I went by Tony’s Pizza today to grab a slice of pepperoni and mushroom and a Heineken. Bottom line: The pizza was delicious.(You can stop reading now.) The young guy taking the orders was super friendly. My pizza came out in about ten minutes… if that. I was happy to see that the pizza slice was(again) so large that it took two paper plates to hold it. I’m not from New York. My wife is not from New York. My children are not from New York. My dog and cat are not from New York. Neither is my car, my tv, or my sofa. But, I know what good pizza tastes like and I can recognize great service if I tilt my head to the side and squint. This is not New York pizza or Detroit pizza or Chicago pizza, but it’s pretty darned good for NC. It made me happy and after all… that’s what is important in my little world. Good pizza. Large slice. Crispy/crunchy crust. Plentiful toppings. Not one drop of grease or oil on the entire slice. Hot! Not a long wait. Friendly employees. Soccer on the telly. Cool inside the restaurant and ceiling fans also spinning. Ice cold beer. $ 7.xx. When Tony’s is «on» their pizza is delish, and today they were at the top of their A game.

Tony’s Pizza is one of the few pizza joints that really understands classic, New York style pizza. Being a native New Yorker, trust me, this is rare, especially in the Hickory area. At first, I thought the prices were a bit high, but when I saw the size of their slices, that all changed. Their«large» pizza puts Domino’s «large» to shame. Is it a bit greasy? Sure, but that’s because they use REAL cheese, not that over-processed, chemical-filled excuse for cheese used by the big chains. And to top it off, the staff at the counter is alway friendly. Try their freshly-made calzones. You won’t be disappointed.

Real pizza finally! The big chain pizza’s use mostly additives, chemicals and toxic oil products as ingredients, go on domino’s website yourself and look at the ingredient list. Tony’s is how pizza should be, the pizza dough is floor, yeast and a little salt, that’s it, nothing more is added. Read the ingredient list for the big chain pizza’s, look what you’re feeding your kids.

The thin slice NY pizzas are delicious but I’m not a big fan of their capri salad because the tomatoes were hard and had no flavor at all. If your looking for a good big size pizza for an affordable price, this is the place to go to or order from.

Terrible.. floor was so wet I could have swam to my table. Then I get a Philly with stale bread the marina was ketchup. .I left to many places to eat in this area. The Manager was not there or I would have asked to see the date on the bread. TERRIBLE

If you’re looking for a pizza that’s pretty big, don’t go to Papa Johns, or Dominos. Tony’s Pizza is a great place to get the gigantic pizza on the slice for $ 3.00 for cheese plus 50 cents per topping. You wouldn’t believe how big the pizza on the slice is, it’s like the size of a 24″ pizza. They also have a gluten free option. I’ve tried it before, and it’s not the greatest gluten free pizza in the world. Their hot wings are pretty good. Sanitation Rating 97.5. Try this place if you’re new to the Carolina’s. By the way, I’m moving to Nashville, TN. This is my last visit here

Tony’s pizza is quite good but suuuuuper greasy! I have never had to dab a napkin on my pizza till I ate there. This is a nice quick, simple and fast pizza experience for those days whe you are running around and don’t feel like McD’s

For the Hickory, NC area, this is a decent option for NY style pizza. For some reason, sometimes, I find their pizza crust(the back edge), is a bit hard and chewy, but most of the time it has been fine. I like a fresh salad, and they have been consistently fresh and good. That helps them earn my stars. I am not giving 5-stars, simply because they do not offer some more gourmet toppings that I prefer, like oven roasted chicken, goat cheese, etc… but then that’s not the right genre of pizza, so I understand.

15″ — 8 slices — half pepperoni(extra 50¢) and half cheese 3 small drinks($ 1.99 each) = $ 19.98 Not bad for three people. The wait was about ten minutes. The crust was crunchy and thin. It was good for pizza. We got a $ 3($ 3.21 w/tax) cheese slice for my niece for to-go and it was gigantic. I would visit again.

I was passing through Hickory and looked on Unilocal to find a good pizza joint. This place had good reviews so I checked it out. To my surprise, I quickly noticed that this restaurant is actually a chain that goes by other names. In Greensboro, it is Mario’s Pizza. Same décor, uniforms, and pizza. This isn’t a slight on the place. .. Mario’s is one of my favorites in Greensboro. But if you’ve been to Mario’s then you know what to expect with this place. Great«New York style» thin crust pizza. Don’t get the Sicilian pizza.

I tried the single lunch slice of pepperoni and the meatball parm sub. The sub was toasted well and crispy. Meatballs were good. Overall the sandwich was OK. Nothing special, though. The pizza slice was large and inexpensive(just under $ 3), very crispy, and wasn’t that greasy(as pepperoni pizza sometime is). Good lunch place.

I agree with Johnny M.‘s review completely. Quick, friendly service, good price and a good choice for NY style pizza.(On a side note: Once we ordered extra cheese, the second time we did not. Never could tell a difference in the amount of cheese — only difference was the price.)

Growing up, I always got the best pizza when I visited my grandmother in New Jersey. The first time I ordered a cheese pie at Tony’s, I felt like I was back in NJ. Tony’s makes the best NJ or NY style pizza in the area.
