Why is it so hard to find a decent Asian restaurant in Houston? When we moved to this city we had the pleasure of dining at the Phoenix restaurant in the mission bend area(the best asian food) we found so far and after they closed we have been on the hunt for someone to fill the void they left. After our 1st experience of dining at Chang’s we thought OK not bad, but I think that after so many bad places we’ve been to this was the best of a long line of HORRIBLE eateries. Our other two visits to Chang’s forced me to add them to my list of places I will never go to again…

We ordered the pepper steak, sesame chicken and chicken fried rice and we asked for everything to be extra spicy, which it was not. The steak was okay at best, the sesame chicken literally had no flavor, but the chicken fried rice was pretty good although there was a lack of chicken. There are a lot other places in that area to eat, not going back to this one though. Only one waiter, not many tables he was serving, but still not very attentive.

The service was really good. The food was ok to good. Not spectacular but predictable. The steamed pork dumplings and the fried wontons were good. It was a bit out of the way for us and it is a toss up if we go back.

I went to this restaurant over the weekend. My husband and I wanted to try this place so we ate there. We both ordered shrimp noodles and the food actually tasted really good. The service was great as well. However, the food was bad as 20 minutes after have finished eating, both my husband and myself had upset stomachs. The food we ate gave us diarrhea

Looks like Chang’s has turned it around. When they first opened the food was outstanding. Over the years it started slipping, but looks as if they have returned to their former glory. We had lunch here this past weekend and I have to say everything was great! I had the triple Mongolian extra spicy. The portion was large, especially considering it was the lunch special. Everything was cooked well and the shrimp tasted gulf fresh. The wonton soup was the best it has ever been, very clean, no fish sauce in this one. The egg roll hot fresh and not greasy, very good. Service was top notch, our waitress was friendly and our ice tea was always full. Great Job!

We get take-out from there ALL the time! They are super-quick(10 min. max from calling in to picking up) & they have a great menu! Plus, the lunch portions are generous, and are served till 3pm! The fried noodles/chips are great too! I love those! For 2 – 3 to eat, it costs no more than $ 20!

Dependably good lomein. We usually order the beef lomein with mushrooms and an order of crab puffs and egg rolls. Everyone is happy. Believe it or not, it’s hard to find good lomein. They never disappoint. Their Kung Pao beef is also very good, but a little spicey, ask for no spice if you’re a weenie like me..

Worst Chinese food ever. Don’t even dare to order Kung pap and Tso’s chicken. The fried rice is dry and worst.

Had the pleasure of meeting a friend for lunch here and I must say it way very good. The restaurant was small but clean and the décor was exquisite. Our waiter immediately took our order and the soup came out almost instantly. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I had the general tso’s chicken with fried rice. The portion was generous and the food was amazingly tasty. I asked my friend to take me somewhere in Katy where I’ve never been before and she hit the bull’s-eye. Definitely will be back!

I come to Changs 3 – 5 times a month. I have tried atleast half the menu and can say that it is one of the best chinese restaurants in the Katy/Houston area. The food has always been consistently tasty. The hot and sour soup is especially delicious! The portions are big and the lunch/dinner menu is so affordable and comes with a choice of soup, rice, and egg roll. I would definitely recommend trying Changs!

Its average chinese food in my opinion. The fried rice that comes w the meal could definitely use some flavor and I felt like my dish lacked some flavor also. Could just possibly be what I ordered. It wasnt bad but a little bland. I ordered the beef, chicken, shimp in mongolian style which is carrots, celery, green onions and brown sauce. They gave you about 3 – 4 pieces of jumbo shrimp. It was a large lunch portion and I was unable to finish. It also came w the standard egg roll and choice of soup. Lunch prices started at $ 6.95 and up. Came back for dinner and had the Orange chicken. Does not come with soup. The chicken chunks were huge and had a good flavor. My friend ordered the chicken fried rice and big difference in taste and texture compared to the house fried rice served with the meal.

I love dumplings and Changs pork fried dumplings are 10⁄10! Also a fan of their fried rice and lo mein… Usually get chicken in both.

Chang’s has excellent food and service at a reasonable price. I love their sweet and sour chicken and general’s chicken. They have really great lunch specials that are available seven days a week!

Yikes. The only place I’ve wound up at this restaurant more than once is because we went so long between visits that we forgot how not-outstanding it is, and where the next closest Chinese place is. The food is low-quality(though portions are substantial), and prices keep going up. Spot the most recent increases with the white-out or pasted-over prices. They went up, not down, promise. The place: It’s definitely a restaurant and not a hole-in-the-wall, but there’s nothing that special about it. It isn’t very loud, though, which is a plus. The food: Here’s where it really loses points. The wonton soup is bland… the broth just isn’t flavorful, and there’s not much else in it besides a wonton or two. Kung pao chicken, which is one of my favorite dishes, is okay, but the chicken bits(although plentiful) are tiny. I’ve had better at Pei Wei. We got the seafood delight last time, and that was the final straw. The shrimp were tough and hiding underneath all the vegetables, although the sauce was passable. I generally find the rice here to be overcooked and a little tough. Speaking of tough, you should try the General Tso’s chicken… or the orange chicken… or the sesame chicken. All of them are heavily breaded and fried. The experience: Service can be really slow here. Inattentiveness is more easily forgiven if the server’s at least somewhere nearby where you can flag them down, or if other servers are willing to help out, but that’s not the case here. They’re pleasant enough, though. Proceed with caution.

Not a bad typical Chinese-American lunch joint as far as things go. Yes, dishes are decidedly Americanized(which, FYI, I love). So if you want real Chinese food, head down to Chinatown. Chang’s reminds me of Fu’s Garden, which I also approve of. I’m a sucker for sesame chicken, and the $ 7 lunch version at Chang’s was quite tasty and generously portioned. The pineapples were a nice touch, and the garlic infusion was so delicious I could taste it on my breath all afternoon. Chang’s gets minus points for not having broccoli with the chicken, mediocre hot and sour soup, and taking an arm and a leg to deliver the food. Chinese-American lunch is supposed to be a snap, yo. Would come here again.
