendly service CONS: –bland food –questionable meat

Amazing atmosphere, you can tell it’s family owned and that’s what will keep you coming back for more. Flower pot bread is succulent! Don’t even get me started on the thighs… I could eat those for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even a typically bland dish like Mac and Cheese has been reinvented into a delicious dish that will make you upset when you realize you’re on the last bite. Then… take that great food and add friendly staff. They are always wanting to make sure you’re enjoying your stay with them. Just like a family owned place should do, they seem to have extensive training in the art of «hospitality». Even with all that, there is live music, the drinks are great and there’s karaōke some nights! It’s a date night win every time I go there.

Just ridiculous drinks. I’m in love with their no margarita mix margarita – LOVE. Their food is delicious. The atmosphere is pretty great. Now, all they need is a gay night! Then it’d be perfect :)

This is a really cool place. I have been here as three different venues and I like this one the best. However the food fell flat on its face. It was not good. We ordered the courdon bleu balls for an appetizer. Not too bad. A bit salty but good. You have to be careful when eating them. They may be cool to the touch on the outside but are lava on the inside. Bit into one and it squirt hot gravy like liquid that burnt the inside of my mouth. I ordered the thighs. Sounded pretty good on the menu. When they came I was very disappointed. Very small for thighs. Very small. These things had about a 1⁄16 inch layer of hard dry meat covering the outside like they were under a heat lamp for hours. I ordered the plate of three and they were hard to get through. My wife shared her fish because she felt bad. I had one bite and gave it back. Tasted like deep fried carnival food. I left hungry. So the two stars I give this place is for our server who was extremely sweet.

I had high hopes for this place. I was sorely dissapointed. There were 5 adults and 3 kids in our party. When we got there, there was some sort of large party, which had every table occupied. We had to go up to the bar to find a staff member to see if we could even be seated. Next, this is supposed to be a family friendly place. They only had one working high chair, and when we got there it was being used. Right then we should have known to leave. We waited an hour and a half for our food. None of the staff even acknowledged the wait time. And once our food came, it was mediocre at best. Mushy pasta, bland mac n cheese, and steak bites without any sort of au jus or sauce. The food is incredibly overpriced($ 11 for an appetizer size steak bites). Save your money, you’ll feel like you were robbed if you eat here. Oh, and the bathroom is in the basement and it’s super creepy.

This space is very lovely. It’s a brick building that was a church. It feels like a brewery should be located here. It’s a restaurant/bar/music venue spot instead. They’ve got a nice selection of beers though. There’s a happy hour from 3 – 6 as well which lowers the prices of alcohol and adds some appetizers into the mix. There’s a full bar though there did not seem to be a lot of choices for alcohol. This is unfortunately the case here though in East County. I’m not going to find any local gin and have basically given up trying but I’m guessing stocking more expensive bottles might, well get expensive. The menu has a ton of pasta dishes on it and seems to also gravitate to alfredo sauce from what I could tell. These days we order one main dish and two salads. We got ourselves fettucini and clam sauce which included the alfredo sauce and also had 2 caesar salads. The caesar dressing was your average dressing and of course too much of it but we forgot to have it on the side. It also was salty. You do get a nice portion for 3.00 each however. I might be just picky so see for yourself. The main dish showed up and he did bring the extra plate automatically.(Some places you have to tell them everything as if you were talking to one of your kids or something). The pasta was cooked fine. The clams were very tiny but they were very sweet, and there were many of them throughout the dish. The alfredo sauce was NOT a mix but was freshly made and tasty. It could have been cooked just a little bit longer so it could thicken a bit more, but all in all, it was very good. The cook also did not add any additional salt so you could enjoy the flavor of the actual sauce. They have these weird tvs up front that flash all their music groups that will be there. I get the advertising but it seemed just a wee bit tacky. They also had music on that did not really seem to work with ambience for dinner. I might try this place again and am hoping they figure out what they want the place to be. I also might go and listen to some of their live music. I’m thinking the acoustics might be pretty nice. Maybe a cool jazz venue could work?

Niiiice place for one of those church-to-bar places; not sure that even makes sense. I only came for a wine pickup for Naked Winery that they were hosting downstairs. It is a pretty big place to give you room to roam and not feel like you are eating on top of one another. It will get packed of course closer to the evening hours as its in Gresham and a lot of the locals tend to go there. I cant say it is worth the drive out if you live far away, however if you are in Gresham. Check it out.
