I’ve only been here once, but it was a bad enough experience that I will not be back. I ordered gyoza and a vegetable stir fry. The gyoza were overcooked, the filling was just bizarre tasting, and the dipping sauce was sour. The stir fried veggies were ok(mostly cabbage though), but they were sitting in two inches of runny sauce. I ended up with sauce all over the floor of my car. The rice was good, that was pretty much it. I will definitely not be coming back.

Chicken Teriyaki & Gyoza combination is a must. Their Gyoza dipping sauce is very good and one of the best around.

Chicken and Beef combo teriyaki was good. The rice was cooked perfect. I will be revisiting Toshi’s. I think I will try the yakisoba next. :)

I ordered the chicken and veggie stir-fry and side of gyoza. The sauce for the gyoza was vinegary and delicious. There was an excess of sauce on the stir-fry which turned me off a bit however. Also, I ordered take out and when I attempted to put soy sauce on my rice the chef told me not to! He then began to complain about how Americans always put too much sauce on everything. This may be true, but I bought the food and I have to eat it so I will apply sauce however I want thank you very much!

Yummy! Good amount of food. Great service! It was a good stop. Pretty healthy too, it will sustain us for the road.

Eating here for the first time right now &MAN does it hit the spot. Great portions, well worth the price and quality. I got chicken teriyaki($ 8.99) and a side of gyoza(5pc for $ 2.99). Struggling to finish all the food but can’t stop eating because it’s so good. The gyoza was perfectly crisp on the very outer edge and came with a tiny cucumber salad that was soo good. Teriyaki well doused in sauce. Salad dressing was a little too sour for me, but still good enough to eat. Place is a little dingy and small but there’s a table for 4 and a counter seated up to 6. Nice quiet place to grab a bite.

Super small place so definitely order to go. Not much room to sit at all. It also took a while to get it. We waited about 20 minutes which is much longer than most teriyaki places. However the teriyaki is very good and decent portions — comes with a salad and marinated cucumbers which I enjoyed. I have 5 more weeks of Friday’s in Issaquah for class so I will be coming here weekly for my teriyaki fix cuz it was pretty darn good!

Your local teriyaki joint that does it right. The owners are wonderful and soft spoken. Always welcoming and easily takes your order and gets the job done. The price is right, they’re quick and efficient. I always order the same thing, vegetable yakisoba where the vegetables aren’t over cooked and it is fresh. No complaints there. I’ve never sat down to eat but it looks small and cozy of you decide to sit near the Windows which also do not have a view. I’d recommend taking it to go. A go-to spot that never disappoints!

Pretty typical teriyaki place. It’s conveniently located near my office so I can grab a quick bite for lunch.(Trying to avoid the Big Box fast food places, I am.) Price is reasonable and take out make sense when I don’t have to go very far to get to back to my office.

Meh! The food was average but the problem was that it had too much rice and not enough chicken in the Chicken Teriyaki(my wife’s order). My order was ok — just a little over done(Pork Katsu — singed a bit).

The food is delicious, fast, and abundant! Everything you can ask for. I haven’t noticed any rudeness or double-charging. Some of the previous comments have me nervous, but the guy always seems kind to me.

Having experienced the work of the original Toshi, who built up an area chain based on his anal retentiveness to quality, authenticism, and tastiness — this was an extreme disappointment like the explosion of teriyaki wanna-be’s in the greater Seattle area. Toshi’s have now been individually sold to private owners so you can’t expect one to be anything like the other — except for the lack of everything Toshi made the chain to be before selling out. Good teriyaki should be sauce-optional because the marinade and grilling combine for a heavenly flavor on meats where the contrast between the juicy center and grilled exterior personifies. The contemporaries who are typically non-Japanese convenience store types are looking to minimize costs with the cheapest product and it really shows. My search for something even remotely like the original Toshi’s continues… but I know one thing it ain’t the Toshi’s of today.

This place has good food. Good teriyaki that is reasonably priced. However, on multiple occasions I have made credit card tips and the same gentleman has politely told me that my receipt wouldn’t print. Sometimes I have been double charged while others the total amount is different on my credit card statement(the tip amount was changed so the merchant received more money). It is usually only few dollars difference, and a regular person probably wouldn’t notice. But regardless, it is not a good business practice and I won’t ever go back due to these reasons. Love the food, I would recommend paying in cash to be safe.

For those of us that expect more chicken than rice when ordering Chicken Teriyaki(as the name implies), then this place fails. Good tasting food, but a bit pricey for a plate of rice…

Solid if not inspired teriyaki. Portions are a little small but fills the void. You could do worse for teriyaki in issaquah.

I’ve never been yelled at by an owner before. I don’t think I’ve ever been yelled at by any food service worker either. I think I met Gordon Ramsay’s Korean cousin today. Or maybe the Yakisoba Nazi(that’s humor referencing to Seinfeld’s famous Soup Nazi). It was almost funny, but really pathetic what happened today at this teriyaki joint. Like you, I’ve been to a million teriyaki places over the years and it’s pretty much the same menu. I called in my order for pickup and asked for the chicken and broccoli. And I made it clear — ONLY chicken and broccoli, nothing else on the plate(rice on the side is fine). Not only am I allergic to some things they like to add in, but I usually don’t like it and just prefer the basics — chicken and broccoli — done. I’ve done this order dozens of times at dozens of teriyaki places — it’s not complicated and it’s never a problem as it shouldn’t be. Anyway, I show up at noon and the place is empty — which is odd, since most Teriyaki places do half their business during the lunch hour. The owner rings up my order and I’m about to add some teriyaki sauce on my dish and realize that there’s a bunch of onions and other vegetables mixed in(very little broccoli) on my order. So I show him my issue and he instantly loses it. Goes from zero to pissed on 0.8 seconds. He starts yelling at me, telling me that the is only ONE chicken and broccoli dish and it’s served only ONE(capital letters indicates yelling) WAY! He points to the picture and scolds me like I should have known. I started to ask him why he didn’t tell me this on the phone, but then yells again /interrupts me, demanding my credit card back to refund my order and goes ballistic on the cash register(so mad he couldn’t work the credit card machine) and just gives up and gives me a cash refund. He shorted me a dollar, but I think he would have burst a vein if I went any farther. Then he takes my food order, raises it above his head, and slams it in the garbage can in a dramatic form, like John McEnroe sacrificing a tennis racket. I seriously was trying to keep a straight face because I couldn’t see what could be so infuriating about my order that would matter so much that, having it go wrong would bring out the inner toddler to declare temper tantrum jihad like this. I don’t think I will be back to Toshi teriyaki and I think you might think twice and try another, predictably tempered Teriyaki outfit down the street.

Toshi’s on Gilman Blvd. in Issaquah is definitely a teriyaki joint I recommend. I was out from Seattle for a meeting, and was hoping for some early lunch, but it was only 10am, and was only finding coffee shop grub. I wanted grilled meat! When I got to the place, the proprietor said they opened at 10:30, and then promptly offered to cook for me and invited me in. I ordered a chicken and pork teriyaki combo after he patiently described the pork for me. The salad had plenty of dressing, the pork was tasty and the chicken tender, with plenty of thick-style sauce – no extra sauce needed. It’s a small place, so you might take your order to go, and it’s not fancy, but in a world of plentiful but mediocre teriyaki joints, the friendly attitude and better-than-most food quality was just what I hope for.

Great! My husband and I were looking for something cheap and yummy the other night and Toshi’s was it! My husband had the beef yakisoba and I have the chicken and katsu combo plate. We ordered to go since the restaurant itself is rather small. The great thing about Toshi’s is that you get to watch them cook up your food fresh right in front of you! Someone else mentioned that they used pre-cooked meat and reheated it but there was none of that for us. Raw beef and chicken cooked right in front of our eyes until tender perfection and lavished with teriyaki sauce. Yummy! My husband felt his was a little small(the yakisoba) but for 40 cents more mine included a salad, two types of meat, and copious amounts of rice. It was more than enough for me, and after complaining that his was small he couldn’t finish all of it. So, in short, the portion sizes are very generous. As for taste, their teriyaki sauce is overly sweet as I have experienced at other stores. There is more depth of flavor which is great. Anyone can stir together some brown sugar and soy sauce, but this has delectable flavor that only comes from love, time, and effort. Yummy! All in all, a great teriyaki joint that is locally owned. We are proud to support Toshi’s Teriyaki and will definitely be coming back!

I’ve been eating here for 7 – 8 years now & I love it! The couple who owns the restaurant are so nice & accommodating. I usually order take out. The place is quite small and there are a couple places to sit if you want. The gyozas are so good — hot, flavorful, & crispy! I also order the yakisoba or chicken skewers :). So if you’re looking for fast, affordable, Japanese food in Issy, this is the place to try!
