Nice subway convenient for camping at the beach. New help is good efficient. The subway is next to Starbucks and in the safeway shopping center very convenient to get to.

I really dislike this Subway. I don’t know how this location is still allowed to be part of the franchise. Every time I go there, which isn’t often based on every experience, they skimp on the toppings. Why do I continue to go? Because I don’t like fried food and there aren’t many fast options in Half Moon Bay. Tonight, I asked my husband to pick up a sub on his way home from work. I stressed the importance of asking for«extra» toppings with each topping order. I received 3 pickles on each half, 6 black olives on each half, minimal lettuce, and the mayo was only on one half of the sandwich so I had to add my own so it wasn’t dry as a bone. With all of the reviews and complaints, why do they not get the hint that their customers are dissatisfied with how their sandwich«artists» make the sandwiches? I’d like to add that each time I go there, I have to repeatedly say they aren’t putting enough on and they need to add more. What’s their response? To add one more pickle or just one more black olive. Where is the rationale when I could ask for every single topping they offer(which I don’t) and that would be FAR more expensive for than then the 2 toppings I order? Get with the program, people!

Absolutely the worst Subway I have *ever* eaten at and visited. No AC. Service sucks. Drinks are hot. Freezer not working. Bathroom looked like trash. Sandwiches Not properly prepared. Soggy pizza. One word. Horrible.

O.K. — I have eaten at extremely expensive five-star restaurants in NYC and LA all the way down to dive beach burger joints on the boardwalk in Venice, CA and everything in between from places we have visited across the country. Every place had their really good points and some very bad points that brought on a call to the Health Department for food poisoning. When it comes to listing what is euphemistically referred to as ‘fast food’ the choices of truly bad establishments runs the gamut. This particular SUBWAY definitely ISNOT included in that list. My husband and I have been eating at this particular SUBWAY at least once per week for months now as it is easy, the people behind the counter friendly and the owner very nice and also quite friendly. We have nothing but nice things to say to him about the food and the manner in which we were served. We pay very close attention to how the sandwiches are prepared and if we want more of something we ask for it. We are both very friendly to the girls behind the counter and always smile. If we can see a name on their uniform we always call them by their first name. We are never rude or demanding. They now remember us when we come in. The food has been delicious. The bread has been fresh and very tasty. The ingredients look fresh and we have not had any complaints. . except that they have run out of iced tea. . NOBIGDEAL! I often mix the lemonade with the iced tea and that is very refreshing. The lemonade is terrific just by itself! So, to all of you who who have complained — PLEASE — give it a rest! If you have a legitimate complaint — ask to speak to the manager and express your complaint to him directly so he has a chance to rectify the issue right then and there if possible. These are franchises! They are owned and operated by the Manager! So, it is the Manager is going to want to help you! He knows how much word-of-mouth advertising helps to promote his business! He wants his business to be a success! If he doesn’t hear the complaints first hand from all of you with your extremely critical comments — how can he possibly know how to make the changes to improve his business so he gets nothing but positive comments? BTW — My husband and I just finished another SUBWAY sandwich along with ½ chocolate chocolate-chip cookie and ½ an oatmeal cookie, too! We both thought the food very satisfying and quite delicious! We will be back next week or sooner! Wendy P.

I’m pretty sure I just paid $ 10 for a piece of bread. They skimp you on the meat and toppings. The old manager needs to come back

I’ve generally experienced decent service at this Subway. What I don’t like, though, is that the cash register charges more than the posted prices on the menu. It’s happened to me at least once before, but I don’t go in enough to have worked through what was wrong. This time I shaded the customer-side display and saw that the cash register is set up to charge 6.50 for a spicy Italian foot-long. The sandwich is $ 6.00. The manager had to tell the cashier how to correct it. There was no move made to fix the programming. Sandwich was ok — it’s a Subway — but I wonder how many people are being over-charged?

Too bad you can’t give minus stars. Absolute worst Subway ever. When you work in customer service a grasp of the English language is important, even more important and often what helps overcome not speaking well is knowing your own menu. They don’t. Clearly. I got a vege sandwich for the fifth time here. Worst one yet. Extra lettuce was taken as three shreds more. My footling sandwich had three max slices of each vege. When closed, it looked like a loaf of bread In short, don’t ever go here. Go to Safeway

SUB par service. I have been in here more than once… I thought I’d give this place another chance, but still they haven’t won me over. The service is incredibly SLOW and there was a problem with each order in our line. People get so frustrated, they give up. I watched while a customer was inquiring about what he was charged and what he got. Finally, he just paid and took whatever he was given whether that was what he wanted or not. Then, it was my turn. I had a coupon. This was a problem… need I go on?

Being a chain restaurant, you’d expect to get the same food at each restaurant, well I have to agree with the rest of the Unilocalers, this location SUCKS! They are slow, they don’t know the menu or specials going on with subway, and they get upset when you ask them questions and/or want you to put extra toppings on your sandwich. I think this HMB Subway is more expensive than other Subway locations as well. That doesn’t sound right, but I swear they are, or they charge you for extra stuff because I can never figure it out. Every time I’ve walked out of this place I say to myself, «I don’t remember Subway being that expensive!» Now, I just walk over to Safeway and order a sandwich out of their Deli, way better customer service and they make the sandwich the way you want it!

I experienced the worst service from Subway at this HMB location, and reading the other reviews I know I am not the only one. The person making the sandwiches for us was slow and stingy. I had to ask for extra meat(she was making two sandwiches for me and my brother, but his sandwich had obviously double, if not, triple the amount of meat than mine) and she said she would have to charge me extra. Then, when both my brother and I asked for extra onions, she gave us each an extra two little strings, so I asked her for more, and this is the part she really upset me. she had this cringe look on her face, saying«that’s already extra.» I had to insist I wanted more, and her attitude just made me extremely uncomfortable and I felt like I was some rude customer when I just love onion! I have been to many Subway chains and it’s fair to say the usual generous portions from the other chains don’t exist here. Also, I have never been charged for extra onions until yesterday… At the end, two foot-longs, one cookie, totaled up to $ 18, the most expensive I’ve ever paid at any Subway for two sandwiches.

This was my worst subway experience ever. Subways are usually pretty consistent when it comes to food quality and service. This one was CHEAP with the toppings — and I only asked for 4 toppings(tomatoes, cucumbers, jalapeños, and onions). I got 2 slices of tomato and 2 slices of cucumbers. When I asked for more tomato I received ONESLICE. Rediculous considering I only had four toppings out all the toppings they offer. And, to top it off, the bread was stale. No wonder this place only has 1 ½ stars. This is not the first time I’ve had issues here. Subway should revoke this franchise license.

Wow…3rd time front line staff had no idea of a BOGO – By One Get One– offer. A few times I went ahead and got a sandwich – once paying full price and once being extended the offer… But with an admonition. Sorry guys… I’d rather eat another local option than crow. Otherwise standard Subway fare.

I just finished my third(and likely final) visit to the HMB Subway. While the food quality is about what you’d expect from any Subway, this one is so subpar on other levels, there are better options in HMB. 1] the SLOOOOOOOWWWW service. Each time I’ve gone in, I’ve waited at least ten minutes in line — the last time was almost 30. Today, I see why. There were TWO people ahead of me. My sandwich was ordered, put in the oven, removed from the office, and sat for over five minutes while the one person making sandwiches(at lunchtime… good planning there) took his time on each one. This while the two guys working the register and final prep of sandwiches are laughing and chatting. The sandwich maker was doing about a sandwich every 90 seconds. This compares to the one in Sunnyvale on Mary that does one every 8 – 10 seconds. 2] One would think that based on #1, each sandwich was a masterpiece. No. In my case, I got two tomato slices(elsewhere I’d get three), three pickle slices(literally on top of each other in the center of the sandwich), three(I kid you not) olive slices set on top of the pickles, and then, for a garnish, a dab of mayo light… yes, on top of the olives. 3] the price. This is the first time I’ve gone to this location without others, so finally noticed the price. The same sandwich I always order(yes, I’m that boring) elsewhere cost me a buck more in the HMB Subway. I pointed that out, and the guy behind the counter actually argued with me…’cause apparently I don’t know what I order for lunch and what I pay for it three days a week? Geesh. Like I said, there are FAR better choices in HMB… try Leslie’s, for starters.

I’m a local in the Half Moon Bay area, and I frequent this Subway often. Most of the cheap/moderate restaurants in the area are just flat out fair to awful — but this Subway makes good sandwiches. The manager, Dylan Haase, has always been friendly and energetic, as has most of his staff. It is true that sometimes the lunch line can get very long, especially during some big tourist event or during the local high school lunch hour. But I think that attests to the quality of the sandwiches at a good price.

The bread at this Subway location is sometimes stale, but I do like Subway in general for all the veggies they put on their sandwiches! Management needs to hire more people. You need at least two at all times, often more. Last night at prime dinner hour there was only one. The poor woman had to do it all: make sandwiches, work the cash register, refill soda lids, you name it. I know it’s wasteful, but I hope she changed her plastic gloves between each transaction.
